TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE ON A CORNER NEARBY. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE DEALER (MTN. VIEW FORD 301 E 20TH ST, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37408; (423) 756-1331) WHO INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OPEN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AIRBAG RECALL. NOW AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME, THIS WAS NOT ON WHEN RECALL REPAIR WAS DONE. NOW DEALERSHIP WANTS TO PERFORM A DIAGNSTIC ON CAR AT MY COST.
THE REAR BRAKE CALIBERS HAVE SEIZED UP TWICE NOW. 1ST TIME WAS JUNE 2017, SERVICED BY FIRESTONE, AND JUST RECENTLY SEPT 12TH 2020. BOTH TIMES REQUIRED A FULL BRAKE REPAIR. FIRST HAPPENED AT 72,000 MILES AND NOW AT 142,000 MILES. BOTH CAUSE A LOSS OF BRAKING IN THE VEHICLE. IN JUNE OF 2017 THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING BETWEEN 30 TO 45 MPH WHEN IT SEIZED UP. WE DROVE IT TO NEAREST SHOP IN ILLINOIS SO WE CAN START OUR DRIVE BACK TO GEORGIA. SECOND TIME WAS NOT AS BAD AS I RECOGNIZED THE SYMPTOMS AND GOT IT IN FOR REPAIRS BEFORE FULL SEIZURE OF THE BRAKES. ONLINE REVIEW SHOWS MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR MODEL.
POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL EVERY SO OFTEN WHEN I FIRST CRANKED THE VEHICLE. NEVER HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. I COULD TURN THE CAR OFF, WAIT A MIN, CRANK IT AGAIN AND IT WOULD BE FINE. ON 9/9/2020 I CRANKED THE CAR WHILE PARKED AND POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON, LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURED AND WILL NOT GO AWAY THIS TIME. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING. THE CAR IS IN MY DRIVEWAY. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD FUSIONS. I FEEL FORD SHOULD FIX THIS DEFECT/FLAW FREE OF CHARGE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACTS DAUGHTER OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOE MYERS FORD LOCATED AT 16634 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77040, (713) 766-3600, AND WAS DIAGNOSED THEY RETRIEVED CODE:U3000:49 IN PSCM WITH NEEDING STEERING GEAR TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING) HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.*LN*JB
I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN SERVICE POWER STEERING APPEARED.THE STEERING BECAME HARD TO HANDLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. NOW IT FEELS LIKE THE STEERING IS LOCKED UP.
2012 FUSION SEL, 3.0L V6, 112,000 MILES: ON 9-3-2020 I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER. AS I WAS PROCEEDING IT APPEARED THAT THE ENGINE HAD STALLED. IN ACTUALITY THE ENGINE DID NOT STALL AND THERE WAS A FAULT MESSAGE DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". I PROCEEDED HOME WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY STEERING THE CAR. ON THE WAY HOME I STOPPED AT THE LOCAL AUTOZONE CAR CARE CENTER TO REVIEW THE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR A POSSIBLE EXPLANATION AND REMEDY. THE MANUAL STATED THAT THERE WAS NO SERVICE FOR THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ON THIS MODEL FUSION (FULLY ELECTRIC). I PROCEEDED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND AS SOON AS I WENT FORWARD A SECOND ALARM DISPLAYED "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". NOW THE DISPLAY TOGGLED BETWEEN THESE TWO ALARMS. THE DAY PRIOR TO MY SERVICE APPOINTMENT I NOTICED THAT WHEN I STARTED THE CAR ONLY THE "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" ALARM DISPLAYED, BUT THE VEHICLE STILL HAD NO POWER STEERING. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. LATER THAT DAY I WAS CONTACTED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST WAS GOING TO BE IN EXCESS OF $2000. BY NOW I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH INTO THIS AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM (NHTSA ID# 15V340000, FORD ID# 15S18). I RELAYED THIS INFORMATION TO THE FORD SERVICE ADVISOR AND HE INFORMED ME THAT "YES THERE WAS A RECALL BUT MY VIN# WAS NOT INCLUDED". I AM AT A LOSS AS TO HOW THIS VEHICLE COULD NOT BE INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE IS VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS ONLY 112,000 MILES OF MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING. I CAN SAY WITH A GREAT DEAL OF CERTAINTY THAT HAD THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY AT AN EXIT OR ENTRANCE RAMP, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT OUTCOME TO THIS. AT THIS TIME, EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR, I AM GOING TO BE UNSURE AND WORRIED ABOUT THE VEHICLE LOOSING STEERING CONTROL.
I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR YEARS AND THE POWER ASSIST FAULT LIGHT HAS CAME ON NUMEROUS TIMES MOSTLY WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR BUT IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AS WELL MAKING IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU LOSE STEERING. USUALLY I CAN POWER OFF AND RESTART AND IT GOES AWAY. THIS MORNING I HAVE RESTARTED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WILL NOT GO AWAY. I HAVE LOOKED UP RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE AND RECALL 15S18 EXPLAINS MY EXACT ISSUE. HOWEVER THE CUT OFF DATE FOR VEHICLES FOR THIS RECALL IS 2/28/12 AND MY VEHICLE WAS MADE 3/12/12. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS BETWEEN THE INFECTED VS MY CAR. FORD SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS AS I BELIEVE ITS TOO CLOSE OF A DATE TO REALLY KNOW IF MY CAR WAS MADE WITH THE SAME PARTS THAT WERE DEFECTIVE 10DAYS BEFORE MINE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN POWER STEERING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED, THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND COMPUTERIZED ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000. *LN*JB
POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN EASILY.
CAR SENSOR CAME ON SHOWING EPAS POWER STEERING NEEDED SERVICED AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING HAD WENT OUT COMPLETELY. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME. IT IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE CAR NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER AND REACT QUICKLY WHEN BEING DRIVEN.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM REVERTS TO MANUAL STEERING MODE.. IN MANUAL STEERING MODE THERE IS STILL A MECHANICAL LINKAGE BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE ROAD WHEELS, ALLOWING STEERING CONTROL TO BE MAINTAINED WITH GREAT DIFFIVULTY. A MESSAGE DISPLAYS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER AND A CHIME WILL SOUND TO INFORM THE DRIVER. LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST REQUIRES GREATER STEERING EFFORT, WHICH MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS. FORD CLAIMS THERE IS NO CODE IN THE COMPUTER, SO THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. IT IS HAPPENING REPEATEDLY, IN SPITE OF THE LACK OF CODE IN THE COMPUTER. CLEARLY EITHER THE COMPUTER IS FAULTY OR THE DEVICE WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO SEND THE CODE TO THE COMPUTER IS FAULTY.
VEHICLE IS SHOWING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. THIS HAPPENS WHILE TURNING AND WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME RECALL ON OTHER 2012 FORD FUSION MODELS.
I HAVE A 2012 FORD FUSION I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AN MY SERVICE POWERING STEERING LIGHT COMES ON THEN WITHIN SECONDS I LOST POWER STEERING THANKFULLY I WASN'T GOING AROUND A CURVE THAT COULD HAVE ENDED BAD
I LEFT WORK AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE, NO TROUBLE STEERING OR ANYTHING. I STOPPED TO GET GAS AND TURNED OFF THE CAR WHEN I WAS DONE AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP LIGHTS TURNED ON THE DASH AND MY STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T MOVE. IT WAS SAYING SERVICE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING NOW. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE AND NOW IT JUST QUIT WORKING OUT OF NOWHERE. SO I WAS PARKED WHEN IT QUIT WORKING.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE COLLISION BUT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE I AM EITHER DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, TURNING OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYS IN NJ.
MY DRIVER'S SIDE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCK AND INSIDE HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN DOOR. MUST PUT WINDOW DOWN AND REACH OUT SIDE TO OPEN DOOR. VERY APPREHENSIVE BECAUSE SOMETIMES I HAVE TO REPEAT THE UNLOCKING PROCESS BEFORE I CAN LET MYSELF OUT OF THE CAR. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, I HAD BEEN DRIVING AND THEN PARKED AT A BUSINESS PLACE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR AND TO OUT, I HEARD A CLICK BUT THE HANDLE WOULD NOT RELEASE.
THE LUG NUTS HAVE SWELLED WHERE THEY CANNOT BE REMOVED WITH A 19MM SOCKET (AS DESIGNED) NOR THE ACTUAL JACK WRENCH THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROWE FORD SALES CO LOCATED AT 1041 S STATE ST, GENESEO, IL 61254, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000.
MY POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC. WENT OUT ALL OF A SUDDEN. CALLED FORD AND FOUND OUT THAT FORD FUSIONS HAD A RECALL BACK IN 2015 ON THE POWER STEERING, BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT MY FORD FUSION'S VIN NUMBER DIDN'T MATCH THE ONES THAT HAD A RECALL. I THINK THIS IS VERY STUPID. I'M DRIVING A FORD FUSION AND THE ODDS OF MY POWER STEERING GOING OUT IS VERY HIGH, NO MATTER IF MY VIN NUMBER IS THE CORRECT ONE OR NOT?!?!?
VEHICLE MAKES RANDOM SQUEAL NOISE WHEN MOVING AND TURNING 5-20 MPH AND SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE THE STEER TIRES ARE NOT TURNING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. THERE ARE NO FAIL LIGHTS ILLUMINATING ON THE DASH. SOMETIMES BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED, SOMETIMES THEY ARE NOT. ACCORDING TO FORD, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL THAT OTHER OWNERS OF FUSIONS ENCOUNTERED EVEN THOUGH THE DESCRIPTION OF THEIR ISSUE MATCHES MINE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.
POWER STEERING OUT WITH MESSAGE LIGHTS. HAVE SEEN PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR MY MAKE AND YEAR. WHY IS THERE NOT ONE LISTED
STEERING GAVE OUT WHILE DRIVING. FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REPAIR IN 2015 WITH PREVIOUSOWNER.. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CORRECTED AND NOW IT'S OUT AGAIN? FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE

MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET IT SEEMS THIS IS AN EXTREMELY POPULAR ISSUE. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED BY THE RECALL. I CANT SEEM TO FIND ANYTHING OTHER THAN RECALL NEWS AND ARTICLES ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE NOT EVEN ANY VIDEOS OR GUIDES ON HOW TO REPAIR AT HOME TO AVOID SPENDING A LUDACRIS AMOUNT OF MONEY ON REPAIRS.
IF MY CAR SITS AT IDLE FOR TOO LONG LIKE STUCK IN TRAFFIC OR WAITING AT A DRIVE THRU THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT. THE RPMS REV UP BUT IT ACTS LIKE IT IS STUCK . IT WON'T MOVE OVER A FEW MPH. THEN IF YOU SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND THE WHOLE CAR JERKS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT WILL NOT SHIFT RIGHT. YOU CAN FLOOR THE GAS AND IT BARELY MOVES THEN IT WILL COME OUT OF IT AND DRIVE FINE UNTIL YOU HAVE TO SIT IDLE AGAIN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO FIX IT AT MULTIPLE MECHANICS SHOPS AND NOTHING WORKS. HAVE CHANGED MULTIPLE SENSORS AND IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AGAIN.07

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
THIS VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A STREET AND THE STEERING WHEEL FELT FUNNY AS DRIVING. IT STARTED GETTING ALOT OF PLAY IN IT AND JERKS. I DID TAKE THE CAR INTO A ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC TO LEARN THAT THERE WAS 2 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. STEERING GEAR REPLACEMENT, STEERING CONTROL MODULE. SAFETY RECALL # 15S18 SUPPLIEMENT #1 AND SAFETY AIR BAG REPAIR OR REPACEMENT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD, AT FIRST THEY COULDNT FIND A RECALL FOR THE STEERING. AFTER SOME SEARCHING, THEY FOUND IT. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST DIAGNOSED BY A ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. FORD WANTS TO CHARGE ME $180.00 FOR DIAGNOSTIC IF THE STEERING PROBLEM ISNT RELATED TO THE RECALL. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DIAGNOSED BY ANOTHER MECHANIC AS THE STEERING GEAR,
MY 2012 FORD FUSION'S POWER STEERING SYSTEM RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING TO A FRIENDS HOUSE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PARK THE CAR AND NO ONE WAS HURT. IN CHECKING FOR RECALLS, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF 2012'S WITH THIS RECALL BUT NOT MY VIN NUMBER. I AM REALLY SURPRISED AND VERY FRUSTRATED THAT MANY CARS ARE RECALLED, BUT NOT MINE. PLEASE ADVISE!!

THE A/C AIR BLOWER SOMETIMES COME ON THEN OFF, IT ALWAYS COMES ON WHEN I HAVE THE FOG LIGHTS ON. I HEARD OTHERS WITH 2012 FORD FUSION HAVE THIS ISSUE AS WELL.

KOERNER FORD OF SYRACUSE (805 W GENESEE ST, SYRACUSE, NY 13204, (315)474-4275) WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $2,000. ONLINE IT LOOKS LIKE FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THE LAST TIME IIT FAILED IT WAS IN MOTION. WHEN IS THE NHTSA GOING TO FORCE THE REPAIR OF THIS ITEM?
CAR WAS IDLING IN LINE AT A DRIVE THRU FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. DRIVER RELEASED FLOOR BRAKE TO MOVE UP IN LINE. AFTER PULLING UP A FEW FEET, AND THEN TRYING TO SLOW THE CAR, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. DRIVER WAS AFRAID THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP. THEN CAR WILL CONTINUE TO RUN BUT JERKS AND LUNGES. PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR DOES ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING SAID CAR. THANK THE DEAR LORD I WAS NOT PULLING OUT ON U.S. 98 IN NAVARRE FL. I WAS STILL IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND WAS ABLE TO CHUG MY WAY BACK HOME. TOMORROW, 06/22/2020 WILL BE HAVING CAR TOWED TO A PROFESSIONAL AND LICENSED MECHANIC. VEHICLE HAS SUFFICIENT FUEL, THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
