DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 97 AT 65 MPH SHIFT TO 6 GEAR AND CLUTCH PETAL STUCK TO FLOOR, SMELL OF CLUTCH BURNING , PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD TURNED CAR OFF. REACH DOWN AND TRY TO PULL CLUTCH PETAL BACK UP AND IT WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. WAITED 30 MIN, TRY AGAIN, COULD NOT PULL IT UP. CALL FOR TOW TRUCK.. CALL BOB BELL FORD SERVICE DEPT. THEY STATED IT A WEAR PART AND IT WAS NOT COVER BY WARRANTY, I TOLD THEM WITH ONLY 1896 MILES ON IT, THEY STATED AGAIN IT A WEAR PART. I CALL FORD CUSTERMER SERVICE AND THEY GAVE ME A COMPLAINT NUMBER AND GOT BACK WITH ME AND THEY SAID NOT COVERED IT A WEAR PART.
THIS 2017 FOCUS WAS BROUGHT BRAND NEW. WHEN IT HIT ABOUT 1500 MILES, IT BEGAN TO SHUTTER AND SHAKE UNDER THE HOOD UPON ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENED AT STOP SIGNS OR ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENS WITH ANY SORT OF ACCELERATION. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STRAIGHT, LIKE ACCELERATING FROM A "STOPPED" POSITION AT A STOP SIGN WHEN IT IS MY TURN TO GO. IT ALSO HAS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS "NORMAL" WITH THESE CARS. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD IF THEY CHECKED IT OUT & IT WAS DETERMINED THIS WAS A "NORMAL" SHUTTER WITH THESE CARS, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR TIME. NOT ABLE TO AFFORD THAT, I DID NOT HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. AT ABOUT 2500 MILES, I WAS PASSING A VEHICLE AND WHILE IN THE OPPOSITE LANE, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUTTER & STALL. ME & CHILD WERE NEARLY HIT HEAD ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY KEPT IT TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY KEPT IT A WEEK. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS INDEED THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION AND CURRENTLY, FORD HAD NO RECALLS AND THEREFORE THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. THE DEALERSHIP DONE WHAT THEY COULD DO AS FAR AS WHAT MY FORD WARRANTY WOULD PAY FOR. BASICALLY, I'M STUCK PAYING FOR A CAR THAT, AT TIMES, IS UNSAFE. I CAN'T PULL OUT ON THE ROAD OR PASS A VEHICLE BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL BE TIME THE THAT MY CAR SHUTTERS AND WE ARE HIT HEAD ON. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, FORD IS AWARE OF THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND HAS CONTINUED TO SELL THEM IN THESE CARS. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND I AM CANNOT AFFORD TO TURN IT IN NOR CAN I AFFORD TO REPLACE IT.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was test-driven, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, a message indicating that the transmission had overheated, and that the vehicle was overridden and would shut down was displayed. The vehicle stalled. The service warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to Akron Transmission Inc, where it was diagnosed that the dual clutch assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 6.
I BUY A 2017 FORD FOCUS SE. ON SEPTEMBER 2017 THE ENGINE LIGHTS TURN ON, I LEAVE THE CAR IN GREENFORD EAST COLONIAL TO FIXED. NOW ON DECEMBER THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AGAIN. I DON'T WANT A CAR THAT I HAVE TO LEAVE ON GUARANTEE TO FIXED THE ENGINE LIGHT. I DON'T WANT THIS LEMON CAR. I WANT THE RELEASE OF THIS CAR TO BUY OTHER BRAND NEW CAR. THE CAR RUNS , BUT IS A NEW CAR AND IT'S NOT SUPPOSED THAT HAPPEND
1. CAR WILL MAINTAIN SPEED/RPM AFTER YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. 2. CAR WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN WHEN YOUR DRIVING AND YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. 3. CAR WILL ACCELERATE FROM A STOP WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. 4. RPM WILL INCREASE WHEN AT A STOP, THE ONLY THING KEEPING YOU FROM MOVING IS KEEPING YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE OR SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL OR PARK. ISSUES STARTED SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THE CAR BRAND NEW AND HAS CONTINUED AFTER MULTIPLE VISITS TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SAME ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SO EACH TIME WE ARE TOLD THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING' AS DESIGNED.'
MY CAR STALLS OUT EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I LOOKED ONLINE AND IT SAID DON'T LET IT GO BELOW HALF A TANK AND IT WON'T. SO THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING. I BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY WERE NO HELP.
TAKATA RECALL MY CAR HAD STALLED OUT EVER SINCE I GOT IT BRAND NEW. WHILE DRIVING.

Additionally, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle started shuddering, vibrating and failed to properly accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who replaced the transmission clutch. The contact stated that the transmission clutch had been replaced on five separate occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
WHEN I FIRST PRESS THE GAS IT SHUDDERS AND TAKES A WHILE TO TAKE OFF. ALSO, IT DOESN'T ACCELERATE WELL AT ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). FIVE STAR FORD STONE MOUNTAIN (3800 US-78, SNELLVILLE, GA 30039, (678) 929-5606) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER DID NOT REPLACE, BUT UPDATED THE CPV SYSTEM. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED, LOST POWER, AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER THE DEALER UPDATED THE CPV SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,727.
AS I AM DRIVING AND THE CAR WANTS TO SHIFT GEARS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS A BIT. THERE IS A LAG FOR THE TURBO TO KICK IN. WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHICH IS NORMAL, BUT WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE BRAKE FOR THE ENGINE TO START BACK UP, THE CAR JUMPS AS IT I JUST PUSHED THE GAS PEDDLE. THIS RECENTLY HAS STARTED TO HAPPEN. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF A DEALERSHIP WHERE MY CAR IS SERVICED BUT THEY CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE AS TO WHY.
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHUDDERING AT AN INCREASING RATE. THE CAR IS SLOW TO PICK UP SPEED AND OFTEN JERKS AS IT TRIES TO INCREASE SPEED BY SMALL INCREMENTS, SUCH AS 5MPH. WHEN I DO TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR EXPENDS A TON OF EFFORT, THE RPM SHOOTS UP, THE CAR SHUDDERS AND SHAKES. AS THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE INCREASING, MY CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY IS ALSO INCREASING. IT IS DIFFICULT TO MERGE INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AS MY CARS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO ESTIMATE. THIS IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A SAFETY RISK. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CREATE A SAFETY RISK FOR WHEN I AM DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEMS ARE STILL PRESENT ON CITY ROADS BECAUSE MY CAR IS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE EVERCHANGING SPEED LIMITS IN MY TOWN. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT MY FORD, BUT HAS DEFINITELY INCREASED IN ITS SEVERITY.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the canister purge valve was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Additionally, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking and hesitating while attempting to accelerate. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V515000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) or 18V845000 (Power Train). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recalls. The failure mileage was 100.
THE LEFT REAR TIRE LEANS IN AT TOP 2-3 DEGREES. DEALER CHECKED, IT SHOWED OUT OF CAMBER/ALIGNMENT, BUT WAS "WITHIN SPECS". AT UNDER 1200-MILES, TIRE IS ALREADY SHOWING UNEVEN INSIDE TREAD WEAR. DEALER KNOWS BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT IT UNLESS FORD AUTHORIZE. I FOUND THIS ON FORD WORLD; "FORD MOTOR COMPANY TOLD DEALERS THAT THEY MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON FORD FOCUS MODELS. THE MODELS INCLUDE: FOCUS SEDAN SE SERIES, WAGON, ZX3 AND ZX5 SERIES. ACCORDING TO FORD, CONSUMERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING MORE THAN NORMAL WEAR TO THE INSIDE OF THE REAR TIRE(S). SHOULD OWNERS EXPERIENCE SUCH A CONDITION, THEN THEY SHOULD BRING THEIR VEHICLE IN TO A FORD OR LINCOLN MERCURY DEALERSHIP FOR A POSSIBLE ADJUSTMENT. FORD WILL CHECK THE REAR CAMBER AND, IF POSSIBLE, MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT. IF AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE VEHICLE'S REAR CAMBER IS NECESSARY BEYOND THE NEGATIVE END OF SPECIFICATION, THEN THE DEALERSHIP WILL NEED TO SOURCE REPLACEMENT REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM(S)." THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY PARTS SERVICE KIT REQUIRED FOR THIS REPLACEMENT IS 3S4Z-1A154-AA. FORD WILL PERFORM THE REPLACEMENT OF PARTS UNDER PROVISIONS OF THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY UNDER TSB T31305. THIS IS CONSIDERED A "SILENT RECALL" WHERE UPON FORD MAY NOT NOTIFY OWNERS OF THIS CONDITION. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON I395 SOUTH, THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLED AND WOULDN'T NOT START BACK UP. HAD IT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALER AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE A FUEL BUMP FAILURE.
THE CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, THE DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH AND A HALF, FORD TOLD THE DEALER THEY NEW THE PROBLEM BACK IN FEBURARY 2017, I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JUNE 2017, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE CAR AND FORD TOLD THE DEALER THAT THEY TURNED OFF THIS FEATURE FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON, I PAID FOR THIS EXTRA FEATURE AND THEY STILL SOLD THE CAR KNOWNING THIS FEATURE WASN'T WORKING
BRAND NEW FOCUS ELECTRIC, LESS THAN 3 DAYS OLD FROM DEALER ON 8/17/2017. FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS, I HAVE DRIVEN LESS THAN 100 MILES. CAR WAS CHARGED OVERNIGHT AND SHOWS FULL CHARGE THIS MORNING. I DROVE THE CAR LESS THAN 30 MILES TODAY. IN THE EVENING, WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STOPPED SUDDENLY ON THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS IN STEADY SPEED ON A CITY STREET IN A STRAIGHT LINE. I WAS NOT ACCELERATING. I WAS NOT BRAKING. ALMOST GOT HIT BY A CAR BEHIND ME. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. BATTERY STILL SHOW 80 MILES CHARGE. INDICATOR WARNING SHOWS: "STOP SAFELY WARNING LAMP" AND "ELECTRIC MOTOR WARNING LAMP". ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE BRIGHT WHEN THE CAR DOOR IS OPENED, IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THE BATTERY CHARGE IS LOW. ALSO THERE IS NO WARNING OF "LOW BATTERY" BEFORE THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. I ALSO NOTICED WHEN I TURN OFF THE "POWER/START BUTTON", THE "INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT DISPLAY/GPS" STAYED ON. EVEN AFTER I HAVE CLICKED THE "LOCK" BUTTON ON THE REMOTE CONTROL KEY. AFTER PRESSING THE "POWER/START/STOP" QUITE A NUMBER OF TIME AND SWITCHING BETWEEN THE TWO KEYS, THEN THE "DISPLAY CENTER" FINALLY TURN OFF. WE HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE CAR TOWED.

Additionally, the contact stated would fail to respond when depressing the accelerator pedal and would not go pass a certain speed. The contact stated that the RPM would reeved when depressing the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would fail to respond. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission clutch needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the transmission clutch had been replaced every 4,000 to 7,000 miles on six occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
A/C VENTILATION IS PRODUCING A MUSTY/ MOLDY SMELL, I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR ONLY 4 MONTHS, THE ODOR IS STRONG, AND MAY BE DANGEROUS AS MOLD GROWTH MAY SEEP THROUGH VENTS AND INTO ONES AIRWAYS. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY HEALTH, ALONG WITH WHO EVER ENTERS THE VEHICLE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS FURTHER. INTERNET RESEARCH AS ALLOWED ME TO VIEW VARIOUS IDENTICAL CASES WITH MOLD ODOR & A/C VENTS ON FORD VEHICLES, THERE MIGHT BE AN ISSUE AT FORD MANUFACTURERS. THE ISSUE MAY OCCUR AT ANY TIME BUT IS MORE PROMINENT WHEN TURNING ON THE A/C.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER SUNSET FORD (11700 GRAVOIS RD, ST. LOUIS MO) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. RECENTLY WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.*DT*JB*DT*TP
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND WHEN TURNING WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER SLOWING DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND MAKES THE CAR JERK AND SHAKE AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND/OR GOING OUT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUES SINCE APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2017
CAR FAILS TO SHIFT INTO GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING, CAR WILL NOT 'GO' IN SOME INSTANCES WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PUSHED, 'GRINDING' NOISE COME FROM ENGINE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, WILL HESITATE OR 'SHUDDER' WHEN YOU ACCELERATE, RPM'S WILL GO VERY HIGH IN THE 7000 RANGE BEFORE SHIFTING INTO GEAR, WILL FAIL TO GO INTO GEAR WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND CAR WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL BACKWARDS UNTIL YOU STOP AND IT FINALLY FINES A GEAR. HAVE PULLED OUT FROM A SPOTLIGHT, 4-WAY OR FROM A PARKING LOT AND CAR WOULD NOT GO. THIS HAS CAUSED US TO ALMOST BE REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I. HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF AN ENTRANCE RAMP WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GET ON HIGHWAY BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT AND GO. THIS ISSUES ARE A HAZARD AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND THEIR RESPONSE IS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE CONCERN. WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AT THE OF MARCH 2017 BRAND NEW AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AND NOT IN OUR POSSESSION FOR A TOTAL OF 25 DAYS SO FAR. WE WILL NO LONGER PUT OUR CHILDREN IN THIS CAR FOR THE FEAR OF BEING INJURED OR KILLED. DEALERSHIP HAS NEVER PROVIDED US ANY TYPE OF PAPERWORK AND WE HAVE A CURRENT CASE WITH CORPORATE, BUT THEY REFUSE TO HELP IN ANY WAY UNTIL THEY GET A DIAGNOSIS OF SOME KIND.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS EFFECTING ACCELERATION AND MAKES GRINDING NOISES. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL LURCH COWARD UPON ACCELERATION. I'VE HAD THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE REPLACED THREE TIMES. TRANSMISSION IS BEGINNING TO SHUDDER AGAIN. CONTACTED FORD AUGUST 15 AND THEY KEEP SAYING THAT SOMEONE WILL CALL WITHIN 24 HOURS. I'VE CONTACTED THEM DAILY AND THEY KEEP SAYING SOMEONE WILL CALL THE FOLLOWING DAY. SIX DAYS LATER AND STILL NO RESPONSE. KEEP GETTING THE SAME STORE THAT THEY UPDATED MY CASE NUMBER AND SOMEONE WILL CALL US WITHIN 24 HOURS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE NHTSA HOTLINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,500.

THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. APPROXIMATELY 20 MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TAYLOR FORD (13500 TELEGRAPH RD, TAYLOR, MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

THERE IS EXCESSIVE JERKINESS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AND AT LOW SPEEDS, FROM AROUND 0-25 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN APPARENT PLAGUING ISSUE IN THE FORD FOCUS FROM AT LEAST THE 2015 MODEL. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR SEEMS TO WANT TO STALL AFTER COLD START AFTER WORK AND DRIVING ABOUT 2000 FEET TO THE TRAFFIC LIGHT (SO THIS WOULD BE THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, ABOUT 6-9 HOURS FROM FIRST COLD START OF THE DAY). I'VE HAD TO PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS TO KEEP THE CAR IDLING. IT HAS THE SAME SHUDDERING FEELING, WITHOUT THE JERKINESS OF THE TRANSMISSION, WHILE WAITING AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE ISSUE OF THE FEELING OF WANTING TO STALL GOES AWAY WITH ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THE JERKINESS AND SHUDDERING OF THE TRANSMISSION IS CONSTANT. PASSENGERS ARE QUICK TO GET MOTION SICKNESS WHEN RIDING IN THE VEHICLE.
