2013 FORD FUSION ENGINE ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH WITH MY HUSBAND AND SON. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR ACCELERATED AND WOULD NOT STOP. I PUMPED THE BREAKS , WHEN I REALIZED THAT WAS NOT WORKING I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BREAK ALL THE WAY. THE CAR FINALLY STARTED TO SLOW DOWN BUT WOULD NOT COMPLETELY AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL IN ACCELERATION. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT DOWN TO A SAFE ENOUGH SPEED, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT TO A DEALERSHIP 2 MILES AWAY WHERE IT HAS BEEN THERE SINCE. THE DEALERSHIP IS GREAT, ITS FORD CORPORATE THAT IS THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY RECALL THAT NEEDS ACTION RIGHT AWAY. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER 2 WEEKS. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORPORATE STATED THEY HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. FORD CORPORATE HAS WALKED THROUGH STEPS WITH THE TECHNICIANS TO TRY AND FIX THE ISSUE. THEY HAVE REPLACED MANY PARTS AND FAILED AT EVERY ATTEMPT. THEY STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG AND REFUSE TO ACCOMMODATE US IN ANY WAY. I CANT EVEN GET A RETURN CALL FROM FORD CORPORATE. TIME FOR A LAWYER. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE DRIVING THIS CAR.
THE PASSENGER DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS TURNING A CORNER. I STOPPED TO TRY AND CLOSE THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THIS DOOR LATCH WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED DURING A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 10MPH) THE CAR BEGINS TO RUN VERY ROUGH, RPM DROPS, AND WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THERE IS NO POWER, AND THE CAR THEN DIES. IT CAN BE RESTARTED, BUT IT'S A BIT HARDER THAN NORMAL, AND THEN IT RUNS. TWICE HAPPENED IN PARKING LOTS, BUT ONCE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A PARKING LOT, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DEALERSHIP HAS CHARGED $190 ONLY TO TELL ME THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. FORD CASE #CAS11900027
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY 2 HOURS FROM HOME AND I HAD A WARNING LIGHT COME ON, ENGINE COOLANT TEMPTRESS OVERHEATED. SO ME AND MY HUSBAND PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE, WE HAD COOLANT.WE SAT FOR ABOUT 10 MINS TO BE SAFE. AND PROCEEDED DOWN THE HIGHWAY. AFTER 2 MINS WE HAD ANOTHER WARNING LIGHT COME ON STEERING SYSTEM FAILURE. AT THIS POINT HE COULDN'T MOVE THE WHEEL SO WE PULLED OVER AGAIN AND AS SOON AS WE STOPPED BLACK SMOKE CAME IN THE VENTS AND UP THE WINDSHIELD. AS WE OPEN OUR DOORS THERE IS FLAMES COMING IN THE DOOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WE QUICKLY EVACUATED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED 911.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE INSIDE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
WHEN THE CAR IS WARM, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL EVERY TIME WHEN RESTARTED AFTER IT WAS TURNED OFF FOR LESS THAN AND HOUR. LOSES ALL THROTTLE RESPONSE, HAVE HAD A FEW SCARES WHEN TURNING ONTO A BUSY ROAD AND VEHICLE STALLS. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE 5 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND CENTER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELTS FAILED TO RETRACT AND SECURE DURING THE IMPACT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A HAND (METACARPAL) INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR A DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY IN MY 2013 FORD FUSION WEEKS AGO. BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE IS USED IN A FLEET CAPACITY, I PULLED IT FROM SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. I TALKED TO FORD AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO REMEDY AT THIS TIME. I THEN ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL MY VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD THAT FORD DOESN'T HAVE A RENTAL PROGRAM FOR RECALLS. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS MANUFACTURE DOESN'T HAVE A PLAN TO RECTIFY AN INCONVENIENCE THAT THEIR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO GO THROUGH REGARDING A PROBLEM THAT WASN'T THE CUSTOMERS FAULT TO BEGIN WITH. I'M VERY UNHAPPY FORD TREATS CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS.

LAIRD NOLLER FORD OF TOPEKA IN TOPEKA, KANSAS WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE HAD MY FORD FUSION FOR 6 MONTHS. OVER THE LAST 2 MONTHS I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH BRAKING. THE BRAKES FAIL FOR A SPLIT SECOND JUST BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP TO ADD TO THAT IT SOMETIMES DECIDES TO SURGE AND LURCHES FORWARD JUST BEFORE IT STOPS. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR, THE FIRST FEW TIMES I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE LAST TIME, THEY DECIDE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BOTTLE AND A MODULE. FOR A FEW DAYS THE CAR SEEMED TO BE DOING BETTER UNTIL TODAY WHEN PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. AS I WAS STOPPING TO PARK, THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD INTO A PILE OF WOOD. IF THIS HAD BEEN AT AN INTERSECTION OR SOMEONE CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL! LET ALONE LET MY TEEN DRIVE BEHIND THE WHEEL. I AM OUT OF OPTIONS! I CANNOT REFINANCE ANOTHER CAR.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING HIS FORD FUSION INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF OUR HOME WHEN THE PASSENGER CAR SIDE DOOR OPENED. SINCE THEN PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. I RESEARCHED THIS A BIT AND FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LARGE AMOUNT OF RECALLS ON THE DOORS BECOMING UNLATCHED WHILE DRIVING FOR THIS 2013 FORD FUSION BUT WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.
ON LOCAL ROAD, VEHICHLE HESITATES WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS. WHEN I GET TO A STOP LIGHT IT SHUDDERS THEN STALLS. THIS OCCURS FREQUENTLY FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS AS OF THIS ENTRY DATE.MY VEHICLE HAS UNDER 53K MILES AND THE DEALER SAYS THE PART AND FIX IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. ITS CALLED A LO PRESSURE GAS SENSOR I BELIEVE. IF ITS ATTACHED TO THE GAS TANK THEN HOW COULD IT NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY WITH UNDER 60K MILES STANDARD COVERAGE.IS THIS STANDARD FOR ALL DEALERSHIPS WITH WARRANTY COVERAGE OR LACK THERE OF FOR THIS PART.
CAR ENGINE STALLS WHEN STARTING OFF AND AT SLOW SPEEDS.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON A LOCAL ROAD THE STEERING ABRUPTLY STOPPED WORKING, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. AN EPAS WARNING APPEARED ON THE SERVICE MONITOR SCREEN. WHEN I PULLED OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN EVERYTHING OPERATED NORMALLY. WHEN I MADE A LEFT TURN INTO A GAS STATION THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED ALMOST CAUSING ME TO DRIVE INTO A CAR EXITING THE GAS STATION BECAUSE IT WAS SO DIFFICULT TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. IT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART IN THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE SAME PART INVOLVED IN THE PREVIOUS GENERATION OF FUSIONS WITH THE EPAS THAT WAS RECALLED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE, THIS IS DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND THERE ARE A LOT OF 2013+ FUSIONS ON THE ROAD WITH THIS SAME EPAS SYSTEM AS MINE.
EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY CAR (USED) IT HAS MAKE A LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MANY AUTO SERVICE SHOPS (INCLUDING AUTHORIZED FORD SHOPS) AND NO ONE COULD EVER FIND THE ISSUE (SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM THE TIRE). THE OTHER DAY WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO TO WORK, THE ABS AND POWER STEERING WARNINGS WERE BOTH BLINKING ON MY DASH. I TRIED TO TURN MY WHEEL TO SEE IF THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT AND IT WAS NOT WORKING. I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND IT SEEMED TO RESET BOTH THE ABS AND POWER STEERING MODULES. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR TO WORK AND THEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT CHECKED OUT. THE STEERING GEAR IS FAILING, MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 80K MILES. THIS IS A RECALL FOR 2013 FORD FUSIONS BUT MY VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND HAVE READ OTHER'S STORIES AND THIS CAN HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING, I GOT LUCKY THIS TIME AND IT SHOWED UP FIRST THING WHEN I TURNED MY VEHICLE ON.

THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE OVERHEATING UNDER VARIOUS HIGH SPEED CONDITIONS IN WHICH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO GAIN SPEED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COOLANT INDICATOR NEEDLE ENTERED INTO THE RED ZONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2013 FORD FUSION 1.6L SE THAT I HAVE HAD TO TAKE BACK TO LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THEM RETIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL BOLT. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO BECOME LOOSE AND MOVING SIDE TO SIDE AND UP AND DOWN. THEY SAID THAT THE BOLT WAS VERY LOOSE AND HAD TO BE TIGHTENED. SO I WOULD SAY THAT YOU NEED TO INCLUDE THE 2013 INTO THE INVESTIGATION. DATE IS AN ESTIMATE IF NEED MORE INFO I CAN GET.
WEAR OR CORROSION ON THE FRONT SPEED SENSOR HARDNESS LED TO THE DISABLING OF ALL TRACTION/STABILITY CONTROL, REAR PARK ASSIST, ABS AND AIRBAG OPERATION.
2013 FUSION OVERHEATED ON HWY, WITH NO WARNING. OVERHEATED LIGHT CAME ON, CAR STARTED TO SPUTTER AND QUITE, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HWY. FORD WILL NOT REPAIR AS PART OF THE COOLANT RECALL.
2013 FORD FUSION WITH 60,000 MILES - WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH A POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THAT READ "STEERING LOSS / STOP SAFELY". SUDDENLY THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY DEAD AND IT WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OR RECOVER THE CAR'S STEERING AT ALL. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE ENGINE DOWN AND MOVE JUST ENOUGH TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I COULD GLIDE TO A STOP. MY FAMILY AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR COULD HAVE HURT OR KILLED OTHERS WITH THIS FAILURE. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES, AND THAT THERE IS A LAW SUIT AGAINST FORD IN CALIFORNIA SEEKING CLASS ACTION STATUS. MY CALLS TO FORD WERE ESSENTIALLY IGNORED AND I WAS PUSHED BACK ON THE DEALERSHIP, WHO HAD NO POWER TO AUTHORIZE ANY REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE $2000 EXPENSE. IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT IT WILL TAKE A MAJOR COLLISION WHERE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. HOPEFULLY THE NHSA AND THE LAWSUIT WILL RECTIFY THIS WITH THESE VEHICLES.
REAR PASSANGER DOOR LATCH FAILS, DOOR FLYS OPEN WHEN DRIVING AND WILL NOT CLOSE.
AFTER TURNING ON THE IGNITION AND STARTING TO DRIVE AWAY, THE CAR ENGINE WILL SPUTTER, ACTS LIKE ITS STARVING FOR FUEL, STARTS BUCKING AND THEN SHUTS OFF. NO CODES OR WARNING LIGHTS ARE DISPLAYED. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN PARKING LOTS AND ON STREET PARKING. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC FROM A PARALLEL PARKING STALL ON THE STREET. PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR HAS NO AFFECT. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, IT RUNS FINE UNTIL I TURN OFF THE CAR. THEN IT IS RANDOM IF IT WILL OCCUR AT THE NEXT ENGINE START. AFTER OWNING THE CAR FOR 3.5 YEARS, THIS JUST STARTED HAPPENING LAST WEEK. IT HAS HAPPENED 8 TIMES OVER THE LAST 7 DAYS. AT FIRST IS ONLY HAPPENED 1 A DAY, BUT RECENTLY IT IS HAPPENING MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY.
CAR STARTED ON FIRE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING HOME FOR NO REASON LUCKY TO GET OUT
ON FEBRUARY 5, 2017 THE ENGINE OF MY 2013 FORD FUSION CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CAR BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. I STOPPED AND OPENED THE HOOD TO INSPECT AND THE ENGINE WAS ALREADY IN FLAMES. THE FIRE SPREAD RAPIDLY AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO BE CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE BLAZE. MY SON AND I WERE BARELY ABLE TO ESCAPE UNHARMED. I CONTACTED FORD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNWILLING ASSIST. THEY CLOSED MY ORIGINAL CLAIM WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. I ALSO ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS RELATED TO ENGINE FIRES AND THEY STATE NO. I FEEL I AM UNABLE TO GET ANY ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER THAT PUT BOTH MINE AND MY SON'S LIVES IN DANGER AND ALSO DESTROYED THE SIZEABLE INVESTMENT I MADE INTO THE PURCHASE OF A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. PLEASE ASSIST!
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. WHILE SITTING IDLE AT A STOPLIGHT, THE CAR WARNED THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING SO I PULLED OVER AND SHUT IT OFF FOR 20 MINUTES. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I WENT OUT TO MY CAR, I NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF CLEAR FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT. ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND (ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP) STAYED OFF UNTIL I PICKED THE CAR BACK UP AND STARTED DRIVING HOME. AFTER RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS AT THE DEALERSHIP, IT TURNS OUT THAT THE ENGINE BYPASS SOLENOID VALVE SHORTED OUT DUE TO A FAULTY COOLANT TEE ON THE HEATER CORE INLET. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THAT THIS WAS A RECALL ON 2013 FORD FUSION SE 1.6L CARS. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY SPECIFIC 2013 FORD FUSION SE 1.6L WAS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL (ALTHOUGH IT WAS INCLUDED IN THREE OTHER RECALLS FROM FORD). AFTER A SIMPLE SEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS CAR-REGARDLESS OF THE RECALL. APPARENTLY OTHER 2013 FORD FUSION OWNERS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ENGINE COOLANT PROBLEM. IT ALSO SEEMS THE ORIGINAL RECALL HAD TO BE REOPENED TO INCLUDE ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. PERHAPS IT NEEDS TO BE REOPENED AGAIN.

THIS TIME THE WARNING STAYED ON UNTIL I MANUALLY TURNED IT OFF. UPON RESEARCHING, I FOUND THE RECALL (#15V250000) FOR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF 2013 FORD FUSIONS. I ALSO FOUND, TOO NUMEROUS TO COUNT, COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET OF EXACT SAME SCENARIO, AND THESE VEHICLES NOT BEING UNDER THE RECALL EITHER. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GOT SOMEONE IN A FOREIGN LAND, THAT CONTINUED TO REPEAT, YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT AMONG THOSE IN THE RECALL, YOU MUST TAKE YOUR CAR TO A FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION OF THIS PROBLEM. NO MATTER WHAT CONCERN OR QUESTION I POSED TO HIM, THAT WAS THE ONLY ANSWER I RECEIVED. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED. THE DEALER SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUSION LUG NUTS AND OTHER LUG NUTS OF THE SAME TYPE. THE DEALER GOT THE LUG NUTS OFF, BUT THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $52/TIRE. MY DEALER IN ASHEVILLE, NC ALSO ADVISED MY TO REPLACE THE LUG NUTS THE NEXT TIME I HAD MY TIRES ROTATED, BUT SAID NOT TO BUY THEM FROM FORD. THERE ARE SOLID STEEL/CHROME AFTER MARKET LUG NUTS THAT ARE BETTER THEN THE ALUMINIUM CAPPED LUG NUTS THAT FORD USES. THIS IS CLEARLY AN ENGINEERING ISSUE. IT DID NOT ALLOW ME TO CHANGE A TIRE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE EQUIPMNET SUPPLIED WITH THE CAR. I HAD TO WAIT OVER AND HOUR ON THE SIDE OF AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FOR A TOW TRUCK WHICH IS ALSO UNSAFE. I DO HAVE THE LUG NUTS AS WELL AS RECIEPT FROM FOR TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE LUG NUTS. THE ALUMINIUM LUG CAPS ARE VERY DEFORMED SINCE THEY HAD TO HAMMER A SOCKET ONTO THEM TO GET THEM OFF.
DOOR LATCH RECALL YESTERDAY, IN THE RAIN, I STARTED TO DRIVE ON A CITY STREET AND MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED AND MY DASH INDICATED THE DOOR WAS OPEN SO I PULLED OVER, GRABBED THE HANDLE AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR...WELLL, THE DOOR WOULDN'T LOCK, IT KEPT OPENING, SO I MADE A LOOP THROUGH THE DOOR HANDLE, USING MY BELT AND DROVE WITH ONE HAND ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND ONE HAND ON MY BELT TO TRY AND HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED. I LOOKED ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A DOOR LATCH RECALL LAST YEAR AFFECTING ALMOST 2.4 MILLION CARS, WHICH MY YEAR AND MODEL WERE INVOLVED.I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. THEN I CHECKED ONLINE FOR ACTIVE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE AND THE DOOR LATCH WAS NOT ON THERE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR RESPONSE SO THE GAVE ME FORD CORPORATE'S PHONE NUMBER. I CONTACTED THEM, THEY GAVE ME THE SAME RESPONSE AS THE DEALERSHIP BUT WAS GOING TO DOCUMENT IT AND TO KEEP MY RECEIPT, FOR THE REPAIRS, IN CASE MY VIN GETS ADDED TO THE RECALL. SO I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY COMPLAINTS IT TAKES FOR YOU TO INVESTIGATE THIS, TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT THIS SITUATION IS CLEARLY UNSAFE AND LAWSUIT WAITING TO HAPPEN. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A COMPLETE POWER STEERING GEAR FAILURE, JUST OUTSIDE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS 33,000 MILES. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE AND NOTICED FORD HAS PENDING LAWSUITS FOR THIS ISSUE AND MANY COMPLAINTS AND DECIDED TO HIDE THE ISSUE THEY KNEW ABOUT AND PUT THE CUSTOMER ON THE HOOK FOR THE $1900 REPAIR COST WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. THIS COULD HAVE HAD DEADLY CONSEQUENCES FOR ME AS THE POWER STEERING FAILURE CAME ON WHILE GOING AT FREEWAY SPEED. LUCKILY IT HAD JUST ENOUGH TO GET ME OFF THE FREEWAY OR I WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH AS I HAD NO STEERING. I HAVE OWNED MULTIPLE FORDS WITH 190,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH THE OLD DESIGN. THE NEW ELECTRONIC SYSTEM OBVIOUSLY HAS MAJOR DESIGN FLAWS AND ISSUES BASED ON MANY COMPLAINTS AND LAWSUITS JUST BY SEARCHING THIS ONLINE AND FORD HAS SHRUGGED OF THE ISSUE AS IF IT WAS NON EXISTENT. NOW I AM WORRIED THIS IS GOING TO OCCUR AGAIN AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN OF MINE IF I LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW AND FLAWED OVERALL STEERING GEAR. THE NHTSA NUMBER IS 19V632000. FORD IS DENYING THAT MY CAR IS PART OF THE LATEST RECALL AND CANNOT TELL ME WHY. I BELIEVE FORD IS KNOWINGLY EXCLUDING CARS FROM THE RECALL THAT PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO REIMBURSE THE HIGH DOLLAR AMOUNTS. WE WERE DRIVING 70MPH CRUISE CONTROL ON A HIGHWAY, LET OFF CRUISE CONTROL TO DECREASE SPEED ON THE UPCOMING BYPASS AND THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY POWERED DOWN AND WE COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BYPASS. FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH BROKE AGAIN, ONE YEAR AND 5 MONTHS AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED PURSUANT TO A RECALL. FORD WILL NOT HONOR ANY WARRANTY ON THE PART OR LABOR AND HAVE ASKED ME TO PAY MORE THAN $500 TO REPAIR IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE DOOR CAN SWING WIDE OPEN WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION PUTTING ALL PASSENGERS AT RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. LUCKILY, THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AFTER VEHICLE WAS PARKED, PASSENGER EXITED AND DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT ANY LONGER.
