DRIVERS DOOR OPENED DURING A TURN. DOOR WOULD NO LONGER LATCH CLOSED. THIS CAR WAS IN DALLAS TX TILL ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET TRAVELLING 50 MPH WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO STALL. I HIT THE GAS AND MY CAR JERKED AND STALLED AGAIN. THEN MY CAR READ A MESSAGE THAT SAID "TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW." ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION, I PARKED MY CAR AND IT MADE SOME FUNNY SOUND ALMOST LIKE A CLUNKING NOISE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME MY CAR HAS STALLED OUT AND HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THIS IS ACTUALLY THE THIRD TIME I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR AND BEEN SCARED OUT OF MY MIND DUE TO MY CAR STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE AND DOOR DOES NOT REMAIN CLOSED/LATCHED WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL. CANNOT SECURE MY CAR NOR CAN I SAFELY OPERATE MY CAR SINCE THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. THIS IS THE SECOND DOOR LATCH THAT IS DEFECTIVE IN MY VEHICLE. NOW BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS WILL NOT REMAIN CLOSED. FRONT AND REAR DOOR LATCHES ARE DEFECTIVE.
THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED AND WILL NOT CLOSE THE DOOR ANYMORE. DEALER SAYS THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO 2012 FORD FOCUS
THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IMMEDIATELY SWUNG OPEN WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I WAS UNABLE TO EVER CLOSE IT AGAIN AFTER THAT. IT JUST LEANS IN PLACE, BUT IT NEVER LATCHES.
ON THE PASSENGER DOOR, DRIVERS SIDE, I FOUND THE DOOR OPEN WHEN I WAS WALKING TO MY CAR FROM WORK. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE STOLE ANYTHING. I THEN DISCOVERED THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT. IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE A BREAK IN AND I WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH.THE MECHANIC SAID THE DOOR LATCH WAS VERY POORLY DESIGNED. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS THIS DOOR LATCH PROBLEM IS HAPPENING WITH OTHER FORDS AS WELL. I CONSIDER THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE DOOR COULD HAVE SWUNG OPEN WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I TRIED CONTACTING FORD TO DISCUSS THIS PROBLEMS BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HELPFUL. APPARENTLY THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS. CURRENTLY I AM CONCERNED IF THE OTHER DOORS WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM-DOOR LATCH ISSUE.
THE FRONT DRIVER-SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE. I MADE SURE THE LATCH IS NOT CLOSED SHUT BEFORE CLOSING THE DOOR. THE DOOR LATCH BAR ATTACHED TO THE CAR GOES INSIDE THE OPEN LATCH SEAMLESSLY, HOWEVER THE LATCH WILL NOT HOLD. THE ONLY WORKAROUND I HAVE FOUND IS TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED, LOCK THE CAR, THEN PUSH THE DOOR OPEN AND SHUT IT AGAIN. ONLY THEN WILL THE LATCH ENGAGE. WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED, THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I WAS DRIVING FROM A RESTAURANT AND THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT CAME ON, THE VEHICLE MAP SAID IT WAS MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I TRIED TO CLOSE IT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, NO LUCK, UNTIL I CAME ACROSS THE WORKAROUND MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY.
FAULTY DOOR LATCH. FORD WILL NOT HONOR ITS OWN RECALL NOTICE PUBLISHED IN NEWS PAPERS THROUGHOUT US. COST FOR REPLACE IS OVER $500. DOOR LATCHES HAVE FAILED WHILE DRIVING. MY LATCH FAILED WHILE IN PARK, BUT DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. FROM ABC NEWS ARTICLE "FORD IS RECALLING ABOUT 830,000 VEHICLES IN THE U.S. AND MEXICO BECAUSE PARTS IN THE SIDE DOOR LATCHES CAN BREAK AND THE DOORS CAN OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLES ARE MOVING. THE RECALL ANNOUNCED THURSDAY COVERS CERTAIN 2013 TO 2015 FORD ESCAPE SUVS AND C-MAX CARS, AND 2012 TO 2015 FOCUS CARS. ALSO INCLUDED ARE 2014 TO 2016 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT VANS, AND FORD MUSTANG SPORTS CARS AND LINCOLN MKC SUVS FROM 2015." FORD SAYS A FAULTY SPRING PART CAN BREAK, STOPPING THE DOORS FROM LATCHING. THE COMPANY SAYS THE RATE OF PROBLEMS IS HIGHER IN STATES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AND SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE, SO THE RECALL IS FOCUSED ON ALL OF MEXICO AND 16 STATES MAINLY IN THE SOUTH AND WEST. STATES INCLUDED ARE ALABAMA, ARKANSAS, ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, HAWAII, LOUISIANA, MISSISSIPPI, NEW MEXICO, NEVADA, OKLAHOMA, TEXAS, UTAH, OREGON AND WASHINGTON. DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL LATCHES IN THE RECALL STATES AND MEXICO. IN OTHER STATES THEY WILL REPLACE THE LATCHES IF THEY BREAK. THE COMPANY SAYS IT KNOWS OF ONE CRASH AND ONE INJURY THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE PROBLEM. THE RECALL WILL COST FORD ABOUT $270 MILLION, AND THAT FIGURE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE COMPANY'S THIRD-QUARTER PRETAX RESULTS, FORD SAID IN A FILING WITH THE SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION. DOOR LATCHES HAVE BEEN PROBLEMATIC FOR FORD DURING THE PAST TWO YEARS. IN MAY OF 2015 THE COMPANY HAD TO RECALL 692,000 SMALL AND MIDSIZE CARS FOR A SIMILAR LATCH PROBLEM. AT THE TIME, THE U.S. NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION WARNED OWNERS OF THE CARS TO GET THEM REPAIRED AS SOON AS THEY GET A NOTICE FROM FORD."
DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING DOOR OPENED ON TURN. HAVE TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED TO DRIVE OR TIE ROPE TO DOOR. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD DRIVERS DOOR. VIN NOT IN RECALL BUT FITS ALL SYMPTOMS LIVE IN WARM AREA IN SOUTHTEXAS.
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON 08/03/2016 AT APPROX. 8PM, MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR OPENED. AT THE SAME TIME, THE DOME LIGHT CAME ON, AND A WARNING APPEARED ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL. I MANAGED TO PULL THE DOOR CLOSED. AFTER PULLING OVER AND STOPPING, I REPEATEDLY ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR. IT WOULD NOT LATCH. THIS LEAVES MY CAR UNDRIVABLE AND UNSECURED (EVEN WHEN MY VEHICLE IS LOCKED, THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR DOES NOT LOCK, AS IT WILL NOT LATCH).
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY DRIVER DOOR JUST FLEW OPEN. NOW IT WON'T SHUT UNLESS I LOCK THE DOOR FIRST IN THE SLOT IN THE DOOR JAM THEN CLOSE IT. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SAME YEAR ON THE FIESTA, FUSION, AND LINCOLN MKZ. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, LUCKY I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON LIKE YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BUT THE DOOR COULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER CAR AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I AM LUCKY THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN....
R/H REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH, DOOR FREELY OPEN WITH NO ACTION BY USER, WHILE MOVING DOOR OPEN WITH ANY TURN TO THE LEFT

THE DOOR OF MY 2012 FORD FOCUS FLEW OPEN WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT LATCH TO CLOSE.
WHEN I WENT OUT ONE DAY TO LEAVE WORK THE BACK DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LATCH NO LONGER WORKED AFTER I OPENED THE CAR. I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL WITHOUT THE DOOR FLYING OPEN. I TRIED TO SECURE IT BUT THE WEIGHT OF THE DOOR BREAKS ALL STRINGS/ROPES. I RESORTED TO A BUNGEE CORD. WHEN I TAKE TURNS THE DOOR STILL OPENS BUT CLOSES SHUT. I HAVE A BABY THAT SITS IN THE BACK SEAT SO I WAS SCARED AND TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE TELLING ME SINCE ITS NOT AN ACTIVE RECALL YET THAT THEY WILL ONLY REPAIR IT FOR A DISCOUNTED RATE OF $350 BUT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. I TOLD THEM THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE AS I HAVE A BABY IN THE BACKSEAT AND IT'S A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. INTERESTING ENOUGH, AT FIRST WHEN THE REP. THOUGHT IT WAS COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY, HE TOLD ME HE COULD NOT RELEASE MY VEHICLE TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD. NOW THAT THEY MIGHT NOT PAY FOR IT, IT'S OK TO BE RELEASED. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK IF THEY WILL PAY FOR IT BUT AGAIN, THE PART ISN'T IN YET EITHER. I AM ALSO NOT ABLE TO SECURE MY CAR ANYMORE BECAUSE WITH ONE DOOR ALWAYS OPEN THE DOORS WILL LOCK BUT THE ALARM DOESN'T WORK.

THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000. VIN TOOLS CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN MY DOOR FLEW OPEN. I TRIED TO CLOSE WITH NO AVAIL. I HELD MY DOOR CLOSED UNTIL I GOT HOME AND IT STILL WILL NOT LATCH. I CALLED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND OF COARSE THERE IS NOT. BUT WAS TOLD A PENCIL WOULD RESET IT, THIS DID NOT WORK.
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY, TRANSMISSION FAILED TO PROVIDE POWER UPON ACCELERATION
ON AUGUST 2ND, 2016, THE BACK DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVER SIDE FAILED, AND IT WILL NO LONGER HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED. I HAD OPENED MY BACK DOOR TO PUT MY BACKPACK IN THE BACKSEAT, AND WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR, IT CLOSED COMPLETELY, BUT WOULD NOT LATCH AND HOLD THE DOOR SHUT. I NOW HAVE A RATCHET STRAP GOING FROM BACK DOOR TO BACK DOOR, HOLDING MY DOOR CLOSED.IT WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME. I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT BEYOND I NEEDED TO GET IT FIXED, UNTIL I WENT TO THE FORD DEALER TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT PART. I WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS ASSOCIATE THAT THE LATCH I NEEDED WAS ON BACK ORDER. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT FORD HAS RECALLS ON THE SAME MODEL YEAR FUSION AND FIESTA FOR THIS SAME FAILURE, AND THERE ARE SOME COMPLAINTS SURFACING ABOUT THE FOCUS. SIDE NOTE: 2 WEEKS LATER, I AM STILL WAITING ON THE REPLACEMENT DOOR LATCH MECHANISM. IT REALLY MAKES ME THINK THAT FORD USED THE SAME PART IN THE FIESTA, FOCUS AND FUSION MODELS.
DOOR LATCHES BAD ON CAR HAVE HAD TWO OCCACIONS WHERE THEY GO FAULTY, FIRST TIME WAS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BOTH THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH WENT BAD, THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION WHEN I FOUND OUT, AND I WAS UNDER THE WARRANTY TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO I NEVER COMPLAINED. THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING WITH MY DOG IN THE BACK SEAT AND THE DOOR SWINGS OPEN, I WAS VERY SHOCKED FROM THE SITUATION BECAUSE MY DOG NEARLY FEEL OUT, MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS IT WAS MY FAULT I DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT WHEN I WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR IN THE BACK THE LATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE, I KNEW AT THIS POINT WHAT WAS GOING ON BECAUSE OF MY FIRST EXPERIENCE. THIS TIME I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY OVER 500 DOLLARS TO FIX. THAT WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS TO ME AND IVE HEARD OTHER PEOPLE THAT OWN FORD FOCUS CARS THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. ON BOTH DRIVERS DOOR. SEEMS LIKE FRAUD IF YOU ASK ME
LURCHING AND UNCONTROLLED SHIFTING OCCURS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAS LEFT ME STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A LEFT TURN BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY. NOW I RAN OFF THE ROAD WHILE EXITING A FREEWAY BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING TURNED OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 6 TIMES RANDOMLY. IT GIVES ME A POWER STEERING FAULT. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO BEING THE CAUSE OF 3 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THESE TWO ISSUES.
THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND FREQUENTLY DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) AND HAS EVEN FAILED TO APPLY POWER WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC RISKING A COLLISION BY NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO FAILED ONCE WHILE ON A HILL CAUSING ME TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION WITH THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME. AFTER I HIT THE BRAKES TO STOP THE REARWARD ROLL, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE JUST REVVED UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION SLAMMED VIOLENTLY INTO GEAR. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN PRESENT FROM DAY ONE OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD INSISTED THAT THIS WAS HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION.
THE REAR DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH. THE DOOR JUST SUDDENLY FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND NOW WILL NOT LATCH SHUT. I WAS ON A CITY STREET WHEN IT HAPPENED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY AND FAILED TO SECURE. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THEN WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING BY HOLDING THE DOOR HANDLE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I PURCHASED A USED 2012 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK IN OCTOBER 2012 THAT HAD 29,000 MILE ON IT AT THE TIME. I DROVE THE VEHICLE UP TO 39,000 AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS INITIATING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. I LOOKED DOWN TO SEE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR MESSAGE. THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AT THAT POINT, AND I WAS OUT 2,000$ IN REPAIRS. I HAVE SEEN THAT FORD HAS RECALLED OTHER VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, JUST NOT THE 2012 FOCUS YET. IN OCTOBER 2014, I FOUND THE HARD STUTTERING UPON ACCELERATING AND THEN I RECEIVED MY FIRST RECALL NOTICE. A NEW TCM WAS INSTALLED, REPROGRAMMED, ALONG WITH A NEW CLUTCH. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT THE CLUTCH FAILED AND I HAD TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR REPAIRS. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER THAT I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 70 MPH AND THE DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION, SERVICE NOW ERROR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE TCM AGAIN AND REPROGRAMMED. IN AUGUST 2016, THE CAR IS NOW AT AROUND 65,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 40 MPH ON A BUSY CITY STREET WHEN I RECEIVED THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION, SERVICE NOW ERROR. I JUST GOT THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY, THE 4TH TIME, WITH A NEW TCM THAT HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE, AND FORD IS AWARE. THE TECHNICIANS I HAVE DEALT WITH ALL KNOW THE EXACT ISSUE BEFORE I EXPLAIN IT TO THEM. I ASKED FOR A COMPLAINT LINE, OR ANY OPTIONS FOR CONSUMERS IN MY POSITION AND WAS TOLD BY BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HOT LINE THAT THERE ARE NONE. I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP IF THEY KNEW THEY WERE HANDING ME AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, AND HE SHOOK HIS HEAD THEN STATED HE WISHED THERE WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD DO BUT I AM OUT OF LUCK.

I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED IN MAY OF 2015.. I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE CAR RUNNING SHAKY AND ATTRIBUTED THAT TO BAD FUEL. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AND WOULD COME AND GO. MAY 2016, MY HUSBAND, SON AND I ARE TRAVELING TO HIS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP AND WERE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND MY HUSBAND STEPPED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR JERKED US ALL FORWARD HARD AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WITH CARS HONKING BEHIND US. WE HAD A MESSAGE 'TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW'. HE CALLED A FORD SERVICE CENTER AND WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION WAS UNDER TWO SEPARATE RECALLSCAR FAX REPORT SHOWN AT THE DEALERSHIP). WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD SERVICE CENTER. THEY EXPLAINED THAT THERE ARE THREE STEPS TO TRY TO GET THIS CORRECTED. THEY PERFORMED THE FIRST STEP WHICH WAS TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THE NEXT DAY AND PULLING OUT INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION. MY CAR JERKED ME FORWARD HARD AND DOESN'T ACCELERATE AND I AM FACING TRAFFIC FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS. I CREPT OUT SLOWLY, SHUDDER, SHAKE, SHUDDER SHAKE AND NARROWLY MISS A COLLISION FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS AND HAD THE SAME MESSAGE 'TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SERVICE NOW'. I HAD MY CAR TOWED FOR THE SECOND STEP OF THE RECALL. THE SECOND STEP IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. I AM PULLING OUT OF A LOCAL STORE AND AGAIN MY CAR JERKS ME FORWARD HARD AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITH A LOGGING TRUCK COMING UPON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR. ONCE AGAIN, I NARROWLY ESCAPE ANOTHER COLLISION. THIRD STEP OF THE RECALL WHICH WAS TO CLEAN THE CLUTCHES. I GOT THE CAR BACK AND A WEEK LATER. AGAIN, MY CAR JERKED US BOTH FORWARD HARD AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. MY SON IS YELLING 'MOM, GET GOING THEY ARE GOING TO HIT US' AS HE IS LOOKING BACK AT A CAR THAT ALMOST HIT US FROM BEHIND WHILE MY CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE.
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION IN MY FORD HAS STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND LEFT ME SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE MANY TIMES. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY IN THAT I HAVE ONLY BEEN STRANDED IN A TRAFFIC LANE ONCE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD AND GONE THROUGH THE SAME THINGS THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY STATED: FIRST THEY BLAMED IT ON INSUFFICIENT ELECTRICAL GROUNDS, THEN THEY CHARGED ME $200 TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE TRANSMISSION THEN FAILED IN THE DEALERS LOT. I FINALLY HAD THE TCM REPLACED UNDER RECALL IN FENRUARY 2015 AND HAVE BEEN LUCKY WHEN COMPARED TO MANY OTHERS. THE VEHICLE HAS RECENTLY BEGUN SHAKING VIOLENTLY, LURCHING FORWARD, AND SOMETIMES NOT MOVING FORWARD AT ALL. I NEVER KNOW WHAT GEAR I WILL GET WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR OR IF I WILL GET A FORWARD GEAR AT ALL. THE MOST DANGEROUS THING IS THE UNPREDICTABILITY. IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT CITY DRIVING IS INTOLERABLE. THE FORD MECHANIC TOLD ME I NEED A NEW TCM (AGAIN?), BOTH CLUTCHES, AND THE SLAVE CYLINDER REPLACED. I ASKED HOW LONG I COULD EXPECT THAT REPAIR TO LAST. HE ADMITTED - AWAY FROM OTHER EMPLOYEES - THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD BECAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUS. THE FORD SERVICE CONSULTANT ADVISED ME TO PARK THE CAR AND TO SELL IT BUT MY CONSCIENCE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT SOMEONE ELSE AT RISK BY DRIVING IT. I HAVE PARKED THE FOCUS AND WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO DRIVE IT. A USED CAR LOT EMPLOYEE TOLD ME ON 27 AUGUST THAT SHE REFUSES TO SELL THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO DANGEROUS. A BRIEF SEARCH OF THE NET REVEALS LAWSUITS IN AUSTRALIA, CANADA, ILLINOIS, AND CALIFORNIA ALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. THESE VEHICLES MUST BE RECALLED AND THE TRANSMISSIONS MUST BE REPLACED WITH A SYSTEM THAT ACTUALLY WORKS, NOT WITH THE SAME BAD SYSTEM. IT IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ONE OF THESE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS GETS SOMEONE KILLED.

TO GET IT FIXED IT WILL COST OVER $800 TO FIX IT. IF YOU LOOK THE RADIOS HAVE BEEN BAD IN FOCUS,FEISTA,FUSION & TAURUS FROM 2008 TO 2013. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND NOW THE CONSUMER HAS TO PAY FOR IT. SINCE IT IS ELECTRICAL IT COULD EFFECT OTHER PARTS OF THE SYSTEM. THEY TOLD US TO PUT AN AFTER MARKET RADIO SYSTEM IN AND THAT WILL STILL COST OVER $700. I AM LIFE TIME FORD BUYER AND NOW I FILL DUPED FROM THEM.

WHILE DRIVING MY FOCUS AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN MY DRIVER DOOR OPENED IN MID TURN AND FLEW OPEN. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE I TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. AFTER LOOKING AT THE DOOR THE LOCKING MECH WOULD NOT GO BACK UP IT STAYED DOWN.
PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. DROVE FOR +/- 200 FEET ACTIVATING AUTO-LOCK WHILE PULLING ON DOOR TO CLOSE IT HELPED AND IT FINALLY LATCHED. LATER I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING 65-70 IT POPPED OPEN AGAIN. AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND STRUGGLING TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT, I MANAGED TO GET IT TO CLOSE AGAIN BECAUSE THE AUTO-LOCK KEPT CLICKING.

SAN TAN FORD EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THE FORD FOCUS YET, ONLY ON THE FUSION AND THE FIESTA. I AM FURIOUS TO FIND OUT THERE HAS BEEN OVER 73 FORD FOCUS VEHICLES REPORTED WITH THIS LATCH ISSUE AND A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN MADE. I AM ALSO AWARE THAT THESE MALFUNCTIONING LATCHES CAN BREAK ON ANY OF THE DOORS IN THESE VEHICLES AT ANYTIME. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE HAVING ANY FAMILY MEMBERS INCLUDING GRANDCHILDREN RIDE WITH ME IN MY CAR. SAN TAN FORD GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $529.00 TO FIX ONE LATCH. IN ORDER FOR ALL OF MY LATCHES TO BE REPLACED IT WILL BE OVER $2,116.00. THIS IS UNETHICAL AND HAZARDOUS TO THEIR CONSUMERS AND FAMILIES.
IN MARCH 2016 THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE. AS WE WERE GETTING READY TO LEAVE HOME I OPENED THE CAR DOOR, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT WOULD NOT LATCH. AT THIS TIME, WE WERE LUCKY THAT THE CAR WAS IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND NOT IN MOTION OR AWAY FROM HOME. WE HAD TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED TO GET IT TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE DEALER DECIDED THE LATCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS COST ALMOST $500. THEN, IN JULY 2016 THE LATCH ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED. IN THIS INSTANCE, WHILE MY 16 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING, THE PASSENGER DOOR SWUNG OPEN. LUCKILY, IT DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AS IT SWUNG OPEN. HE SLOWED DOWN FOR HIS PASSENGER TO CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT JUST LIKE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR EARLIER THIS YEAR, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. MY SON'S FRIEND HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED THE ENTIRE DRIVE TO OUR HOUSE (ABOUT 5 MILES ON A HIGHLY TRAVELED ROAD THAT HAS A SPEED LIMIT OF 55 MPH). THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS OR DANGEROUS SITUATION IF MY SON HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR HAD BEEN ALONE IN THE CAR. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AND CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS IN HOPES THAT THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. EVEN THOUGH THE FORD FOCUS IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR MANY VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND OTHER FORD VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, FORD HAS STATED THAT THEY CAN NOT HELP WITH THE COST OF REPLACEMENT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT LATCHES AVAILABLE IN THE DALLAS AREA, AND IT WILL BE ALMOST A WEEK BEFORE A NEW LATCH WILL BE AVAILABLE. WE ALSO REQUESTED TO HAVE BOTH REAR LATCHES REPLACED BECAUSE I NO LONGER FEEL IT IS SAFE FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD SON TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH ITS ORIGINAL LATCHES, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR LATCHES ARE ON BACK ORDER AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST A MONTH.

THE POWER STEERING ON MY 2012 FORD FOCUS GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY, ONCE WHEN I WAS DRIVING, BUT THEN IT CAME BACK ON BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO STOP. USUALLY IT GOES OUT AS I BEGIN TO MOVE MY CAR AWAY FROM ITS PARKING PLACE. I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF, RESTART IT AND HOPE THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY.
