ITS THE ABS. I HAVE CHANGED THE BRAKES GOTTEN NEW MASTER CYLINDER AND I STILL CANNOT GET FULL BRAKE CONTROL. STILL PUSHING PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. MY MECHANIC CHECKED ON THIS SITE WHICH SHOWED OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. WHICH HE STATED IS A FACTORY DEFECT. *TR
TRANSMISSIONS ARE GOING OUT ON THESE CARS BETWEEN 2006-2010. WHICH WILL LEAVE PEOPLE STRANDED IN THE ROAD WAY WHICH COULD BECOME A HAZARD. THE REASON FOR THIS ISSUE IS BECAUSE FORD PUT A DEFECTIVE PROGRAM IN THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. ONCE AROUND APRIL 27TH OR SO I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO GO TO DALLAS. TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING DOWN SO I APPLIED MY BRAKES, THE CAR DID NOT STOP RIGHT AWAY. I BEGAN TO PANIC AND BEGAN TO PUMP THEM AND THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED ABOUT A FOOT BEHIND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THEN ON ANOTHER OCCASION, ON OR ABOUT JULY 13TH I WAS DRIVING ON A STREET NEAR WHERE I PURCHASED THE 2008 FORD FUSION. AS I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT I BEGAN TO APPLY MY BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP IT BEGAN TO CLICK AND WAS ALREADY PAST THE CORNER, I LOOKED OVER MY LEFT SHOULDER AND TRAFFIC WAS STARTING TO COME MY WAY SO I LET UP OFF THE BRAKES AND ACCELERATED. I AM VERY AFRAID AND HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE BRAKES FOR MY VIN. I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO BE A STATISTIC BEFORE THE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. I JUST BOUGHT IT 11 MONTHS AGO, SO I HAVE A LONG TIME TO PAY FOR IT. *TR

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13N03 (THROTTLE BODY). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD BUT FAILED TO EFFECTIVELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, HE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED ASTRO FORD (10350 AUTO MALL PKWY, D'IBERVILLE, MS 39540; (228) 275-3673) AND BUTCH OUSTALET INC (9274 US 49, GULFPORT, MS 39503, (228) 863-5525) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 143,303. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
AFTER ABS ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOW VERY SOFT AND REQUIRES THAT THE PEDAL TO BE PUSHED COMPLETELY TO FLOOR. APPROX 3MONTHS AGO NEW BRAKE PADS AND AT LEAST 2 ROTORS WERE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE BRAKE FLUID WAS FLUSHED. SO I KNOW THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AT THAT TIME. *TR
DASH BOARD IS CURLING UP AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG.THE FRONT WINDOW DEFROST VENT IS COMING OUT OF THE DASH BOARD . WE HAVE HAD THE DOOR HANDLES BREAK IN HALF REPLACED .THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THE DASH COULD COME APART AT ANY TIME OR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG COULD GO OFF? W/ THE FRONT WINDOW VENT OUT OF THE CUT OUT IN THE DASH THIS PART ON THE DRIVER SIDE UP COULD POP UP AND CAUSE THE WINDOW TO BREAK . *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO PASS 20 MPH. I HADN'T PREVIOUS HAD ANY PROBLEMS FROM MY VEHICLE. THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW COMPUTER AND MY CURRENT COMPUTER WAS BURNING OUT MY IGNITION COILS. IT TURNED OUT TO BE ABOUT ~$1800 WORTH OF WORK. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM IS BECOMING MORE COMMON AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE COMPUTER AND IGNITION COILS SOON IF IT'S NOT ALREADY IN THE WORKS. OF COURSE, THE ONLY RECALL I NOTICED FOR THIS VEHICLE IS THE FLOOR MATS. THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AFTER THE CAR WAS FIXED. *TR
MY 2008 FORD FUSION SE 2.3L, 5-SPEED MANUAL, HAS SHUT OFF ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO WARNING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 65+MPH. THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND STALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO COAST AND ATTEMPT TO CONTROL MY CAR AT SPEED UNTIL I COULD GET THE ENGINE RESTARTED. I WAS UNABLE TO JUST TURN THE KEY FORWARD TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND HAD TO TURN THE KEY BACKWARDS ALL THE WAY INTO THE "OFF" POSITION BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ALWAYS RESTART ON THE 1ST OR SECOND ATTEMPT. THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE OVER A 2 WEEK PERIOD AT HIGH SPEEDS BEFORE SUDDENLY WORSENING AND CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO STALL AND NOT RUN IN IDLE OR RANDOMLY AT ANY SPEED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY (ENGINE FAULT CODES INCLUDED P0128, P0607, P2107) BUT REFUSED TO COVER ANY PORTION OF THE REPAIR DESPITE THE VEHICLE HAVING ONLY 35,500 MILES AND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT SIMILAR SAFETY ISSUES ON SIMILAR VEHICLES/COMPONENTS. *TR
THIS CAR IS ALL WHEEL DRIVE. THE CENTER SUPPORT BEARINGS ALSO CALLED CARRIER BEARINGS ON THE CENTER DRIVESHAFT GOING FROM THE POWER TAKE OFF UNIT TO THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WENT BAD MAKING A VERY LOUD ROARING NOISE. AS A MECHANIC MYSELF, TRUCKS HAVE THESE BEARINGS AND THEY RARELY GO BAD IF AT ALL BUT AT HIGH MILEAGES. FAILURE AT 35000 MILES IS UNHEARD OF. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD FUSION AWD/6 SPEED IN 2009 WITH ONLY 107 MILES. I KEPT RECORD OF ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR. JUST RECENTLY PLANNING TO TAKE A VACATION FROM COLORADO TO SEE MY SON AT NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, SO LAST MONTH I GOT ALL MAINTENANCE DON'T IT AGAIN. OIL CHANGE, TRANSMISSION & POWER STEERING FLUSH, ETC. I PARKED THE CAR WITH NO PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY, I STARTED THE CAR AND IT HAS NO POWER, I DROVE IT DOWN THE DRIVE WAY AND HAVE I TO TURN AROUND. THE ENGINE WAS KNOCKING SO BAD THE I THOUGHT I WOULD FALL OFF ON THE GROUND. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC AND THE SAID THE COIL IS BAD, THEY REPLACE TWO COILS THAT COST $600.00. RIGHT WHEN THE MECHANIC IS GOING TO CALL US TO PICK UP THE CAR, THEY SAID IT WAS RUNNING WORSE. NOW THEY SAID THOSE COILS MELTED, AND NOW THE PCM NEED REPLACEMENT. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL FOR PMC ON 2008 FORD FUSION BUT YET SEVERAL MECHANIC SAID THIS IS NOT NORMAL. I EXPECT TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR AT LEASE $2000.00. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,470.
THE FRONT DASH AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS BULGING - THE GLUE IS NOT HOLDING THE COVER OVER THE AIRBAG IN ITS PLACE. THE DASH IS BULGING HERE. VERY UGLY AND I FEAR MORE DAMAGE OR DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD AIR BAG COVER HAS SEPERATED EXPOSING FOAM INSULATION AND EXPOSES AIR BAG POCKET. THIS OCCURRED IN 2014 GRADUALLY OVER TIME. MILAGE OF VEHICLE IS 65K.

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL WHERE SHE SUSTAINED INTERNAL BLEEDING INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY WIFE PARKED HER 2008 FORD FUSION IN OUR GARAGE AND AS SHE TRIED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THE INSIDE LEFT DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE WOULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR. SHE TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND ALMOST PANICKED. SHE WAS TRAPPED INSIDE. FORTUNATELY HER CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A MICROSOFT SYNC SYSTEM AND SHE WAS ABLE TO CALL ME INSIDE THE HOUSE FROM THE GARAGE. I CAME TO HER AND WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK DID NOT AUTOMATICALLY DISENGAGE WHEN SHE SHUT THE KEY OFF. SHE ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW AND I REACHED INSIDE TO TEST THE INNER DOOR HANDLE AND LOCK. THE LOCK WAS STUCK AND THE HANDLE JUST MOVED FREELY BACK AND FORTH AS I PULLED ON IT. FINALLY, AFTER WIGGLING THE INNER LOCK BACK AND FORTH MANY TIMES I WAS ABLE TO DISENGAGE THE DOOR LOCK. I THEN COULD OPEN THE DOOR BY USING THE OUTSIDE DRIVERS DOOR HANDLE. SHE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND I PROCEEDED TO EXAMINE THE DOOR MECHANISM. I REMOVED THE COVER PLATE AND SAW THAT THE PLASTIC ACTUATOR ARM ON THE INNER END OF THE DOOR HANDLE HAD BROKEN IN TWO AND PART OF IT HAD GOTTEN CAUGHT UP IN THE LOCKING MECHANISM. SO I CAME INSIDE AND SEARCHED ON-LINE TO BUY A NEW REPLACEMENT HANDLE. DURING MY SEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT PEOPLE ALL ACROSS THE UNITED STATES ARE CLAIMING THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT YEARS OF FORD FUSIONS. FORTUNATELY FOR MY WIFE SHE WASN'T INVOLVED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND COULDN'T GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED BUT I BELIEVE IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF THIS POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE PART. I FEEL THAT EVEN THOUGHT THE VEHICLE HAS HIGH MILEAGE THIS PART SHOULD NEVER FAIL. THIS ACTUATOR ARM IS JUST A VERY, VERY, THIN PIECE OF PLASTIC AND I SUSPECT THAT ALL FOUR INNER DOOR HANDLES OF THE FORD FUSION ARE OF THE SAME DESIGN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO LOSE SPEED. I WAS ON AN INCLINE AT THE TIME WHICH MADE IT WORSE. I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. AFTERWARDS I PULLED OVER. MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. INDICATING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. MY CAR WHEN IN TO LIMP MODE. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER, I DID FIND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT IN NORTH CAROLINA. I DID CALL FORD AND MENTIONED THAT TO THEN. THEY HAD ME GIVE THEM MY VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER AND TOLD ME THAT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS CAN BE A SAFETY RECALL FOR SOME, BUT NOT FOR ALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE WRENCH SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. I WASN'T FAMILIAR WITH WHAT THAT LIGHT MEANT. WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR SUGGESTIONS. I GOT NEW GRAS, MADE SURE THE GAS CAP WAS TIGHT, AND WAITED FOR 3 COLD STARTS TO SEE IF IT WOULD GO OFF. THEN WE WENT TO LEAVE BIN THE CAR AND VIT WOULDN'T GO, EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN. I CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT TOWED THERE. IN DOING RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE COMMON WITH FORD FUSIONS AND I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE CHANGES OR A RECALL. MY RESEARCH TOLD ME WHAT WAS WRONG BEFORE THE CAR LEFT THE DRIVEWAY AS THE ISSUE IS SO SEARCHABLE ON THE INTERNET! *TR
I WAS SLOWING TO TURN INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF MY WORK, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN I FELT KIND OF A POPPING SENSATION IN THE BRAKING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD ALREADY DRIVEN AROUND THAT MORNING WITH NO ISSUES, PROBLEMS OR INCIDENTS. I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND SLOWLY DROVE THE CAR TO THE SHOP, WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUED TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET MY CAR TO STOP. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED AND PER THEIR REPORT: "THERE ARE NO VISIBLE BRAKE FLUID LEAKS PRESENT AT THIS TIME. A THOROUGH VISUAL INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED ON THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM INCLUDING BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, CALIPERS, BRAKE LINES, CLIPS, SCREWS, ABS CONTROL MODULE, ELECTRONICS ETC. 2- UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION IT WAS ALSO DETERMINED THAT THIS COMPLAINT IS BECOMING MORE COMMON WITH FORD FUSION OWNERS (SEE SAFECAR.GOV) AND AFTER REVIEWING IDENTIFIX THERE APPEARS TO BE A EQUAL AMOUNT OF FAILURES BETWEEN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND NO ABS MALFUNCTION ERROR CODES AND NOT BEING ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE CLIENTS COMPLAINT DURING A EXTENDED ROAD TEST." WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR THE AFTERNOON AFTER TAKING IT TO THE SHOP, THE BRAKES WERE VERY HARD AT FIRST APPLICATION AND THEN THEY WENT BACK TO NORMAL. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD FUSION. I HAVE UNDER 100,000 MILES AND THE OIL PAN CAME OFF AND BLEW MY MOTOR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY ABOUT THIS SITUATION. I TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CAR. ON 2/17/2014 THIS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A "LIMP MODE" CONDITION. THE VEHICLE WAS ON A HIGH SPEED ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO BE SAFELY REMOVED TO BACK STREETS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 20MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO PARK, SHUTDOWN AND THEN THE KEY PUT INTO THE ON POSITION PAUSED AND STARTED. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RESOLVED. IN NOVEMBER THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TWO SITUATION. 1. TRAVELED FROM CT TO MARATHON, FL, ARRIVING AFTER NOON. WITHIN SIGHT OF THE HOTEL DESTINATION THE ENGINE BEGAN TO BREAK DOWN AND RUN ROUGH. I ALSO SMELLED SMOKE. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE HOTEL PARKING LOT BEFORE THE ENGINE QUIT ALTOGETHER. A LOCAL SHOP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS TWO CYLINDER MISFIRES AND FAILED IGNITION COILS. 57 MI FROM THE DEALER IN KEY WEST AND OVER 100 MI FROM MIAMI, I ELECTED TO HAVE A LOCAL ASE CERTIFIED SHOP REPLACE THE COILS. REFLASHING THE PCM SHOWED A NEW SET OF CODES AND THAT THE PCM WAS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ACCORDING TO MACHADO FORD IN MIAMI, THERE WERE NO PCMS IN FORD'S INVENTORY IN ALL OF THE US. SEARCHED FOR REMANUFACTURED PCMS WAS FRUITLESS AS WELL. FINALLY CONTACTED ARMSTRONG FORD IN HOMESTEAD AND THEY SAID THEY COULD FIX THE CAR. $996.56 TO THE SHOP IN BIG PINE KEY. TRANSPORTED THE CAR TO HOMESTEAD ON FRI 2/21. MONDAY THE DEALER HAD LOCATED A PCM AND REPLACEMENT WAS COMPLETED UNDER WARRANTY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. I PICKED UP THE CAR ON WEDNESDAY AND LEFT FOR JACKSONVILLE IN THE AFTERNOON. 120 MI NORTH IN JUPITOR, THE ENGINE FAILED AGAIN. WE SAT ON THE SIDE OF THE FL TURNPIKE'S 70 MPH TRAFFIC UNTIL WE COULD HAVE THE CAR TRANSPORTED TO MULLINAX FORD IN WEST PALM, ARRIVING AFTER THE SERVICE DEPT HAD CLOSED. THE NEXT DAY I LEARNED THAT ALL THREE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WERE PLUGGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. TWO CONVERTERS WERE AVAILABLE AND WERE REPLACED ON 2/28. THE THIRD CONVERTER WAS BACK ORDERED WITH AN EXPECTED AVAILABILITY OF 3/31. SINCE THE REMAINING UNIT HAD DISCHARGED ITS CONTENTS INTO THE TAILPIPE AND WAS DISCARDED, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO CT. TASCA FORD IN BERLIN CT IS STILL WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT CONVERTER AFTER NUMEROUS EXTENSIONS OF DELIVERY DATES FROM FORD. THE FORD CUSTOMER SERV REP REFUSED TO RETURN MY CALLS. MY TOTAL OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES EXCEED $4000 TO DATE. *TR

WAITED 5 MINUTES, PROCEEDED WITH DRIVE. NO FURTHER INCIDENT OCCURRED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD EXCEED IN EXCESS OF $700. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, THE DASH THAT COVERS IT IS OPENING UP. FOR A CAR THIS CAR THAT IS FROM 2008 SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING . FOR THE DASH TO BECOMING UP LIKE THAT TO WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE AIR BAG IS REALLY BAD. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE AIR BAG GOES OFF AND GETS SUCK ON THE TIP OF THE OPEN DASH SOMEONE COULD GET REALLY HURT OR EVEN DIE. I DID TAKE IT TO THE FORD COMPANY AND THEY SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY CLOSE TO 1,000 DOLLARS TO GET IT FIX AND THAT IT WOULD NOT COUNT AS A RECALL. I HAVE NOT GOT IT FIX AND I AM HOPING THAT IT DOES NOT GET WORSE AS TIME GOES ON.

THE PASSENGER SIDE AREA AROUND THE AIRBAG IS COMPROMISED AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE AIRBAG WILL POP.
I STARTED MY CAR AND IT SOUNDED & SEEMED NORMAL. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 2 MILES, MY ENGINE SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND THE RPMS DROPPED DRAMATICALLY. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND IT WOULD NOT INCREASE SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A FAULTY POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WHICH IMPACTS THE IGNITION COILS AND THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR IS $2100! ONE OF MY IGNITION COILS WAS MELTED. FORD HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER, THEY DO NOT DEEM THIS A SAFETY ISSUE! CARS THAT JUST STOP RUNNING OR DECELERATE QUICKLY IS MOST DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN THINK OF MANY SCENARIOS WHERE THIS ISSUE WOULD CAUSE INJURY OR PERHAPS EVEN DEATH. HAD I BEEN ON A FREEWAY OR DRIVING AT A GREATER SPEED WHERE THERE WAS MORE TRAFFIC, I COULD CERTAINLY HAVE ENDED UP IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED THIS CONCERN AND FOUND THAT I AM NOT ALONE AND THERE HAVE MANY OTHERS AFFECTED BY THE SAME EXACT SITUATION. FORD IS OF THE OPINION THAT THIS SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CAR OWNER AND THEY DO NOT HOLD THEMSELVES ACCOUNTABLE. I UNDERSTAND HOW WARRANTIES WORK AND I REALIZE THAT CARS AGE.
