TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD FUSION ON 2/28/13 WITH JUST 24,320 MILES. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH LATER I WAS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING MY VEHICLE DUE TO CONTINUAL STALLING. INITIALLY, THE VEHICLE WILL START (COLD ENGINE) IN THE MORNING WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURS PRIMARILY WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM AND ALMOST DAILY. IF I LEAVE WORK AT LUNCHTIME TO RUN AN ERRAND (4 HOURS LATER) THE VEHICLE WILL STALL NUMEROUS TIMES AND IS FOLLOWED WITH IDLING VERY HIGH RPM?S (2,000). THERE IS ALSO A VERY STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE PRESENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I AGAIN WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR 1 WEEK AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE STALLING PROBLEM AND CLAIMED THAT THIS IS MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE CHANGE OVER FROM WINTER GAS TO SUMMER GAS. ON 6/15/13 I COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO START WITH THE SMELL OF GAS PRESENT ONCE AGAIN. AFTER 2 HOURS OF SITTING IN THE GARAGE I TRIED ONCE AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE STARTED UP. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND NOW I AM MUCH STRESSED, FRUSTRATED AND WANTING A NEW OPERABLE VEHICLE. *TR
AS I PULLED INTO A DIAGONAL PARKING SPACE AT MY CVS DRUG STORE, TURNING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED OR APPROXIMATELY 1 OR 2 MPH, STEPPING ON THE BRAKE TO COMPLETE THE ROUTINE ACT OF PARKING, THERE WAS A SUDDEN SURGE OF ACCELERATION. THIS WAS NOT OF MY OWN VOLITION! THE ESTIMATED DAMAGE TO MY CAR IS $5,000 WHILE DAMAGED TO THE OTHER CAR WAS MINOR. RECENTLY THERE WAS AN ARTICLE IN THE L.A. TIMES ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR EXACTLY THIS TYPE OF SURGE ACCELERATION OR "FLARING" AND SINCE IT'S LIKELY MY CAR WAS ACTUALLY BUILT IN 2010 IT'S PROBABLY THE SAME SITUATION.
HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS BUT HAD ONLY DRIVEN IT ABOUT 1500 MILES. (MAR. 22, 2013 - 26,800 MILES) I WAS DRIVING ALONG A LANE ROAD DOING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. WAS ABLE TO BARELY LIMP THE VEHICLE TO A STOP ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE MECHANICS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE RPMS BEGAN FLOATING BETWEEN 800 AND 1200 BUT WITH NO POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION. TURNED THE KEY OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT REGAINED POWER BUT THEN IT HAPPENED ONE MILE LATER. SAME SYMPTOMS. RESTARTED IT AGAIN AND LASTED ANOTHER 2 MILES WHERE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME I RESTARTED THE CAR IT TOOK ABOUT 20 SECS OF CRANKING BEFORE IT TURNED OVER. I THEN DROVE IT 15 MILES DIRECTLY TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT WITHOUT INCIDENT. FORD RAN A DIAGNOSTIC SWEEP ON THE CAR AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD HAVE TO BR BROUGHT IN WITH THE PROBLEM SHOWING SINCE THE BLACK BOX DOES NOT RECORD THESE TYPES OF ISSUES. I HAD THE IMPRESSION THEY HAVE NOT SEEN THIS TYPE OF ERROR OR COULD NOT RECALL IT. HAVE NOW DRIVEN THE CAR ADDITIONAL 40 MILES WITHOOUT INCIDENTS BUT MAKES ME WONDER ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER IF THEY AREN'T CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY ISSUES. I THOUGHT THE RECESSION AND PAST DECADE TAUGHT THEM A LESSON IN DOING IT RIGHT FOR THE CONSUMER/? *TR
I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CARE AND I ALWAYS OPEN MY CAR DOOR VERY GENTLY. HOWEVER, I JUST REALIZED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR LOCK IS BROKEN. I CANNOT OPEN THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE, INSTEAD, I HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOOR AND USE THE OUTSIDE HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. I DID RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ISSUE. I HAVE A 2011 FORD FUSION SE WITH AROUND 52,000 MILES AND I RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR. I DID ORDER A NEW REPLACEMENT FOR THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RE-CALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON CRUISE CONTROL APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE IS 4 CYL. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. COASTED TO RIGHT OF FREEWAY AND CAME TO A STOP. TURNED IGNITION KEY TO OFF AND THEN RESTARTED CAR. PLACED IN DRIVE AND DROVE AND ACCELERATED FINE THERE AFTER. *TR
I WAS GOING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE ON MY WAY TO WORK. WHEN I REACHED THE END OF SCHOOL ZONE I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT. THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THE ENGINE WAS IN A VERY ROUGH IDLE. I PULLED OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAITED ABOUT 5 MIN AND STARTED IT BACK UP. ON START-UP, THE ENGINE CRANKED A FEW EXTRA TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY TURNED OVER. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN AFTER THAT BUT NOTICED THAT THE RPMS JUMPED AROUND WHEN I WAS IN THIRD GEAR BETWEEN 1500-2000 RPM. SEEING THE RPMS JUMP AROUND LIKE THAT MADE ME THINK THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO LOSE POWER AGAIN, AS IT IS CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THE CAR. *TR
DRIVING THE CAR, IT WILL HAVE SUDDEN LOSS OF ALL POWER. THE THROTTLE CONTROL/TRANSMISSION LIGHT INDICATOR COMES ON. YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART. OWNERS MANUAL STATES TO TAKE TO THE DEALER IF IT STAYS ON OR CONTINUES TO COME ON.THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE LAST SIX MONTHS. FRIDAY 3/8 IT HAPPENED TWICE. TOOK TO THE DEALER. STATE THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR DUE TO NO CODE IN THE COMPUTER. THEY HAD IT 5 DAYS, PUT 100 MILES ON IT TRYING TO GET IT TO DO THIS AGAIN. SAFETY ISSUE IS THIS OCCURRING WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION OF ON THE INTERSTATE. NO SOLUTION OFFERED BY FORD. STATES HAVE TO HAVE A CODE. NO INSTRUCTION ON MAKING SURE THE CODE IS RECORDED BY THE COMPUTER. WHEN ENGINE RESTATED CLEARS COMPUTER. *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING. THERE IS NO CONTROL OF ACCELERATION. THIS DANGEROUS IF THIS DOES IT WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE CODE ON THE ERROR IS PT1111 AND PT1112. FORD HAS NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND ON BACK ORDER. SOME ONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THEIR VEHICLE. *TR
3 TIMES THE VEHICLE HAS JUST SHUT ITSELF OFF WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I PUT IT IN GEAR AND IT THEN STARTS AGAIN. SOME ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING ALSO. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MONTHS THE POWER STEERING WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. FORD HAS SINCE REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN. THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR SHUTTING ITSELF OFF STILL EXISTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND I STARTED TO FEEL THE CAR JERK FORWARD SLIGHTLY ABOUT ONCE EVERY TEN SECONDS. ABOUT A MINUTE OR SO LATER I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND THE AMBER WRENCH LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I COASTED TO A STOP AND PULLED OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP THE RPMS WERE VERY ERRATIC AND BOUNCING BETWEEN 500-1000. I SHUT THE VEHICLE, WAITED A MINUTE, THEN STARTED IT BACK UP. ON START UP THE ENGINE CRANKED A COUPLE MORE TIMES THAN USUAL BUT FINALLY TURNED OVER. THE CAR RAN FINE AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. *TR
CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING, SURGES AT TIMES, HAD BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF. DIED PART WAY THROUGH A LARGE INTERSECTION ON 7-13-13, LUCKILY I JUST AVOIDED A COLLISION. IT WOULD START AND GO A FEW FEET, THEN SURGE AND DIE. CALLED CRATER LAKE FORD IN MEDFORD, OR, THEY STATED VERY BUSY THAT DAY AND HAD NOT HEARD OF THE SYMPTOMS I DESCRIBED. PLACED A CALL TO DAVE'S IMPORT SERVICE THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK AT THE CAR. WITHIN 45 MIN THEY HAD DIAGNOSED FAILED THROTTLE BODY. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A BUSY ROAD DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR AND OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. AS I PUSHED THE GAS PEDDLE IT WOULDN'T GO AND THE WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. I ALMOST WAS HIT FROM THE CAR BEHIND ME. I THEN PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND WENT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND RAN OK. I RAN THE VEHICLE REPORT FROM THE MICROSOFT SYNC ON THE CAR AND NO WARNINGS CAME UP. WHILE COMING HOME IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN DURING EVENING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC NEARLY GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND AGAIN. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN. IT RAN FOR ANOTHER 9 MILES AND DID THE EXACT SAME THING AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP IT DID THIS TWO MORE TIMES. I JUST GOT A PHONE CALL FROM THEM SAYING IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER GOING ONLINE AND READING OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND ABOUT BEING INVOLVED IN ACCIDENTS THEMSELVES NOT REALLY SURE WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD SOMEONE WAS LOOKING OUT FOR ME YESTERDAY BECAUSE THE ROADS WERE SLICK AND IT WAS SNOWING REALLY HARD. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $388.00 TO HAVE SOMETHING FIXED THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN RECALLED IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
I HAD JUST GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN TRAFFIC STARTED TO MOVE I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE RPMS IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO AROUND 500 AND WERE VERY ERRATIC. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND THE AMBER WRENCH LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND HAD TO IDLE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD BUT COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND IT RAN FINE; THE AMBER WRENCH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE THE OBD2 CODES READ BUT IT DIDN'T SHOW ANY CODES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ONE DAY MY CAR SHUT OFF RIGHT AFTER A TURN GOING DOWN A HILL, THE DASH WAS ILLUMINATED AND NO LIGHTS WERE ON OTHER THAN THE DASH. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURNED IT OFF THEN STARTED IT RIGHT BACK UP, IT RAN FINE AFTER THAT. THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE AS WELL THOUGH, WHILE DRIVING IT HESITATED BY SHIFTING AT HIGHER RPM'S THAN IT SHOULD AND TOOK IT TO DEALER ON MONDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2013 AND THEY STILL HAVE IT WITH NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT DID ANY OF THOSE THINGS THAT I MENTIONED. THE ONLY THING THAT THE SERVICE GUY SAYS IS "WELL UNTIL IT IS BILLED OUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR." I AM VERY FRUSTRATED AND JUST BOUGHT THIS CERTIFIED PRE OWNED TWO WEEKS AGO. THERE SHOULD BE A LEMON LAW ON CERTIFIED PRE OWNED CARS, THIS IS NOT COOL. IT HAS CAUSED A HEADACHE FOR ME AND NOW I AM STUCK PAYING FOR A CAR I CANNOT EVEN DRIVE RIGHT NOW. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD FUSION SE ON FEBRUARY 22, 2013. I DROVE AN HOUR AND 15 MINUTES TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS VEHICLE. ON MY DRIVE HOME, I WAS SORT OF SKEPTICAL ABOUT THE CAR BECAUSE ON THE RIDE BACK, UP AND DOWN THE HILLS, I COULD FEEL A SLIGHT UNEASINESS OF THE CAR BUT THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST THE HOW IT WAS. THE NEXT THREE DAYS IT DROVE FINE AROUND TOWN. ON THE FOURTH DAY, ON MY WAY PULLING INTO WORK, I BRAKED AT THE STOP SIGN TO LET TRAFFIC GO AND AS I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR DID NOT GO ANYWHERE. I SAT THERE ABOUT 3 OR 4 MINUTES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO GO. ONCE I GOT HOME, I LEFT OUT TO GO TO A STORE AND PARKED TO GO INSIDE. I CAME OUT AND THE CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE. IT TOOK ME ABOUT 15 MINUTES OF CONSTANTLY CRANKING IT, SHIFTING GEARS AND PRESSING THE GAS BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO MOVE AGAIN. I LOVE THE CAR AND ITS FEATURES BUT I HATE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO KEEP THE CAR AND AVOID THE PROBLEMS WITH IT? *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY BOX WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003 (ENGINE) THAT COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT A MONTH BUT HAD ONLY DRIVEN IT ABOUT 600 MILES. (FEB. 21, 2013 - 21,700 MILES) MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONG A 4 LANE ROAD DOING ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN SHE NOTICED THE CAR SUDDENLY LOSING POWER. SHE WAS IN THE LEFT HAND LANE WITH NO SHOULDER OR ROOM TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT LANE BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC AND WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY A DUMP TRUCK WHO HAD NO IDEA SHE WAS RAPIDLY SLOWING DOWN BECAUSE SHE WASN'T PUTTING ON ANY BRAKE TO INDICATE THIS. SHE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A STOP BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. SHE THOUGHT IT HAD STALLED BUT LATER TOLD ME SHE DIDN'T NOTICE ANY DASH LIGHTS ON. SHE TURNED THE KEY OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT RAN FINE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND HE ASKED ABOUT ENGINE CODE LIGHTS (OF WHICH NONE WERE SHOWING ). HE SAID WITHOUT A CODE HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. ( MARCH 7, 2013 - 22,400 MILES ) TURNING A CORNER FROM A STOP THE CAR ACCELERATED AND THEN LOST POWER, ENGINE SEEMED TO SPUTTER AND RUN ROUGH, PULLED OVER AND STOPPED. WRENCH LIGHT ON DASH WAS ON, DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT TACHOMETER DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL WHEN ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED. TURNED ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED, WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF AND RAN OK. HAVE ALSO NOTED THAT TRANSMISSION SHIFTING IS NOT ALWAYS SHIFTING AS SMOOTH AS WHEN WE FIRST STARTED DRIVING IT. IT SEEMS TO JUMP OR LURCH IN AT LEAST ONE OF THE GEARS BUT THIS IS JUST AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM RIGHT NOW. I WILL TAKE NOTE OF THIS AND REPORT BACK. THE CAR WAS PARKED, AND WHEN I PUT IT ON REVERSE TO BACK OUT, THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND THAT SAID "POWER STEERING FAULT" AND THE WHEEL WAS SUPER HARD I COULD NOT CONTINUE TO DRIVE, SO I PUT THE CAR ON PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. LEFT THE CAR, AND WHEN MY HUSBAND WENT TO GET THE CAR, IT TURNED ON FINE & DRIVE FINE. TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME THING. WONDERING IF THIS IS A RECALL OR THIS CAN BE REPLACED BY FORD????? THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE THROTTLE CONTROL AND TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING HOWEVER, THE RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,650. ..UPDATED 02/25/13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD QUICKLY LOSE POWER AND SPEED, GO INTO IDLE/LIMP MODE AND THE ENGINE WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN AT A VERY LOW RPM. PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR DID NOTHING TO HELP. THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ACTIVATE, OR SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP SLIGHTLY, BUT VERY LITTLE. THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE WAS TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, AND THEN ALL OF THE FUNCTIONS WERE RESTORED, BUT IT ALSO RESET AND DELETED THE CODE, SO THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR THREE DAYS OF TESTING. ON THE FOURTH TRY, THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, IN WHICH A CODE OF D42 APPEARED. UPDATED 02/27/13
ON THE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 7TH 2013, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION WAS RIDGED AND JUMPY. PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF RANDOMLY APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES WHILE IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. THIS PROMPTED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR MAINTENANCE AT A FORD DEALER AUTO CENTER. THEY DETERMINED THE POWER TAKEOFF UNIT AND DRIVE SHAFT WERE FAULTY, REPLACED BOTH PARTS AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO ME ON FEBRUARY 15TH 2013. ON MARCH 18TH 2013, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A BUSY ROAD, FORCING ME TO NAVIGATE CAUTIOUSLY TO A SHOULDER. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED THIS TIME. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED 5 MINUTES, AND RESTARTED. THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. I QUICKLY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE PREVIOUS FORD AUTO CENTER, IN WHICH THEY DISCOVERED THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME ON MARCH 21ST 2013. ON MARCH 22ND 2013, THE ENGINE COVER FELL OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED VEHICLE TO THE PREVIOUS FORD AUTO CENTER, THEY REPLACED WITH NEW ENGINE COVER. AS OF TODAY, THE VEHICLE IS AGAIN SHOWING HESITATION AT ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION, RPM DASH METER NEEDLE BOUNCES PLUS MINUS 500RPMS DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. BREAKING IS NOT SMOOTH OR INSTANT, THE VEHICLE TENDS TO JUMP DURING BREAKING. AT COASTING SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ALSO JUMPS. THESE ARE SIMILAR PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY SHUTTING OFF. THIS PROBLEM IS ALARMING AND AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS AROUND YOU, NOTABLY AT HIGH HIGHWAY SPEEDS. FORD HAS BEEN PRESENTED WITH THE ISSUE AND HAS CLAIMED THAT THE ISSUES ARE ALL UNRELATED, EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF EACH TIME. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,369.
CAR BEGAN ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ACTING LIKE IT WAS EITHER NOT GETTING POWER OR FUEL. TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER IN 04/2103 AND THEY DISREGARDED THE SYMPTONS I WAS DESCRIBING AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG (STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEN). BY AUGUST 2013 IT WAS HAVING INCIDENTS OF SHUDDERING, LOSING POWER AND WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF. BY 09/03/2013, IT WAS UNDRIVEABLE. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH FORD IN MID AUGUST. CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND QUOTED REPAIR WAS $871. FORD AGREED TO REPAIR AT 50% AND WORK WAS COMPLETED ON 09/06/2103.
CAR BUCKED THEN COMPLETELY DIED (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET)! LIGHTS THAT CAME ON: STOP SAFELY NOW, WRENCH, ENGINE, TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT. TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START BACK UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A CODE BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION! ( SAME CODES) BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AGAIN, THIS TIME APPARENTLY THEY FOUND THE CODE. THE DEALER SAID GAS WAS GOING IN THE WRONG PLACE AND REPLACED A VALVE. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, ALL HAPPENING AT LESS THAN 5 MPH WHEN STARTING AFTER A STOP. CURRENTLY WITH ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP (GIVEN THE PREVIOUS ONE CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD BUT CLAIMED IT WAS ALREADY THERE, NOT TO MENTION THE POOR SERVICE TO THE CAR). THEY CLEANED IT AND SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. ON 5/31/2013 I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 70 MPH. MY CAR LOST POWER AGAIN AND STARTING JERKING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE, TURNED IT BACK ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. *TR

WHILE IN TRANSIT ON A BUSY MAJOR STATE ROAD, FULLY ACCELERATED TO THE 60 MPH SPEED LIMIT, MY CAR MADE A RATHER ABRUPT "HICCUP" AND IMMEDIATELY DECELERATED TO 45 MPH. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE CAR CONTINUED TO LOSE POWER, AT WHICH TIME I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE MEDIAN. THE WRENCH ICON ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. I CONTACTED ROADSIDE SERVICE AS THE CAR HAS THE REMAINDER OF THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY IN PLACE. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY WITH A FAULT CODE DTC P2111, AND INFORMED ME THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE FORD FUSION LINE AND COULD POTENTIALLY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED, AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT OF THE FAULTY PART WITH A PART THAT HAS NO DEFECT. *TR

THEY SAID THEY HAVE ONE OTHER 2011 FORD FUSION WITH SAME ISSUE (NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS ON INTERNET BUT AS OF YET NO RECALL) OTHER CAR WAS COVERED UNDER EMISSION WARRANTY TO REPLACE THROTTLE CABLE BECAUSE THAT CAR WAS FROM CALIFORNIA. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON AN INCLINE, THE CAR LOST ALL PROPULSION POWER. AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON AND I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE. SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE, WAITING 1 MINUTE AND RESTARTING CLEARED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND RESTORED POWER. THE SAME THING HAPPENED 6 WEEKS LATER, WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. AFTER RESTARTING, THE SYSTEM FAILED AGAIN 2 MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING ON LEVEL ROAD AT 15 MPH. THE CAR RESTED FOR 2 HOURS AND WAS THEN DRIVEN WITHOUT INCIDENT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED EEC TEST, PPT AND COMPONENT TESTS, THEN REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. NO SUBSEQUENT INCIDENTS AFTER 1 WEEK. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CRUISE CONTROL ON, WHEN SUDDENLY THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN, NO POWER. I HAD TO MOVE FROM THE FAST LANE OVER TO THE SLOW LANE TO GET OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE. THERE WERE MANY CARS AROUND AND SO IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE CAR DID NOT STORE ANY CODES, SO THE EDUCATED GUESS IS THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THEY SAY IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY, BUT IS UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. LUCKILY WAS NOT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ABLE AGAIN TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN IT OFF AND RESTART. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN, NO CODE TRIPPED, NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALER AND DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH, AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY WHICH WAS JUNE 12, 2013 AND THEY GAVE ME A LOANER CAR TO DRIVE UNTIL THEY DETERMINED THE PROBLEM. . ON JUNE 18, THE DEALER CALLED ME AND SAID I HAD TO BRING THE LOANER BACK BECAUSE THE PART THEY NEEDED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE (THE PART BEING A THROTTLE BODY) WAS ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO COME IN. IT IS NOW JUNE 26, 2013. THE PART IS STILL NOT IN, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP, THIS PART IS IN HIGH DEMAND!! WHAT SHOULD THAT TELL ANYONE???? MY CAR TO DATE ON AVERAGE LOSES ACCELERATION AT LEAST 5 OR 6 TIMES A TRIP NO MATTER HOW FAR I DRIVE, IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE COMPLETELY LOSES POWER AND WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON DASHBOARD. PULL OFF OF ROAD AND STOP CAR AND REALLY ROUGH IDLE. TURN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART AND WRENCH LIGHT GOES OUT. ENGINE RUNS FINE AFTER. THIS CONTINUES TO OCCUR ON INTERMITTENT BASIS. SOMETIMES HAPPENS 3-4 TIMES WITHIN ABOUT 10 MILES. OTHER TIMES IT HAS GONE HUNDREDS OF MILES BETWEEN INCIDENTS. *TR
I HAVE NOW TWICE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE NEWS ARTICLES FROM THIS DATE REGARDING ENGINE STALL. THE FIRST OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY STALLED. THE SECOND OCCASION WAS WHILE I WAS TRYING TO ENTER A FREEWAY AT BETWEEN 50-55 MPH. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF FOR A MINUTE, THE VEHICLE STARTED WORKING AGAIN PROPERLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FUSION ON THE ROAD AT 55 MPH, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY QUIT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE SLOWDOWN WAS FAST, AND I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND VERY EASILY, BUT I LUCKED OUT BECAUSE THE PERSON BEHIND ME TOOK NOTICE OF MY DRASTIC DROP IN SPEED. I COASTED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED A FEW MOMENTS AND THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. FORTUNATELY I GOT HOME OK, SO I THOUGHT IS WAS MAYBE A FLUKE OCCURRENCE. WHEN I LEFT FOR WORK THE NEXT MORNING, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING; SAME ROAD, SAME SPEED, SAME WRENCH LIGHT, ETC. WHEN I GOT THE CAR RESTARTED, I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH A RELAY SWITCH(?), BUT ONCE AGAIN, THE ENGINE QUIT WHILE I WAS DRIVING BACK TO WORK THAT SAME MORNING. THIS TIME MORE THAN THE WRENCH LIGHT LIT UP. I WENT THROUGH THE RESTART ROUTINE AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME IT WAS NOT A VERY SMOOTH START - I DID NOT THINK IT WAS GOING TO START, BUT IT DID, AND I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN WHERE THEY ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS IS A CONSIDERABLE SAFETY HAZARD TO ANYONE TRAVELING WITH ME AND/OR DRIVING MY CAR, AND AN UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR THOSE DRIVING NEAR ME. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP MOST OF THE DAY NOW, AND NO WORD ON THE PROBLEM OR RECTIFICATION THEREOF. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED AND VERY WORRIED THIS ISSUE WILL "MUSHROOM". *TR
AUTO WAS STOLEN FROM EMPLOYERS' PARKING LOT. REPORTED WITHIN THE PROXIMITY LOCATION ASSOCIATED WITH A DEATH INVESTIGATION. LOCATED AUTO ONLINE-RETURNED BY EMPLOYEE OF THE FACILITY. HOWEVER IT WAS DEVALUED. MUST EXPLAIN WHY AND/OR CORRECT THE ERROR. INSURANCE ISSUE MUST B ADDRESSED. NO REASON FOR THE LISTING. LASTED LONG AFTER PAYOFF & QUITE FRANKLY SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN TAG IN SUCH A MANNER .
THE CAR JUST WILL JUST STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY OR STREET. I KNOW FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. IT LOSES ALL POWER AND JUST DIES WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE LAST TIME MY KIDS AND I ALMOST DIED IN THE CAR. IT IS AWFUL HOW THIS HAPPENED AND THE PART WAS BACKORDERED AND IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. *TR
