THE CAR STALLS AND SHIFTS GEARS AFTER STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THEN AFTER MOMENTS OF PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL IT SPINS OFF AND JERKS REALLY HARD ON A FREEWAY IT RIDES VERY WELL IT ONLY STALLS AFTER WAITING AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN OR TAPPING ONTO THE BREAK ALSO THE CAR HAS NEW BREAK PADS BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS SCRUBBING AND WHILE I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING LOT THE CAR MADE A HUGE POPPING AND THREW ME BACK WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK IT SCARED ME SO I GOT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND I DIDN'T HIT ANYTHING NOR DID ANYTHING HIT ME SO I TRIED TO DRIVE HOME AND THE CAR JERKED THE ENTIRE WAY HOME ALMOST
TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING BAD FROM FRONT OF BELL HOUSING WHEN IN ANY GEAR. L/H AXLE SEAL WENT BAD 3 YEARS AGO, FIXED THAT BEEN FINE UNTIL THIS. A LOT OF TBS ON THIS PROBLEM, TIME FORD DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO SLAM ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO YORK'S OF HOULTON (315 NORTH ST, HOULTON, ME 04730, (207) 532-6534) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED ALONG WITH THE AIR BAGS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. ONCE STOPPED, THE POWER STEERING RESUMED FUNCTIONING FOR A SHORT TIME. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEXT STARTED, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SEIZED AND WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON THE INTERSTATE AT A SPEED LIMIT OF 60MPH IN MOTION ON MY WAY HOME AND IT STARTED GETTING HARD TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL WHICH MADE IT HARD FOR ME TO MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN WHEN I WAS EXITING THE EXIT. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING POPPED UP ON MY DASHBOARD AND ADVANCE TRAC. SO THEN IT ENDED UP CHANGING TO SAY SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW WHICH IT MADE IT VERY HARD AND DIFFICULT TO EVEN BE ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR PERIOD. I GOT A ESTIMATED OF $1811.94 FOR MY CAR TO BE REPAIRED AT WYNNE FORD AT 1020 W. MERCURY BLVD HAMPTON VA 23666 AND FOR ME TO GET A ESTIMATE OF THAT PRICE I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THAT IT'S LIKE BUYING A USED CAR AT THAT PRICE. I JUST FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT'S A RECALL ON A 2011-2012 FORD FUSION BUT NOT A 2010 WHEN THE SAME EXACT DEFECT IS GOING ON WITH THAT SAME CARJIS A DIFFERENT YEAR. WHICH BASICALLY I WOULD BE PAYING TO GET A ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION IN ORDER FOR MY CAR TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE AND FUNCTION CORRECTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE STEERING CEASED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT LATER STARTED THE VEHICLE, SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 310,000.
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE CAR LOSS POWER FROM 60 DOWN TO 30 HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR DOWN VERY SCARY SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY . AFTER SRI 15 MINUTES OR SO THE CAR STARTED BACK UP .HAD FORD RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND SAID COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SECOND TIME DID THE SAME THING ABOUT SIX MONTHS LATER ANOTHER SCARY SITUATION SAFELY PULLED OVER AND WAITED 15 MINUTES AND CAR STARTED, WAS FINE FOR ANOTHER SIX MONTHS . ALSO HAD TWO SITUATIONS WHEN BRAKES DIDN'T WORK ABS LIGHTS CAME ON WITH OTHER LIGHTS PERTAINING TO BRAKES HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT CAR DOWN FOR AWHILE . TURN CAR ON AND THEY WERE FINE . AGAIN I WANT TO EMPHASIZE VERY SCARY SITUATION. DATES INCIDENTS OCCURRED 09/10/2019 AND 09/24/2020 ENGINE SHUT DOWN , BRAKES SITUATION 09/15/2020 AND AGAIN ON 04/04/2021.
2010 FORD FUSION - POWER STEERING THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS COMING OFF THE INTERSTATE IN THE MIDDLE OF A HARD RIGHT TURN/CIRCLE. IT BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO FULLY CONTROL THE STEERING AND COMPLETING THE RIGHT TURN. I ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD/EMBANKMENT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CAN'T FIND ANY INFORMATION ON A RECALL?
TAKATA RECALL IS THE POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING .
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION THE POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY..COULD NOT STEER THE CAR...MESSAGE SAID "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". FORTUNATELY WE WERE ON A CITY STREET AND NOT ON RT.9 ..THE VERY BUSY HIGHWAY WE USUALLY TRAVEL ON. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I SHUT THE CAR OFF..WAITED A MINUTE AND STARTED IT AGAIN..IT WAS OK TO DRIVE BUT ONLY ABOUT A MILE AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN..WE WERE ABOUT 6 MILES FROM HOME...THIS HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE WE ACTUALLY GOT HOME! IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE AS THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS ON A CURVE ON A BUSY STREET...WE SAT THERE WITH THE FLASHERS ON HOPING THAT NO ONE WOULD RUN INTO US! CAR IS NOW BEING TOWED TO FORD GARAGE FOR REPAIR...AND FROM WHAT WE WERE TOLD COULD BE VERY COSTLY. WE'VE BEEN INFORMED THAT FORD HAS RECALLED MANY CARS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT THE 2010 FUSION WHICH MANY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH! I FIND IT ABSOLUTELY AMAZING THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DID NOT RECALL THE 2010 FUSION. DRIVING A CAR THAT SUDDENLY LOSES IT'S STEERING IS DEFINITELY LIFE THREATENING...NO BETTER REASON THAN THAT FOR FORD TO RECALL AND REPAIR THIS ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 FUSIONS!!
I HAD A FLAT TIRE WHAIL THE TIRE WAS GOING FLAT THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND IT SEEMS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT I WAS ON A SIDE STREET
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO AN ELECTRONIC COMPONENT FAILURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WAS NO COLLISION AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY.CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM HE CAR HAS NO BRAKE.
UPON STARTING 2010 FORD FUSION, THE "STEERING DEFAULT ASSIST" LIGHT COMES ON AND THERE IS NO POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, ONCE WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE I HAS PASSENGERS AND WAS TRYING TO MAKE A TURN. IT WAS A STRUGGLE TO CONTROL THIS VEHICLE AND MAINTAIN CONTROL. I HAD TO FIND A SPOT TO STOP TO TURN ENGINE OFF AND ON AGAIN TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. MY GRANDDAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THIS MORNING (9/27/209) AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL TAKING DAUGHTER TO BUS STOP. PREVIOUSLY I HAD TAKEN CAR TO DUNCAN FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL??? BESIDES THIS INCIDENT (WHICH IS SCARY IN ITSELF), IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHEN STARTING CAR IN DRIVEWAY, HAVE TO TURN IGNITION OFF AND ON TO CLEAR WARNING AND REGAIN POWER STEERING. ALSO, HAPPENED ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I HAD PASSENGERS IN THE CAR AND WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND FOUGHT FOR CONTROL OF VEHICLE. I HAD TO FIND A PLACE TO STOP AND RESTART CAR TO REGAIN CONTROL OF STEERING!! NOT ACCEPTABLE. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE. I CAN'T AFFORD THE $1800 TO FIX PROBLEM, NOR SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR DEFECT.
THE BREAK PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. IT DOES NOT BREAK AT ALL. THIS ISSUE STARTED AFTER AN ABS EVENT. I CHANGED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND ROTORS/PADS WITH OUT LUCK. I TRIED TO BLEED THE ABS PUMP USING A SCAN TOOL AND NO CHANGES.
ONE MORNING WHEN MY WIFE WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR THE GYM HER CAR SAID 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT.' NOW THE CAR HAS NO POWER STEERING AND IF YOU TRY TO DRIVE IT IT FLASHES 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC NOW. SADLY WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THIS SO THE CAR IS STUCK IN THE DRIVE WAY.
DRIVING VEHICLE AT ABOUT 25 MPH WHEN AN ALERT CAME UP TO CHECK STABILITY CONTROL AND POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING WAS SLIGHTLY TOUGHER BUT NOT HARD. DROVE FOR ANOTHER 20 MILES TO DESTINATION AND IT WAS FINE. A FEW HOURS LATER WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY GONE AND ALERT SAID TO CHECK POWER STEERING NOW
MIDDLE OF FREEWAY DRIVING, CAR DEACCELLERATED AND WENT INTO LIMP HOME MODE. SAFELY STOPPED AND ERROR CLEARED ON RESTART. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, TECHNICIAN INDICATED THE TEST GRAPH HAD A SPIKE UPON TESTING. LIKELY UNIT OF FAILURE.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE POWER STEERING STOPS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT AND IT WORKS FINE FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND THEN IT STOPS WORKING AGAIN. IT SAYS 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT '. I LOOKED IT UP AND OVER 263,000 MODELS HAVE BEEN REPORTED AND OVER 2,200 COMPLAINTS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO A ACCIDENT AND GETS SERIOUSLY HURT.
ELECTRIC STEERING GOES OUT AND THE CAR BECOMES EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. STOPPING AND LETTING IT RESET WORKS SOMETIME. THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVE COULD HAVE A CATASTROPHIC WRECK BECAUSE OF THIS MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. IT SEEMS EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT THIS MALFUNCTION ( FORD TECHNICIANS RECOMMEND I FILE THIS COMPLAINT ) BUT I RECIEVED NO HELP FROM FORD .
SUN ROOF..ARMS THAT ARE HOLDING WINDOW ARE MADE OF PLASTIC AND ARE BREAKING DOWN...AFRAID THIS WILL CAUSE WINDOW TO FLY OFF CARS AND SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE.
THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING & ALMOST CAUSED THE DRIVER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS MOVING IN A PARKING LOT. UPON TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE STEERING FAILED & ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO IT. A MECHANIC RAN DIAGNOSTIC & DETERMINED THE ELECTRONIC EPAS TORQUE SENSOR HAD FAILED.
WARNING LIGHT APPEARED 3 DAYS AGO TO SERVICE POWER STEERING. WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING - ALMOST COULD NOT GET IT PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY.DEALER BROUGHT OUT COMPUTER GOT THE STEERING UNLOCKED, SAID TO ADD SOME TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH WE DID. THAT WAS 2 DAYS AGO, THE STEERING STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN AND BY THE TIME WE GOT HOME, IT WAS LOCKED UP AGAIN. GOT SOME TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE STEERING. IT DID LOOK LIKE SOME FLUID HAD BEEN LEAKING ON THE PAVEMENT. BUT THIS IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY HAZARD - THERE WAS NO WARNING BETWEEN THE MESSAGE SAYING TO SERVICE IT AND WITHIN MINUTES THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AND IT TOOK A LOT OF STRENGTH TO GET IT HOME. FORTUNATLEY, BOTH TIMES WE WERE CLOSE TO HOME AND NOT ON A FREEWAY SOMEWHERE. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR LOT WE PURCHASED IT FROM CAME OUT WITH A SMALL COMPUTER AND GOT IT TO WORKING AGAIN, SAID TO ADD SOME TRANSMISSION FLUID BECAUSE THE TWO WORKED TOGETHER. WE DID THAT - WORKED ONLY 2 DAYS AND STEERING WENT OUT TODAY. IT IS MY GRANDDAUGHTERS CAR AND SHE NOR I REALLY HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT OR GET A NEW ONE AND SHE IS EXPECTING A BABY.
I'VE CONTACTED EMPIRE FORD OF ABINGDON VIRGINIA TWICE BY PHONE: ONCE ON AUGUST 27TH AND AGAIN ON AUGUST 28TH 2019, AND WENT IN PERSON TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE 25TH OF SEPTEMBER 2019 AND PHYSICAL HANDED THEM MY VEHICLE REGISTRATION TO GET THIS RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. AS OF YET, JULY 2020, I HAVE HAD NO HELP GETTING MY RECALL FIX, AND YET, FORD CONTINUES TO FLOOD MY MAIL BOX WITH 'URGENT RECALL' MAIL. EITHER THIS IS NOT AN URGENT RECALL OR FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MY SAFETY; OR MAYBE THE DEALERSHIP IN GENERAL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT MY SAFETY. PLEASE ADVISE, OR AT LEAST GET FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO STOP THE HARASSING RECALL MAIL.THANKS
MY 2010 FORD FUSION'S BRAKES SUDDENLY WENT SOFT WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN AUGUST 2019. ADDITIONAL BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL WAS REQUIRED TO STOP THE CAR, SO I HAD TO LEAVE LARGE SPACES BETWEEN MY CAR AND OTHER CARS IN ORDER TO HAVE ENOUGH STOPPING DISTANCE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO HAD TO FLUSH THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND INSTALL A NEW HCU. THE REPAIRS COST OVER $1400. IN DECEMBER 2019, A RECALL WENT OUT FOR 2010 FORD FUSIONS FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED FORD TO FIND OUT IF I COULD GET REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. FORD INFORMED ME THAT MY PARTICULAR 2010 FORD FUSION IS NOT COVERED IN THIS RECALL, BECAUSE IT IS ONLY COVERING FORD FUSIONS BUILT BETWEEN FEBRUARY 2009 AND JULY 16, 2009. THEY SAID THAT MY FORD WAS BUILT ON JULY 22, 2009 (6 DAYS AFTER THE RECALL CUT-OFF DATE), AND IS THEREFORE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL AND THE MECHANIC HAD TO MAKE THE EXACT SAME REPAIR THAT IS PRESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. NHTSA, I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINS AND HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE, AND WHO HAVE BEEN TOLD BY FORD THAT THEIR CAR IS NOT COVERED FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE IT FALLS OUTSIDE THAT VERY SPECIFIC DATE RANGE. I URGE YOU TO EXPAND THE DATE RANGE FOR THIS RECALL. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAPPENS SUDDENLY, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AND IMPAIRS VEHICLE STOPPING DISTANCE SIGNIFICANTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED ALREADY TO MANY PEOPLE, NOT ONLY THOSE WHO HAD FORD FUSIONS BUILT BETWEEN THE SPECIFIC RECALL DATE RANGE, AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN UNLESS PEOPLE ARE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL AND ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR CARS IN TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. MALFUNCTIONING BRAKES CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. PLEASE NOTE THE URGENCY OF THIS ISSUE AND WORK WITH FORD TO EXPAND THE RECALL DATES.
MY 2010 FORD FUSION WITH 72231 MILES RECENTLY LOST ALL POWER STEERING WHEN STARTED, SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT CAME BACK. NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND INCLUDES SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC WARNING AS WELL AS THE STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WARNING. IT WILL NOT CORRECT ITSELF BY RESTARTING AND IS PERMANENTLY DISABLED. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR WHOM IS 67 YEARS OLD, 110 LB. AND CANNOT PHYSICALLY DRIVE IT. HAD THIS HAPPENED TO HER WHILE DRIVING IT WOULD MOST DEFINITELY RESULTED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT! I AM A RETIRED FORD DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEE AND HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT AND CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NHTSA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE 2010 FUSION BUT DID ON 2011 MODEL WITH EXACT SAME COMPONENT FAILURE AND SAFETY ISSUES! MY CAR IS UNDRIVABLE AND BEING DISABLED I AM UNABLE TO REPAIR MYSELF OR AFFORD PAYING DEALER FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUES.

MIDDLETOWN FORD (1750 N VERITY PKWY, MIDDLETOWN, OH 45042, (800) 556-1581) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD EITHER BE CAUSED BY THE POWER STEERING OR THE GEAR SHIFT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED SHEEHY FORD OF WARRENTON (6443 LEE HWY, WARRENTON, VA 20187) SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY HAD NOT RETURNED HIS TELEPHONE CALLS. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR THE POWER STEERING JUST WENT OUT MAKING MY CAR VERY HARD TO STEER. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME UP ON MY DISPLAY.
POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS ADVANCETRAC SERVICE. THEN WENT TO RESTART CAR AND STEERING COLUMN IS LOCKED. RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE ON 2011 AND NEWR BUT NOT ON 2010 WITH MANY REPORTED ISSUES.
OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS MY FORD FUSION'S TRANSMISSION HAS SLOWLY BEGUN TO LOSE ITS SHIFTING ABILITIES. IT FIRST STARTED WITH SLUGGISH AND JERKY MOVEMENT WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. THEN IT STARTED SLIPPING AND JERKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO SPECIFIC SPEED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE GOING. IT INCREASED TO AN EXTREMELY HIGH REV BEFORE MAKING A LOUD BANG AND HARD SHIFT INTO GEAR. AS OF YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AS I WAS SLOWING TO A STOP THEN WOULDN'T REENGAGE 2ND OR 3RD GEAR. I LIMPED IT DOWN THE ROAD TO THE NEAREST EXIT INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE I STOPPED IN A PARKING SPOT. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE BEFORE TURNING IT BACK ON. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO BACK OUT, REVERSE WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I PUSHED IT OUT OF THE SPOT AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO DRIVE, THEN A QUARTER MILE DOWN THE ROAD ALL DRIVE GEARS WENT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO COAST IT INTO ANOTHER PARKING LOT WHERE I SHUT IT OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 15 MIN TO COOL AND TRIED AGAIN. NOTHING. I LOST ALL GEARS IN THE CAR. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE, SINCE TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC WOULD JUST LEAD TO THEM INFORMING ME OF THE SAME THING THAT ALL OTHER COMPLAINTS AND FORUMS HAVE STATED ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. A TRANSMISSION CHANGE FOR A MINIMUM OF $2500 AND THERE'S NO RECALL ON A VERY WELL DOCUMENTED AND SERIOUS ISSUE REGARDING FORD TRANSMISSIONS.
WHEN I STARTED UP THE CAR & WAS GOING TO PULL OUT THE LIGHT FOR PASSENGER AIR BAG CAME ON, THEN I TURN MY WHEEL & THERE IS LIKE A GRINDING SOUND. I PULLED ON SIDE OF ROAD & HAD SOMEONE COME CHECK IT. THEY SAID SAME THING I DID. I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING RUBBING AGAINST THE TIRE, BUT WHEN WE LOOKED THERE WAS NOTHING. THEN HE KEPT TURNING THE WHEEL & IT SOUNDED MORE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. MY HUSBAND CHECKED UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHEN I GOT HOME & THANK GOODNESS HE DID BECAUSE THE TIE ROD ENDS INSIDE & OUT WERE SO BAD THAT I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE NOT OF CRASHED. STILL THE STEERING IS MAKING THAT LOUD GRINDING, SCREECHING SOUND. AIR BAG & TRAC LIGHTS COME ON OCCASIONALLY STILL ALSO. REALLY FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY CAR HERE THE LAST FEW MONTHS. IVE HAD IT PARKED FOR THE LAST MONTH & BOUGHT JUST SOMETHING TO GET AROUND FOR NOW TIL I CAN AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED OR THEY HAVE A RECALL ON THESE. IVE SEEN SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEMS & I ALSO SEEN THEY RECALLED THE 2011 FOR SAME ISSUES. WHY NOT THE 2010?????

NO PRIOR WARNING. RECENTLY SERVICED FOR AIR BAG RECALL RECENTLY, TOO. MAKING MATTERS WORSE IS THE EXORBITANT DEALER QUOTE OF $2400 TO REPAIR BY REPLACING THE RACK AND PINION.
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
(MY DAILY PATH IS ON CITY STREETS MARKED 45 MPH. INCIDENTS GENERALLY OCCUR AT INTERSECTIONS WITH STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS; I AM CONTINUING STRAIGHT AND NOT TURNING) BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED WHILE DRIVING DURING WET CONDITIONS, CONDITIONS WITH A DUSTING OF SNOW OR IF VEHICLE HITS A BUMP WHILE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. INSTEAD, THE BRAKE PEDAL FALLS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES FORWARD. DRIVER MUST PUMP BRAKE PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES TO GET PEDAL TO RETURN TO NORMAL POSITION AND FOR BRAKES TO ACTIVATE. THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. THE ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT SEEM TO ACTIVATE, AS IT DOES NOT FUNCTION WITH THE NORMAL CHATTERING MOVEMENT THAT AN ABS SYSTEM HAS. DRIVER CAN HEAR A SLIGHT HUM AND FEEL NORMAL PEDAL RESISTANCE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS INITIALLY PRESSED, THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL FALLS TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES FORWARD. THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS OCCUR WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET, AS IT IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. THE BRAKE PADS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE SOMEWHERE AROUND A YEAR OLD. TIRES ARE ABOUT 8 MONTHS OLD AND HAVE FULL TREAD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN 159,000 MILES WITH THE FIRST INCIDENCE OF BRAKE FAILURE HAPPENING SOMEWHERE AROUND 40,000 MILES. I WAS NARROWLY MISSED BY A SEMI TRUCK DRIVER ON FRIDAY MORNING AS I SLID THROUGH A RED LIGHT, ON A WET ROADWAY, WITH MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL WHICH HAD FALLEN TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS NOT JUST A PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE, AS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE ON FORUMS ONLINE. PLEASE MAKE FORD RECALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I HAD A RECURRING ISSUE WHERE THE POWER BRAKES FAILED AND WE WERE FORCED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR TO GET THEM TO WORK. I REPORTED THIS ISSUE A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND WAS CONTACTED BY A NHTSA EMPLOYEE. AT THAT TIME THE DEALER HAD SAID IT WAS PERMANENTLY RESOLVED, WHICH I TOLD THE NHTSA EMPLOYEE. THE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME TO CONTACT HIM IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS EVENING. I REPLIED TO THE EMPLOYEE'S EMAIL, HOWEVER THE EMPLOYEE NO LONGER SEEMS TO WORK THERE. IT OCCURRED WHILE I WAS BACKING SLOWLY OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, AND SHIFTING OUT OF REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE BRAKE ASSIST SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. WAS NOT IN MOTION, TURNED CAR ON AND THERE WAS THE WARNING ON MY DASH. THERE WASNT ANY STEERING. TURNED IT OFF THEN RESTARTED CAR AND THE STEERING WAS BACK. I AM SCARED WHEN I DRIVE BECAUSE I HAVE READ THAT AWNERS HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND LOST STEERING
