No warning light. Rpm’s surge high, low then engine shuts off while driving or idle. I could be in the middle of an intersection and my engine will shut itself off. Major safety issue and this car needs to be recalled. Happens even after taking it to the dealer “fixing” the “problem.” I’m not sure they even know the issue. They just try replacing things for a short term fix yet still having issues long term.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 MPH uphill and making a turn, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and was hesitating as if the transmission was in neutral. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that as the vehicle started rolling backward, she depressed the accelerator pedal and was able to move forward and made the turn. The contact continued to drive; however, the failure reoccurred while driving and the vehicle was making abnormal sounds. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who test drove the vehicle and diagnosed that the transmission had shifted into fifth gear and would not shift out of fifth gear. The independent mechanic diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to the residence. Then, the vehicle was towed to another mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V362000 (Power Train) and to take the vehicle to the dealer for a recall repair. When my fuel tank is filled the vehicle won't start and while driving the vehicle will stall out. The code on the check engine light comes back as P1450. This is telling me the canister purge valve needs replaced. After researching online I see this is a common problem for the 2013 Ford Fusion.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the warning message “Engine Coolant Low – Service Required” and the temperature warning light illuminated, and the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The contact veered to the side of the road. 2013 Ford Fusion 1.6 car system started to read low coolant level while driving parked. Checked level it was filled just fine. Cut car back on same thing then over temp. Code came up as well, turned car off checked under the hood fluids all over the front end. My car was fixed in 2019 for recall 17s09 for engine coolant problems that caused this before as well as 5 other recalls
Lug nuts on wheels are swollen and cannot be removed with the wrench provided with the vehicle. This prevented me from being able to remove my flat tire and install the spare. I was forced to drive the car with the deflated tire to a mechanic in order to get it forcefully removed. This represented a dangerous situation
Our transmission thinks the car is always in drive. It won’t start, and shifts very roughly. There was a recall for this, but not sure why our specific vehicle wasn’t included.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while his wife was driving 70 MPH, a warning message indicating power steering failure was displayed. The contact's wife veered to the side the road and attempted to activate the hazard lights however, the hazard lights were inoperable. The contact met his wife on the side of the road and towed the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering gear control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon parking his vehicle in his driveway, the contact placed the gear shifter into the park however, the dashboard read that the vehicle was in neutral. As the contact exited the vehicle, the vehicle began to roll backwards without warning. The contact immediately re-entered the vehicle and forcefully applied the brakes and activated the parking brake. Since the failure, the contact had been unable to drive the vehicle as the gear shifter remained stuck in park as the dashboard continued to read that the vehicle was in neutral. The contact had notified both the dealer and the manufacturer of the failure and both informed him that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V471000 (Power Train) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.
The steering wheel attachment bolt has not maintained torque. As a result, the steering wheel has loosened over time. I fear the steering wheel may separate from the steering column shaft, increasing the risk of a crash while driving.
I experienced a brake hose rupture on this 2013 Ford Fusion. This caused a gradual loss of braking power down to none, and fortunately the incident occurred at low speed without collision or injury. I understand that NHSTA has an open recall query on this possible issue: https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2022/08/nhtsa-opens-brake-hose-query-could-result-in-recall-of-1-7m-ford-vehicles/ Christian Brothers automotive in Sun Prairie, WI serviced the vehicle following the incident, and may have more details relevant to your inquiry in their records.
Had been shopping all day, with no indication of a problem. Stopped to gas up vehicle and put the gear shifter in park, then removed the key (No warning or indicator there was a problem). Before exiting the vehicle, when releasing the brake pedal, the car started to roll forward. Brake pedal was immediately pressed again, before possibly colliding with another vehicle parked in front of my vehicle. I put the key back into the ignition to attempt to start the vehicle and it would not start. I looked at the gear indicator and it stated the car was in reverse, but the shifter was in park. Gear shifter override did not change the indicator on the dash either. Vehicle was able to roll forward and backward with gravity or pushing. I kept on the emergency brake and upon inspection of the engine compartment by the mechanic with the tow company, it was discovered that the gear shift cable had disconnected. Reconnection was attempted, but it would not stay connected. There is a current recall for this exact problem, but my VIN number was not included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the power steering failed to operate as designed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
While driving on the interstate, the power steering on the car suddenly stopped working and has not come on since. This was a major issue as I was driving 80 mph on the interstate and had trouble steering after it gave out. After taking this to the Ford Dealership I was told that it would be a $3,100 fix. There were not any warning signs before this event and the car had been in perfect condition.
Vehicle sporadically (more so on cool/cold mornings) receives an error light on the dash indicating problem with power steering/traction control and hill assist. When this occurs, vehicle loses power steering. Very dangerous if unexpected and traveling at higher speeds. Ford is aware of this problem and has issued TSBs. Does there have to be fatalities and law suits before something is done? Consumer should not have to pay $2200+ to repair a problem occurring across multiple vehicle years and models.
Car consistently tries to pop the trunk while driving while also unlocking and locking doors. The seat always goes back to a default position. Does it so much I had to unplug the trunk actuator because it wouldn’t even let me drive off without opening the trunk. Lights flicker all weird when it does it. It does this idling and driving all the time. I can’t use photos to describe but I do have a video but your platform won’t let me upload videos.
My car doesn't start after getting gas, it stalls while driving (which is very scary), feels like it's not getting enough gas at times and then will jump forward like it got too much gas at times. I took it to get it tested and was told it's the purge valve. This has been recalled in older models of the Fusion, as well as the Ford Focus. I have the same issue, but the 2013 isn't included in the recall. It needs to be covered under the recall because I'm sure my vehicle is not the only one. It's a huge issue, as it's not safe to drive.
I was driving my car and my power steering assist fault came on and the steering wheel locked up. If I would have been turning at the time I would have wrecked. The vehicle had to be towed to the Ford dealership. Since I have on the car the light has came on a couple times but immediately turns off. It is at the dealership where they are telling me it is $2400 to fix.

The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the emergency units. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was deemed a total loss. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist due to the severity of the fire. The manufacturer stated that the failure was not related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V551000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
Last night when I got in my car to come home from work. When I turned on my car I got this message "Steering Locked Pull Over Safely". My Mother researched what would cause that to come up. One of the problems that she found was low tire pressure. She went around and checked all the tires and they where inflated to the right PSI. She even made sure that there was no screws or nails that would cause then to go flat. She also hooked up the ODB-2 Scanner to the car to make sure that it wasn't what was causing the issue. There wasn't any codes that popped up. We unhooked the battery and left it unhooked about 30 minutes that didn't correct the issue either. When she called the Ford dealer by our house they told me it would cost me around $2000.00 To fix the issue. What should i do about this issue since i don't have that kind of money to fix this problem?
Transmission made noise and stopped running. Need replacement at a cost of $8,000.00.
While on vacation in NW Ohio my power assist failure light came on and I lost my power steering. It was terribly hard to turn and scared me. My sister looked up to see if there were recalls on my 2013 Ford Fusion SE for this problem as we were together and found 17 recalls and over 1500 complaints for this same car year and problem but my VIN was not listed. My VIN needs to be included and I should be reimbursed. This malfunction happened on Sat afternoon July 17, 2021. I got my car into Taylor Kia dealership on Monday on July 19, 2021. My friend is the Sales Mgr. there and got my car in and gave me a loaner to use. they checked for recalls too but none found. It had to be fixed so I told the service dept to go ahead. While the car was there when I had to return home I had them put my back brakes and rotors on and 2 filters I needed. The first assembly parts were damaged and had to reorder. That came in Monday July 26 and repairs were made and finished July 27. I wasn't able to get back up until Friday to exchange the loaner for my car. I had them bag up the bad rack and pinion and brought it home in case you or Ford need it to validate this power steering failure for recall.
Power sreering failure. No warning. Just randomly occurs. Steering wheel locks up and driver in unable to steer the car. HUGE safety issue! Seems ti be a common problem after researching the Internet.
The mechanism and cable to unlatch the hood corroded to the point that the hood to the car was unable to be opened. This could be a hazard in the event oil needed or antifreeze needed to be added to prevent engine damage. Or if the hood were to somehow become ajar, it could potentially cause the hood to open up while driving, creating a visual obstruction and increasing the risk for a motor vehicle crash.
Power steering was lost. Fuse and belt is still okay.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The power steering went out as I was driving my car. I got an alert of 'power assist fault' and 'service advance track' when driving in the rain. The vehicle became very hard to turn which put me at risk of crashing. This has been a widespread problem with 2013 Ford Fusions and many have been recalled. My VIN number was not included in the recall. This happened a few months after purchasing my car brand new as well. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer. There were no warning signs before this.
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND VEHICLE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING, BUT TRANSMISSION QUIT PULLING (FLEXPLATE HAD FRACTURED AND BROKEN). VEHICLE COULD NOT ACCELERATE OUT OF TRAFFIC. I AM AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP IN CRESTWOOD. KY AND HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE TWICE IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS IN VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION COMBINATION. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS AN AWD FORD 2015 EDGE. I'M SURE THIS IS AND WILL BE A MAJOR ISSUE.
I have had a few incidents where my car displays "power steering assist fault" and the steering gets tight and my car will just stop running. This has occurred multiple times since I purchased my vehicle last summer. One time it occurred on the Turnpike while going at a speed of approximately 70mph and it has also occurred just after I had turned my car on to back out of the driveway. It has also occurred while going 25 in town. Luckily every time I was able to pull over safely each time. I took the car to a dealer just a few weeks ago but they looked at it one day and could not duplicate the problem. It happens randomly so just my luck it did not occur when someone was inspecting it.

Power Steering went out, jerked steering wheel. Vehicle no longer has steering. My VIN is not part of the recall like other models. Vehicle is now a lawn ornament.
The transmission shifter was in the “Park” position, but my dashboard highlighted the “Reverse” position. Using the Shift-Brake Interlock, I attempted to remedy the problem and now my dashboard reads in the “Sport” position while the shifter can move freely. Luckily I had just gotten off work and parked in my spot at home. No injuries or damage other than the aforementioned transmission issue.

WHILE COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY MY HILL START ASSIST, ADVANCED TRACT, AND STEERING FAILED. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. ALSO, THE LINKAGE FOR THE SHIFTER KEEPS COMING UNDONE.
The car would stop after the warning of over heating so the car would just shut down go into what is called limp mode was told that is to protect the engine so we was told that in order for them to check we first had to purchase ford parts to get it started which we did but about 30days later same problem took it back they charged me another fee to put on the diagnostic machine which we did. That still didn't take care of the problem this went on from April 2021 well in May received a recall for the coolant system on this car make and model made appt took it in well they failed at fixing this with the car having to be left there weeks at a time it is still there they couldn't repair it they now are saying it is the engine do we want it repaired I don't no how when they can't even fix what it was there for now all of a sudden it's on me and the agent that called first said the transmission they have no clue they are just trying not to be responsible for this car even towing company knows where to take the car I have been put down all over town. This has been a nightmare I am afraid of the car and no trust with the people that's fixing the recall because they don't know how.

Dealer diagnosed the issue as a failed electric power steering rack but claimed the issue was not covered by recalls. These two Ford recalls appear to describe the exact scenario: 19S26 (19V-632) & 15S14 (15V-250)
