TRANSMISSION WILL CHATTER AND CLANK AT TIMES WHEN SHIFTING OUT OF FIRST GEAR. BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2019 AND STARTED MAKING SMALL CLANKING NOISES A FEW DAY AFTER BUYING IT.
BOTH OF MY CLUTCHES WENT OUT IN EARLY 2019, IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAD TO PAY $3300 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT. NOW THEY'RE BEING RECALLED IN AUGUST 2019 FOR THIS? I SHOULD GET REIMBURSED FOR THIS.
HAD A RECALL FOR A FUEL TANK ISSUE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP PERFORMED AND INSPECTION AND IT PASSED. NOTHING ELSE WAS DONE. NOW, I AM HAVING THE ISSUES WITH MY FUEL TANK AS NOTED IN THE RECALL, HOWEVER, BECAUSE THE INSPECTION PASSED, THE RECALL WAS CANCELLED AND FORD WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE HAS THEY NOTED IT ORIGINALLY. I HAD NO ISSUES WITH THE FUEL TANK UNTIL AFTER IT WAS INSPECTED BUT NOW FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE THEY KNOW MY CAR HAS
ON 3/21/19 WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED. THE DOOR JUST POPPED OPEN, I WAS DRIVING IN AN INTERSECTION OF A BUSY STREET AND ABOUT TO MAKE A TURN WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IT WAS TERRIFYING AND I BARELY MISSED AN ACCIDENT. LUCKILY I WAS RIGHT BY A GAS STATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I REQUESTED THAT THE DEALERSHIP EXAMINE ALL 4 DOORS AS I WAS AFRAID THIS MIGHT RECUR. ON 4/14/19 THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED, ONLY THIS TIME IT WAS THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER SEAT. THE DOOR POPPED OPEN WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT SHUT. I TOOK THE CAR STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I WAS TOLD THIS COULD BE A CHILD SAFETY LOCK ISSUE, YET I DO NOT USE THIS FEATURE, AS I DO NOT HAVE SMALL CHILDREN. I HAVE REQUESTED THAT ALL LATCHES ON ALL DOORS BE REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I ALSO HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES (STALLING) WHICH DEALER STATES IS RESOLVED, AND AN ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANK THAT I WAS TOLD WAS A RECALL THEN NOT? WHAT IS IT? IS THE GAS TANK A RECALL OR NOT? ID MY CAR DEFECTIVE & SAFE TO DRIVE?
TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SLIPS, CAR STUTTERS ON ACCELERATIONS, CLUNKY SOUND. (GOOGLE IT) WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS, FORD IS AWARE, BUT BEEN TO DEALERS TWICE, THEY WON'T FIX, BECAUSE FORD WON'T PAY! DANGEROUS IF CAR STUTTERS & YOU NEED TO GO!
BESIDE THE TWO SAFETY RECALLS 18V-735 AND 19V-515 THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR WHICH WHEN IT RAINS ALL THE RAIN WATER PENETRATES THE BACK DOOR OF THE CAR AND IT STAYS THERE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND ITS NEGLIGEANCE AND FRAUD. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE MIGHT BE A SAFETY RISK AND IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. AFTER THE RECALLS AND THE POOR REPAIRS THE CAR STILL UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEM IS IRREPARABLE WHICH MEANS THIS CAR WILL NEVER BE SAFE TO DRIVE AND EVERYDAY I DRIVE IT TO WORK WHENEVER I STOP IN A HILL AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN I HEAR NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND IF IT HAPPENED THAT I STOPPED SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HILL DUE TO TRAFFIC THE CAR LOSSES ITS POWER AND BARELY MOVES FORWARD ( LOSS OF POWER DUE TO FAULTY TRANSMISSION)THIS ISSUE CAUSED ME AN ACCIDENT EARLY THIS YEAR WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER UP HILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD . THE CONCLUSION IS MY CAR AND ALL 2017 FORD FOCUS ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE . I BELIEVE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THIS GARBAGE CAR DECEIVED ALL OF US AND COMMITTED A BIG FRAUD . I THINK IT IS TIME FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO OPEN AN INVESTIGATION AND FORCE THEM BY LAW TO BUY THEIR GARBAGE CARS BACK . UNTIL THIS MOMENT I STILL BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO ONE ABOVE THE LAW. AFTER SEVERAL START/RESTART CYCLES THE CAR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ISSUES THE FOLLOWING CODES: P0300, P0316. IT HAS A ROUGH IDLE AND THE RPMS WILL STAY ELEVATED ANYWHERE FROM 1500-2200 RPM WITHOUT THE THROTTLE BEING PRESSED.
PURCHASED CAR NEW FROM DEALERSHIP. AT 14,500 MILES (APPROX.) GOING DOWN FREEWAY CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF AND WOULD NOT IDLE DOWN. WHEN IN PARK, RPM'S WERE BETWEEN 3000 AND 4000 AND REMAINED THAT WAY. PARKED CAR AT DEALERSHIP, WHEN THEY CHECKED IT, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. RECEIVED CAR BACK AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL 29015 MILES AND SAME THING HAPPENED. GOING DOWN FREEWAY, THE CAR ACCELERATED UP TO 85 MPH ON ITS OWN AND WOULD NOT IDLE DOWN. WHEN IN PARK, RPM'S WERE BETWEEN 3000 AND 4000 AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN. EXITED FREEWAY NEVER PUTTING MY FOOT ON GAS PEDDLE. WAS GOING DOWN 5 LANE HWY. AT 55 MPH WITH FOOT ON BRAKE CONSTANTLY. PULLED INTO PARKING LOT A POLICEMAN WAS STANDING THERE. I ASKED HIM TO COME OVER TO LOOK AT ISSUE. HE THOUGHT MY FOOT WAS ON GAS. I THEN OPENED MY DOOR AND HUNG MY FEET OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. HIS STATEMENT WAS "'THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS''. I TOOK VIDEO SHOWING RPM'S AT 3500 AND SPEED ODOMETER AT ZERO. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP, DROPPED OFF FOR WEEKEND. WHEN THEY CHECKED THE CAR ON MONDAY MORNING THEY COULD AGAIN NOT DUPLICATE IT. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR FIVE DAYS, NUMEROUS PEOPLE DRIVING THE CAR BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT. THEY TELL ME IF THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE IT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE VIDEO. I LOVE THE CAR BUT I TAKE MY LIFE IN MY HANDS WHEN I DRIVE IT AND I STILL OWE QUITE A BIT OF MONEY ON IT. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE...PLEASE HELP!
CAR STUTTERED WHEN GEAR SHIFTED FROM 1ST TO 2ND. CAR STOOD ACCELATATING WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO OVERHEAT. TRANSMISSION NOW IS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT INCLUDE HESITATING, SHUTTERING, AND WHAT FEELS TO BE CLUTCH SLIPPING WITH THEIR "NEW" DOUBLE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. THIS HAPPENS PERIODICALLY WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP AND USUALLY SHUTTERS THE WHOLE CAR THROUGH 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FALL OUT OF THE CAR. ALONG WITH THE HESITATION AND VIOLENT SHUTTERING I'M WORRIED TO DRIVE MY CAR THAT HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. I'VE HEARD OF MANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG AND HOW TO FIX IT.
CAR HAD PROBLEMS WITH DRIVER SEAT NOT CLOTHING IN RIGHT AND SOMETIMES MOVES BACK WHILE DRIVING. SEATBELTS DO NOT WANT TO CLICK RIGHT AND HAVE TO PUSH IN MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE YOU CAN FASTEN BELTS. WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSMISSION STALLS AND JERKS FORWARD AND VEHICLE SOMETIMES SHAKES WHILE DRIVING. DOES NOT WANT TO PICK UP SORRY EITHER.
THE 2017 FORD FOCUS S WITH UNDER 26,000 MILES HAS A STEERING ISSUE. THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK AND IS HARD TO STEER, WON'T RETURN TO NEUTRAL POSITION WITHOUT BEING FORCED BACK, AND IS UNSTABLE AT MID AND HIGH SPEEDS. THERE IS A SOUND THAT IS STARTING TO PRESENT ITSELF, SIMILAR TO A ROOFER HAMMERING NAILS, THAT COMES FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL AT LOWER SPEEDS. FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM SUDDENLY WHEN PULLING OUT FROM MY STREET PARKING. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STUCK IN ITS NEUTRAL POSITION, AND STEERING HARD TO THE LEFT THERE WAS A POP WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL RELEASED FROM ITS NEUTRAL POSITION. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT AND SUBSEQUENT STEERING ISSUES, WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT 15-25 MILES PER HOUR, THERE WAS A ROLLING AND SWIRLING SENSATION GOING INTO THE TURN, ALMOST LIKE SOMETHING WAS NOT ENTIRELY CONNECTED IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SLIGHTLY DETECTABLE ISSUE WAS NOTICED 100% OF THE TIME, EACH TIME I EXITED THE FREEWAY. IT FELT LIKE I WAS LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS THE CAR ENTERED AND EXITED THE TURN, WHICH WAS NOT ATTRIBUTABLE TO TIRE SLIPPAGE. FELT LIKE IT WAS FROM THE SUSPENSION.
back-up camera fails intermitadey, about 70% of the time. Failure of the camera increases risk to pedestrians and rear cross traffic. Independant service center confirms the failure and thinks this should be a recall. There are no warning lamps when the camera fails. The problem started in 2019.
MY CAR IS REVING UP BY ITSELF AND THROTTLE IS STICKING MY CAR IS IN DEALERSHIP CURRENTLY FOR 4TH TIME AND THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN I AM STOPPED OR GOING. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I ALMOST WRECKED IT LAST WEEK AFTER THE 3RD TIME I PICKED IT UP FRO. DEALERSHIP

No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the dual-clutch. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 20,000.
SHUDDERING WHILE ACCELERATING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AT FIRST THIS ONLY HAPPENED ON OCCASION (APPROXIMATELY 6,600 MILES) AND I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS RUNNING THE A/C IN THE CAR. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE TO WHERE IT WAS OCCURRING CONSTANTLY. I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALER AND THEY "REPROGRAMMED" THE TCM. THAT LASTED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND IT STILL CONTINUES TO THIS DAY. THIS MORNING WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION ACTED LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL, I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND THE RPM'S WENT UP TO 7000. I VERIFIED THAT THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND THAT IT WASN'T KNOCKED OUT OF GEAR. I CALLED FORD SERVICE AGAIN AND I AM TAKING THE CAR INTO SERVICE THIS AFTERNOON. THEY STATED THAT THE TCM NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED AGAIN. THESE ARE THE SAME ISSUES THAT THE PREVIOUS FOCUS OWNERS REPORTED IN 2016 CARS AND OLDER. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 18,000 MILES ON IT.
ANYTIME I TRY TO MAKE ANY SORT OF TURN IN THIS VEHICLE, TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO THE TURN I ESSENTIALLY GET STALLED OUT EVEN THOUGH THE GAS PEDAL IS ENGAGED AND TRYING TO POWER THE VEHICLE TO MAKE THE TURN. IT BECOMES A DANGEROUS ASPECT ESPECIALLY WHEN IT STARTS TO BECOME BUSY ON A MAIN CITY STREET AND THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO WHILE TRYING TO MAKE THE TURN. MY VEHICLE CAN START TO MAKE THE TURN AND THEN START TO STALL OUT AS I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN, AND THEN IT WILL SIT THERE FOR A SECOND UNTIL THERE ARE INBOUND CARS COMING AND THEN IT'LL CONTINUE TO MAKE THE TURN AFTER STALLING FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS. IT'S BECOME A CONCERN BECAUSE IT NOW COMES DOWN TO WAITING UNTIL THE ROADWAY IS EMPTY AND FULL TO MAKE A SAFE TURN. ON TOP OF THAT, IF I'M GOING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 8 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR, MY CAR STARTS TO STUTTER AT LOW SPEEDS. NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT THE CASES FOR THAT, BUT IT HAS RAISED SOME EYEBROWS AND SOME CONCERNS TO MYSELF WITH THAT BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IF IT STARTS TO STUTTER AND STALLS OUT COMPLETELY OR DISABLES THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND HATCHBACK I'VE PURCHASED THROUGH FORD, AND IT'S THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER HAD ANY SORT OF ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I JUST DON'T WANT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN WHILE I'M DRIVING OR TRYING TO MAKE ANY SORT OF TURNS FROM A MAIN STREET TO A SIDE STREET INSTALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROADWAY AND POSSIBLY GET HIT FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ESPECIALLY GOING THROUGH ANY SORT OF SCHOOL ZONES WHEN IT'S CLEARLY MARKED TO GO 15 MILES AN HOUR OR BELOW. I WOULD RECOMMEND LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE, BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS HAPPENED VERY FREQUENTLY WITH A FEW OTHER 2017 FOCUS'S.
REAR WINDSHIELD BUSTED WITHOUT ANY OBJECTS HITTING IT. I HAD JUST TURNED OFF THE REAR DEFROST AND REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND THE EDGES OF THE GLASS SHATTERED. I WAS DRIVING IN MOTION ON MY NEIGHBORHOOD STREET IN A STRAIGHT AHEAD PATH. IT WILL COST $200 FOR SOMEONE TO COME REPLACE IT.
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE OCTOBER OF 2017, AND HAVE ALREADY HAD TO GET THE CLUTCH REPLACED ONCE. THIS IS THE SELECT SHIFT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND EVEN THOUGH FORD HAS REPLACED THE CLUTCH ONCE ALREADY, I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH WHAT SEEMS LIKE THE CLUTCH SLIPPING WHICH IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER/JERK WHEN GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND (ACCELERATING). IT HAS STARTED OCCURRING MORE OFTEN THAN NOT AND I HAVE TAKEN THEN VEHICLE BACK INTO TO FORD MANY TIMES FOR THEM TO JUST TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE, AND THE SLIPPING IS 'NORMAL' FOR THIS TRANSMISSION. I DRIVE THIS CAR ON A DAILY BASIS TO AND FROM WORK AND WHAT IT IS DOING DOES NOT SEEM NORMAL. YOU CAN ALSO HEAR IT CLUNK WHEN DECELERATING WHEN APPROACHING INTERSECTIONS.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed her that the vehicle was working as designed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to replicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V845000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was contacted and referred her to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AND JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OCCASIONALLY. IT IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT I HAD IN THE 2013 FOCUS WE OWNED BEFORE THIS ONE THAT WAS RECALLED AND REPLACED 3 TIMES BY 100K MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE ALL TOGETHER AND UPON INVESTIGATION HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THIS WILL BECOME A RECALL ISSUE AS WELL. IT IS VERY DISTURBING TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION OR A PARKING LOT AND WONDER IF YOUR CAR IS GOING TO ACTUALLY ACCELERATE, BLOW THE TRANSMISSION, OR IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO SHUTTER AND BE PART OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
THE ENGINE STALLS OUT WHICH IS DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 20 TO 258 MILES PER HOUR MERGING WITH TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT A SPEED NO MORE THAN 50 MPH AND NO LESS THAN 30 MPH, ON A MAJOR THOROUGH FARE STATE HIGHWAY 210 IN DOTHAN ALABAMA.
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL 18S32/NHTSA RECALL 18V-735 IN DECEMBER 2018.I HAVE NOT HEARD ON WHAT TO DO OR WHEN TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER IS ALREADY LEAKING. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 27000 MILES ON IT. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT FOR A LONG WHILE...AT LEAST 100000 MILES.
MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A STOP AND SWITCHING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THOSE SECONDS WERE CRUCIAL AS ANOTHER CAR WAS APPROACHING FROM BEHIND TRAVELING UP TO SPEED.
RECALL 18S32 I AM RESPONDING ON BEHALF OF [XXX] WHO HAS BEEN MY SONS GIRLFRIEND FOR 16 YEARS. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO COLLEY FORD, 1945 AUTO CENTER DR. GLENDORA CA DECEMBER 19,2018 FOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED PCM CLEARED ALL CNDTCS. PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO COLLEY FORD ON NOVEMBER 11, 2019 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. COLLEY FORD STATED THEY CAN NOT REPAIR THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY SINCE UNDER THE VIN IT SHOWS A REPAIR WAS ALREADY DONE. TO DATE FORD HAS NOT SENT [XXX] A PARTS ARE AVAILABLE NOTICE. 2-9-2020 RECEIVED NHTSA TRACKING# 11308051 I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK ON THE MATTER, FORD RECALL 18S32 CAR WAS "ONLY RE-PROGRAMMED" 12/2018 PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT THAT TIME, FORD NEVER SENT A LETTER STATING PARTS WERE AVAILABLE THE FAULTY PURGE VALVE WAS NOT REPLACED CAUSING THE CAR STILL TO CONTINUE HAVING ISSUES 11/21/19 RECEIVED EMAIL STATING "IF YOUR VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR WHICH YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE REMEDY FOR BUT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A FAILURE WITH YOUR VEHICLE THAT RELATES TO THE PREVIOUS RECALL, YOU MAY FILE A COMPLAINT REGARDING YOUR FAILURE AND REFERENCING THE RECALL. TRIED FOR 10-15 MINUTES TO RESTART, FINALLY RESTARTED AND COMPLETED COMMUTE TO WORK. DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER SAME DAY. AFTER ONE WEEK, DEALER HAS NO DIAGNOSIS AND HAS MADE NO REPAIR. I CANNOT DRIVE AN UNSAFE CAR ON MY DAILY COMMUTE, WHICH INCLUDES HIGHWAY DRIVING. FORD IS OBVIOUSLY ON NOTICE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND THEY HAVEN'T FIXED IT.

Good Morning, I hope you are having an amazing day , I first financed this car in 2018 but the car was made in 2017. I searched my vin number to see if my car was a part of the recall list and was not. I have been getting a code P1450 since about 40,000 miles, my car has been stalling upon acceleration since I got it. and I had the part replaced, a year and a half later the code popped up again and I got the part repaired and still the same issues, after the part has been repaired as well as a PCM issue is now happening. My car shudders between the 1 and 2 on the acceleration , this has been happening since I got the car but the salesman told me that this was not an issue and it was normal for the fords to do this. I have been having issues with my car starting up in the mornings mainly a lag in the ignition. I believe my car should have been a part of that list but was not. Please investigate
