TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR AS THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED OVER THREE YEARS AGO. THE DEALER (RICART FORD, 4255 S HAMILTON RD #100, GROVEPORT, OH 43125) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS UNABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM TK HOLDINGS, ALERTING HER THAT THEY HAD FOR BANKRUPTCY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I FINALLY GOT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE REPLACED IN THE FORD FUSION AFTER LIVING WITH 'SOFT BRAKES' FOR MANY YEARS. WHEN AN ABS EVENT OCCURS, THE PEDAL GOES SOFT IMMEDIATELY AFTER, AND THE BRAKING DISTANCE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. FORD SHOULD BE MORE RESPONSIBLE ABOUT TAKING CARE OF THIS DEFECT BEFORE PEOPLE GET HURT.
I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR INSPECTION. AS PART OF THE INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A BRAKING TEST WHERE HE DROVE THE CAR SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES HARD. FOLLOWING THEIR DOING THIS, THE BRAKES ARE MUSHY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE CAR TO STOP.
THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE AIR BAG SOME TIME AGO YET IT HASNT BEEN REPAIRED YET. I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL- THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD MOTORS IS TELLING ME THE COMPONENTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR 6-12 MONTHS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. WHAT IS FORD DOING TO EXPEDIT THESE NEW REPLACEMENT PARTS?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PITTSBORO FORD (1245 THOMPSON ST, PITTSBORO, NC 27312, (919) 542-3131) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE ABM AND MASTER CYLINDER WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 260,000. *TT *AS
BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS FARTHER DOWN BEFORE STOPPING ...
TAKATA RECALL: THE TAKATA RECALL FOR THE PASSANGER SIDE AIRBAG IN MY 2008 FORD FUSION HAS BEEN OUT FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW AND THERE STILL AREN'T ANY REPLACEMENT PARTS YET. WHEN WILL THE REPLACEMENT PARTS COME IN?
AFTER AN ABS BRAKING EVENT THE BRAKES BECOME SOFT AND HIT FLOOR, GREATLY INCREASING THE STOPPING DISTANCE AND FORCE NEEDED TO BREAK AND SLOW DOWN AND STOP THE CAR. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION "PE 16-017"
TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED NOTICE JUNE 2016 AND STILL WAITING FOR AIRBAG REPLACEMENT.
TAKATA RECALL AIRBAG ON RECALL FOR OVER A YEAR AND NO FIX IN SIGHT WAS TOLD NOT TO PUT ANYONE IN MY FRONT SEAT FORD WILL NOT GIVE A LOANER. ALSO NOW MY ABS SYSTEMS IS HAVING TROUBLE AND THEY HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL EVEN THOUGH OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME TROUBLE. CAR IS LITERALLY A DEATH TRAP. WHEN DRIVING I HAVE TO PUSH BRAKES TO THE FLOOR AND PUMP THEM TO GET IT TO STOP MY BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE BOTH GOOD
AFTER THE ABS ENGAGING WHILE SLOWING DOWN ON A SLIPPERY ROAD, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOW SPONGY/ HAS A LONGER TRAVEL THAN NORMAL. VEHICLE EXHIBITING SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE INVESTIGATION ALREADY UNDERWAY.
ON SEVERAL OCCURRENCES IN THE PAST, MY BRAKES HAVE "GONE SOFT" AFTER A NEED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES OR HITTING AN ICY PATCH OF ROAD. ON 05 JANUARY 2018, I HAD A NEED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN TRAFFIC. AFTER THE INITIAL NEED TO HIT THE BRAKES, I NEEDED TO HIT THEM HARD AGAIN TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I ENDED UP SWERVING INTO A DITCH, WHICH I BELIEVE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE BRAKE ISSUE ON MY CAR. HAD I BEEN ABLE TO STOP PROPERLY, I FEEL THAT THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. IT'S DISTURBING TO ME THAT THESE BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN RECALLED WITH SO MANY INSTANCES OF SUCH AN ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND CAUSED THE STOPPING DISTANCE TO BE EXTENDED. WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. AFTER REFILLING THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TAKATA RECALL - AFTER RECEIVING NOTIFICATION ABOUT THE FAULTY AIRBAG PSAN INFLATORS MADE BY TAKATA CORPORATION IN 2016, I AM STILL AWAITING A REPLACEMENT FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY AS OF JANUARY 2018. THE RESOLUTION TIME IS UNACCEPTABLE AND PUTS ME AND MY VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AT RISK FOR INJURY OR DEATH. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO RECEIVE AN UPDATE, BUT AM TOLD PARTS ARE UNAVAILABLE AND MAY BECOME AVAILABLE IN SPRING 2018. MY MAJOR COMPLAINT IS THE TIME TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND THE RISK THAT TAKATA AND FORD HAVE PLACED ME AND MY FAMILY IN BY NOT RESOLVING THE ISSUE IN AN EXPEDIENT MANNER. I WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA TO EXPLORE OPTIONS WITH FORD FOR THEM TO ISSUE ME A SAFE METHOD OF SIMILAR AND ACCEPTABLE TRANSPORTATION WHILE WE CONTINUE TO WAIT. TWO YEARS FOR RESOLUTION IS TOO LONG. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES ON A SNOW-COVERED ROAD THE ABS TURNED ON. AFTER THAT EVENT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT VERY SOFT AND DID NOT STOP THE CAR. NOW THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM EVERYONE ELSE IS HAVING WITH THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT DESIGN FLAW.
I RECEIVED A RECALL ABOUT A YEAR AGO ON MY AIRBAG. AFTER A YEAR THEY ARE STILL TELLING ME THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS TO FIX IT AND YOU CAN NOW SEE WHERE IT IS STARTING TO DEFLATE AND I HAVEN'T BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. NOW MY DASH IS DEFORMED AND A PART OF THE AIRBAG IS VISIBLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS!! I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY STATED THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO BE LOOKED AT AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT BUT I REFUSE TO PAY ANYTHING DUE TO IT BEING A RECALL. THEY NEED TO FIX MY AIRBAG AND MY DASH FREE OF CHARGE. WHEN CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK THEY PRETTY MUCH TELL ME I AM CRAZY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT MESS THE DASH UP. PLEASE HELP!!!!
2008 FORD FUSION BRAKES ARE SINKING ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AT 93K WHILE IN MOTION. I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS ONLINE, BUT NO CONFIRMATION THAT FORD WILL TAKE CARE OF THE MATTER OR IT BEING LISTED AS A RECALL. ALSO THE DRIVER SEAT WARMER DOES NOT WORK.
JANUARY 2020 AND AGAIN OCTOBER 2020 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATING A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 19S54/NHTSA RECALL 19V-904 THAT A VALVE IN THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT OF THE ANIT-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MAY BE STUCK OPEN. MY 2008 FORD FUSION INDEED HAS THIS PROBLEM. EVERY TIME MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED, MY BRAKE PEDAL SINKS TO THE GROUND AND IT TAKES CONTROL AND TIME FOR THE CAR TO COME TO A STOP. AFTER, THE BRAKE PEDAL REMAINS SOFT AND I HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDDLE TO GET PRESSURE BACK UP. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE APPROXIMATELY 2018 FOR THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER A YEAR AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS YET TO NOTIFY ME OF A FIX FOR THIS RECALL PROBLEM. THIS TIME FRAME IS UNACCEPTABLE.
I DROVE OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF ICE GOING 40 MPH IN A CITY AND THE ABS ENGAGED. HOWEVER, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. SINCE THEN, MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN SPONGY AND REQUIRE MORE PRESSURE IN ORDER TO STOP MY CAR.
FURTHER INFORMATION FOR THE RECALL NOTICE 19S54 / NHTSA RECALL 19V-904. MILEAGE AT FIRST EVENT 111,287. THREE TIMES WHEN BRAKING HARD THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BARELY SLOWED DOWN THE CAR. 1.) FIRST TIME AUGUST 2017 WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN OVER A MAN HOLE COVER. DEALER BLEED THE BRAKES BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. 2.) RECURRED MILEAGE 14459 DECEMBER 28, 2017 ON INTERSTATE WHERE TRAFFIC HAD COME TO A HALT. HAD TO BRAKE FAIRLY HARD BUT THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND ONLY SLOWED THE CAR SLIGHTLY. HAD OVER 100 YARDS BEFORE THE STOPPED TRAFFIC. I ALMOST HIT THE STOPPED CARS AHEAD BUT THEY STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD JUST IN TIME. I THEN RODE THE EMERGENCY LANE, STOPPED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED A WHILE, THEN DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM AND HAD TO GET A RENTAL CAR. THIS WAS A FRIDAY BEFORE NEW YEARS SO THEY NEEDED MANY DAYS TO GET TO LOOK AT IT. PICKED UP CAR JAN 2, 2018 BUT THEY DID NOT KNOW FOR CERTAIN HOW TO FIX IT BUT THOUGHT I MIGHT NEED A NEW HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT, HCU. 3.) MILEAGE 114520 JANUARY 23, 2018 THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON CITY ROADS AND THAT WAS ENOUGH. I FOUND A VIDEO ONLINE FROM A MECHANIC THAT DESCRIBED THE ISSUE COMPLETELY. I SENT THE LINK TO THE FORD DEALER AND PUT A PRINTED COPY ON THE DRIVER SEAT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD THEM PICK UP THE CAR BECAUSE I WAS TO SCARED TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE. IN SHOP JAN 24 TO 27, 2018. TOTAL PAID TO DEALER FOR THREE VISITS ON THIS ISSUE $1,409.61 PLUS $501.63 IN RENTAL CAR CHARGES. TOTAL OUT OF POCKET COST = $1,909.61. 1/27/2020 I JUST RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS ISSUE. I DISAGREE WITH THE COMMENTS THAT SAYS " "FORD HAS NOT ISSUED INSTRUCTIONS TO STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE...YOU CAN CONTINUE TO SAFELY DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE." IT CERTAINLY IS A SAFETY ISSUE! THE CONTACT ALSO ADVISED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V024000 (AIR BAGS) WAS RECEIVED DECEMBER OF 2017 HOWEVER, AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED "POWERTRAIN FAULT". THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO STOP AND PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ODANIEL FORD MITSUBISHI (631 LINCOLN HWY W, NEW HAVEN, IN 46774, (855) 973-4169) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE BODY AND ABS FAILED. THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO REPAIR FOR THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT'S BROTHER RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER AFTER THE REPAIRS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP AFTER TRAVELING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION WITHOUT A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,625.
THIS IS A CONTINUINY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. WHEN BRAKING HARD DURING RAINY OR SNOWY CONDITIONS, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES SOFT. YOU STILL HAVE BRAKES, BUT I NEED TO PUMP THEM FOR MAXIMUM STOPPING. IN PAST YEARS WE HAVE HAD THEM BASICALLY RESET THEMSELVES OVER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IF YOU CHECK ON LINE FORUMS, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. MY DEALER DRAINED AND REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID, AND WANTS TO REPLACE RUBBER COMPONETS IN THE SYSTEM, AS HE FEELS THEY MAY BE COMPROMISED. HE INFORMED ME THAT DRAINING THE LINES DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ONLINE FORUMS FROM MANY CUSTOMERS SAY THAT THEY SPENT BIG BUCKS REPLACING DIFFERENT ITEMS, AND NOT HAVING ANY RESULTS. I ASKED THAT I GET A GUARANTEE THAT THE FIX THEY PROPOSE WILL WORK. NO SUCH LUCK.
I WAS DRIVING MY 08 FORD FUSION I WENT TO STOP AT STOP LIGHT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO WEAR IT FELT LIKE I HAD TO PUSH IT ALL THE WAY TO THE MOTOR FOR IT TO STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THE TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES IN THE 16MONTHS THAT I HAVE HAD THE CAR. USUALLY IF YOU KEEP GOING FORWARD THEN BACKWARDS THE BRAKE WOULD COME BACK BUT THIS LAST TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL NEVER CAME BACK AND IS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I TOOK IT TO WELL KNOWN SHOP THEY CHANGED MATER CYLINDER ALSO BRAKES AND ROTORS. MY BRAKE PEDAL STILL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN THIS HAS ALSO BEEN BLEED SEVERAL TIMES.
RIGHT REAR CALIPER IS LOCKED AGAIN, EVEV AFTER IT WAS REPLACED. IT WEARS THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE PADS WHILE DRIVIG. THE BRAKE PADS ARE CONSTANTLY SMOKING WHILE DRIVING AND THE ROTOR IS TOO HOT TO TOUCH AND THE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AT ANYTIME. THE VEHICLE IS NOW PARKED, BECAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE COST OF REPAIR PARTS WHEN I LAST CHECKED WAS OVER $1,200.

I CONTINUALLY CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA AND I'M CONTINUALLY TOLD IT'S A "PRELIMINARY RECALL" AND THE PARTS AREN'T AVAILABLE. IF THIS PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS, I SHOULDN'T BE MADE TO DRIVER FOR MORE THAN A YEAR WITH UNSAFE COMPONENTS.

THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHILE IN MOTION, AND ONLY AFTER THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED. AFTER THE ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED THE BRAKES GET VERY SOFT. WHEN IN THIS STATE, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE BRAKES SLOW THE CAR, AND I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT STOPPING DISTANCE AND ALSO THE EXTRA TIME IT TAKES TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE THAT FAR. THE SYSTEM TYPICALLY DOES NOT RECOVER FROM THIS UNTIL THE CAR IS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR AND EVEN THEN, THE REPAIRS OFTEN DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THREE TIMES WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN, THE LAST TWO TIMES TO THE DEALER. NEW ROTORS (REPLACED TWICE), MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDERS, PADS, SYSTEM FLUSHING WILL SOMETIMES TEMPORARILY FIX THE PROBLEM HOWEVER IT RECURS. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. WE FEEL WE HAVE AN UNSAFE CAR WE CANNOT DRIVE OR SELL TO ANOTHER PERSON. OTHERWISE THE VEHICLE RUNS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR TWO OR THREE YEARS. THE PROBLEM MOST RECENTLY OCCURRED AFTER A SNOW EVENT ON 12/18/2017 HOWEVER, IT SEEM TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE ABS IS ENGAGED.

TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED 3 FORD DEALERS AND THEY ARE ALL UNABLE TO HELP ME DUE TO THE RECALL NOT HAVING A REMEDY. THE LETTER I RECEIVED STATED THAT I NEED TO TAKE ACTION BEFORE 12/27/17. I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING A FORD IN THE FUTURE IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED.

TAKATA RECALL. FORD SAYS THEY DONT HAVE THE PARTS YET TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG
THE CAR LOST BRAKING POWER. WHEN THE ABS BRAKES ENGAGED, I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO GET THEM TO ENGAGE. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER INITIALLY. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY, BUT LATER, AGAIN WHEN THE ABS ENGAGED, THE PEDAL GOT SPONGY AND THE PEDAL HAD TO GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO BRAKE. THEN, MY MECHANIC FOUND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN DEFECT AND REPLACED THE ABS CONTROL MODULE, COSTING ME > $1,000. THE PART COST $805. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE RECALLED.

THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES REDUCED BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WHEN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE (ABS) PUMP ENGAGES. IT USUALLY HAPPENS COMING TO A STOP AND ONE WHEEL HITS A SMALL BUMP AND SLIPS, MORE OFTEN WHEN THE ROAD IS WET. WHILE THE CAR CAN STILL BE SUFFICIENTLY STOPPED UNDER THIS CIRCUMSTANCE, PEDAL PRESSURE IS REDUCED AND DOES NOT REGENERATE FULLY, AND IT TAKES 20-30 MINUTES TO RECOVER THE LOST PRESSURE, AND ONLY AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES OF HARD BRAKING ARE PERFORMED WITHOUT THE ABS PUMP ENGAGING. SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE DOES NOT REGENERATE THE LOST PRESSURE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THIS AS IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST A FEW TIMES BEFORE.
NOTICED SPONGY BRAKE PEDAL/PEDAL NOT FIRM/GOING ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED SHORTLY AFTER HITTING A LARGE POT HOLE/BUMP WHILE IN MOTION, BRAKING FOR A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A CITY STREET. ABS WAS ACTIVATED DURING THE TURN UPON HITTING THE BUMP, ALTHOUGH THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND NOT SLIPPERY. VEHICLE WOULD STILL STOP WITH THE SPONGY PEDAL, BUT THE PEDAL HAD MORE TRAVEL THAN IT SHOULD HAVE BEFORE ENGAGING THE BRAKE. UPON READING ABOUT SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE, (POSSIBLE HCU MALFUNCTION) THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. DEALERSHIP TECHS HAD NOT HEARD OF ANY VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR HCU ISSUES. UPON DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, THE TECH ORIGINALLY STATED HE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT OPPOSITE PROBLEM - INSTEAD OF A SOFT, SPONGY PEDAL, HE EXPERIENCED A PEDAL SO FIRM THAT IT COULD NOT BE DEPRESSED. THIS EXTREME FIRM PEDAL WAS A ONE-TIME EVENT. VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 3 DAYS, WHERE TECHS INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE PASSED ALL OF IT'S TESTS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL FIRMNESS IN ALL TEST DRIVES. TECHS COULD NOT DUPLICATE ANY BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALITIES. BRAKE PEDAL HAS SINCE RETURNED TO NORMAL FIRMNESS FOR THE TIME BEING. THE ORIGINAL SPONGY PEDAL ISSUE REMAINS UNRESOLVED AT THIS TIME.

TAKATA RECALL CURRENTLY MY DASH IS STARTING TO WARP, IT LOOKS AS IF ITS GOING TO EXPLODE ON ITS OWN. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT A FEW TIMES AND WAS WARNED NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR BOTH TIMES. I USE THIS CAR TO COMMUTE TO WORK AND DROP MY LITTLE BROTHER OFF AT SCHOOL. I DO NOT LET PEOPLE SIT IN MY FRONT SEAT IN FEAR OF HARMING THEM. YESTERDAY I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A 2 LANE ROAD ONTO THE ONE LANE STREET WHERE I WORK AND HAD TO BRAKE SUDDENLY BECAUSE A CAR WAS STOPPED AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROAD. I BELIEVE THIS ENGAGED MY ABS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT, MY BRAKES SUDDENLY REQUIRED ME TO PUSH MY BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR TO ENGAGE IT. I BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC THIS MORNING AND THEY RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT THAT THERE IS NO TEST TO KNOW IF THAT WOULD EVEN FIX IT. I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND COME TO FIND OUT IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH A FAULTY HCU IN ALL 2008 FORD FUSIONS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS KNOWN ISSUE IS NOT A FORMAL RECALL AS IT IS PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AS RISK INCLUDING MINE. ALSO, BECAUSE IT IS NOT A FORMAL RECALL, PEOPLE ARE WASTING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT WHEN THAT DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE AT ALL. BRAKE PEDAL GOES SOFT FOR NO REASON AT ALL TIMES FOR A UNIDENTIFIED REASON. I HAVE REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER, BRAKES, ROTORS, AND EVEN HAD THE BRAKE LINES CHECKED AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE.
