A BURNING SMELL WAS DETECTED AFTER MY 2008 SEL AWD WAS DRIVEN/HOT. MY MECHANIC SAW OIL ALL OVER THE EXHAUST AND CLEANED IT ALL OFF AND DID A DYE TRACE TO LOCATE THE LEAK. THE LEAK IS THE REAR HEAD GASKET! I NEVER HAD A WELL CARED FOR CAR LEAK THIS EARLY. I ALWAYS GOT OVER 200,000 MILES ON MY BUICKS. THE COST TO REPLACE A HEAD GASKET ARE IN EXCESS OF $2100-$2500! AND AS A NOTE, THE MECHANIC WHO FOUND THE ISSUE DOES NOT EVEN DO MAJOR ENGINE REPAIR ON THIS LEVEL SO THEY WERE NOT MAKING IT UP. *TR
WHILE ON A TRIP TO NEW BUFFALO, MICHIGAN, MY 2008 FORD FUSION BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND LIMP (AS IF IT WERE RUNNING OUT OF GAS). THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, AS I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THEN TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I TURNED IT ON AGAIN, THE CAR SEEMED TO HAVE MIRACULOUSLY RECOVERED. AS I PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE CAR BEGAN TO WHINE AND SPUTTER. SINCE IT WAS LATE ON A SUNDAY NIGHT AND THERE WERE NO REPAIR SHOPS OPEN, I WAS FORCED TO PARK THE CAR AT A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND WAS LATER PICKED UP BY A RELATIVE OF MINE, WHO DROVE NEARLY 200 MILES TO GET ME BACK HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY, MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE CAR TO A LOCAL AUTO SHOP WHERE I SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC AND SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. TO MY DISMAY, BOTH GENTLEMEN RELAYED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH FORD FUSIONS, AND THAT THE TECHNICIAN, HIMSELF HAD REPAIRED 8-12 SUCH ISSUES IN THE LAST YEAR. HE ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL TSBS (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS) RELATED TO THIS ISSUE, DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN IN THE PCM AND INJECTION COILS WHICH CAUSED THEM TO SHORT TO ONE ANOTHER. I ASKED IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL OR IF CUSTOMERS WERE FORCED TO PAY TO REPLACE THESE FLAWED PARTS. HE KINDLY EXPLAINED THAT RECALLS ARE FOR SAFETY ISSUES,'AND THAT IF WE WANTED THE CAR FIXED, WE WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR NEW PARTS. AS THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE PROVIDED ME WITH A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIR COST, A PRINCELY SUM OF $3,010.00, MY REACTION RESEMBLED THAT OF AN INDIVIDUAL WATCHING A RATHER TERRIBLE HORROR MOVIE. I COULD NOT HELP BUT FEEL AGGRIEVED AS A LARGE PORTION OF THE COST (NEARLY $2,200.00) WAS ATTRIBUTED TO THE FAULTY PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LOSE BRAKES AFTER ABS WENT ON - HAS HAPPEN FEW TIMES EACH YEAR I HAVE OWN THE CAR. *TR
THERE IS A BULGE ALONG THE TRIM NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG PANEL. THE TRIM OF THE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME SEPARATED FROM THE AIR BAG PANEL EXPOSING A GAP. THIS WOULD DEFINITELY BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE AIRBAG WOULD/SHOULD DEPLOY. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
THE REAR CARRIER BEARING IS ALREADY WEARING OUT. FROM SEARCHING AROUND ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. MY CAR ONLY HAS 65000 MILES ON IT, THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. YOU CAN'T FIND A REPLACEMENT BEARING, SO IT MAKES ME THING FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT; LEAVING PEOPLE TO HOPE THE DRIVE SHAFT DOESN'T FALL OUT GOING DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
2 YRS THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS BUGLING, I CALLED THE FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR RECALL FOR THIS, I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD $1000.00 - $ 1500.00 TO REPAIR, NOW THIS IS A DEFECT ON THE COMPANY, NOW IF THE AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED AND MY 92 GRANDMOTHER IS SITTING THERE , SHE IS GOING TO BE BRUISED, WHAT IF MY MOTHER @ 73 IS SITTING THERE AND WE CAN'T AVOID A POTHOLE AND IT'S DEPLOYED, WHAT IF THE SUN ( WHICH IS AN ACT OF GOD) CONTINUE TO SPAN OUT THE DASHBOARD, MY INSURANCE WILL NOT PAY FOR FORD MOTOR CO DEFECT... THE CONSUMER IS RESPONSIBLE PER CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD TO SAVE MY RECEIPT AND COULD BE REIMBURSED (COULD BE) SEEM TO BE NO ONE IS READING THIS COMPLAINT AND HOLD FORD LIABLE FOR WOULD COULD BE PREVENTED... ON AN INTERSTATE MERGE RAMP, THE FUSION SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND FELT LIKE IT WOULD STALL. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE SURGED WITH ACCELERATION, BUT NEVER GOT OVER 40 MPH. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL, IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WOULD STALL; IT LURCHED AND MANAGED TO KEEP GOING VERY SLOWLY. I FEARED FOR MY SAFETY ON THIS VERY BUSY INTERSTATE. THE CAR LURCHED AND SURGED UNTIL I COULD GET TO A SAFE STOPPING POINT. *TR
TAKATA RECALL - NONE OF THE FORD DEALERS THAT I'VE CONTACTED HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS TO THIS PROBLEM... THEY SAY THEIR PARTS DEPARTMENT CAN NOT ORDER REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS FOR MY CAR :-( THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR IS WARPING! I GUESS FORD IS OKAY WITH THE FACT THAT HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE DRIVING AROUND FORD CARS & TRUCKS WITH TAKATA AIRBAGS THAT COULD SEND GLASS SHARDS IN TO THE PASSENGER CABIN ON IMPACT! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING.... I'VE RECEIVED SO MANY NOTICES FROM FORD BUT NEVER ANY SOLUTIONS!
WE HAVE HAD SOME COLDER THAN USUAL DAYS AND WHEN I START MY CAR, THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. ONCE I GET TO MY DESTINATION AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IT, THE LIGHT GOES OFF. *TR
ONCE ABS KICKS IN, I HAVE NO BRAKING ABILITY. CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BACK IN 2013, CHECKED BY FORD AS NO PROBLEM. EVERY TIME MY ABS KICKS IN I HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE GETS GAS, IT DOESN'T EVEN NEED TO BE A FILL UP, THE ENTIRE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT IS CONSUMED WITH GAS FUMES. WE TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERS AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM YOU'RE PROBABLY JUST OVER FILLING IT WHEN YOU GET GAS OR THEY ARE SPILLING GAS BUT THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE AT ALL, I'M POSITIVE ABOUT IT. WE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE AND THEY SENT US TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO SAID THE SAME THING. I THINK THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WHICH WOULD REQUIRE REMOVAL OF THE GAS TANK AND THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO DO IT. HAS THERE BEEN ANY SAFETY RECALLS ABOUT THIS? THIS CAR IS MY MOTHERS AND I DON'T KNOW HOW SHE HASN'T PASSED OUT WHILE DRIVING FROM THE FUMES, IT REALLY IS TERRIBLE AND WE HAVE NO ANSWERS. I'M A FORMER MECHANIC FROM YEARS AND YEARS AGO AND KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM HERE, MAYBE A VACUUM HOSE OR FITTING OR THE GAS TANK ITSELF, I SEE ONLINE OTHER YEARS HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM ABOVE THE GAS TANK WITH A PLASTIC FITTING CRACKING. SHE HAS BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM SINCE SHE GOT THIS CAR TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO. SHE DID HAVE ANOTHER CAR HIT HER FROM BEHIND ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BUMPER WHEN PARKED AND IT WAS REPAIRED AT A BODY SHOP BUT THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERS AFTER THAT TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE IDLER PULLEY BOLT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE PART HAD BEEN REPLACED A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE YOUTUBE VIDEO FORD FUSION DOOR LATCH PROBLEM BY OLDFREDSSHED 3:22 MINUTES DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM EXACTLY I'M HAVING WITH MY INNER DOORS LATCHES ON MY 2008 FORD FUSION. THE DOORS HANDLES ARE BREAKING AND I THINK THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING WITH MY DOOR HANDLES AND MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAY THIS IS NOT A RECALL OR WARRANTY PROBLEM. CITRUS FORD WANTS ME TO PAY $265 JUST TO REPLACE ONE HANDLE AND I THINK THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ITEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IN AN EMERGENCY AND YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR AND WITH POWER WINDOWS AND NO POWER THIS COULD BE A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE IN HALF - DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE . THE COST TO FIX IS OVER $300 AND IT WAS MADE TO LOOK LIKE METAL BUT IT IS MADE OF PLASTIC THAT MUST HAVE A WEAK POINT. THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR.
ON THREE OCCASIONS, 10/6/12, 6/23/14, AND 1/3/15 OUR FORD FUSION 2008 HAS EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH BRAKING. IN ALL THREE OCCURRENCES THE PROBLEM HAS IDENTICAL OR NEARLY IDENTICAL. THEY OCCURRED FOLLOWING AN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATION AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 25 AND 40MPH. THE FIRST TWO WERE IN DRY WEATHER WHEN BRAKING WHILE GOING OVER A POTHOLE AND THE THIRD WAS WHILE DRIVING ON SNOW COVERED PAVEMENT. AFTER THE ABS ACTIVATED, THE BRAKE PEDAL LOST ALMOST ALL PRESSURE AND WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR BEFORE BRAKING WOULD INITIATE. BRAKING DISTANCE WAS SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASED IMMEDIATELY. IN BOTH OF THE FIRST TWO CASES, THE CAR WAS TAKING IN FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR, HOWEVER THE ISSUE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPLICATED. IN BOTH OF THE FIRST TWO CASES, THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO RESOLVE ITSELF WITHIN A FEW DAYS. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE INCREASING FREQUENCY AS WELL AS THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT ARE VERY SIMILAR TO MY EXPERIENCE AND I URGE ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO PROPERTY OR LOSS OF LIFE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 73,000.
WAS DRIVING AND AS I WENT AROUND A CORNER, THE BRAKE PEDAL (WHICH WAS SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED) WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. LOST ALL PRESSURE. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON. GRADUALLY PRESSURE RESUMED. DROVE ANOTHER DAY OR SO AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS GOING STRAIGHT. I WENT TO THE DEALER. HAD MY MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKES, ROTORS, AND BRAKE BOOSTER ALL REPLACED. THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER. NOW IN DECEMBER, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. *TR
THE DASHBOARD ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG HAS BUCKELED AND WILL NOT RETURN TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION. YOU CAN SEE THE FOAM INSIDE. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. I HAD THOUGHT DUE TO THE HOT WEATHER IT HAD BUCKELED AND IT WAS A RARE CASE BUT AS I AM READING THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR FORD WITH THE 08 FUSION. HOPING WITH MORE COMPLAINTS THIS WILL BE FIXED. *JS
WHEN OPENING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, A SMALL PIECE INSIDE BROKE OFF. THE DOOR COULD NO LONGER BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THE DOOR KNOB HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I BOUGHT THE REPLACEMENT PART, THE FORD DEALER SAID THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM A LOT WITH FUSIONS. *TR
FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE HOOD LATCH OPENS. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS NOTICED ON THE EXPRESSWAY, IT CAN UNLATCH ON A SECONDARY ROAD, MOST RECENTLY IT WAS NOTICED BY A NEIGHBOR AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE SAFETY CATCH ALWAYS CATCHES IT SO IT HASN'T BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM YET, BUT I DON'T LIKE PULLING OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. THE SAFETY CATCH PREVENTS THIS FROM BEING A MAJOR PROBLEM, BUT IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE A SERIOUS ISSUE FOR SOMEONE WHOSE SAFETY LATCH DID NOT HOLD. *TR
NOTICED PASSENGER DASH UPHOLSTERY, IN FRONT OF PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS BUCKLED,AND POPPING UP. TWO DIFFERENT FORD SERVICE MANAGERS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THAT THE AIR BAG MIGHT NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY DUE TO THE DASH PROTRUDING. THEY BOTH TOOK PHOTOS AND FORD REFUSED TO ADDRESS BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, BY YEARS. I ONLY HAVE APPROX. 34,000 MILES. I FEEL THAT THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY DEFECT, IF MY AIR BAG OPERATION MIGHT BE AFFECTED. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE DASH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS APPROX A $1,000 REPAIR. *TR
A FEW YEARS BACK I GOT INTO MY 2008 FORD FUSION AND I REMEMBER IT BEING A VERY HOT SUMMER DAY. I LOOKED OVER AT MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG/DASH BOARD AREA AND PART OF THE DASH WHERE THE SEAM IS, WAS STICKING OUT. I WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT BACK IN RIGHT AWAY BUT NOW I CAN'T. THE DASH ABOVE WHERE THE AIR BAG IS JUST ALWAYS STICKS OUT NOW. I FIGURED SINCE IT WAS SO HOT THAT DAY THAT'S WHY IT HAPPENED. I STILL HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET IT FIXED AND IT DOESN'T SEEM SAFE TO ME. I'VE LOOKED ON NUMEROUS WEBSITES AND HAVE READ THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND YEAR HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. *TR
DASHBOARD HAS PULLED UP AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG. I AM JUST GETTING AROUND TO REPORTING THIS, BUT I SEE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE SOMETHING FORD RECALLS AND FIX DUE TO A SAFETY HAZARD. BULGED AROUND AIRBAG AS WELL.
THE DASHBOARD WARPED AND THE AFFECTED AREAS ARE THE CENTER DASHBOARD AND THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ON AFTER GETTING THE AIRBAG RECALL FIXED.
2008 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ALL WEATHER FLOOR MAT ISSUES WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE DID NOT USE RUBBER FLOOR MATS IN HER VEHICLE. HOWEVER, ON JULY 25, 2012 SHE EXPERIENCED A FRIGHTENING SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN SHE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND THEN TO DRIVE. SHE NOTICED SOME UNUSUAL MOVEMENT AS SHE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THEN TO DRIVE, THERE WAS DEFINITELY UNWANTED ACCELERATION. SHE WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND TURNED IT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FLOOR MATS WERE NOT IN THE WAY OF THE ACCELERATOR WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY, DUE TO LOW VOLTAGE CODES AND IT WAS EXPLAINED TO HER, THE BATTERY WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ONCE PRIOR TO THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE COMPONENTS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF A 2008 FORD FUSION WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH BUCKLING AT THE BOTTOM OF WHERE THE AIRBAG IS . THIS CAUSES ME CONCERN ABOUT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYING AT ANY TIME EVEN IF IT IS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF NEEDED TO DEPLOY AND IT FAILS TO DO SO . HELP !!! I AM NOT THE ONLY FORD OWNER WITH THIS ISSUE .THE PROBLEM FIRST BEGAN BEING NOTICEABLE IN 2012 AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE.

THE DEALER STATED THE DASHBOARD WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE WINDSHIELD LINER SEPARATED AND CRACKED, WHICH ALSO EXPOSED FOAM. ENGINE OIL LEVEL INDICATOR (DIPSTICK) INDICATES ENGINE OIL LEVEL OK EVEN IF VERY LOW (DIPSTICK TUBE IS ALSO A DRAIN FOR OVERHEAD CAM BODY). ENGINE LOW OIL SHUTDOWN ALSO DID NOT OCCUR. THIS RESULTS IN DRIVER OPERATING A VEHICLE THAT CAN HAVE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS LEAVING VEHICLE WITH NO PROPULSION, POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND UNABLE TO NAVIGATE TO A SAFE LOCATION AND MAY ALSO GENERATE METALLIC ENGINE DEBRIS ON ROADWAY POSING A HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS. OVER TIME THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED GRADUALLY MORE SLACKNESS AND FREE PLAY IN THE STEERING RESPONSE. I INITIALLY ATTRIBUTED THE CONDITION TO TIRE WEAR AND VEHICLE AGE. EVENTUALLY THE CONDITION BECAME SO SERIOUS THAT I WAS CERTAIN IT WAS NOT NORMAL, SO I DECIDED TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE. UPON INVESTIGATION I DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY WAS MOVING AROUND ON ITS ATTACHMENTS IN RESPONSE TO STEERING INPUTS. I CHECKED THE MOUNTING BOLTS THAT SECURE THE RACK TO THE SUB-FRAME AND FOUND THAT TWO OF THE BOLTS WERE LOOSE ENOUGH TO BE TURNED BY HAND AND THE THIRD WAS BROKEN AND WAS JUST SITTING IN THE HOLE. IF I HAD NOT INTERVENED, THE CONDITION WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY HAVE PROGRESSED TO THE POINT THAT THE STEERING RACK COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM ITS MOUNTS RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. *JS
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 1.50 YEARS FOR THE BRAKES TO BE FIXED DUE TO A RECALL, THE BRAKES GO OUT CONTINUALLY WHEN DRIVING AND I'VE HAD THEM FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. WHEN LOOKING UP THE RECALL FORD STATUS THEY ARE STILL NOT READY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT REQUIRES ME NOT TO DRIVE MY CAR. AUTOMOBILE IMPACTED TELEPHONE POLE ON RIGHT FRONT QUADRANT. THE CONTINUED TRAVEL OF THE VEHICLE UP SMALL EMBANKMENT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AND FLIP. THE DRIVER'S SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY RESULTING IN HEAD INJURY TO DRIVER. *TR
WHEN COMING TO A SUDDEN STOP AND PRESSING HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE ABS SYSTEM RAPIDLY PUMPED. SINCE THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING LIKE IT SHOULD I HAD TO PUMP THE PEDAL AGAIN TO FINALLY GET THE CAR STOPPED. AFTER THIS I HAD TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL NEARLY TO THE FLOOR TO PROPERLY BRAKE THE CAR. CHECKING BRAKE FLUID LEVEL I FOUND IT WAS NORMAL. THE FIRST AUTO REPAIR SHOP CHANGED THE MASTER CYLINDER, FOUND NO IMPROVEMENT, AND RE-INSTALLED THE ORIGINAL MASTER CYLINDER. THE SECOND AUTO REPAIR SHOP STATED IT REQUIRED AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER TO COMMUNICATE WITH A "SOLENOID" TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM. THE THIRD AUTO REPAIR (A FORD DEALER) STATED NO PROBLEM FOUND WITHOUT MAJOR DIS-ASSEMBLY AND LIKELY $$$ TO FIX. HOWEVER THE BRAKES WORKED A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL "MUSHY" WHEN DEPRESSING THE PEDAL. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN BRAKING HARD ON A ROUGH ROAD THE ABS RAPIDLY PUMPS WITH WORSENING OF BRAKING. IT GENERALLY RECOVERS SOMEWHAT OVER TIME BUT STILL TOO "MUSHY" FOR A NORMAL BRAKING. EX-FORD REPAIR MAN SUGGESTED CHECKING RECALLS AND HAVE FOUND SIMILAR EXPERIENCES ON THIS WEBSITE. SURPRISED TO FIND NO RECALL YET. *TR

THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY LOSE ITS BREAKING EFFICIENCY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD REQUIRE 3 TIMES MORE DISTANCE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIRS. THE CORRECTION COMPLETED INCLUDED: TEST DRIVE, FOUND BRAKE PEDAL IS LOW DUE TO AIR IN THE SYSTEM, CHECK FOR LEAKS, FOUND MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING ON THE INSIDE, REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM, PERFORM ABS SYSTEM BLEED AND RETEST. THEN AGAIN ON 02/14/2012 THE ISSUE REAPPEARED WITHOUT WARNING. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO FORD SERVICE CENTER AND THE FOLLOWING CORRECTIONS WERE COMPLETED. TEST DRIVE, CANNOT DUPLICATE CUSTOMERS CONCERNS AT THIS TIME. (SERVICE CENTER ADVISED ME THAT THEY BLEED THE BRAKE, BUT DIDN'T LIST IT OUT ON THE REPORT. ON 04/11/12 AGAIN HAD THE SAME ISSUE COME EXPECTANTLY. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER AND THE FOLLOWING CORRECTIONS WERE MADE. FOUND BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR AND CAR DOES NOT STOP VERY WELL. FOUND ABS VALVE IS STUCK OPEN, R&R ABS MODULE, REPLACE HCU, BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM, PERFORM ABS SYSTEM BLEED, BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM AGAIN AND RETEST. *JS

UPON EXITING MY CAR THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE DOOR HANDLE. THE DOOR WAS UNABLE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK, AND SOMETIME VERY DIFFICULT TO GET IN AND OUT OF THE CAR, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND I WAS INFORMED THE DOOR CABLE BROKE. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS A DEFECTED PART. I WAS TELLING SOME OTHER ABOUT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THE KNEW OTHER FORD OWNERS WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR FAIRLY NEW CAR.
