The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the message "power steering assist fault" displayed and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were both notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
It started in January 2022 riding down the road, and the front left tire blew out. While replacing the tire is when the first, of more than a dozen lug nuts / studs/bolts broke off. This would make the car make a weird noise causing the tires to make a weird noise and it be the wheel wobbling. When you’d get up to 45mph or so it would cause the whole to shake and make a noise as well. I went to B&B Tire to have front pads, all rotors and a master cylinder replaced. They said 40% was left on pads and rotors. Also that the used master cylinder wasn’t any good? So, none of the maintenance seemed to resolve the brakes. They were kinda of stumped ?The lug nuts/ studs/ bolts all the way around have either had to be replaced, or sporadically came loose, broke off on there own. It as if the wheels/ lug nuts/ studs/ bolts and brakes are a combination of issues working against each other. We are riding with every tire missing at least one of the three. Some tires are missing more. No, we realized something wasn’t right with the wheels/ lug nuts/ studs/ bolts/ brakes with the first front left tire blew out. Now the back right wheel is giving us trouble. The front left only has 3 lug nuts/ studs/ bolts holding it on. I have photos of the ones that had to be replaced, and what’s on the wheels at this point. The tire pressure light stays on. Whether you just put right amount of air in each on or not. The front left tire was the beginning of everything. I’ve found a tire weight that fell off in my driveway. I called in and filed a complaint via telephone. The photos in this complaint all apply to the ODI# below. VIN #:[XXX] ODI #: 11460546 ( 506503) I found a Recall for 2011 Ford Fusion NHTSA: Campaign #:11V574000 (NHTSA Recall 11V-574 ) & Ford Recall#: 11S23 Campaign Recall #: 11S23 I have more photos I have to email you at vsh@dot.gov INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his wife was driving approximately 60 mph when the steering wheel became difficult to turn when they crashed into a curb and as a result almost went over the embankment. The contact stated power steering fault warning message was displayed. No one was injured, and the vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing EPA Steering efforts replaced but was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of failure and told the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
During winter driving conditions, the antilock brake system engaged. Following the engagement of the antilock brake system, the brake pedal would press all the way to the floor and very little braking was available from the brake system. Distances to stop the car were extremely long and the car was inherently unsafe to drive on the road. There were no warning indications on the car. It was determined by a Ford dealer that the hydraulic control unit failed and needed to be replaced. Upon repair, the braking system returned to normal function. I have the failed HCU in my possession.
FORD has failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. I have tried to schedule my FFH airbag recall repair for months. The dealership never answers their phone, nor do they respond to written inquiries. I also have called FORD and spent hours on the phone with no resolution. My mechanic can perform the recall repair. I need specific contact info for billing, so I can get my recall paid for (that my mechanic will perform). I am worried about the unrepaired recall, and the safety of those in my vehicle. Please do not respond by providing contact info for the dealership or FORD. I have already attempted to contact & schedule several times. They will not answer. *** I need specific contact info for billing so I can get my recall repaired by my mechanic***
After starting the vehicle, I was pulling out of my parking space when the steering wheel locked up. It required more effort on the steering wheel to turn the wheels so I could maneuver the vehicle through the parking lot. About that same time, I noticed a message come up in the information center in the instrument cluster that read, "Check Steering System". After moving through the parking lot for a minute, the steering assist returned and the steering wheel was no longer locked up. If a car had pulled out in front of me unexpectedly (which is a common occurrence where I live) while my steering assist was out, I would not have been able to avoid the impact. I found out through research through All Data there is a RECALL on the steering gear for my vehicle. I DID NOT RECIEVE A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THIS DEFECT, which according to the recall I found, should have been mailed to me. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealership and they told me my vehicle was 1 year too old and 20,000 miles over the age and mileage limit to have the recall performed. They also wanted to charge me over $2500.00 to replace the steering gear. Since then, the steering wheel is locking up more frequently which is making me feel less and less safe while driving.
Started the car and went to back out of the drive way and all these lights came on the dashboard and started to beep. It stated to "Check Brake System" and "Service Advancetrac". Also had to press down on the break pedal super hard to make sure the car stopped. Took the car to the Ford dealership and they stated that the ABS Module needed to be replaced. There was no prior warning there was a issue. Glad this didn't happen while in traffic or on the highway. I see there have been similar issues with the 2011 Ford Fusion and not sure why there has not been a recall on this yet. Car has 103K miles.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the power steering assist fault warning message appeared on the instrument panel. Despite the warning message, the contact was able to resume normal driving operation and drove home. The next day, the contact stated that excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle as the warning message remained illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was initially informed that his vehicle would be serviced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); however, a week later, he was notified that his vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided further information about the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,300.
Steering assist failure light came on no ability to turn wheel. Dealer said steering rack needs replacement. Codes u 300049&u300096 & u300097. My make and model is showing no recall on vin however all years surrounding it with the same electric steering rack part are under recall for it.
My husband was driving this vehicle two days ago and the power steering froze. Fortunately, he was able to steer it to safety because he is quite strong, however I would never have been able to manage this, and as such the incident presented a safety issue that could have been quite hazardous to us and to other drivers. I looked online and Ford does not have an active recall for the power steering unit, but instead posted a notice indicating "EPAS Steering Effort Campaign #15N01." I contacted the dealer, who told me that since the car is now out of warranty (as of May 2015, when we had no problems to have fixed) that they would not fix it for free but for approximately $2,500.00. I asked a Ford Chat representative for an email address and was told, "Thank you for your patience Jane. You are looking for an email to corporate? Ford would like to be able to better assist our customers quickly via Chat or Phone. For this reason, the Customer Relationship Center or corporate does not have a direct email address. I’ll be more than happy to help you today!" I will be copying this complaint to them in my next Chat to Ford. Additionally, the Ford Media Center posted the following: DEARBORN, Mich., May 27, 2015 – Ford is issuing two safety recalls in North America. Four minor accidents and no injuries are attributed to one of these conditions. Details are as follows: "Ford issues safety recall for certain 2011-2013 Ford Taurus and Flex vehicles, Lincoln MKS and MKT vehicles, for certain 2011-2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles, and for certain 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles in North America for potential issue with electric power steering" https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/05/27/ford-issues-two-safety-recalls-in-north-america-.html.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the messages "service advanced track" and "service power steering" were displayed however, the vehicle operated as normal. The following morning while starting the vehicle, the power steering was faulty, and the steering wheel was difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering gear assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 136,000. Vin was not included in the recall and warranty was out 3 months.
On 12/13/21, my son swerved out of an accident and hit a high curb which damaged the driver's side tire. Luckily the Air Bag did not discharge. Recall 21S12 Driver Air Bag Inflator Replacement was issued in March of 2021, yet I did not receive a letter, and my car still has not been repaired. Are you waiting for a fatality to occur before providing the dealers with the necessary supplies?
While leaving a parking lot, the power steering system on my wife's 2011 Ford Fusion with approximately 64,000 miles failed without warning. That failure resulted in the steering wheel freezing in position rendering the car uncontrollable. A warning statement appeared on the instrument panel indicating a failure in the power steering module had occurred. Towing was required. After speaking with the Ford Recall Center and performing additional research online we found that there had been a recall #15S18 for 2011 Ford Fusion with only a limited number of VIN numbers included. Our Fusion was not included. As the result we had no idea there was the possibility of a spontaneous failure of the steer system. Although our VIN was not included in the recall it is crystal clear that the safety hazard still exists, and our vehicle should have been included in the recall. Though our research we found that this failure is not a limited problem. This hazard is ongoing and is widespread. It also has caused unnecessary accidents and significant injuries. We were fortunate that the steering module failed on a parking lot as opposed to the highspeed highway that was going to be used to return to our home. We believe this issue deserves additional review and possibly further action by your Administration.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard as a brake system failure warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed her of other model vehicles that had experienced the same failure; however, there were no recalls on her VIN associated with the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.
My husband is the primary driver for our 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid. We are second-hand owners of the vehicle and have had it since 2020. Earlier this month (Dec 2021) the power steering failed and it became difficult to control the car. My husband transports our youngest daughter to daycare daily and we live in Nebraska which means we deal with icy road conditions seasonally. This failure puts my husband and our daughter at risk on the roads. Per the vehicle history, there was a safety recall regarding power steering that was repaired at a dealership July 2011. This repair included reprogramming the power steering control module. Because the power steering assembly was not fully replaced at that time, this enacted an extended warranty that was good for 10 years OR 150,000 miles starting from the original warranty date - whichever came first. When we came into ownership of this vehicle, it was over 150,000 miles already. We did have a mulit-point inspection done prior to purchase in June 2020 and the steering assembly was not noted as being an issue or an upcoming issue. Now, with this recent failure, our local Ford dealership told us the internal gears were chipped, cracked and broken (rack & pinion), so the entire steering assembly had to be replaced. Since we are beyond the extended warranty on the original power steering recall AND since the power steering control module was reprogrammed initially, Ford says that they are not able to cover any costs for this failure. We feel that Ford should have gone further in their initial recall, asking that the steering assembly be replaced rather than just reprogrammed.
I was sitting in line at a Valvoline Instant Oil Change on Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky. Due to the time waiting, I would turn my car off and restart when the line moved. After my last restart, the power steering no longer worked. I turned it off and restarted. Still no power steering. I went ahead and got the oil changed. Restarted to leave the bay area without power steering. I parked in the lot of the business and called for a wrecker service to tow my car home and had another family member pick me up. I noticed on the internet that this is not an unique problem. My car had 77,951 miles on it when the power steering went out. It happened 12/3/2021. I had the air bag recall worked done on 8/8/2022 and a diagnostic done on the power steering. They reported an internal component failure, along with loose outer tie rods. They said it was the steering gears (in other words, the rack and pinion). Fortunately, I was where I was at when it happened, as I am 82 years old. I could have very had an accident, because of the power steering failure.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the power steering failed to operate as the service power steering now warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact called a dealer who informed him that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that seventeen lug nuts had fractured and detached from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 241,506. The contact stated that Ford Motor Company had their vehicle listed as MY2013 although it is a MY2011. This may be the reason why their VIN was not a part of the recall that involved the same issues with their vehicle.
Brakes intermitent and low pedal with loss of power brake. Master cylinder and brake booster already reolaced by technical shop. Brakes continue to non efficient . Abs control module not closing fully their valves, afecting brake functionality. Even on fresh start on parking brake pedal goes way down.
Brakes serviced within last 3 years. They should not have failed. A few months ago noticed that the Brakes after initial tap will go to floor. Then they completely failed with no warning when my teen driver was on a highway. Per mechanic there is a problem with the ABS module. Mechanic states we have the same ABS module as the 2010 Fusion that was recalled. However, per Local Ford dealer as our VIN # is 2011 it doesn't matter that part has proven to be faulty
STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AS I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER THE CAR I HAD TO PULL OVER AND STOP. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE STEERING WAS WORKING. I WAS VERY HESITANT TO DRIVE THE CAR, MY HUSBAND DROVE THE THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER AND WE WERE INFORMED DURING THE INSPECTION THE STEERING GEAR WAS FAILING INTERNALY AND THEY RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT. APPARENTLY, I AM 5 MONTHS OUT OF THE 15N01 SAFETY RECALL. I AM WONDERING WHY SUCH A DANGEROUS SAFETY RECALL WOULD HAVE A TIME LIMIT? MY FORD FUSION CAME FROM THE HERMOSILLO ASSEMBLY PLANT DURING THE 9-7-2010 THRU 2-28-2012. I MISSED RECALL DUE TO THE 10 YEARS OF WARRANTY START DATE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS LIKE A RECALL THAT SHOULD NOT EXPIRE. I SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS OF FORD FUSION WITH SAME COMPLAINT. IF FORD WAS ABLE TO NARROW DOWN THE CARS AND THE PLANTS THEY CAME FROM, I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THEM REGARDLESS OF MILAGE OR EXPIRATION OF RECALL. THEY STILL POSE A RISK OF HARM OR FATALITY DUE TO ACCIDENTS.
1. The Power Steering Control Module has failed and it can be available under inspection if needed. 2. Power steering failed when going 60 mph down the highway. 3. Yes, has been confirmed by a dealer to be the issue. 4. Has a other recalls out under 15s18 but the power steering has failed 2 months outside the 10 years 150k miles warranty Ford offered. Vehicles only has 111k miles on it. 5. No warning when it just failed. It turned off Advance Tractions Control on the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the power steering fault message was displayed. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his wife was starting the vehicle, the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was 3 months past the deadline for the steering recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an unknown failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 80 mph, the advance track and "Service power steering soon" warning lights and messages were illuminated. The steering wheel inadvertently jerked out of the contact's hands 5 - 6 times. The contact pulled over and disconnected the fuse from the power steering assist module. The contact was able to drive to his residence without a power steering assist. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle with a code reader that there was no communication to the power steering assist, and that the StabiliTrak wheel speed sensor on the front passenger’s side was faulty. The contact replaced the front passenger’s side wheel speed sensor. However, after the replacement, all the wheel speed sensors appeared faulty on the code reader. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for the repair but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 103,945.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. When this appears the car is very difficult to drive. My safety and the safety of others is at risk when this happens. Thank Goodness I was not going when this occurred otherwise I could have hit someone. The problem has not been inspected by the manufacturer as they can't even fix my air bag recall, No other warnings. this has occurred now about 4 times. shutting the car off and restarting it seems to reset the issue.
Was driving and power steering and advance trac said it need to be serviced and went out automatically became harder to steer
I was pulling my 2011 Ford Fusion out of the driveway to park on the street in order to drive my second vehicle. When I got to the street, the power steering fault message displayed on the instrument panel and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn in either direction. This is the third time this message has been indicated. After each time, the problem was corrected by turning the car off and then restarting the car. The third time was different as when I got the car to the street and attempted to park it at the curb with the power steering disabled, the car engine actually shut off without warning. Restarting the engine and waiting to move the car a few moments cleared the fault message and the steering was returned to normal. The fourth time I went to drive the Ford Fusion, the power steering fault message returned along with the lack of assisted steering and would not clear after stopping and restarting the car several times. The vehicle has not been taken to a shop for diagnosis as of this writing.
My 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid is dangerous to me and others on the road. When I drove my car, was coming to a stopping point and it didn't want to stop. It does it off and on. I took it to the dealership and was told I needed a abs module. They didn't have any because they was on back order. This was during the pandemic and as of 2026 they are still on back order. I also purchased two abs modules used for my vehicle and took it to the dealership to be programmed and was told it wouldn't program. Please I'm needing assistance with this situation
Excessive brake pedal travel has almost lead to an accident twice. Brakes slightly engages at the top and then will have to press further to stop vehicle. This has almost caused an accident twice.
On october18,2021 our vehicle lost power steering. We had the vehicle towed to BobSight ford in lee's summit, mo. We heard there had been issues about power steering assist. Looked up recalls on NHTSA WEBSITE and found campaign # 15v340000. We contacted the dealership about the recall but they told us it wasn't a recall situation. We were charged $1845.97 for repairs. The vehicle was ready on October 26,2021. When there is over 393,625 vehicles potentially affected why would this not be an issue that is considered a recall. I feel that I was charged for repairs unjustly and that this dealer was negligent in their actions. Fortunately there was no crashes or injuries with this vehicle. I consider this a very dangerous situation that needs to be addressed and taken care of on all vehicles that this applies to. I feel I should be reimbursed for the charges. Thank you.
The rack and pinion went out on the vehicle while driving down the highway... Luckily we made it home safely.. made it very hard to turn... Just like that it went out with no warning.
The steering gear of my vehicle has broken again after it was replaced under a recall causing my power steering to go out and am not able to drive my car safely.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the Power Steering Assist Failure appeared on the instrument panel and the steering wheel was significantly difficult to maneuver. The contact was able to forcefully maneuver the steering wheel with assistance and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure as a steering module fault. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that an unknown recall repair had already been completed on the vehicle in 2016. The manufacturer also advised the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the repair. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 103,000.
Went to go start my vehicle one morning to take my kids to school and a message popped up on my dash stating "Power Steering Asst. Fault". So, I turn my vehicle off and on a couple of times (no more than 3 times) and got the same message. The steering wheel was hard to turn and it has come to my conclusion that my electric power steering went out which is making it hard to turn my steering wheel, and yes, my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety of my kids and myself was put at risk because its hard trying to drive a vehicle without power steering. I'm scheduled to have my vehicle inspected Tuesday December 7, 2021 at my local Ford dealer. This occurred about 2 months ago, but every time I turned my vehicle off then back on the steering worked.
Car was purchased used at approximately 100,000 miles. While filling tank at pump, automatic shutoff on pump triggered repeatedly. It seemed vapor was backing up into the fill tube, so filling tank consisted of pressing pump then releasing once per gallon to allow vapors to disperse and repeat. Several mechanics reported working on similar cases and suggested inspecting the CPV canister. At approximately 110,000 miles, car developed a gas tank rupture. Mechanic inspected and determined that tank had burst at seam. In researching the CPV canister, discovered recall 15S34. Vin search states that this recall does not apply to this vehicle, but symptoms are identical to technical description.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard without warning while coming to a stop. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be serviced or diagnosed. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 128,500.
Since the first time that bought the car appeared twice in three months at the moment of starting the car: ASSISTANCE STEERING POWER FAILURE. Then turning off the car and start again would go off and run normal. However today appeared and nothing worked. After one hour trying to make it work we never could. So, we had to call the towing service and go home. I’ve checked the recall but nothing appears under my vin number that has to do with this problem
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the message "Power Steering Assist Fault" illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering assist system needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (STEERING) because the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair since the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 213,000.
MY ABS SYSTEM IS OUT WHICH CAUSED MY BRAKES TO STOP WORKING. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS A SAFER HAZARD
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 3 MPH, the power steering intermittently failed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The power steering message was displayed, and the power steering became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign number 15V340000 (Steering). The failure mileage was 127,000.
I let my 16 year old daughter use my 2011 Ford Fusion SEL. Last Thursday she and my 15 year old daughter were leaving school and suddenly she could not steer. They were both very frightened. There was an error message Power Steering Assist Fault. I came to the school, let them drive my SUV home, and although I have driven many vehicles over the years without power steering it was very difficult to drive. I understand there was a recall in 2015 for this issue but not for Fusions with 3.5 L engines. Why? There have been many complaints and it's only a matter of time before someone gets killed. Please recall this. I can not afford to have this fixed and I don't want to sell a deadly car.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the power steering malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. During the failure the message “Power steering Assist Fault" was displayed. After turning off and restarting the vehicle the failure corrected itself. The contact indicated that the failure had occurred while driving, while idling, and also after starting the vehicle. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic who determined that the steering gears were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, she noticed that the steering wheel was locked. The "Service Steering Now" message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact stated she was able to forcefully steer the vehicle to the dealer with some assistance. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering) however, the mechanic could not complete the recall repair as the recall had expired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
My power steering quit working. The screen said “Power Steering Assist Fault”. It was inspected by a Ford Dealership and not covered under warranty due to mileage. My safety & the safety others was put at risk when on the road driving at slower speed to control and steer the car. The problem has been confirmed by the local Ford Dealership. It has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealership. There were no warnings prior to failure. As soon as I turned the car on, the message “power steering assist fault” came on and I had no Power steering.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to stop. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and was diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact to call the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Steering rack has almost completely locked up I took my car to dealership and they told me it had been recalled but because my car was over ten years old they informed me they were not responsible to fix it any longer
