POWER STEERING ASSIST FUALT.. DROVE FINE AND THE STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING DURING A TURN. ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR.THIS WAS A A STATE HIGHWAY THROUGH TOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS FAULTY AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. A MESSAGE INDICATING 'POWER STEERING FAULT' WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BRINSON FORD (2970 STATE HWY 31 E, ATHENS, TX 75751, (903) 676-5200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,700.
TAKATA RECALL -- I'VE CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (SHEEHY FORD, WARRENTON (540) 347-1234) TWICE (APRIL 2019) AND (JUNE 2019) IN RESPONSE TO RECEIPT OF NOTICE OF AIRBAG RECALL. DEALER SAYS THAT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAGS, I AM BEING PUT ON A WAITING LIST, AND WILL RECEIVE A CALL BACK. DEALER HAS NEVER CALLED BACK. TODAY RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES NOTIFYING ME THAT MY AIR BAGS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THERE IS NO RECORD OF MY HAVING ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS IS NOT CORRECT.
FOR THE LAST YEAR EXPERIENCING PROGRESSIVELY WORSENING DRIVABILITY ISSUES. THE MOST CONCERNING IS STEADILY INCREASING THROTTLE LAG (TIME BETWEEN APPLYING MORE PRESSURE TO ACCELERATOR AND VEHICLE RESPONDING), WHICH I VIEW AS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY WHEN APPLYING THROTTLE, WHICH MAY INCREASE RISK OF ACCIDENT B/C VEHICLE MAY NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHEN NEEDED EITHER PLACING ME AT RISK BECAUSE IT LEAVES ME IN THE PATH OF ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PREVENTS MY VEHICLE FROM EXPEDITIOUSLY RESPONDING TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE.. SECONDARILY VEHICLE NOW OPERATING ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY IN GAS POWER MODE (WORSENING MPG EFFICIENCY) BUT ALSO CAUSING JERKING/HESITATION WHEN TRANSITIONING BETWEEN GAS/EV MODES. THIS POWERTRAIN WAS NOT DESIGNED TO WORK IN GAS ONLY BUT AS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN GAS/EV, THEREFORE IN GAS ALONE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS MANY OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCE SAME PROBLEM. TO DEALER SERVICE X 3 - 1ST 2 DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG. FINALLY GIVEN A FORD SERVICE BULLETIN (ATTACHED) THAT FORD IS AWARE FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS AND FORBIDS SERVICE TO THE CAR! THUS I HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT FORD HAS NO SOLUTION FOR REPAIR FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS, AND NO INDICATION OF WHEN THIS WILL BE ADDRESSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). SUNNYVALE FORD (650 EAST EL CAMINO REAL, SUNNYVALE, CA 94087, 888-598-7525) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
POWER STEERING STEER GEAR QUIT WORKING
DEAR SIRS, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHOWED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" WHILE I DRIVING ON THE STREET. AND STEERING COLUMN LOCKED. I IMMEDIATELY SLOW DOWN AND PULLOVER THE ROADSIDE. AFTER THIS, STEERING COLUMN CAN BE TURNED, BUT VERY HARD AND ONLY WITHIN A NARROW ANGLE. THEREFORE I GO ONLINE TO CHECK, AND FOUND OUT MY FORD FUSION 2011 SHOULD BE UNDER "NHTSA SAFETY RECALL NO. 15V340000 - LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST.(POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) FAILED)" PLEASE CHECK MY VIN [XXX], IT SHOULD BE UNDER "FORD'S RECALL LIST". VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AFTER DRIVING. THE INTERIOR, DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM FAILED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THIS WAS THE CASE IF THE VEHICLE WAS ON OR OFF, AND THE CASE IF THE LOCKS WERE ENGAGED OR DISENGAGED. IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. HE OR SHE WOULD NEED TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND/OR CRAWL TO ANOTHER DOOR. THE EXTERIOR HANDLE DOES STILL OPERATE THE LATCH.
I HAD RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2011 FORD FUSION SE AND MY VEHICLE HAS ROUGH DOWNSHIFTING. I HAD READ ONLINE ABOUT A LOT OF THE YEARS HAVING THESE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. WHEN IN A LOT OF TRAFFIC HARSH DOWNSHIFTING HAPPENS WHICH MEANS MORE BRAKE PRESSURE AND I FEEL LIKE THIS IS UNSAFE AS IT COULD CAUSE A ACCIDENT.IN TRAFFIC I FEEL LIKE THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUNSET FORD (11700 GRAVOIS RD, ST. LOUIS, MO 63127, 888-642-6776) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 158,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED STEERING WENT OUT DRIVING 30MPH DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. CONSUMER FOUND OUT ONLY CERTAIN FUSIONS MADE IN CERTAIN PLANTS WERE COVERED IN THE RECALL BUT NOT THEIRS. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,157.

ON A MONDAY MORNING A LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD CAME ON AND IT SAID STEERING POWER SERVICE NOW, THIS CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME STIFF AND HARD TO CONTROL. WHILE I LOOK ALL OVER UNDER THE HOOD TO FIND THE STEERING POWER FUEL RESERVOIR I COULDN'T FIND ONE. ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AS I WAS DRIVING A SHARP CORNER IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR ENDING UP HITTING THE BRIDGE IN THE ROAD. THE LOW TRACTION AS WELL CAME ON WHEN THE STEERING POWER LIGHT APPEARED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
FORD FUSION 2011, BOUGHT NEW FROM THE SAME FORD DEALER, WHO SERVICED IT AND CHECKED IT OUT WHEN I BOUGHT IT FROM FRIENDS. SAME FORD DEALER CLAIMED CAR WAS 100% BUT LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. WHEN I STARTED CAR FROM STATIONARY, LIGHTS SAID: POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. SWITCHED OFF, RESTARTED SEEMED FINE. I AM STUDENT, HAVE TO MAKE DO, DO NOT HAVE MANY OPTIONS! NEXT TIME I STARTED, IT SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, AND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL! I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. NEXT TIME IT STARTED FINE, BUT THE 3RD TIME, IT REFUSED TO CORRECT ITSELF. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT SEEMS STEERING COULD HAVE FAILED ANY TIME WHILE I WAS DRIVING! HAD TO TOW IT BACK TO SAME FORD DEALER. CANNOT DRIVE CAR AT ALL! APPARENTLY FORD REFUSES TO GRANT A RECALL FOR OUR CAR EVEN THOUGH ALL OVER INTERNET, IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS VERY SAME MODEL AND YEAR WAS RECALLED FOR THIS VERY SAME REASON. CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY EXTRA $2,000. I'M A STUDENT, JUST PAID OFF THE CAR IN GOOD FAITH, NO EXTRA MONEY, YET NO USE OF IT, BEEN MORE THAN 6 MONTHS. FORD OWES US! NO CONTROL OVER STEERING, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM IS KNOWN TO HAVE FAILED AND DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED!
I WAS DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY TURNING ON CURB WITH 40 MPH AND PROMPTLY MY STEERING LOST POWER GOT LOCKED I COULDN'T DO NOTHING I JUST TURNED FLASHES ON AND BRAKED SOMEONE IN THE BACK HIT ME AND RUN AWAY.
MY FIANCE WENT TO START THE CARE TO GO TO WORK AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNINGS WERE ON. SHE COULDN'T EVEN TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IF SHE HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH OUR 2 YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAT THEY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS THAT I HAVE FOUND WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS WHY HAD THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED, SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH COULD OCCUR. THEN THERE WOULD BE MULTIPLE LAWSUITS
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE STEERING LOCKED UP , I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND EASED MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER NOT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS COMING HOME I TURNED ONTO MY STREET AND BEFORE I COULD LINE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO IT'S PROPER POSITION IT LOCKED UP AGAIN. KNOWING THAT IT HAS AN ELECTRONIC PUMP I AUTOMATICALLY CHECKED THE FUSE. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I HAD IT TOWED TO HAVE IT PUT ON A MACHINE AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS A FAULTY PUMP AND I WAS NOT THE FIRST PERSON THEY HAD TALKED TO ABOUT THIS. SO I'M MAKING THIS CONTACT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT SOME WEARING OUT OF A PART OVER TIME, THIS IS A PART THAT 'NEEDED TO BE RECALLED AND/OR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED BEFORE IT BECOMES A VERY SERIOUS INCIDENT. I FILE THIS COMPLAINT NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF BUT FOR ALL THE OTHER VEHICLES OUT THERE THAT MAY HAVE THIS SAME MALFUNCTION. NOT ONLY THOSE WITH VEHICLES BUT THE PEDESTRIANS YOUNG AND OLD WHO ARE PUT IN HARMS WAY. AS A SUGGESTION TO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY BEFORE THEIR FOCUS IS JUST HOW MANY VEHICLES WE CAN PUT OUT AND IN RETURN THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS BEING MADE AT THE FULL SUBJECTION OF INNOCENT HARD WORKING PEOPLE. IT'S NOT RIGHT AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE VERY SOON. TO THIS DAY I HAVE TO LEAVE A VEHICLE PARKED THAT IS BEING PAID AND INSURED WHICH IS NOT FAIR TO ME AND I ASK THAT I'M CONTACTED SOON TO RESOLVE THIS MOST SERIOUS MATTER.

WENT TO WORK WHILE PARKING THE CAR IN THE STREET THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAIL. I CALL ONE DEALER TOLD ME NO APPOINTMENT FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS I WILL CONTACT ANOTHER DEALER. I HAD IT CHECKED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HE SAID THAT THE POWER ELECTRIC RACK-AND-PINION FAIL. CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR I WAS LUCKY IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS PARKING AND NOT WHEN I WAS DRIVING
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A MONTH NOW AND EVERY TIME I CALL FORD THEY TELL ME THAT MY CAR ISN'T UP FOR A RECALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND IT HAS AFFECTED MY HORN, OR ANYTHING ELSE CONTROLLING MY STEERING WHEEL. MY POWER STEERING HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE STEERING (IN STATIONARY POSITION) LOCKS UP AND POWER STEERING FAILURE LIGHT COMES ON. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND RE START AND ITS FINE. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME HARD TO MANUEVER AND MAKES A NOISE ESPECIALLY ON LEFT TURNS. PROBLEM IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE.THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND MY FORD DEALER REFUSES TO COVER THE FIX BECAUSE IT HAS OVER 100,000 MILES.
SOME TIMES MY POWER STEERING DOESN'T WORK & GOES TO MANUAL, WENT TO DEALER IN 2017 AND WAS TOLD NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, NOW I WAS TOLD MILES WENT 2 150,000 SOME MILES & MINE ARE OVER THAT, THIS COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING COULD CAUSE ACCIDENT, HAPPENED AFTER I STARTED TO DRIVE DOWN STREET

THE POWER STEERING MODULATOR WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE POWER STEERING GEAR WAS NOT REPLACED. RECENTLY, THE POWER STEERING GEAR FAILED. THIS IS MY DAUGHTER'S CAR WHO'S GOING TO COLLEGE AND HAS TO DRIVE DOWN THE MOUNTAIN IN ORDER TO GET TO AND FROM COLLEGE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF SHE WAS GOING AROUND A TURN DOWN THE MOUNTAIN THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE WENT OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. WHY DOES FORD MAKE THESE VEHICLES WITH THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. THIS IS A LIFE-OR-DEATH ISSUE.

THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF, AND WHEN I ARRIVED AND STARTED IT, IT WAS FINE AFTER BEING PUT IN REVERSE. I RESEARCHED RECALLS AND FOUND MANY ON THIS VEHICLE. AIR BAGS,LUG NUTS,POWER ASSIST TO NAME A FEW. I CALLED FORD AND THEY RAN THE VIN #, THEY SAID THE NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED. HOW CAN CERTAIN #'S BE COVERED WHEN THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM !? ON DEC 22, DAUGHTER WAS BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPOT AND WAS UN-ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. ( POWDER STEERING FAULT APPEARED ON THE DASH ) PULLED BACK INTO THE PARKING SPOT TURNED OFF CAR AND CALLED ME FOR HELP. WHEN WE STARTED THE CART THE FAULT WENT AWAY AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME WITHOUT ISSUE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO IMPERIAL FORD, THEY HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK AND WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ERROR FAULT. NO REPAIR DONE.

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE AND LOCK BROKE AT THE SAME TIME. TWO WAYS TO GET OUT, ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPENING FROM OUTSIDE OR PULLING THE HANDLE AND LOCK AT THE SAME TIME ON THE INSIDE. THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS COMING TO A STOP LIGHT AND SUDDENLY IT REQUIRED MUCH MORE PRESSURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. NOW MY BRAKES HAVE TO GO ALMOST TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE CAR.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND I WAS GETTING READY TO GO INTO A STORE. IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN. I AM DISABLED BUT AM ABLE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE. I HAVE KNEES THAT WERE FRACTURED AND I MUST WEAR KNEE BRACES ON THEM. I HAD TO CRAWL TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO GET OUT. I REALLY HURT MY ARMS BY CRAWLING ACROSS THE VEHICLE. IT FLOODS A LOT IN HOUSTON WHERE I LIVE. THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. I MUST BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE QUICKLY DURING AN EMERGENCY SITUATION SUCH AS FLOODING. FORD HAS RECALLED THE 2010 AND 2012 FUSIONS FOR THE DOOR HANDLES. WHY HAVEN'T THE 2011 FUSIONS BEEN RECALLED? THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW.

AGAIN, TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON RESTORED POWER STEERING. APPARENTLY I'M NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL 15S18. I MAY BE COVERED UNDER EXTENDED COVERAGE (15N01) BUT THE DEALER SAID THAT I WILL ONLY BE COVERED IF SOME CODE APPEARS, AND DIDN'T HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO CHECK FOR THREE WEEKS. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE THROUGH FACEBOOK, BUT THE EMPLOYEE WAS UNHELPFUL, AND JUST DIRECTED ME TO DEAL WITH THE DEALER, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER CAN'T SEE ME.
