CAR SURGED WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE THEN WENT INTO LIMP MODE. TOOK TO THE SHOP AND IT NEEDED THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. I SEE THAT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. LOOKS LIKE THERE WAS A CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN BUT IT EXPIRED 1 YR AGO. WHY DID FORD NOT NOTIFY OWNERS OF THIS AND WHY DOES A KNOWN PROBLEM HAVE AN EXPIRATION?
MY ENGINE LITE CAME ON I TOOK IT TO O'REILY TO HAVE IT CHECK OUT. THEY GAVE ME THECODES TO THE THROTTLE BODY. WHEN I CALL FORD DEALER THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL ANY MORE. I DID NOT RECIEVE A NOTICE THATTHIS WAS A DEFECT IN THE CAR. IT IDLES IN PARK WHEN YOU ARE AT THE STOP ;LITE AND WHEN ITGOES INT REVERSE. IF YOUR FOOTNOT ON THE BRAKE IT MOVES. I HAVE SENT A LETTER TO YOU ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO NO RESPONSE. SENT A LETTER TO FORD NO RESPONSE.
I DROVE INTO A PARKING SPACE, SET FOR PARK. THE CAR JUST SHOT FORWARD AND HIT A WALL. THE ENGINE RIFFED LOUD, FOR A FEW SECOND. COULD NOT REDO THE BRAKES. I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL, TO CHECK MY BACK, BECAUSE I HAD JUST SURGERY 3 WEEKS BEFORE, FEBR. 22 2016. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL, AND I DO MY SERVICE AT FORD LINCOLN DEALER IN NAPA CA, SOSCOL AVN.I THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATOR OR ???MY RIGHT FRONT END IS DAMAGED.FILED CLAIM WITH THE INSURANCE. I NEED THIS PROBLEM FIXED.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 45 MPH ROAD, THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, NO ACCELERATION, THERE WAS A TRUCK BEHIND US THAT ALMOST HIT US. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER , WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND STARTED BACK UP AND CONTINUED DRIVING. WE TOOK THE CAR TO MECHANIC AND THEY DIAGNOSTICALLY TESTED IT AND HE SAID IMMEDIATLEY FOUR CODES PULLED UP POINTING TO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. WITH RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT EVEN IF YOU DID PAY FOR A NEW THROTTLE BODY OR CLEANING, IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONS ON ITSELF, IN ADDITION THROTTLE BODY WORKS HAND IN HAND WITH THE TRANSMISSION, TYPE CVR WHICH IS NOT MADE ANYMORE DO TO ITS FAILURES. FORD FAILED TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE AND ITS ELECTRONIC ENGINE ETB ON A CAR WHICH FORD ONLY MANUDACTURED FOR THREE YEARS, I WONDER WHY..... WELL WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED, THANK GOD WE WEREN`T, BUT THE INVESTIGATION ON THE ETB SHOULD BE REOPENED FOR SAFETY ISSUES.

WHEN I SPOKE TO SOMEBODY I WAS TOLD $100 FOR AN HOUR TO DIAGNOSE THEN I WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED TWO MORE HOURS. I FINALLY GET A CALL AND THEY SAY I MIGHT NEED AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE ! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WITH NOT EVEN 69 THOUSAND MILES ON IT: I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR IN AUGUST ! HOW CAN THESE CARS BE OUT THERE WITH SUCH PROBLEMS? A NEW ENGINE! WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FOUR CHILDREN THE WRENCH LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON & MY CAR WAS PUT IN "SAFE MODE" WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER LOSING ALL POWER. DROVE NORMAL FOR A WEEK & NOW REPEATED SAME ISSUE. CAR DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE & GOES INTO SAFE MODE SHUTTING DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES. ALSO SITTING IN LINE AT MY CHILDREN'S SCHOOL THE CAR SURGED FORWARD WHILE FOOT ON BRAKE ALMOST HITTING CAR IN FRONT OF ME. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY COVERED A CLEANING & NOT REPLACEMENT OF A PART THEY KNOW IS FAULTY. *TR

I WENT IN TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC FOR TIRE ROTATION AND WE DISCOVERED THAT THE MOTOR CRADLE WAS RUSTING OUT WITH A BIG HOLE IN THE CRADLE FRAME. *TR
YESTERDAY I WAS IN LINE AT A DRIVE THRU. AS I TURNED THE WHEEL SLIGHTLY TO MAKE A TURN AND ROLL FORWARD A BIT IN THE LINE THE CAR MADE A DRAMATIC LUNGE FORWARD WITH VERY NOTICEABLE INCREASE IN THROTTLE, BUT I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO APPLY ADDITIONAL BRAKE TO HOLD THE CAR FROM IMPACTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT DID IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES AS I WENT THROUGH THE LINE AND GOT MY FOOD. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO DO IT AGAIN AT HOME IN THE DRIVEWAY. THIS IS REAL BAD AND HAS TO BE A SERIOUS DEFECT. IN A DIFFERENT SITUATION THE CAR COULD LUNGE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND CAUSE A FATALITY. I HAVE THE CAR PARKED AND WILL NOT DRIVE IT. *TR

WAITING IN LINE ON THE EXIT RAMP IN DALLAS. AC WAS ON. THE CAR STARTED SURGING FORWARD AND ENGINE STARTED REVVING UP. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND I HAD TO APPLY BRAKES HARD TO KEEP FROM HITTING A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. A WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED AC OFF AND LIMPED INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE UNITED AIRLINE CENTER. AFTER THE PROGRAM, WE MADE IT BACK TO OUR HOTEL WITH RUNNING THE AC. I DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU THAT THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND AFTER READING SEVERAL CASES ON LINE, THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF FREESTYLE OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC WITH AC ON AND CAR LUNGED FORWARD HESITATED AND WENT INTO FAIL SAFE MODE.THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND THE SECOND TIME WE'VE MADE A COMPLAINT. IN 2005, APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR FORD REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, AS THE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, CAR WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 3-4 YEARS. THEN THE SAME PROBLEMS BEGAN OCCURRING AGAIN. LUNGING AND STALLING IN 2010. IN MAY OF 2012 WE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AGAIN, AS IT HAD GOTTEN SO BAD THE CAR WAS BARELY DRIVABLE. EVERY TEN FEET OR SO IT WOULD STALL AND GO INTO FAIL SAFE MODE. THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED ON MAY 13 2012, AND THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY UNTIL YESTERDAY. OBVIOUSLY THE THROTTLE BODY IS DEFECTIVE, EVEN AFTER FORD SUPPOSEDLY REDESIGNED IT IN 2007. AM I GOING HAVE TO SPEND 600.00 EVERY YEAR TO HAVE THE SAME PART REPLACED BECAUSE FORD WON'T ISSUE A RECALL ON AN OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
