TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND NO REPORTS WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OVERHEATING SENSOR WARNING INDICATOR PREVIOUSLY ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED WHEN IT ACTUALLY HAD NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND COOLANT WAS LEAKING ONTO THE SENSOR. THE SENSOR CONNECTION WAS DAMAGED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), BUT WAS UNSURE IF VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

2013 FORD FUSION WAS PURCHASED CERTIFIED PREOWNED BY AN INDEPENDENT DEALERSHIP CALLED CARSENSE(WWW.CARSENSE.COM) IN PENNSYLVANIA IN MARCH 2015 WITH 8K MILES ON IT. THREE YEAR 36K MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN FEBRUARY 2016. THE CAR AT TIME OF POWER-STEERING FAILURE WAS SITTING IN A PRIVATE COVERED PARKING GARAGE WITH 25K MILES ON IT. THE CAR IS ONLY USED FOR LEISURE DRIVING AND IS WELL MAINTAINED. AFTER THIS HAPPENED I HAD IT TOWED TO A INDEPENDENT CAR SERVICE SHOP WHO WAS HONEST ENOUGH TO CALL A FORD DEALERSHIP WHOSE REPRESENTATIVE ELUDED THE FORD MAY TAKE THE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS ON THIS, AFTER A $150 TOW TO THIS DEALER SHOP THE FORD DEALER DEPARTMENT DENIED EVER HAVING CLAIMED THEY WOULD HELP AND REFUSED TO HELP IN ANY WAY. THE FORD DEALERS RATIONAL: 1) THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM AN INDEPENDENT DEALER 2) WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED 3) THEY REQUIRED A $120 EXAMINATION FEE, EVEN THOUGH THE INDEPENDENT DEALER HAD ALREADY DONE THIS. WHEN ALL WAS SAID AN DONE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED TOTALING $2106.69. THIS UNPLANNED FAILURE(RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES) SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH FORD AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR QUALITY. I RECEIVED A MESSAGE IN MY DASH THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAD FAIL. I HAD NO POWER STEERING. THE CAR WAS HARD FOR TO CONTROL. I WAS ON A PRIVATE STREET IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I WAS LUCKY. I CHECK FOR A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND DIDN'T FIND ANY. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME TO BE IN. I FEEL FORD HAS SOLD ME A DEATH TRAP.
CAR LOST POWER AND STARTED REVVING GOING UP A HILL. WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. NEXT DAY IT WOULDN'T START. IT'S STILL AT THE SHOP AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG
THE WINDSHIELD IS SEPARATING " DELAMINATING " CONTACTED FORD THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. I PERSONALLY HAVE SPOKE WITH OTHER FUSION OWNERS AND THEY AS WELL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THERE CARS. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE WINDSHIELD RESULTING IN THE SEPARATION OF THE TWO PIECES OF GLASS FROM THE LAMINATE. I ALSO BELIEVE IF NOT TAKING CARE OF THAT IT WOULD RESULT IN VISION IMPAIRMENT. HERE ARE 2 PHOTOS SHOWING THE SEPARATION OF THE WINDSHIELD.
FUEL LEAKING AND YOU ALL SENT OUT A RECALL 13V227000 ON 05/31/2003 WHICH FORD IS SAYING THAT MY CAR IS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THEY RECALLED CARS BUILT ON FEB 11, 2003 & MY CAR WAS BUILT FEB 20,2003 IN THE SAME FACTORY IN HERMOSILLO, MEXICO. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 1 YEAR AGO & I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE THIS PART. THE VEHICLE IN INOPERABLE AT THIS POINT DUE TO THE FUEL LEAKING. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE RECALL SENT OUT BY NHTSA DOES NOT SPECIFY A MODEL OR BUILD DATE THEREFORE; CARS BUILD WITHIN THE SAME MONTH IN THE SAME FORD PLANT SHOULD'VE BEEN HONORED. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR A $300 PART FOR I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT WITH LIMITED INCOME.
THERE IS A RECALL FOR SEATBELT, THAT SEATBELTS ARE UNSAFE FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER BUT THE RECALLED PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET AND DEALER WON'T PROVIIDE LOANER CAR.
RECALL ON SEAT BELTS RESTRAINTS HAVE NOT BEEN REMEDY. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER16V875000 FROM 2016
WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER, POWER STEERING WOULD SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF THE POWER STEERING FAILURE AS IT ABRUPTLY SHUT DOWN MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING. UPON RESTARTING VEHICLE, POWER STEERING WOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY UNTIL VEHICLE PASSED THROUGH ANOTHER PUDDLE OF WATER. CYCLED THROUGH THIS ISSUE SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL VEHICLE WOULD NOT RECOVER FROM POWER STEERING FAULT. NOW FORD DEALERSHIP IS REQUIRING THAT I REPLACE STEERING RACK TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED IN FEBRUARY OF 2016 DUE TO RECALL REGARDING STEERING COMPONENT.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH IS NOT WORKING. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE "DOOR IS AJAR" ALERT CAME ON. THERE WAS A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME.
CAR OVER HEATING ENGINE AND COLLANT SYSTEM AFFECTED
AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE THEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF FOR 10 TO 20 MINUTES, WHEN I RESTART THE ENGINE IT WILL (WITHIN 30 SECONDS) BEGIN TO RUN ROUGH AND QUIT. IT HAS DONE THIS NOW MORE THAN 50 TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, BUT THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. SINCE I HAD TO GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE ON THIS FORM BELOW, I PICKED A DATE THAT IT HAPPENED.
8/15/15 VEHICLE WENT IN FOR REPLACEMENT/PAINTING OF TWO NEW FRONT DOORS DUE TO RUST AT INSIDE EDGES. TODAY 10/16/16, NOTICED PAINT BUBBLING AT THE EDGE OF THE HOOD IN THE SAME MANNER. BOTH AT AN AREA WHERE THE METAL IS "CRIMPED" AT EDGE.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
LATCH ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED UNDER RECALL (FORD RECALL 15S16, NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 15V250000) FAILED AND CAUSED DOOR TO OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. I HAD TO PHYSICALLY HOLD THE DOOR TO KEEP IT SHUT IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR HOME AND THEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. I PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE HAD IT TOWED INSTEAD OF DRIVING IT. FORD FAILED TO REPLACE PART UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF NUMBER OF MILES THAT HAD BEEN DRIVEN SINCE THE LATCH WAS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. FORD PART # USED TO REPLACE LATCH WAS FE8Z 5421813 C. *TR
PASSENGER REAR DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT PROPERLY INTERLOCK, MEANING DOOR WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. THIS HAPPENED IN A STATIONARY POSITION WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR TO GET A PASSENGER OUT THEN I WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR, HAVING THE DOOR BOUNCE BACK TO ME. TO NOTE: A RECENT RECALL WAS ADMINISTERED DUE TO FAULTY LATCHES AND I HAD IT REPLACED AT FORD IN FEB 2016... 8 MONTHS LATER ISSUE RESURFACED, NOT COOL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V250000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT LATCH ALLOWING DOOR TO BE SECURELY SHUT. DOOR HAD TO BE TIED SHUT UNTIL REPAIRS COULD BE MADE. DEALER SAID IT WAS KNOWN DEFECT BUT CHARGED FOR REPAIR.
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED AGAIN, THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED 14 MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR IT UNDER THE RECALL. I TOOK THE CAR BACK AND IT IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WITH THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED.
DRIVING ON RT 17 NORTHERN VA A WARNING CAME UP TO SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE AND CALLED FORD. AFTER TURNING OF THE CAR I LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I WAS TOWED INTO A FORD DEALER THE COST OF THE REPAIR $2140. FORD PAID $1000.00 OF THIS REPAIR. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT FORD HAD THOUSANDS OF FUSIONS WITH THIS SAME REPAIR RECALLED BUT BECAUSE OF WERE MY FUSION WAS BUILT IT IS NOT UNDER RECALL. I'M GLAD I WAS NOT ON INTERSTATE 95 WHEN THIS OCCURRED. FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THIS RECALL. *TR
THE DOOR LATCH BROKE CAUSING THE DOOR TO NOT LATCH CLOSED. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THIS YEAR MODEL, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME SO NO DAMAGED WAS CAUSED. THERE IS ALSO NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOORS WERE REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (SWANSON FAHRNEY FORD IN SELMA, CA, 559-896-4121) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOORS WERE RECALLED AND REPAIRED; THEREFORE, THE DEALER WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CURRENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER TO CHECK ON THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE DOOR WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
WELL I NOTICED PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR MAYBE A MONTH AFTER I GOT THE CAR TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP THEY DIDNT SEE ANY PROBLEMS BUT IM HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING, I HAVE HAD A COOLANT PROBLEM FIXED ALREADY. THE SHOCKS WENT OUT ON THE CARE WITHIN LESS THAN A YEAR. HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUELING SYSTEM. ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE LEFT LIGHT SYSTEM. THEY HAVE ONLY TO RECALLS WITH MY VIN NUMBER OF THINGS THAT I HAD ALREADY GOTTEN FIXED. SO IM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE ISSUES THAT ARE GOING ON WITH MY CAR AND FEEL THAT IT REALLY NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. EVERY THING THAT HAS HAPPEND IS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION.
MY 2013 FUSION STALLS OUT IN PARK, REVERSE. WHEN I START DRIVING IT CUTS OFF AT 20-30 MPH. WORRIED ABOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. TOOK MY CAR TO GET DIAGNOSE ON 9/30/16. IT WAS A FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR ON THE FUEL RAIL AND REPLACED IT. DIDN'T CLEAR CODE. TOOK IT BACK ON 11/10/16 TO GET RE-DIAGNOSED. FOUND THAT IT WAS A PURGE VALVE THAT THEY REPLACED FOR FREE. 11/11/16 AT 5:30PM I ARRIVE HOME FROM WORK. 1 HR LATER MY WIFE WAS GOING SOMEWHERE AND IT STALLED OUT. THANK GOD IT HAPPENED IN OUR APARTMENT COMPLEX. THIS ISSUES IS DAGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ON THE THE ROAD. I'M TAKING IT BACK 11/12/2016. LETS SEE WHATS THEY TELL MY..FORD, PLEASE HELP US WITH THIS ISSUE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CURB ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE STREET. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,297.
THE PASSENGER DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING AND I HAD TO USE ROPE TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED THAT THE LATCH WAS INTERNALLY FAULTY AND WAS REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE.

MY CAR CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH A SHAKING . THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER I AM BACKING OUT OR DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ROUGH FROM 1ST>2ND GEAR AND VERY HARSH FROM 2ND>3RD GEAR. ALSO AT TIMES, WHEN PRESSING THE GAS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OR DO ANYTHING, IT JUST SITS THERE AND THINKS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN SLAMS INTO GEAR. THIS IS ALL HAPPENING WHEN IN MOTION. IT IS ALSO JERKY AT TIMES WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP.
DRIVING ON CONCRETE HIGHWAY AT 72 MPH. HEARD A RUMBLING SOUND LIKE A NEARBY MOTORCYCLE COMING FROM THE RIGHT REAR. CAR IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL, SLOWED AND PULLED TO THE SHOULDER. DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTIRE TIRE CARCASS HAD COME OFF. ONLY THE SIDEWALLS WERE STILL ATTACHED TO THE WHEEL. TIRE HAD ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PROBABLY AT 32 PSI COLD. GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2, 235/45R18 94V.
BOLTS KEEP COMING OUT OF MY SEAT. WHILE, DRIVING AND COMING TO A STOP MY SEAT POPS AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO COME COMPLETELY OUT. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED TWO TIMES. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT SHUT AND I HAD TO HOLD IT CLOSE WITH A BUNGEE CORD. BILL UTTER FORD IN DENTON, TX. SAID THIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THEY CHARGED ME TO FIX THE ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED AND HAVE THE REMAINING DOORS FIXED. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE FAULTY DOOR LATCH.
I HAVE A RECALL ON MY CAR TO REPLACE THE TRANSMITION CABLE. I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM BACK IN 2016. I KNEW BACK THEN THAT THIS WAS A BIG ISSUE AND THAT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE RECALL ISSUE AND I PAID $571.25 TO FIX A TRANMISSION SHIFTER CABLE. I STILL HAVE THE RECEIPT AND ALL THE NOTES THAT THE DEALERSHIP WROTE AND IT MATCHES THIS RECALL. I FILED ACOMPLAINT WITH NHTSA AND NO ACTION TAKEN BACK THEN AND I FEEL SINCE THIS IS A RECALL THAT I SHOULD HAVE NEVER PAID OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS RECALL AND I FEEL I SHOULD GET A REFUND FROM FORD. I ALMOST DIED WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY GEAR SHIFT AND I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN I LOST CONTROL OF MY 2013 FORD FUSION ON 9/16/16. I COULD NOT GET MY CAR GEAR TO SHIFT AT ALL AND IT WAS MOVING BY ITSELF. IF IT WASNT FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ME AND MY TWO CHILDREN WOULD HAVE CRASHED AND GOT INJURED OR IMJURY SOMEONE ELSE. I HAVE ALL MY PAPERWORK AND WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE FROM I KNEW BACK THEN THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER/DEFECTIVE IN 2016, AND RECEIVED A LETTER DATED AUG 2018 THAT THERE IS A RECALL THAT I PAID FULL PRICE TO REPAIR AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA ABOUT IT, BUT NO ACTION WAS TAKEN BACK THEN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. WHEN THE AIR BAG UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD DEPLOYED, IT CAUSED THE CONTACT'S FOOT TO PRESS DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, FURTHER INJURING THE CONTACT. THE AIR BAGS LOCATED IN THE STEERING WHEEL HAD A DELAYED RESPONSE, WHICH ALSO CAUSED FURTHER INJURY. WHEN IT RAINS I GET A PUDDLE OF WATER IN THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT FLOOR BOARDS..WE CANNOT FIND WHERE THE WATER IS COMING FROM. THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING IT'S COMING FROM A FAULTY SEAL AROUND THE WINDSHIELD.IT HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION AND WHEN STATIONARY.
2013 FORD FUSION SE 1.6L 39,000 MILES SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. BARELY ABLE TO TURN AROUND AND GET BACK -- LUCKILY ONLY TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM HOME. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF, THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY. THE NEXT DAY, BOTH PASSENGER SIDE DOORS PROCEEDED NOT TO CLOSE DUE TO FAULTY LATCHES, SO WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER AND TURNS OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LATCHES (FYI, WE WERE IN JUST TWO WEEKS PREVIOUSLY FOR SERVICE WITHOUT ANY MENTION OF THE RECALL -- ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE, AS WE HAD OUR DOG IN THE BACKSEAT, AND WE HAD TO USE HER LEASH TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT SO SHE WOULD FLY OUT OF THE DOOR THAT WOULDN'T CLOSE). WE THEN ASKED THEM TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIND ANYTHING OUT ABOUT THE WRENCH LIGHT. DEALER SERVICE CENTER SAID THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $700. AFTER RESEARCHING, IT TURNS OUT FORD HAS ADMITTED PROBLEMS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE AND ALLOWED FOR A ONE TIME REPAIR FOR 10 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. HOWEVER, BOTH SERVICE CENTER AND REGIONAL MANAGEMENT HAVE CLAIMED THAT OUR CAR DOES NOT MEET REQUIREMENTS BASED ON VIN. HOW CAN THIS BE? IF WE HAVE THE ISSUE, THEN THE ISSUE IS PRESENT IN OUR CAR. THIS PART ISN'T DUE TO BE SERVICED UNTIL 75,000 MILES PER MANUFACTURER SUGGESTION. WE CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HOTLINE WHICH SENT US AROUND AND AROUND AND BASICALLY IT COMES DOWN TO WHATEVER THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER TELLS US. THE PART IS SO BACK ORDERED, PRESUMABLY BECAUSE THERE IS A WIDE-SPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM (ACCORDING TO A LOCAL FORD PARTS DEPARTMENT MANAGER) - THAT THE PRICE OF THIS PART HAS SKYROCKETED. MAKING US THE PROFIT CENTERS FOR A KNOWN, BORDERLINE RECALL/SAFETY PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN ADDRESSED IS ABSURD AND UNBELIEVABLE TO ME AT THIS POINT. NO WE HAVE GONE FROM LOVING OUR CAR THAT HAS GIVEN US ZERO PROBLEMS FOR THREE YEARS TO NEVER BUY A FORD. EVER.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 FORD FUSION, 1.6L ECOBOOST TO WORK WHEN I NOTICED THE ENGINE STARTED OVERHEATING WHILE I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL. I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND PULLED OVER. AS I DID THIS, SOMEONE DRIVING BY SAID THEY SAW FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER MY CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE CAR ONTO SOME PAVEMENT AND GOT OUT TO CHECK. I SAW FLAMES DRIPPING FROM THE OIL RESERVOIR. I GRABBED MY BACKPACK AND STARTED RUNNING UP THE HILL TO MY OFFICE, WHICH WAS ONLY ABOUT 100 YARDS AWAY, TO GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. AS I STARTED RUNNING, I HEARD A LOUD WOOSH SOUND AND SAW THAT THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR HAD BURST INTO FLAMES. LESS THAN A MINUTE AFTER I HAD GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR. THE FLAMES WERE ABOUT 15 FEET HIGH AND LUCKILY DIDN'T IGNITE THE DRY, GRASSY HILLSIDE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND PUT OUT THE FIRE.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS. WIPERS ARE WAY TO SLOW. IN THE RAIN IT IS SUPER HARD TO SEE AND YOU HAVE NO VISIBILITY. I WAS GOING DOWN A ROAD THAT HAS A SPEED LIMIT OF 55 IN HARD RAIN, I OBVIOUSLY WAS DOING A SLOWER SPEED LIMIT DUE TO THE DANGER OF THE RAIN AND MY VEHICLE'S SLOW WIPERS. MY VISIBILITY GOT SO BAD THAT I DECIDED THAT I HAD NO CHOICE TO TURN TO THE RIGHT ON A ROAD THAT WOULD GIVE ME ACCESS TO A SUPER WALMART. MY VISIBILITY WAS SO BAD THAT I COULD NOT TURN IN TO THE WALMART PARKING LOT BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME IN ORDER FOR ME TO CONTINUE ON THE ROAD AND MAKE A SAFE LEFT HAND TURN. I HAD TO PUT MY FLASHING LIGHTS ON AND USE MY LEFT WINDOW TO FIND MY WAY DOWN THE PATH OF THE TURNING LANE AND OUT OF THE STRAIGHT LANES. AT THIS POINT I PUT THE DEFOG BUTTON ON FOR THE WINDOW AND IT HELPED A LITTLE BIT. THE RAIN STARTED TO SLOW DOWN SO I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON THE ROAD WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY.
