WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE "ADVANCETRAC" CAME ON AND "POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED" CAME ON. I WAS NIGHT TIME I MADE IT HOME. ONCE HOME I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THE "REPLACE POWER STEERING NOW" I HAD LOST ALL POWER STEERING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC THE FIRST TIME AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING WRONG I JUST NEEDED NEW TIRES.
EVERY TIME I TURN MY CAR ON THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY STIFF AND WITH LIGHT NOTIFICATION SAYING " POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED"... MY CAR HAS POWER STEERING FLUID IN IT. I HAVE TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND WAIT ABOUT 20 MINS TO TRY TO START IT AGAIN.
SHORTLY AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND THE ALARMS SOUND LEAVING MY VEHICLE UNABLE TO PERFORM SAFELY. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE. THERE ARE NO KNOWN CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. I'VE CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY'VE STATED THAT MY VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND TO REPAIR THE ISSUE COULD COST UP TO $1,600
ON APRIL 2 2016 I DROVE TO OUR LOCAL WALMART IN OCEANSIDE CALIFORNIA. AFTER SHOPPING I STARTED MY 2012 FORD FUSION AND THE POWER ASSISTED STEERING HAD FAILED AND I COULDNT DRIVE THE CAR. HAD IT TOWED TO NORTH COUNTY FORD WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT ON THIS CAR DUE TO ITS PRODUCTION DATE OF MARCH 6TH 2012.THE RECALL WAS FOR 2012 FORD FUSIONS PRODUCED BEFORE FEBUARUY 28TH 2012. BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED 6 DAYS AFTER THE RECALL IT WAS NOT COVERED THUS I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY THE $1658.00 REPAIR BILL. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T HELP ME DUE TO THE PRODUCTION DATE. I BELIEVE THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE WIDENED TO COVER ALL FORD PRODUCTS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE. WHILE THIS PROBLEM DID'NT HAPPEN WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION IT STILL SEEMS TO ME TO BE A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AS IT COULD HAVE BEEN .
DRIVING AT 60 MPH I COULD HEAR FRICTION WORSENS AND CAR WOULD LOSE MOMENTUM EASILY BECAUSE OF THE FRICTION. THEN I START TO HEAR A KNOCKING SOUND SOMEWHERE IN THE ENGINE PERHAPS OR THE WHEEL UNSURE AND AS ALL THAT WORSENS, I CAN FEEL THE CAR LOSING CONTROL LIKE IT'S GOTTEN A FLAT TIRE. POWER STEERING GOT STIFFER WHILE THE CAR KIND OF DRIFTED LEFT AND THEN RIGHT AS THO I WAS GOING TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS REALLY SCARY SO I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN BECAUSE I HAD NO CONTROL ON THE STEERING.
I REPLACED A FLAT TIRE ON MY VEHICLE NO PROBLEMS BEFORE HAND. ONCE I PUT THE SPARE ON AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE MY STEERING WAS HARD TO CONTROL. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED THE TIRE AND ASSUMED THAT THE LIGHTS WILL BE GONE. I HAVE A MESSAGE FOR SERVICE POWER STEERING, ADVANCE TRAC. I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE A RECALL. I LOOKED AND RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE IS ONE BUT MY VIN WASN'T UNDER IT.
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN, DOOR BOUNCE BACK, WILL NOT LOCK.. I HAVE TO LIFT THE HANDLE AND PUSH THE LATCH UP TO SHUT THE CAR DOOR.
I HAD A SERVICE ADVANCTRAC LIGHT ON MY DASH AND THEN A POWER STEERING FAILURE LIGHT ACTIVATE ON THE DASH AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROX. 40MPH. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME SAFELY. ARRIVED HOME AND WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2012 FUSIONS. I TOOK TO FORD AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY $1600 TO REPLACE WHAT THEY CALL A RACK AND PINION ISSUE.
I NOTICED A KNOCK WHENEVER I TURNED THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR WHILE PARKED. THE STEERING BECAME INCREASINGLY HARDER AS THE DAYS PASSED. THE CARS WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED SO I TOOK IT INTO GOODYEAR TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY TOLD ME THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUSION HAD ONLY 59,000 MILES ON IT. THE MECHANIC THAT WORKED ON MY CAR TOLD ME HE PREVIOUSLY WORKED FOR FORD AND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM.
DRIVER SEAT, HEATER GOT SUPER HOT TO THE POINT OF BURNING A FEW TIME, THEN STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER BY 68K MILES. BRAKES, RIGHT SIDE FRONT COMPLETELY WORE THRU OUTSIDE PAD ONLY BY 48K MILES, RIGHT REAR DID SAME THING BY 70K. IN BOTH INSTANCES ONLY ONE PAD WAS SHOT. WHY ONLY ONE PAD WEARING TO BACKING PLATE, LOOKS LIKE PADS NOT RELEASING. ELECTRICAL, ALL WINDOWS, INCLUDING MOON ROOF, OPEN BY THEMSELVES WHILE NOWHERE NEAR CAR AND IT'S LOCKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LEAKY FUEL TANK AND CANISTER PURGE VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,000.
PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, SHUT OFF ENGINE, TRIED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. INSIDE DRIVER'S DOOR RELEASE MECHANISM BROKE, AND FAILED TO UNLATCH THE DOOR. HAD TO ROLL WINDOW DOWN AND USE THE EXTERIOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED THE TIME IT TOOK TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE INSIDE DRIVER'S DOOR RELEASE HAS BROKEN IN THE SAME WAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND EXAMINED THE POWER STEERING FLUID, WHICH WAS STILL PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE REPAIR WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED TO ENGAGE. ON ONE OCCASION, THE CONTACT REVERSED FROM THE DRIVE WAY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR BOARD CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A FENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT THAT WHILE REVERSING AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INCLINE AND SHE CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT TURNED VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE NEIGHBORS HOUSE AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET IT TO TURN. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE CONDITION CONTINUED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE BACKING OUT N A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT. I HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET IT TO TURN. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE CONDITION CONTINUED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE.
OUR FORD FUSION CONTINUES TO STOP WORKING AT 45+ MPH. WE WILL BE DRIVING AND THE CAR BASICALLY STALLS, EXCEPT IT STILL HAS POWER AND SHAKES VIOLENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 DAYS. WE HAD A SAME PROBLEM BACK IN DECEMBER, BUT FORD WOULD NOT REPAIR IT BECAUSE THE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NEVER ON. PREVIOUSLY, THE ONLY ERROR THE DEALERSHIP COULD PROVIDE WAS ERROR CODE P21111 AND STATED THE THROTTLE VALUE WAS STUCK OPEN. HERE WE ARE 3 MONTHS LATER AND IT IS WORSE. FORD HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THROTTLE VALUES, BUT FORD WONT FIX THE ISSUE. WE ARE TAKING IT TO THE SHOP AGAIN AND REFUSE TO DRIVE IT UNTIL THE ISSUE IS FIXED. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WE WERE DRIVING 65MPH WHEN IT STALLED. THAT IS NOT SAFE!!!!!
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE FRONT END AT HIGH WAY SPEEDS. SEEMS TO BE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. VIBRATION ONLY OCCURS DURING THE SPEEDS OF 50 TO 60 MPH. ANYTHING ABOVE OR BELOW THAT IS FINE. I HAVE HAD NEW TIRES, TIRES ROTATED, BALANCED, ALIGNMENT, AND JUST AN OVER ALL INSPECTION WITH NO RESULTS.
DOORS FAIL TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN PARKED FAIL TO AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK. MUST PULL LOCK TAB AND HANDLE TO UNLATCH DOOR. HANDLE STOPS JUST SHORT OF RETURNING TO ORIGINAL POSITION AFTER OPENING DOOR. HANDLE CAN BE PUSHED IN AND THE DOOR WILL LOCK WHEN THE ELECTRICAL LOCKING BUTTON IS PUSHED.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ERRATICALLY, COMPLETED FORD REFLASH OF TCM (TSB# 12-6-12) AND MADE THE TRANSMISSION FLARE AND GEAR PAUSE GO AWAY. HOWEVER NOW THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING IT A FEW HUNDRED MILES SHIFTS VERY HARD. THIS ALSO CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE FORWARD IN AN INCONSTANT MANNER (EXAMPLE - PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL THE SAME AMOUNT 2 DIFFERENT TIMES FROM A STOP RESULTED IN A JACK RABBIT START AND THE OTHER ACCELERATED MORE SMOOTHLY WITHOUT THE SUDDEN JOLT.) THE VEHICLE WILL DO THIS REPEATEDLY BUT ONLY IN LIGHT THROTTLE APPLICATIONS, 1/2 THROTTLE AND ABOVE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS PERFECT. THE 6F35 TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR ISSUES AS THE 2010-2016 MODEL FUSION / ESCAPE VEHICLES HAVE THESE ISSUES WHEN SEARCHING FOR COMMON ISSUES OR REMEDIES FOR THE ISSUES I'VE EXPERIENCED.

THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS INSUFFICIENT AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
DIRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH NOT WORKING, HAVE TO OPEN WINDOW AND OPEN DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE.

THE SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.

POWER STEERING FAILURE , FORD RAN OFF ROAD AT HIGH SPEED
TURNED MY CAR ON TONIGHT AND AN ALERT CAME ACROSS MY DISPLAY: POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. MY CAR WAS IN PARK. THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ALSO ON AT THIS TIME.

THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE SEVERE CRACKS AROUND THE AIR BAG AREA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. UPDATED 03/29/17 LJ *CN
WHEN STARTING THE CAR, I WILL GET A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING. THE POWER STEERING WILL NOT WORK. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON TO TRY TO CLEAR THE ERROR AND RESET THE POWER STEERING. THIS NORMALLY WORKS. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MULTIPLE TRIES TO CLEAR AND FUNCTION NORMALLY. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS ERROR WILL OCCUR WHILE I AM DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF FORD VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED 6 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK.
MY NAME IS [XXX] , I HAVE A FORD FUSION 2012 ,I AM THE OWNER FROM THIS CAR, BUT MY BROTHER IN LAW IS THE PRINCIPAL ( [XXX]). IM SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY ABOUT THIS CAR AND FORD ALWAYS HAS A EXCUSE SO THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO COVER THE WARRANTY. MY PROBLEM ALWAYS IS THE SAME ( POWER STEERING GET HARD AND MY ENGINE FLASHING IT NEEDS TO BE CHECK),I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO RESOLVE EVERY TWO MONTH WHEN MY CAR IS NOT WORKING. THE LAST PROBLEM WAS TWO DAYS AGO, THE SAME PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO MAKE ALIGNMENT THAT WHY MY STEERING POWER STEERING GOT HARD, I WENT TO STORE REPAIR ( FIRESTONE TO FIX ), WHEN I WENT BACK TO FORD, THEY WAS TELLING DIFFERENT EXCUSE ABOUT MY STEERING POWER. MY LAST PROBLEM WITH MY CAR I WAS RECORDING ALL CONVERSATION ,BUT THEY DIDN'T NOTICE IT,IN THIS CONVERSATION IS INCLUDED THE MANAGER [XXX] , HIS SECRETARY [XXX] , MECHANICS, TELLING THAT'S WHY MY CAR IS NOT WORKING. I RECORDED EVERYTHING. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THAT MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW I ASKED [XXX] , WHY MY ENGINE IS FLASHING ? SHE TOLD, BEFORE TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY CAR , I HAD TO PAY $79 IF I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT. MY CAR HAS 97000 MILES, MY CAR STILL HAS WARRANTY. TURNED MY CAR ON AND AN ALERT CAME ACROSS THE SCREEN OF MY DASH. POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ALSO ON AT THIS TIME.
"FORD RECALL" MY FORD FUSHION STEERING SWITCHED TO AUTOMATIC WITHOUT WARNING. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO BE DIFFICULT AT TIME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. MY VEHICLE WAS FINE WHEN I PARKED IT AFTER WORK ONE EVENING, WHEN I LEFT TO GO TO WORK THE NEXT DAY I COULDN'T STEER IT. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS INDEED THE SAME ISSUE MENTIONED IN THE RECALL.
I WAS DRIVING NORMAL AND ALL THE SUDDEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I GOT TWO ALARMS ON MY DASH. SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW, AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING.

AT 50,000 MILES THE LEFT FRONT INSIDE DOOR HANDLE FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. INABILITY TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE COULD CREATE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SUBMERGED AND THE POWER WINDOWS WERE NO LONGER OPERATIONAL. I FIRST NOTICED THIS DOOR HANDLE FAILURE WHILE PARKED ON A CITY STREET. THE FORD PART # IS 1 60FOZ04.

I WAS IN MOTION ON 83-S DRIVING 55MPH. ALL AT ONCE, ALL OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND I WAS UNABLE TO STEER MY CAR LIKE I AM ABLE TO NORMALLY. AS A RESULT, I CRASHED INTO THE CEMENT BARRIER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. DUE TO THIS CRASH MY CAR HAS BEEN DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.

IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT. MY FUSION DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 20K MILES ON IT YET.
