WHILE DRIVING MY CAR THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT ALL OF A SUDDEN AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER AN ERROR READ "STEERING FAULT SERVICE NOW". FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A SIDE ROAD AND ABLE TO PULL OVER AS I WAS PULLING OVER AN ERROR THEN READ "STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY". NOW I HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I'M EXTREMELY UPSET AT THE SITUATION AND HOW UNRELIABLE MY CAR HAS BECOME BC EVEN AFTER DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS I WILL BE NERVOUS. NOT TO MENTION HOW TERRIBLE THIS COULD'VE BEEN HAD I HAVE BEEN ON A BUSY ROAD WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
EVEN THOUGH TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BACK IN OCTOBER 2016, MARCH 2017 THE VEHICLE WAS HARD SHIFTING, AND NOT TAKING REVERSE. WAS TOLD 2ND, 3RD, AND REVERSE GEARS WERE BROKEN AND POWER TRAIN WENT BAD. ALTHOUGH EVERYTHING WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND ALL PARTS REPLACED. STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW POWER TRAIN AND GEARS BROKE WHEN A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED INTO THE VEHICLE LESS THAN A 1YR AGO.
ONE OF THE MANY INCIDENTS: WHILE AT A CITY STREET STOP SIGN, I PRESSED THE GAS, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE (THE ENGINE REVVED WITHOUT MOVING) I LET OFF THE GAS AND REAPPLIED PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE VEHICLE SLOWLY MOVED, THE VEHICLE GAVE A HARD JERK THEN THE VEHICLE MOVED AT A REASONABLE SPEED WITH THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET. THE VEHICLE HAS STUTTERED AND SHOOK WHILE DRIVING SINCE I OWNED THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE. I MENTIONED THE STUTTERING, JERKING AND SHAKING TO 3 FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS IN THE PAST. I WAS TOLD "THAT'S THE WAY THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE DRIVES", "THAT'S HOW THE TCM OPERATES" AND "THE VEHICLE SHIFTS LIKE A MANUAL CAR BUT OPERATES AS AN AUTOMATIC". MY QUESTION EACH TIME WAS "SO IT'S NORMAL THAT MY CAR SHAKES AND STUTTERS WHILE I'M DRIVING? THIS CAR JERKS TOO MUCH." I WAS TOLD EACH TIME "YES." THE INCIDENTS OF STUTTERING AND SHAKING HAVE BEEN VISIBLE FROM THE VEHICLE'S PURCHASE. THE HARD JERKS ARE OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY.
FIVE TIMES THIS CAR HAS COMPLETELY STOP AT 60MPH DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAY 494 MINNEAPOLIS,MN. STALLED 5 TIMES. THIS CAR HAS ALMOST KILLED ME 5 TIMES. ITS BEEN SERVICED 5 TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR A NEW CAR THAT WONT KILL ME. EVERY TIME ITS SERVICED THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES ME A FEE.
TAKATA RECALL THE VEHICLE SHUTTERS ON TAKE OFF AS WELL AS IT DOESN'T SHIFT SO THE ENGINE JUST REVS TILL YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND TRY TO GET IT TO SHIFT LIKE THAT. THE CLUTCH HAS GONE BAD ON ALL VEHICLES SO IT KEEPS DOING IT AND GETS WORSE AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON FREEWAY AND ON REGULAR ROADS BECAUSE IT LOOSES POWER WHEN IT SHUTTERS. IT DOES IT WHEN TURNING AS WELL AS EVEN JUST BEING AT A STOP LIGHT AND TRYING TO TAKE OFF. COST OVER 1,400$ TO REPAIR
I PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS USED WITH 86K MILES, UPON TAKING DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE WE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR JERKS AND BUCKS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR RECALLS TO BE FIXED, IN WHICH I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE FELL UNDER THE TCM MODULE RECALL. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING BACK TO CAMPUS AND THE CAR WAS BUCKING AND JUMPING AND THEN FINALLY CUTOFF WHILE DRIVING!!!
FORD FOCUS RECALL. HAD RECALL DONE MARCH 7, 2017. DRIVING CAR AT 65MPH ON FREEWAY I-45 SUDDEN LOST OF POWER LIKE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO NEUTRAL. HAD TO GET OFF TO RIGHT SHOULDER OF FREEWAY. TURNED OFF CAR WAITED 5 MINUTES TURNED ON CAR WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. TWO DAYS LATER DRIVING CAR 40 MPG SERVICE ROAD HWY183 LOST POWER AGAIN LIKE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL. SAME THING PULLED OFF ROAD AND TURN OFF ENGINE. TOOK CAR TO DEALER. THEY SAY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG.
THE TRANSMISSION IS UNSAFE. IT HAS SHUTTERED AND DOESN'T ALWAYS TAKE OFF WHEN YOU GIVE IT GAS. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC AND THE FORD DEALER FORD HAS TRIED 4 FIXES NONE OF WHICH HAVE WORKED. TO MY KNOWLEDGE NONE HAVE BEEN DONE TO MY CAR BECUASE BY THE TIME I AM NOTIFIED BY THE DEALER FORD ALREADY KNOWS THE FIX ISN'T WORKING AND STOPS SHIPPING THE PARTS. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND STARTED A CASE, THEY PROMISED ME I WOULD HEAR BACK IT HAS BEEN A MONTH AND NOTHING. WITHOUT PROPER SHIFTING AND KNOWING WHAT THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO DO IT IS NOT THE SAFE RELIABLE VEHICLE I HAD PLANNED FOR MY DAUGHTER. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO FIX IT OR REPLACE IT. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE LAST 20000 MILES AT LEAST AND AT VARYING SPEEDS. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 36000 MILES ON IT.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A SERVICE CAMPAIGN OR RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
THE CAR HAS A FAULTY CLUCH. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FOCUS. I BELIEVE THE DESIGN OF THE CLUCH WAS FAULTY. IT CAUSES THE CAR TO LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAS BEEN AN OUTGOING PROBLEM WITH THE CAR SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT.
I AM SPEAKING IN BEHALF OF MY WIFE [XXX] WHO IS THE REGULAR USER OF THE SAID CAR. MY NAME IS [XXX] THE HUSBAND OF [XXX]. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2017, MY WIFE CALLED ME FROM HER WORK THAT SHE SAID THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SAID CAR. SHE SAID THAT SHE ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN SHE WAS MAKING A TURN ON A SIGNAL LIGHT CROSSING THAT WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME STIFF (TOUGH) TO MANEUVER. SHE PANICKED WHAT TO DO AND SHE STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THAT BUSY CROSSING THAT OTHER DRIVER WERE CONFUSED THAT THEY HAVE SUDDEN STOP AS WELL ,BUT, FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS COMMITTED ACCIDENT. MY WIFE SAID, FOR A MINUTES AFTER, SHE MANAGED TO MOVED THE CAR AND DROVE BACK TO HER WORK PARKING AREA AS SHE STRUGGLED TO STEER THE CAR. I WENT TO CHECK THE CAR AND IT SAYS IN THE DASH BOARD " STEERING ASSIST FAULT .. SERVICE REQUIRED. THIS IS THE SCENARIO, THE CAR IS SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE. MY WIFE DEVELOP A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN WHAT SHE HAD EXPERIENCE VERY BADLY ON THAT INCIDENT . SHE DOES NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE CAR NO MORE FOR THE ANXIETY THAT MIGHT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF THAT THINGS HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE SHE IS DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY... OF WHICH MOST OF THE TIME SHE'S IN THE FREEWAY GOING TO WORK AND BACK HOME. INDEED, WHEN I TEST DROVE THE CAR, I CANT BELIEVE IT MYSELF THAT ALMOST YOU CAN NOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER AND HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED BY YOUR DEPARTMENT TO EVALUATE THE DEFECT OF THE CAR THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO DRIVE WHEN THAT " ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST " SHUT DOWN. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS SKEPTICAL OF HAVING THE DEALER DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT A PREVIOUS VEHICLE FAILURE WAS MIS-DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V514000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
WHEN VEHICLE IS IN A STOPPED POSITION AT FOR EX: A RED LIGHT AND YOU GIVE IT A LITTLE GAS TO MOVE - THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD OUT OF CONTROL - THE VEHICLE WILL ALSO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AND DECELERATE ON ITS OWN - AND GEARS ARE SPUTTERING - THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD - WAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD ITS OPERATING NORMALLY. AND THESE PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN - THERE ARE CURRENT CLASS ACTION SUITS AGAINST FORD FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS - MY DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORP REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE -
THE CAR STUTTERS TO START MOVING. THE TRANSMISSION IS STUCK. IT TAKES A LOT OF RPM TO GET THE CAR MOVING FROM A STOP OR START. I HAVE HAD AN EPISODE WHERE THE CAR ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ARE AWARE OF THE STUTTERING AND ARE DOING NOTHING FOR THAT. THEY CAN FIND NO REASON MY CAR TOOK OF ON ITS OWN. I FEEL THAT THE DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION THEY KNOW ABOUT. AND WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I AM JUST GETTING FRUSTRATING WHY THEY WON'T DISCUSS THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THANK YOU.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered and jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions however, the dealer failed to duplicate the failure. The contact was eventually informed that the transmission clutch was defective, causing transmission failure. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
WELL ON FEBRUARY 18, 2017 I PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS SE FROM LEWIS TOYOTA IN TOPEKA, KS. THE CAR I TRADED IN, (2004 LEXUS) I TOLD THEM HOW UNHAPPY I WAS BECAUSE THE GENTLEMAN WHO SOLD IT TO ME SAID HE DID A CAR FAX ON IT BUT DID NOT. I SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A COPY. THERE WAS A MAJOR RECALL ON IT! SINCE 2011. I PURCHASED IT IN 2016. WELL THE 2004 FORD FOCUS HAS AN OPEN RECALL. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW SO I WAS TOLD TO SELL A CALL WITH AN OPEN RECALL. I BROUGHT IT TO THE SELLERS ATTENTION. HE SAID IT HAD BEEN TAKEN CARE OF OR THAT IT WASN'T THAT BAD. WELL, DOOR LATCH? DRIVER'S DOOR COMING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. PROVEN INCIDENTS. I CALL THAT A PROBLEM.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
QUITE OFTEN MY CAR SHUTTERS WHEN I START TO TAKE OFF OR GO UP AN INCLINE. THE SHIFTING SEEMS TO WIND OUT LONGER THAN IT SHOULD WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO SPEED UP. I ALSO EXPERIENCE A ROLLBACK WHEN ON A HILL WHILE STOPPED. THE SHUTTERING AND THESE OTHER ISSUES HAVE BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AT A FORD DEALERSHIP IN FEB, 2017.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE FAILURE CAUSED A LEAN CONDITION IN THE ENGINE AND CAUSED THE OXYGEN SENSOR TO FAIL. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE AT THE DEALER. HOWEVER, DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE IDLED AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND AN OVERHEATING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH WARNED THE CONTACT TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ONCE AGAIN AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A CHAFED WIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD TAKE THE CONTACT'S INFORMATION AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
MY DOOR FLEW OPEN. NO ONE WAS HURT BUT WE DEFINITELY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED EVEN. I GOOGLED IT AND FOUND OUT OTHERS PEOPLE'S CARS WERE BREAKING TO, AND THERE WAS A RECALL. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE OUT OF PARTS TO REPAIR IT. SO I BOUGHT THE WHOLE DOOR OFF OF EBAY AND MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE WHOLE DOOR. THEN TODAY, A POSTCARD COME SON THE MAIL FORM FORD SAYING THAT THEY WILL FIX OUR CAR. WAY TOO LATE NOW, IT BROKE MONTHS AGO.

THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE GASKET ON THE FUEL TANK SEIZED, WHICH CAUSED LIMITED AMOUNT OF FUEL TO ENTER THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CAR SHUDDERS AND HESITATES WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AT ANY TIME. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT SHUDDERS AND HESITATES. AT A STOP SIGN ON A HILL THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY GO BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING WHEN TRYING TO GO FORWARD AFTER A STOP. THIS HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY HAPPENING SINCE FEBRUARY 2017. WE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO DRIVE THIS WAY AS WE DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO FIX FORDS FAULTY TRANSMISSION.
PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WAS SLIPPING, BUCKING, JERKING, AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSIONS CAUSED DELAYED ACCELERATION AND DELAYS IN DOWNSHIFTS, CUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC.
MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 57K MILES AND THE VEHICLE FLUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. IT DOES NOT SPEED UP NORMALLY. I FEAR THAT WHEN SWITCHING LANES OR LEAVING A STOP SIGN/RED LIGHT I COULD POSSIBLY GET REAR ENDED DUE TO THE CAR NOT SPEEDING UP LIKE IT SHOULD. IT SHAKES AND RATTLES WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO GO ANYWHERE. WHILE DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL IS ALSO MAKES A LOUD NOISE. WHEN ON HIGHWAY, IT WON'T SPEED UP AT TIMES OR IT GOES WAY BELOW SPEED LIMITS. CARS HONK THEIR HORNS AT ME AS IT APPEARS THAT IM NOT TRYING TO GO ANYWHERE. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 09/2016.
GOOD AFTERNOON, MY FAMILY AND I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD 2014 FORD FOCUS THAT WE BOUGHT BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT TO AVOID THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH USED CARS. 2 WEEKS AGO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND LOSE POWER AND THEN EVENTUALLY TURNED OFF WHILE IN MOTION. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND QUICKLY BEGAN TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES. EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. THERE APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE FOCUS TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP STATE THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND SUGGESTED WE DRIVE MORE AGGRESSIVELY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IMMEDIATELY WE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS THIS IS CLEARLY A BIGGER ISSUE THAN JUST MY CAR. FMC STATES THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PROVE THAT ANYTHING HAPPENED AND THERE ARE NO CODES. NO CODES=NO PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE ANY FURTHER. THEN NEXT TIME MY CAR STOPS COULD BE IN FRONT OF ANOTHER CAR AND CAN KILL SOMEONE. FORD IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE AND IS PUTTING MY FAMILY AND MANY OTHER FAMILY'S LIVES IN DANGER. PLEASE HELP ME. OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS, THE VEHICLE DISPLAYS "STOP SAFELY NOW" AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SHUT OFF IMMEDIATELY AFTER OR SOON AFTER THE MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED AND THE CAR HAS COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS OCCURS AT LOW CITY SPEEDS (20-30 MPH) AS WELL AS HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60-70 MPH) LEAVING THE DRIVER AND IT'S OCCUPANTS SITTING VULNERABLE TO BEING HIT BY MOVING TRAFFIC. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHILE BRAKING TO SLOW OR STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED 15-20 TIMES OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS. WE HAVE BROUGHT IN THE CAR FOR SERVICE FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM 3-4 TIMES EACH TIME BEING TOLD THAT THIS IS DUE TO VARIOUS REASONS (HARNESS, LOOSE CONNECTIONS, FAULTY CIRCUITS, ETC.). NO FIXES TO DATE HAVE PERMANENTLY FIXED THE PROBLEM. USUALLY, THE PROBLEM IS TEMPORARILY RESOLVED WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO STOP, IT'S PLACED IN "PARK" AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO, IT CAN BE RESTARTED AS NORMAL. HOWEVER, SEEING AS THOUGH THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AT ANY SPEED, TAKING THE WORKAROUND STEPS DESCRIBED IS UNACCEPTABLE ON THE HIGHWAY OR AT INTERSECTIONS WHERE CAR OCCUPANTS CAN BE STRUCK AT ANY MOMENT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC GIVEN THE FREQUENCY OF THE ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE LE TRANSMISSION SLIPS DURING TAKEOFF FROM A STOP. THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD THEN FEELS LIKE IT WILL STALL. ATTEMPTS TO CHANGE DRIVING HABITS HAS NO EFFECT. IT FEELS UNSAFE WHEN TRYING TO TURN FROM A STOP. THIS OCCURRED MOSTLY DURING CITY DRIVING IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE ACCELERATING DURING MERGING INTO FREEWAY TRAFFIC. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FOR MY 2014 FORD FOCUS. I HAVE HAD IT WORKED ON OR REPLACED THREE TIMES, AND AM STILL EXPERIENCING ISSUES. AFTER REPLACEMENT, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL IS VERY SLUGGISH, AND THEN IT STARTS EXPERIENCING SUBSTANTIAL CLUTCH SHUDDER (SHAKING WITH SHIFTING) WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT PROPOSED ANY ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS. I SEE THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT ABOUT THIS, AND ALSO A RECALL. ATTEMPTING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE NEXT STEPS SHOULD BE TO RESOLVE THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION MODULE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BOTTOM AIR BAG DEPLOYED; HOWEVER, THE TOP DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN FEB 27 2015. THE CAR WOULD SHUTTER CLIMBING HILLS AND ON TAKE OFF. WE TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPT. AND WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG 2 TIMES. FINALLY ON 09/2015 THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED. THE PROBLEM STARTED UP AGAIN TOOK IT BACK IN 11/15 AND THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. THE PROBLEM CAME BACK AGAIN 5/2016 THEY DID ANOTHER SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED SO THEY INSTALLED UPDATED CLUTCHES AND SOFTWARE UPDATE.THE PROBLEM CAME BACK AGAIN ON 12/2016 WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED , THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR AND ONCE AGAIN WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. IT IS NOW 01/2016 AND ONCE AGAIN THE PROBLEM IS BACK. TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN .THE SERVICE TECH THAT TEST DROVE THE CAR WITH ME TOLD ME YEP IT IS SHUTTERING AGAIN AND TOLD ME TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THEN PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR UNTIL IT HITS 4TH GEAR THEN LET UP AND REPEAT IT ONE MORE TIME AND THAT WOULD CLEAN THE DUST OFF THE CLUTCHES. SO ONE AGAIN I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS TRANSMISSION SERVICED AGAIN. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE MORE THAN WILLING TO TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM . NOW WHEN WE CONTACT THEM WE ARE TREATED LIKE WE ARE MAKING THIS UP.WE CALLED THEM A WEEK AGO AND A WOMAN BY THE NAME OF [XXX] AT [XXX] EXT [XXX] WAS SUPPOSED TO CONTACT ME WITHIN 24 HOURS. I STILL HAVE NOT TALKED TO HER AND I CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES AD LEFT MESSAGES. INSTEAD SOMEONE ELSE CONTACTED US AND PROCEEDED TO TELL US THE SHUTTERING WAS NORMAL. WHEN I TOLD THEM THIS WAS NOT NORMAL AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED AT LEAST 2 ACCIDENTS AND I WAS READY TO GET A LAWYER I WAS TOLD IF I GOT A LAWYER MY CASE WOULD BE CLOSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER DID NOT INDICATE A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
WHEN PRESSING GAS FROM A STOP THE CAR SHUTTERS CAUSING A STALLING THEN JERKING MOTION.
TRANSMISSION FAULT: AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICHLE BEGAN TO SWERVE AND SLOW DOWN. AS I TRIED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL I ATTEMPTED TO GIVE THE CAR GAS BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO HIT THE FLASHERS AND CARS BEHIND ME WENT AROUND. TRANSMISSION FAULT APPEARED IN THE INFO SCREEN. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2014 AND HAS ALWAYS HAD A STUTTER AND SHAKE DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. ALSO WHEN PUTTING IT IN GEAR A GRINDING SOUND IS HEARD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY "OH IT JUST TAKES GETTING USED TO". THEY HAVE ALSO CLAIMED TO "RESET" IT. WITH THE CAR STOPPING AND SWERVING I WAS VERY FORTUNATE NOT TO BE IN A SEVER ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT NEAR THE TURNPIKE AND LARGE SEMIS AND HEAVY TRAFFIC WERE AROUND. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE ROADSIDE AND CALL FOR HELP. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON TRANSMISSION UNTIL 100,000. BUT THIS PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS. IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP. SEVERAL THOUSAND COMPLAINTS AND LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN FILED. (SEE ATTACHMENT)
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 MINUTES, I THOUGHT I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AFTER STOPPING AT A STOPLIGHT ON A MAJOR FOUR LANE ROAD IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WHEN I STARTED TURNING LEFT ONTO A WINDY TWO LANE HIGHWAY, I INITIALLY DIDN'T HEAR A GRINDING NOISE, AND THEN DISTINCTLY HEARD IT AS I COMPLETED THE TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY LOOSE, THEN SUDDENLY EXTREMELY TIGHT AND VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT ON THE ROAD PLACING ME IN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP BY MY HOUSE AND WAS UNABLE TO REACH THEM. AFTER CALLING THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO LAST SERVICED MY VEHICLE, I WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY AND BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHILE DRIVING. HE STATED THERE MAY BE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERING REPAIR. I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BY MY HOUSE WHO INFORMED ME OF THE DOOR LATCH RECALL AS WELL. AFTER BEING TOLD THE NEXT DAY THE POWER STEERING RACK/GEARBOX WAS DEFECTIVE AND IT WOULD BE $1800 TO REPAIR, I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO WAS OF NO SERVICE. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A FORD REGIONAL MANAGER OFFERING FOR ME TO PAY A PORTION OF THE COST. I DECLINED AND REQUESTED SPEAKING WITH THEIR SUPERVISOR BASED ON THIS BEING A PROBLEM FORD IS AWARE OF AND HAS YET TO RECONCILE. FURTHERMORE, FORD PLACED RESPONSIBILITY ON THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN OFFER FOR REPAIR WHEN THIS IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN THE ONLY REASONABLE AND UNDERSTANDING ENTITY TO DATE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW TO GET ME TO AND FROM WORK, AND EVENTUALLY GIVE TO MY 17 DAUGHTER. I'M ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY AND APPALLED FORD HAS THE AUDACITY TO NOT REPAIR A LIFE THREATENING ISSUE. THE 2014 FORD FOCUS ONLY HAS ONE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE FRONT MIDDLE PANEL NEAR THE RADIO CONTROLS. THERE ARE NO MANUAL LOCK/UNLOCK MECHANISMS ON ANY OF THE DOORS - IF A CRASH OCCURED, HOW WOULD ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT BE ABLE TO GET OUT IF THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO PUSH THE BUTTON FOR THEM? THAT SEEMS LIKE AN UNSAFE DECISION FOR A VEHICLE MADE FOR MULTIPLE PASSENGERS. SECOND, OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER, I HAVE SWITCHED THE WIPERS ON TO FIND THAT THEY HESITATE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE FINALLY WIPING THE WINDSHIELD. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME, BUT I EXPECT THEM TO MOVE WHEN I TURN THEM ON, NOT A FEW SECONDS LATER. IN THE RAIN, A FEW SECONDS OF NON-VISIBILITY CAN BE DANGEROUS- EVEN MORE SO IF IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT THE NEXT TIME. ARE THESE ELECTRICAL ISSUES? COULD THE UNLOCK FEATURE BE AN ELECTRICAL IF FOR ANY REASON THE BATTERY GOES OR HITS WATER?
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
STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED TWICE, ONCE IN TRAFFIC. THIS POSED A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND THE VEHICLE. FAILURE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT CONTACT WITH CURB ON ROADSIDE. SPEED WAS APP. 35 MPH. OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY 100 IN MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI. SECOND FAILURE HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER FORD DEALER REPROGRAMED STEERING SYSTEM DUE TO INTERMITTENT STEERING FAILURES. DURING THIS INSTANCE STEERING FAILED WHEN CAR WAS STARTED (THIS HAPPENED JUST PRIOR TO THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ISSUE WHICH WAS THE STEERING FAILURE IN TRAFFIC). CAR WAS LESS THAN 1,000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY THUS CAUSING SIGNIFICANT OUT OF POCKET REPAIRS COSTS.
MY FOCUS HESITATES WHEN HITTING GAS AFTER I'VE BEEN STOPPED. IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO HESITATE. IT'S ALSO DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ON HILLY ROADS. THERE'S NO POWER AND IT FEELS LIKE I'M GOING TO STALL. FORD TELLS ME THERE IS NO RECALL BUT I SEE PLENTY OF WEBSITES WHERE PEOPLE ARE VOICING THEIR COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. SOMETIMES THE CAR WON'T GO IN REVERSE WHEN I'M PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY REPAIR FOR THE DUAL CLUTCH AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

HE SAID ALL HE NEEDED WAS THE LAST PLACE WE TOOK IT TO WHICH I TOLD HIM PARKS OF WESLEY CHAPEL. TRACTION CONTROL IS A HAZARD, WHEN YOU NEED POWER TO THE WHEELS AND THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES YOU HAVE ZERO POWER. WHILE GOING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE WITH SNOW ON THE SURFACE THE WHEELS SPUN BRIEFLY AND ENGAGED THE TRACTION CONTROL, LOST ALL POWER TO THE FRONT WHEELS AND HAD TO BACK DOWN. TALKING WITH THE DEALER THEY SAID IT IS NORMAL, NOT SAFE, BUT NORMAL. NOW, YOU CAN TURN THE TC OFF BUT REQUIRES MULTIPLE STEPS WITH PROGRAMMING SWITCH IN THE STEERING WHEEL, PLUS, EVERY TIME YOU TURN VEHICLE OFF IT RESETS TC TO ON. THERE NEEDS TO AN EASY ACCESS SWITCH TO TURN TC OFF WHILE DRIVING OR AT THE VERY LEAST, FORD NEEDS TO REPROGRAM THE VEHICLES SO WHEN YOU TURN TC OFF, IT STAYS OFF UNTIL YOU TURN BACK ON. LOOSING POWER IN TRAFFIC ON A HILL COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AND AT THE BEST CAUSES YOU TO BACK DOWN. *TR
