TAKATA RECALL - RECEIVED FIRST NOTICE IN JULY 2016, AT OLD ADDRESS - FORWARDED TO NEW ADDRESS; CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO INDICATED PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. CALLED OFTEN STILL NOT AVAILABLE - RECEIVED NOTICE 12/17 THAT PARTS AVAILABLE SPRING OF 2017 AND NOT TO DRIVE WITH PASSENGERS IN FRONT ROW; CALLED FORD - THEY TOLD ME THAT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE BY LATE MAY OR EARLY JUNE 2018 . FINALLY FORD APPROVED A RENTAL CAR BUT I CANNOT TAKE IT OUT OF MY HOME STATE. MY CAR HAS SAT FOR ALMOST A YEAR. I TRAVEL OUT OF STATE - HATE TO FLY BUT DRIVE TO VISIT AND CONSULT. I AM 75 AND MAKING CAR PAYMENT ON A CAR I CANNOT DRIVE.
TAKATA AIRBAG. RECEIVED ORIGINAL LETTER JULY 2016. CONTINUED TO DRIVE CAR ON MANY TRIPS, RECEIVED 2ND LETTER DECEMBER 2017 STATING THAT NO ONE RIDE IN PASSENGER SEAT. THIS WAS NOT IN 1ST LETTER. TO THIS DATE NO AIRBAG. FORD TO MAIL LETTERS FOR REPAIR BY OCT 2018. NO LETTER AS OF THIS DATE. NO HELP FROM CORPORATE.FORD FINALLY GAVE US A RENTAL IN MARCH. FORD SPENT OVER $10,000 ON RENTAL COULD HAVE GIVEN US ANOTHER CAR. WE JUST WANT IT FIXED. CAR IS PARKED. PLEASE HELP!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ROBINSON FORD (1777 IMPERIAL AVE, CALEXICO, CA 92231. 760-357-3141) WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE STEERING HAD FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.

I HAVE BEEN ASKING MY LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR ALMOST ONE YEAR FOR WHEN THIS RECALL REPLACEMENT CAN BE COMPLETED. EACH TIME, THEY SAY THEY CANNOT GET PARTS, BUT HOPE TO HAVE THEM IN THE NEXT CALENDAR QUARTER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAVE THE TWO FRONT TIRES REPLACED, THE STUD ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,380.
FOLLOWING THE REPAIR IN ACCORDANCE WITH A 2011 RECALL ON THE WHEEL LUGS, THE LUGS CONTINUE TO BREAK OFF THE WHEELS. THE TIMES I HAVE NOTICED IT HAPPENING I WAS TURNING AT A SLOW SPEED IN OR OUT OF A DRIVEWAY. IT SEEMS TO CAUSE STRESS ON THE LUGS WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I HEARD A POP AND THEN THE NEXT TIME I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT I HEARD IT AGAIN AND A LUG HAD FALLEN OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR.
LOSS OF POWER DURING ACCELERATION, DUE TO TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. THE ENGINE RUNS AT HIGH RPM, BUT CAR DOESN'T MOVE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AFTER CAR/TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR HOUR OR MORE. IT APPEARS BASED ON INTERNET SEARCHING, TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 6F35 TRANSMISSIONS IN FUSIONS AND ESCAPES. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY ON CITY DRIVING - WHICH AFTER IT IS ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS IS IN THE TOP GEAR. ON HOT DAY, WHEN THE CAR IS WELL WARMED UP, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IS VERY DIFFICULT AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS.

THE CONTACT CALLED GENESEE VALLEY FORD AT 888-625-9958 WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND HE COULD NOT ACCELERATE. HE HAD TO CROSS LANES TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED. CAR RAN OKAY. I CALLED FORD AFTER THIS HAPPENED TWICE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR WAS OVER THE MILEAGE ALLOWED AND WAS NOT COVERED. THEY SAID THEY SENT OUT A CSP#13N03. I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS LETTER. I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AND NOT JUST A BULLETIN. HE ALMOST GOT HIT BOTH TIMES WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN DEC 2010. A RECALL NOTICE IN JAN. 2012 STATED "THE WHEEL STUDS ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY FRACTURE." WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THAT RECALL IN APRIL 2012, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED ONE BROKEN WHEEL STUD BUT DIDN'T INDICATE WHICH WHEEL. IN APRIL 2013, A WHEEL STUD ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT NOTING THE RECALL. IN JUNE 2016, A WHEEL STUD ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BROKE. NOW FORD IS CLAIMING THAT THE WHEEL STUDS WERE NOT RECALLED AND REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR COSTS EVEN THOUGH THE 2012 LETTER OPENS WITH THAT REMARK. THE FORD REPRESENTATIVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT IS RARE THAT WHEEL STUDS BREAK WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE STUDS ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM ON ANY PREVIOUS VEHICLES THAT I'VE OWNED AND HAVE NOT CHANGED MY MANNER OF MAINTENANCE SO I DO NOT BELIEVE MY ACTIONS ARE CAUSING THE STUDS TO BREAK. HAVING EXPERIENCED THREE WHEEL STUD FAILURES IN FIVE YEARS, IT APPEARS THAT THE WHEEL STUDS WERE NOT RELIABLY MANUFACTURED, HAVE AN INCREASED RISK OF BREAKING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, AND POSE A SAFETY RISK FROM POSSIBLE WHEEL SEPARATION.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CAR JUST LOST POWER. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. COULD ONLY DRIVE ABOUT 5 MPH. CAR WAS SHAKING/ CHUGGING AS I TRIED TO GIVE SOME GAS. SHUT CAR OFF AND WAITED 5 MINUTES AND CAR RAN GOOD. HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT HALF HOUR LATER. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT ONCE EVERY MONTH WITH THE CAR BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS. USUALLY HAPPENS AT LOWER SPEEDS BUT THIS TIME I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH (COASTING) AND WENT TO GIVE IT SOME GAS AND SUDDENLY THE ENGINE HAD NO POWER. WHENEVER THIS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY, I WOULD RESTART THE ENGINE . IT WOULD REV IN NEUTRAL OK, BUT IF YOU PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON AGAIN AND YOU WOULD HAVE NO POWER. IF YOU LET THE CAR REST FOR A MINUTE OR TWO BEFORE RE-STARTING CHANCES ARE YOUR OK.
I HAVE MULTIPLE ITEMS THAT HAVE COME ABOUT ALL OF A SUDDEN OVER THE LAST MONTH OR TWO FOR NO APPARENT REASON. 1.) FUEL FILL INLET MESSAGE HAS APPEARED ON THE DASH, ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. 2.) DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE JUST STOPPED WORKING. 3.) THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS INTERMITTENTLY STOPPED WORKING. COOL AIR COMES AND GOES, AND FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR IT SEEMS THE FAN STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.
POWER STEERING ON THE CAR WENT OUT ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THE WHEEL COULD NOT BE TURNED AT ALL. A WARNING SAYING SERVICE ADVANCETRAC CAME ON. THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT!
WILL APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT ON GODDARD AND FORT ST. CAR ACCELERATED WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE STARTED ACROSS FORT ST AGAINST RED LIGHT WHILE I WASH PLAYING DODGEM CARD ONLY WAY TO STOP CAR WAS TO SLAM IT IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME I STARTED CAR AND MOTOR RACING TURNED OFF TO STOP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,180.
REPORTED MY FORD FUSION ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE YESTERDAY. LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY - TERRIFYING EXERIENCE. IT IS FIELD SERVICE ACTION 13N03. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY CAN'T DIAGNOSE BECAUSE THE WRENCH LIGHT IS NOT ON RIGHT NOW. READING POST, OTHER OWNERS STATE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF UNTIL CAR IS DRIVABLE. MY CAR JUST STARTED ACTING UP, BUT I CAN'T GET IT FIXED SINCE IT IS NOT A RECALL. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I'VE ATTACHED MY CONVERSATION WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE CHAT.
THROTTLE BODY ACCELERATOR. STARTED THE VEHICLE, ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHT ON. CAR ACCELERATION WAS JERKY, ALMOST STALLED, AND UNDERPOWERED. INTERNET STATES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALL.
TWO YEARS LATER I WAS STOPPED AT A 3 WAY STOP MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT A MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELD. AS I WAS MAKING MY TURN MY CAR WOULD NOT MAKE THE TURN. MY CAR WENT STRAIGHT AND LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. THE GROUND WAS LEVEL OR MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED. I HAD NO STEERING OR BRAKES AND I THOUGHT MY CAR HAD WENT DEAD. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR I REALIZED MY CAR WAS RUNNING AND BELLS WERE CHIMING ALONG WITH ADVANCE TRAC POWER STEERING FAILURE. I HAD NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. THIS WAS IN APRIL 2015. ALMOST $2000.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. GUESS WHAT HAPPENS 1 YEAR LATER WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THERE ARE STATE PRISONERS SLOWING TRAFFIC WHEN MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT AGAIN WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT DID THE REPAIR I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A WARRNATY ON PARTS BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY LABOR. AFTER CONTACTING FORD I WAS TOLD THAT PARTS AND LABOR WERE BOTH COVERED. I WILL TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO GET THE REPAIR. WHEN I THINK ABOUT DRIVING CROSS COUNTRY WITH OUR 3 GRANDCHILDREN AND THINK ABOUT THIS HAPPENING ON THE CURVY MOUNTAIN ROADS IT TERRIFIES ME. I AM DISGUSTED WITH FORD. THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS YEAR MODEL CAR JUST LIKE THEY DID THE OTHER YEARS. I AM TIRED OF HAVING THIS CAR IN THE SHOP WITH ALL THE MAJOR REPAIRS. I DO HAVE REPAIR RECORDS THEY ARE NOT WITH ME AT THE MOMENT.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE EDGE. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,873.
LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT PREPARING TO LEAVE INSTEAD OF ON THE ROAD LIKE SOME OF THE PEOPLE I'VE READ ABOUT. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT GREAT EFFORT. I HAD TO STRAIN TO GET THE CAR HOME. WHY ISN'T THIS PART OF THE RECALL? IT'S ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT FORD CAN SELL CARS THEY KNOW ARE DEFECTIVE. I CAN IN NO WAY AFFORD THE $1000+ IT'LL COST TO FIX A MISTAKE THEY ALREADY KNEW WAS THERE. FORD IS HORRIFIC. IS THERE ANY WONDER WHY PEOPLE BUY IMPORTS?
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. A KNOWN HIGH FAILURE ITEM WHICH FORD HAS IGNORED. CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AT 75 MPH, ABLE TO MAINTAIN 40 MPH WITH BARRICADES PREVENTING GETTING TO A SAFE LOCATION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! AT A MINIMUM FORD SHOULD NOTIFY ALL OWNERS THIS IS AN ISSUE VERY LIKELY TO HAPPEN AND SHOULD BE INSPECTED BY FORD. THE SERVICE WRITER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS WHEN I DROPPED THE CAR OFF, SEEN IT MANY TIMES.
WE PURCHASED THE CAR USED IN 2013 AND HAD TO HAVE A MOTOR PUT IN 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE TOOK IMMEDIATELY TO A MECHANIC AND THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL - FORD HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE A TIMELY FIX FOR MY AIRBAG DEFECT. GIVEN THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH, I CONSIDER THIS UNACCEPTABLE THAT AFTER NEARLY SIX MONTH I HAVE BEEN OFFERED NO SOLUTION. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE FORD HAS NO REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS. I AM SURE IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF A DEPLOYED BAG PAID FOR BY ME OR INSURANCE, THE BODY SHOP WOULD HAVE ONE. TAKATA INFLATORS. WE WERE MAILED AN "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" LETTER ON JUNE 15, 2016 AND RECEIVED ANOTHER ONE IN JULY 2016. THIS IS OCTOBER 2017 AND OUR AIR BAG RECALL SITUATION HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN CARE OF! WHEN I HAVE CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHERE WE PURCHASED OUR CAR, TO ASK WHEN THIS WOULD BE REPAIRED, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY YET, BUT TO BE ASSURED, I WOULD BE THE "FIRST ONE CALLED WHEN THERE IS," AND THIS STATEMENT WAS INSIGNIFICANT TO ME, EVEN USELESS. EVERYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM, GIVEN THE WARNINGS, SHOULD BE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST, NOT JUST INSTRUCTED TO SIMPLY "NOT USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT" UNTIL THE AIRBAG IS REPLACED! WATER PUMP IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION SPORT (3.5 LITER V6 ENGINE) FAILED, CAUSING SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE AND SUDDEN OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHEN I NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE RISING QUICKLY TO THE TOP. I HAD TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR ONLY HAD 54,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND HAD BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH DOCUMENTED REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND PERIODIC MAINTENANCE PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP.

THE INTERIOD DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH HAS STOPPED WORKING. I CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE.I CAN PULL THE LATCH HANDLE, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. MY 2010 FUSION HAS 86,000 MILES.THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN IN THAT I AM BASICALLY TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE LOSES ACCELERATION A WRENCH ILLUMINATES ON THE DASH AND I HAVE BOTH P2111 AND P2112 TROUBLE CODES WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE AND BE RESTARTED IN ORDER TO ACCELERATE. 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID WITH 46,900 MILES ON IT.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MY VEHICLE LOST POWER (I.E. THE ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS STAYED ACTIVE, HOWEVER MY ACCELERATOR NO LONGER WAS OPERABLE). I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND MY ENGINE BEGAN TO OPERATE IN A ROUGH MANNER. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY RPM INDICATOR WAS BOUNCING ERRATICALLY FROM LOW TO ABOUT HALF WAY ALONG THE DIAL. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED. I SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT BACK ON AND OPERATION WAS RESTORED.
