STARTED TO ACCELERATE AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE, SHUDDERED, AND THEN LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NO MATTER HOW HARD THE GAS WAS PRESSED CAUSING ME TO BE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. A WRENCH LIGHT INDICATING A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WAS INDICATED ON THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP ALONG AT <5 MPH TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTING CLEARED THE ERROR CODE ON THE DASH AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE REMAINING 0.5 MILES TO WORK. CALLING FORD THEY INDICATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE ERROR CODE WAS CLEARED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" NOTICE CAME ON. I PARKED MY CAR AND WHEN I CRANKED IT BACK UP AN HOUR LATER, THE CAR WOULD NOT STEER. I COULD NOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND UPON DIAGNOSIS WAS TOLD IT IS A BAD MODULE IN THE STEERING RACK, THUS HAVING TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK! ALL IN WITH PARTS AND LABOR $ 2076. OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE UPON ENGAGING THE PEDAL. THE ENGINE AND WRENCH SYMBOL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND ACTUATOR WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. FUSION CUT POWER BECAUSE OF A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY AT AROUND 45 MPH. THIS RETURNED A CODE P2112 AND P2111 ON MY CODE READER. ONCE PUT INTO THE SHOP, THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME IT MAY BE WEEKS OR MONTHS BEFORE A PART IS AVAILABLE AND I AM CURRENTLY WITHOUT A VEHICLE. MY WARRANTY ONLY COVERED FOR 3 DAYS FOR RENTAL SO NOW I DO NOT HAVE A CAR. VERY FRUSTRATING. *TR
TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70-75 MPH ON US HIGHWAY VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ENTERED INTO A LIMITED POWER "LIMP HOME" MODE, DROPPING ENGINE TO IDLE SPEED AND CAUSING A WRENCH LIGHT TO ACTIVATE ON THE DASH AND ACTIVATION OF "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. VEHICLE LOSING POWER NEARLY RESULTED IN MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION WITH OTHER VEHICLES. AFTER MOVING TO SHOULDER OF ROADWAY AND SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE AND TURNING IT BACK ON THE PROBLEM CORRECTED FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES WHERE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN, THIS TIME AT SPEEDS APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. AFTER SHUTTING OFF AND POWERING BACK ON VEHICLE THE PROBLEM AGAIN CORRECTED FOR LESS THAN A MILE. VEHICLE CONTINUED SAME PROBLEM AFTER SHUTDOWN ANOTHER 8 TIMES WITHIN 5 MILES. ONLY ROADSIDE CORRECTION TO ISSUE WAS TO REMOVE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO RESET COMPUTER. AFTER COMPLETING THIS TASK VEHICLE WOULD RUN NORMALLY FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES WHERE ISSUE WOULD RETURN. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHOP WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER SHOWED CODES OF P2112 AND P2111, THROTTLE ACTUATOR STUCK OPEN AND THROTTLE ACTUATOR STUCK CLOSED. REQUIRED REPAIR APPEARS TO BE COMPLETE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *TR
DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY THE CAR QUICKLY AND RANDOMLY LOST ACCELERATION AND JERKED VIOLENTLY. I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND NEARLY WAS REAR ENDED BY VEHICLE BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND MOVE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. TURNED CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE FIXED. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE MY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL AS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN MY VEHICLE. THIS FIX IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY OR RECALLED BY FORD. NOT ONLY THAT BUT I WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SHOULD GET IT FIXED (AS IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON EXPRESSWAY). TWO DAYS LATER SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. LUCKILY NO TRAFFIC WAS NEARBY AS THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED YET ANOTHER ACCIDENT. *TR
JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED ON APRIL 15, 2013. I HAVEN'T EVEN MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT. I GET OFF WORK AT 11:15 P.M. AND GO TO GET IN THE CAR AND IT WON'T START. THANK GOODNESS FOR SOME CO-WORKERS THAT WERE HANGING OUT. THEY TRY TO JUMP IT BUT IT WASN'T THE BATTERY. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH NO FAMILY AROUND AND I WAS EXTREMELY STRESSED AT THAT POINT. THEY MESSED WITH IT FOR A BIT AND IT HAPPENED TO BE THE SOLENOID (SPELLING) OR STARTER. I GOT HOME AND TRIED TO CRANK IT THIS MORNING AND AGAIN IT WOULDN'T START. I AM IN COMPLETE PANIC AS THIS IS MY ONLY CAR AND I HAVE TO WORK. I'M NEW TO THE AREA AND HAVE NO FRIENDS OR FAMILY SO I AM REALLY HOPING SINCE I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO DEALER THAT IT IS COVERED AND THEY GET IT FIXED TODAY. THIS IS HORRIBLE. GOING OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR CAR CUT OFF ON HIGHWAY LIKELY DID NOT GET KILLED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. TURNED OFF THEN IT RESTARTED. NOW DOES IT ALL THE TIME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE SAYING IT IS A THROTTLE BODY AND I DO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS. NO ONE HAS THIS PART SHORTAGE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE ROAD AT A RATE OF APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO ENTER AN EXIT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND I ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE CEMENT BARRIER AS THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING AFTER GOING THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE CAR WAS NOT RESPONSIVE TO THE ACCELERATION. I LOOKED DOWN AT INSTRUMENT PANEL AND NOTICED THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROLLER/TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS LIT UP. I STEPPED ON THE GAS MORE BUT THE CAR JUST SLOWED DOWN TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, PUT THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON AND SHUT IT OFF. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE CAR SEEMED TO OPERATE NORMALLY. ON A SEPARATE NOTE, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE CAR CLUNKS WHEN REVERSING (ONCE CLUNKED SO VIOLENTLY THAT THE CAN OF SODA IN THE DOOR FLEW UP AND SPLASHED UP THE DOOR) AND OCCASIONALLY THERE IS ACCELERATION HESITATION FROM 2ND TO THIRD GEAR. *TR
THE CAR HAS CUT OFF IN TRAFFIC NUMEROUS TIME AND 3 CLOSE CALLS ON ACCIDENTS. THROTTLE BODY WAS THE PROBLEM.CALLED FORD AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE # AND SAID THAT THEY COULDNOT HELP KNOWING THAT THE HAVE A PROBLEM. FORD MECHS THAT I HAVE TALK TO HAVE SAID THAT THEY HAVE REPLACE ALOT OF THE THROTTLE BODYS AND FOR WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM PROBABLY UNTIL SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR INJURED WHILE THE CAR HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN RUNNING 60MPH. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT 65MPH DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN JOLT AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STOPPED RESPONDING AND THE ENGINE IDLED AT 500-600 RPM. THE ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHTS CAME ON. I SLOWLY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR WAS SHAKING BADLY. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I TOOK OFF BUT IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALER. TURNS OUT IT'S THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (PART# DS7Z9E926A) AND THEY CHARGED ME $380 TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. I'M SURPRISED FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON "SUSPECTED" FAULTY WHEEL STUDS BUT NOT AN ISSUE AS BIG AS THROTTLE BODY WITH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY IF IT HAPPENS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. *TR
DRIVING AT LOW SPEED ON RESIDENTIAL STREET. ENGINE STUTTERED, WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THROTTLE RESPONSE BECAME NONEXISTENT. ERROR CODE SHOWN WAS FOR STUCK OPEN/ CLOSED THROTTLE BODY. *TR
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST ON THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE CAR WAS VERY HARD TO STEER AND IT HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE DAY. I HAVE READ OF THE SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER THE INTERNET. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AS I HAVE READ THEY ARE GOING TO EQUIP 90 PERCENT OF ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS TYPE OF POWER STEERING. *TR
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH WHEN CAR SUDDENLY WOULDN'T RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE AND ALMOST COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER...VERY BAD VIBRATION AND BUCKING... WRENCH LIGHT ON DASH WENT ON ... WITHIN 50 FEET CAR AGAIN WENT INTO CREEP MODE AND AGAIN WITH LUCK GOT OFF THE ROAD... CALLED FOR TOW... TODAY DEALER CALLED US THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY... STILL FORD WILL NOT ADMIT A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE... THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
THE THROTTLE BODY IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE. MY INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A HILL, I HAD TO GO INTO REVERSE TO FIND A SAFE PLAVE TO TURN OFF MY CAR TO RESTART. WAS DRIVING FOR ABOUT 1 MILE, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BUT NO THROTTLE ON A VERY BUSY ROAD LUCKY WAS ABLE TO GET PULL OVER . I FEEL THAT A CAR WITH ONLY 45,504 MILES SHOULD NOT DONE THAT . I KEEP MY MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE. AND WAS NOT COVER UNDER MY WARRANTY. THAT'S $ 450.00 I DIDN'T HAVE { THROTTLE BODY} THAT'S IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE FELT UNSAFE DRIVING MY CAR. FOR BEING A WOMAN THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AT A FASTER SPEED IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER FOR EVERYONE . THANK YOU. *TR
I HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE - PREVIOUS ODI # 10499938. THE CAR IS IN A FORWARD MOTION WHEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN LOSES ALL POWER WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT JERKS, SHIMMIES ETC. AND MOVES FORWARD BY INCHES OR NOT AT ALL. PREVIOUSLY THIS HAS HAPPENED AND I TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALER WHO PUT A "RECORDER" ON IT, AND OVER 2-3 WEEKS WENT BY AND IT NEVER DID IT AGAIN. THIS WAS IN LATE 2012, EARLY 2013. NOW THE WEATHER HAS WARMED UP AND STARTING ON MAY 4, 2013 THE CAR HAS DONE THIS SAME BEHAVIOR EVERY DAY AT LEAST 2X PER DAY OR MORE. WE HAVE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO PREVIOUSLY PUT THE RECORDER ON IT ( AND WHOM HAD A SERVICE PERSON WORKING THERE AT THE TIME HAT TOLD ME HE FELT IT WAS DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY) . THEY JUST CALLED US AND TOLD US THEY HAVE NOW BEEN ABLE TO GET CODES FOR THE PROBLEM AND IT IS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WILL COST US CLOSE TO $700 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS MY FIRST FORD CAR AND IT WILL BE MY LAST IF THEY DON'T TAKE CARE OF THIS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER CAR WEBSITES AND HAS BEEN FOR SOME TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 37 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65MPH+), CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND SLOWED, SHUDDERING AS IT STOPPED. DIFFICULT TO RESTART, ABLE TO CONTINUE ON DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MILES BEFORE OCCURRING AGAIN. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALER IN THE AREA FOR SERVICE. DIAGNOSED AS THROTTLE BODY FAILURE; DEALER SERVICE HAS REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AS OF 5/3/2013. *TR
I WAS JUST LEAVING THE STREET FROM OUR SUBDIVISION DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR, MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN WHEN THERE WAS A BREAK IN TRAFFIC AND JUST AS I WAS ACCELERATING THE ENGINE JUST SEEMED TO DIE. I WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AT A ROUGH IDLE AND A "WRENCH" SYMBOL SHOWED UP ON MY DASH. WHEN THE TRAFFIC CLEARED I WAS ABLE TO BACK UP INTO THE STREET INTO OUR SUBDIVISION, GOT THE CAR TURNED AROUND AND DROVE BACK TO MY HOUSE AT LESS THAN 5MPH. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SET FOR A WHILE I STARTED IT UP AND IT RAN FINE. I THEN CALLED A MECHANIC AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND ASKED HIM TO CHECK IT OUT, WHICH HE AGREED TO DO. DURING THE DRIVE TO THE MECHANIC THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED ABOUT 1/2 MILE FROM HIS LOCATION AND I WAS AGAIN ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND MADE IT TO HIS LOCATION. AFTER LEAVING THE CAR AT HIS LOCATION I WENT ON LINE TO RESEARCH IF ANY OTHER 2010 FUSION OWNERS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS THAT HAD, MANY OF WHOM CONTACTED FORD WITH NO LUCK IN GETTING THEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I ALSO CALLED FORD TO DISCUSS THIS WITH THEM AND ASKED WHY THEY HAD NOT INITIATED A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IT WAS WHAT I CONSIDERED TO BE AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARDS FOR DRIVERS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE FOR WHICH A RECALL NOTICE HAD BEEN INITIATED. I HAVE HAD FORD PRODUCTS FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND WAS VERY SURPRISED THAT THIS WAS THE KIND OF RESPONSE I GOT. I AM SURPRISED THAT SOMEONE HAS NOT INITIATED A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST THEM FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS SUCH A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
WAS ON THE INTERSTATE, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, CAR LOST POWER AND BEGAN JERKING. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS, MY ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD, NUMBER 2 WAS BAD, AND NUMBER 3 WAS BAD. NOW I AM ON THROTTLE BODY NUMBER 4, WHICH I BOUGHT NEW FROM A DEALERSHIP IN CALIFORNIA. IT TOOK DAYS TO FIND IT, AS NEW THROTTLE BODIES ARE ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. I WONDER WHY? *TR
THE ENGINE SURGES WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I ALSO ALMOST RAN INTO ITEMS IN THE GARAGE AS I PULLED IN SLOWLY AND THEN IT SURGED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY HAVING CARBON BUILD UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE REGAINED SOME ACCELERATION AFTER IT WAS RESTARTED, BUT CONTINUED TO STALL DURING ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE THROTTLE BODY SYSTEM WAS RESET; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
DRIVING ALONG AND VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE. CANNOT ACCELERATE. PULL OVER TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART. CAR STARTS UP AND RUNS FINE UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHICH HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW AND MORE FREQUENT. CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY DEALER SO I HAVE TO BUT THE PART AND INSTALL IT MYSELF. NO CODES SHOW UP JUST A WRENCH. TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME WHAT TO REPLACE BUT IF I TAKE IT TO THEM THEY WILL CHARGE A FEE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, THEN THEY CHARGE ANOTHER FEE FOR REPLACING THE PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME IN AUGUST OF 2014, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED IN JULY OF 2016. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE YET TO RECV A REPAIR FOR THIS SITUATION. THIS PUTS MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND CLIENTS KNOWINGLY AT RISK. WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSE TO DO REGARDING A REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER SHOULD BE PART TO BLAME BECAUSE THEY CHOSE TO USE THOSE PARTICULAR BAGS.
I TOO EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AS I HAVE SEEN REPEATEDLY REPORTED WITH THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS GOING AT A LOWER RATE OF SPEED, WHEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED OVER INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF MY ENGINE AND WHEN RESTARTED THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER LIGHT UP. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY HOME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND ATTEMPTED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY A QUARTER OF A MILE AND THE SAME LOSS OF RESPONSE TO THE THROTTLE AND STALLING OCCURRED WHEN I PULLED BACK INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THERE WAS A "NATIONWIDE BACKORDER" FOR THE PART. I INQUIRED WHY WAS THERE A BACKORDER? THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE REPLIED THAT WAS A GOOD QUESTION HE DID NOT KNOW. PERHAPS IT IS BECAUSE SO MANY NEED TO BE REPLACED! I WAS QUOTED $420.00. I CALLED LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE PARTS STORES AND THEY ALL SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART AND REFERRED ME BACK TO THE DEALER, IT APPEARS IT IS VERY EASY TO REPLACE, YOU CAN YOUTUBE IT. ALSO I READ THE CODE WILL ONLY APPEAR IF THE WRENCH LIGHT IS STILL LIGHT. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED THAT FORD DOES NOT TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS ON MANY WEBSITE SEARCHES INDICATING THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2010 FUSION. THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. I PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STALLED AND GAVE OUT IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, LOOKOUT FORD. I WAS TOLD BY THEIR MAINTENANCE TECH THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THIS FIX CAME WITH A BILL OF OVER $450.00. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED A FEW MONTHS AGO. AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AT A STOP LIGHT, THE CAR'S ENGINE SEEMED TO LOSE POWER AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I ROLLED TO A STOP AT THE CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION, AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. IN PARK, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE SO, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER A MINUTE I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, THE CAR SEEMED TO RUN FINE AFTERWARDS WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. YESTERDAY (4/30/13), THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS GOING 40 MPH AND HAD TO PULL PROMPTLY TO SHOULDER TO AVOID BEING HIT BY THE UNSUSPECTING DRIVER BEHIND ME. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GO A FEW FEET BEFORE THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I WAS UNABLE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE ABOVE 900 RPMS. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE THEN RESTARTED AND THE WRENCH LIGHT HAD GONE OFF AND THE CAR DROVE FINE. THE NEXT DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND ON MY WAY THERE THE CAR STALLED OUT ON ME TWICE MORE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY ENROUTE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT WILL COST ME SOMEWHERE AROUND $400 AND THE PARTS (THROTTLE BODY) ARE ON BACK ORDER BY THE MANUFACTURER AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY ARE TO BE EXPECTED IN FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I CALLED AROUND TO DIFFERENT AUTOPART STORES AND OTHER FORD REPAIR SHOPS AND EVERYONE IS SAYING THE SAME THING. NO ONE KNOWS WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS TELLS ME THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR THESE PARTS TO BE ON BACK ORDER AND NO ONE IS ABSORBING THE COSTS FOR A RENTAL CAR WHILE FORD TRY WORK ON THE PROBLEM. I STARTED SMELLING GASOLINE EVERY TIME I WOULD GET OUT OF MY CAR OR WALK TOWARDS IT. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION I HAD "SPILLED SOME", BUT ON 6/9/2014 I NOTICED A PUDDLE OF SOMETHING IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED BUT THE DEALER FOUND TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED AT THE DRIVER FRONT TIRE AREA AND ALSO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE BRAKE FLUID BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CONTACT ALSO WANTED TO STATE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS VEHICLE 57,000. UPDATED 08/27/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER TO THE WHEELS AND THE ABILITY TO STEER BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. CAR IS AT DEALERSHIP NOW, THEY RESET THE SYSTEM AND IT'S NOW WORKING BUT THEY WANT ME TO BUY A NEW STEERING RACK WHICH IS $1100 PLUS LABOR BUT CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IS THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT EXACTLY IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND RESETTING THE SYSTEM FIXES IT, THEY GUARANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IF I DON'T REPLACE THE STEERING RACK. *TR

VEHICLE CUT OFF AFTER IT REACHED 50 MPH AND WOULD START BACK AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OFF. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, AS I WAS PASSING A VEHICLE, MY CAR CUT OUT AT AROUND 70 MPH. AFTER MY ENGINE CUT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. AS I WAS RESTARTING, THE CAR TOOK A LITTLE EXTRA CRANKS TO TURN OVER. UPON RESTARTING, THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE CARD DROVE FINE. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2010 FORD FUSION 2 YEARS AGO AND I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH IT UP UNTIL JUST RECENTLY. THE OTHER MORNING I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE GYM AND THE CAR LOST TOTAL POWER, SPUTTERED THEN JUST DIED. IT STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT HAD TO GO TO THE DEALER AND THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THIS HAS BEEN VERY COMMON IN THIS YEAR OF THE FORDS. IT IS EXTREMELY UPSETTING AS IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHEN I WAS ON THE FREEWAY, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A REAL PROBLEM. THE TOTAL COST FOR THE REPAIRS WAS 600.00. I REALLY HOPE FORD PLACES A RECALL ON THESE THROTTLE BODIES, THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
