TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALMOST EVERY TWO TO THREE DAYS, THE BATTERY FAILED TO KEEP ITS CHARGE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVEN OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE BATTERY WAS RECHARGED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER TWO TO THREE DAYS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE VEHICLE STARTS RUNNING ROUGH, STEERING BECOMES LOOSE, THE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON WITH THE MESSAGE 'CHECK OWNERS MANUAL', THEN THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE AT LOW SPEED ~35 MPH AND ONCE AT HIGH SPEED ~70 MPH. WE HAVE HAD IT IN THE FORD DEALER TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID THERE WAS NO CODE SO THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PCM WITH A RECALL 16B32. I WILL DROP IT OFF THIS MORNING FOR THE 3RD TIME.
WHILE TRAVELING ON BUSINESS MY 2016 FORD FUSION FLEET VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGAN VIBRATING. THE GAS PEDAL COULD BE PRESSED BUT HAD NO AFFECT AS IF IT HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED AND AN ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED STATING SEE MANUAL. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MILES AN HOUR AT THE TIME (CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AND HAD BEEN AT THIS SPEED FOR SOME TIME, NO RECENT ACCELERATION HAD OCCURRED). WHEN IT HAPPENED I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH NO SHOULDER. I WENT TO TAP THE BRAKE TO SEE IF IT WAS STILL FUNCTIONING AND WHEN I REACHED FOR IT WITH MY FOOT IT WAS ALREADY PARTIALLY DEPRESSED AND WHEN I TAPPED IT THE CAR FELT LIKE THE BRAKES HAD LOCKED OR WERE FOR SOME REASON EXTREMELY SENSITIVE CAUSING ME TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT SINCE PEOPLE WERE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. AFTER THAT HAPPENED I DECIDED I HAD NO OTHER OPTION AND MOVED OFF TO THE RIGHT BETWEEN THE CONES AND BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP THE VIBRATING INTENSIFIED BRIEFLY BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF. I WAITED 5 OR 10 SECONDS AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT SEEMED TO WORK FINE. I COMPLETED THE REMAINING 60-70 MILES OF MY DRIVE AND HAVE MADE A FEW 50-100 MILE TRIPS SINCE WITHOUT IT OCCURRING AGAIN SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE THING UNTIL I GOT AN EMAIL FROM THE FLEET COMPANY STATING THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, I AM SCHEDULED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR NOW. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 12,000 MILES.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FUSION THAT I PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. IT HAS LOST POWER FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST THREE DAYS THAT I HAVE DRIVEN IT, TWICE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC HEADING TO AND FROM DALLAS FOR WORK. A WRENCH WILL SHOW UP ON THE DASHBOARD, A MESSAGE SAYING "SEE MANUAL" WILL POP UP, AND THE VEHICLE FAILS TO ACCELERATE. I CANNOT PULL THE VEHICLE OVER OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS THIS PAST MONDAY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A NEW THROTTLE BODY AND THAT THE CAR WOULD BE FINE AFTERWARDS. ON MY WAY HOME YESTERDAY, DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A BUSY FOUR LANE HIGHWAY WORK NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON BECAUSE OF CONSTRICTION, MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON AND MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED ANOTHER PART AND ONCE AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. MY ISSUE IS NOT WITH THE DEALERSHIP, IT IS WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM TWICE REGARDING MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALLBACK. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW. THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD, BUT THERE HAS YET TO BE A RECALL. DO I HAVE TO DIE IN MY VEHICLE ON 35E IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? I'M AFRAID TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AS IT PUTS MY FAMILY'S AND MY LIFE IN IMMINENT AND SUBSTANTIAL DANGER. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS I ISSUE. I CAN'T CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. THE ENGINE AND CAR STARTED SHAKING AND THE ENGINE IDLED BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN 1000 AND 2500 RPM'S. A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN "SEE MANUAL". THE CAR HAD NO ACCELERATION AT ALL AND I HAD TO COAST THROUGH SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. ALL ELECTRICAL REMAINED WORKING. JUST NO ENGINE POWER AT ALL. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP, IT STRUGGLED TO START AT FIRST. WHILE DRIVING TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED TWICE MORE. DURING NORMAL DRIVING. NO INTENSE ACCELERATION. CRUISING TRAFFIC AT AROUND 65 MPH. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO LOOSE ALL ACCELERATOR POWER IN THE MIDDLE OFT OF A 5 LANE HIGHWAY. I HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS TRYING TO DRIFT ACROSS LANES OF TRAFFIC AS I DID NOT WANT TO USE THE BREAK AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I WAS VERY AFRAID THERE WOULD BE A CRASH. SEVERAL OF MY COWORKERS THAT HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE HAD VERY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THEIR VEHICLES. DRIVING AND SUDDEN POWER LOSS. LUCKILY NO INJURIES OR CRASHES TO DATE. APPARENTLY THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE THROTTLE BODY BUT OUR FLEET COMPANY ELEMENT NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, NOR PASSED THAT ONTO US.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2016 FORD FUSION WITH APPROX 10,000 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE I LOST POWER , I HAD TO COAST THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY NARROWLY AVOIDING AN ACCIDENT. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND EXITED THE FREEWAY, ABOUT 3 OR 4 MILES LATER IT RE-OCCURRED.WRENCH LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. FORDS HEALTH CHECK APP REPORTED 'URGENT SERVICE REQUIRED'. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER.
THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS GROWN. I HAVE DOCUMENTED PROOF THAT DATES BACK TO MARCH 2016. THIS ISSUE IS AN ESCALATION OF OLD PROBLEM THAT FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IS AN ISSUE. I SAY THIS BECAUSE THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. ON 9/03/2016, I WAS DRIVING ON WEST GEORGIA RD IN SIMPONVILLE SC WHEN ALL IF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKED. THEN A WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER. LUCKILY, NO CAR WAS TRAILING BEHIND US OR I'M SURE IT WOULD HAVE RAN INTO THE BACK OF US. I SAY THIS BECAUSE MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL SO A CAR BEHIND ME WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN TO SLOW DOWN TIL TOO LATE. I HAD JUST TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE WEEK BEFOR FOR A SECOND TIME DUE TO CAR STALLING RIGHT AFTER A TAKE OFF FROM A STOP. EACH TIME TO BE TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BE TURNED OFF. EACH TIME SERVICE PERSON SAYS BRING IT BACK IF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTS BLINKING OR HAS A RED DOT BECAUSE SOMETHING THEN IS WRONG. AFTER THIS INCIDENT I MAKE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO FORD. A MANAGER CALLS ME AND I RETURN HER CALL. SHE ASKS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND I TELL HER. I ALSO TELL HER FORD HAD AN ISSUE. IT'S DANGEROUS TO DRIVE A CAR THAT AT ANYTIME MAY LOSE ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I PRAY THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO MY FAMILY. I BOUGHT THIS CAR AFTER RESEARCHING IT WAS JUST AS GOOD AS A TOYOTA OR HONDA. SHE SUGGESTS I TAKE IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WHICH I SAY I ALREADY HAVE PLANS TO. BUT SHE ALSO SAY TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME TO GIVE POINTERS ON HOW TO DRIVE TO AVOID THE STALLS. MY EXPERIENCE WAS NOT A STALL. IT WAS A LIST OF POWER WHILE DRIVING A CAR I PURCHASED NEW LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. THE 2ND DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. IT CAN BE REPAIRED BUT APPOINTMENT NOT TIL 21ST. PLUS NO LOANER CAR. I HAVE TO WORK TO LIVE AND PAR FOR THAT CAR. FORD NEEDS A RECALL BEFORE THERE'S A DEATH.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND CITY STREETS, THE CAR LOSES POWER WITH A WRENCH DISPLAY REFERRING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE ISSUE INVOLVES THE AWD CLUTCH AND OCCURRS WITH NO WARNING CAUSING AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITION THAT CAN RESULT IN IMMEDIATE INJURY OR DEATH DEPENDING ON THE DRIVER'S REACTION AND TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. THE CAR HAS NO POWER BUT THE DRIVER STILL IS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE WHILE THE ENGINE HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE AND AIR BAG WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, SHOOK, AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,700.
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY LEAVING ME WITH NO CONTROL OF MY ACCELERATION. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME AND HAD TO GET THROUGH THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC IN EFFORTS TO PULL OVER. VERY SCARY SITUATION.
MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE FUSION ATTEMPTING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY RAMP (ROUTE 22 IN SPRINGFIELD NJ) TO GO DORM SHOPPING FOR SCHOOL. UPON ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING ON THE RAMP THE VEHICLE STALLED AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATION WHILE PRESSING DOWN IN THE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE BEHIND HER BEGAN TO ACCELERATE; THE FUSION THEN LOST ALL POWER, THE VEHICLE STUCK HER IN THE REAR AND PUSHED MY DAUGHTERS FUSION INTO AN ACTIVE LANE WITH TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT 55 MPH AND UP. THERE WAS MINOR AESTHETIC DAMAGE TO THE FUSION. BUT THAT IS NOT MY CONCERN IN THE LEAST! THE FUSION WAS STUCK ON AN ACTIVE HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY, MY DAUGHTER COULD OR SHOULD HAVE EASILY BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED! THIS IS THE DEMARCATION OF A NEAR MISS! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE 'WRENCH ICON' THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER. THEN THERE ARE 100'S OF ARTICLES PERTAINING TO INJURIES AND FATALITIES DUE FAULTY THROTTLE BODIES! FORD SALES FAILED TO MENTION THAT DURING THE SALE! I STOPPED AT FORD SERVICE THIS MORNING TO ADVISE THEM OF THE DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED 'AH YEAH GOTTA BE THE THROTTLE BODY' 'HAPPENS ALL THE TIME' 'THERE WAS A BAD BATCH'!
THE CAR DIES IN DRIVE AND IN PARK AND REVERSE AND WON'T LET YOU PUT IT IN GEAR, WE HAVE IT ON VIDEO AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS BUT WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND DOES NOT KEEP A CODE. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE IT WON'T KEEP THE CODE. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN , 6,000 MILES ON IT AND WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. WE FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IT SEEMS LIKE WE ARE GETTING THE RUN AROUND. IJTS HAPPENED ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS IT STARTED IN JULY THEN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.
THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY HAS RATED "MARGINAL" THE HEADLIGHT EFFECTIVENESS FOR THE 2016 FORD FUSION. I THINK FORD SHOULD REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN EXPENSIVE PROPOSITION.
2016 FORD FUSION, 2.5L ENGINE, 10,500 MILES. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A TWO LANE ROAD, CONSTANT SPEED, 55MPH, I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER FOLLOWED BY THE ENGINE STALLING. ALTHOUGH THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT TURNED ON, I CYCLED THE IGNITION AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN, ALTHOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. AFTER STOPPING FOR A BRIEF PERIOD, I CONTINUED ON MY JOURNEY HOME ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY INTO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, I ONCE AGAIN EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER FOLLOWED BY STALLING OF THE ENGINE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I RECYCLED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT I COULD DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT STALLING ONLY BY PUSHING THE THROTTLE VERY LIGHTLY. I GOT THE CAR HOME AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY USING VERY LIGHT THROTTLE APPLICATION. DEALER VERIFIED ISSUE AND REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY: "VERIFIED STALLING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IDS RETRIEVE CODE P2112, PERFORMED PPT DV, REPLACED THROTTLE BODY PER PPT. CLEARED CODE AND RETEST. SYSTEM PASSED"
THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ONLY AFTER 13,500 MILES, PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS BRAND NEW AND IS ONLY 9 MONTHS OLD. THE VEHICLE DIED MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE GOT ME IN A SERIOUS WRECK. THE FORD TECH SAID THEY ARE REPLACING HUNDREDS OF THESE YET I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF IT BEING A POSSIBLE ISSUE THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50MPH, MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER AND WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED. (NEW CAR PURCHASED 11/2015) DASHBOARD STATED TO SEE MANUAL WHICH IN TURN TOLD ME THAT IT IS A POWERTRAIN FAILURE AND TO SEE A DEALER. ENGINE, A/C AND RADIO ALL SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE AND AS I CAME TO A STOP THE CAR RAN ROUGH AT IDLE AND HAD VERY LITTLE POWER. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, THE CAR WAS BACK TO NORMAL AND NO MORE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. THIS WAS VERY ODD CONSIDERING I ONLY HAD 14K MILES ON IT. THIS HAPPENED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN ONE WEEK. TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER AND I TOLD THEM AFTER RESEARCHING AND SEEING ALL THESE COMMON OCCURRENCES, IT APPEARS THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY IS FAILING. THE TECH SAID HE HAS HEARD ABOUT THE ISSUE ON OLDER MODELS AND NOT THE 2016 BUT IT WAS FAMILIAR TO HIM. AFTER RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS, IT WAS IN FACT THE ETB AND FORD REPLACED IT AT NO CHARGE. THIS ISSUE DOES SEEM TO BE VERY PREVALENT AND I AM CURIOUS IF FORD IS SIMPLY REPLACING THE ETB WITH AN NEW... OR ARE THEY MAKING AN UPDATED/UPGRADED VERSION? I REALLY HOPE THAT THEY DO RE-MANUFACTURE A BETTER ETB A SI HOPE IT DOESN'T FAIL AGAIN SO SOON IN ANOTHER 14K MILES...
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK MY 2016 FORD FUSION I HAD JUST PURCHASED IN JANUARY 2016 CAM TO A JERKY STALL-OUT HEADING TOWARDS A STOP LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE FUSION AND BARLEY MAKE IT INTO A SMALL PARKING LOT. THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED THE TOW-TRUCK, BECAUSE OBLIVIOUSLY THE 2016 FUSION PURCHASED IN JAN WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE! TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS A "THROTTLE BODY" INTERNAL FAILURE AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND RE-CALIBRATED THE NEW ONE... DID SOME RESEARCH AND THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE FUSION-LINE! SO WHY IS THERE NO RECALL THIS COULD KILL SOMEONE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY! SO MY QUESTION IS... IS THE NEW THROTTLE BODY THEY PLACED IN MY FUSION ACTUALLY FIXING THE [XXX] PROBLEM OR ARE THEY KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE [XXX] ROAD? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND STALLED. THE WRENCH WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,900.

THE SPECIFIC VISUAL WAS AN ENGINE LIGHT THAT LOOKED LIKE A SUBMARINE IT WAS NOT A WRENCH - WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO GALPIN FORD, WHERE I PURCHASED IT, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE A WEEK OR MORE BECAUSE OF A 2-STEP PROCESS TO DIAGNOSE AND WERE BACKED UP. I ASKED FOR A LOANER. THEY SAID NO. I CALLED FORD CORPORATE IF THEY COULD BE OF ASSISTANCE( THEY KNEW OF ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL) THEY CLAIMED TO NEED A DIAGNOSIS I WENT HOME AND CALLED GALPIN & FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY AT AROUND 3:00PM I WAS ADVISED BY GALPIN THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED, IT WAS "JUST AS THEY THOUGHT"- A THROTTLE ISSUE .THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE DONE AN EEC TEST WITH CODE P2112 AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I ASKED WHAT OTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS WERE PERFORMED AND WAS SAD TP SEE ONLY A BASIC "REPORT CARD" -FLUID LEVELS AND TIRE /BRAKE WEAR - WHEN DRIVING THE CAR HOME, IT WAS NOT PERFORMING THE SAME- NOT FLUID - A STRONG FLOOR VIBRATION NEAR THE ACCELERATOR, AND DRIVING VERY ROUGH. I CALLED GALPIN TO COMPLAIN INTEND TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THEM OR TO ANOTHER AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER I SPEAK TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE THOROUGHLY INSPECTED BECAUSE I AM NOT CONVINCED THEY DID A THOROUGH INSPECTION BUT ASSUMED BECAUSE OF PRIOR THROTTLE PROBLEMS, THAT WAS THE ISSUE. THE THROTTLE BECOMES COMPLETELY NON FUCTIONING AND VEHICLE LOSES ABILITY TO ACCEALERATE AND STARTS SHAKING. MUST PULL OVER TO TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART FOR TO RESUME NORMAL FUNCTIONING. HAPPENED MINIMUM 6 TIMES IN THE COURSE OF 200 MILE TRIP.

AFTER AN HOUR AND A HALF WAITING I CHECKED THE STATUS OF THE TOW AND WAS TOLD THE COMPANY CANCELLED AND DIDN'T TELL FORD SO IT WOULD BE ANOTHER HOUR FOR A NEW TOW. I DECIDED TO TRY THE CAR AGAIN AND TO MY SURPRISE THE CHECK LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE CAR WAS OPERATING AGAIN. I GOT TO THE DEALER AND THEY PULLED TWO CODES. P2111 AND P2112 ( THROTTLE BODY FAILURE ) I GOT THE IMPRESSION THEY WERE NOT SURPRISED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY THE NEXT DAY.

TURNED ENGINE OFF. DROVE A SHORT DISTANCE, THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER. FORD REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY & MOTOR ASSEMBLY UNDER WARRANTY.
THIS WAS A RENTAL OD 11433 MILES. DRIVING AT NIGHT I ACTIVATED THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL AND THE RIGHT HEAD LAMP BULB WENT OUT. I REPEATED THIS SIGNAL LEFT AND THE LEFT HEAD LAMP BULB WENT OUT. WHEN SIGNALING WAS COMPLETE THE HEAD LAMP CAME BACK ON. I COULD NOT LATCH THE HIGH BEAM BY THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER. IT HAD TO BE MANUALLY HELD. THESE SAME REPEATED ACTIONS WERE DONE WITH THE SAME RESULTS. ON AN UNTIL AREA A PERSON AT A CORNER MAY NOT HAVE BEEN VISIBLE? NIGHT TWO OF DRIVING THE RENTAL ALL WORKED AND FUNCTIONED PROPERLY AS DESIGNED. ALL TURN SIGNAL / HEAD LAMP BULB IN ADDITION TO ENGAGING AND DIS ENGAGING HIGH BEAMS.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH ICON APPEARED AFTER THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
RENTED A FORD FUSION WITH 3000 MILES. DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING IT LOST POWER AND STOPPED. AFTER A MINUTE, WE RESTARTED IT WITHOUT PROBLEM. DROVE IT TO A NEARBY FORD DEALER WHO CHECKED THE CODE WHICH INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS DEFECTIVE ELECTRONICS THAT CONTROLLED THE THROTTLE. APPARENTLY THE ENGINE WAS GETTING TOO MUCH AIR AND NOT ENOUGH GAS CAUSING IT TO SHUT DOWN. PERHAPS THIS WAS A PROBLEM SPECIFIC TO THIS CAR, PERHAPS NOT. BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES OF A CAR STOPPING UNEXPECTADLY ON A HIGHWAY WE THOUGHT WE SHOULD REPORT IT. WE DID NOTIFY THE RENTAL COMPANY (BUDGET IN MILWAUKE WI) OF THE PROBLEM. THE EMPLOYEE SAID HE HAD HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. IT WAS NOT CLEAR TO US IF HE MEANT ON CARS IN GENERAL OR ON THIS TYPE OF CAR.

THE LAST TIME (3RD TIME) I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE SHOP TOLD ME THIS IS THE 5TH OR 6TH 2016 FORD CAR (FUSION, FIESTA OR FOCUS) THIS MONTH WITH THE SAME ISSUE. 2ND FUSION AND THE ONE PRIOR TO MINE HAD 400 MILES ON IT! THINKS IT'S EITHER THE THROTTLE BODY OR THE THROTTLE BODY POSITIONING SENSOR. HAS THROWN CODES P2111 AND P2112. (ONE MEANS FLAP IS OPEN, ONE MEANS FLAP IS CLOSED) IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS AND I HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD I'M LOOKING AT ANOTHER 6 AT A MINIMUM. (THIS IS NOT THE SHOP'S FAULT IN MY OPINION AS THEY HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT NICE AND CONSIDERATE TO ME) DON'T KNOW WHAT THE DEAL IS BUT SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT.

THE CAR IS FAIRLY NEW WITH A LITTLE OVER 10,000 MILES.

I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE AT 75 MPH, CLOSELY FOLLOWED BY A TRACTOR-TRAILER SEMI, AND WE WERE PASSING TWO OTHER TRACTOR-TRAILER SEMIS IN THE ADJACENT LANE. OTHER CARS WERE IN THE VICINITY. SUDDENLY I NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD BECOME UNRESPONSIVE AND THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN. ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT IN THE SHAPE OF A WRENCH. MY VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN RAPIDLY AND THE ADJACENT VEHICLES HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING. HORNS WERE BLOWING; LIGHTS WERE FLASHING; AND THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I COULD DO EXCEPT TO TRY TO SAFELY GET OUT OF EVERYONE'S WAY. THANKFULLY, I WAS SUCCESSFUL AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE MY CAR TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE REASON FOR THIS REPORT IS THAT IF I AND THE SURROUNDING DRIVERS HAD BEEN LESS CAPABLE AND LESS ATTENTIVE IN THIS EVENT, THERE COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN A HUGE CRASH AND AT LEAST TWO FATALITIES, AND NO ONE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THE ACTUAL REASON FOR THE EVENT. ENTERPRISE PROVIDED A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE TO US AND WE CONTINUED OUR TRIP. LATER IN THE TRIP, I STOPPED AGAIN AT CRONIN FORD TO LEARN WHAT PROBLEM HAD BEEN FOUND. THEIR DIAGNOSIS LED TO REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE THROTTLE BODY (PART NUMBER DS7Z 9E926 D). A COPY OF THEIR WORK ORDER IS ATTACHED.

I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED THE CAR. IT TURNED ON. I CONTINUED DRIVING ABOUT 300 MILES AFTER THIS INCIDENT. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO MADISON FORD IN OHIO TO BE LOOKED AT. THEY COULDNT FIND ANY CODES. THEY SENT ME HOME WITH THE CAR. THEY CALLED ME BACK ON TUES AND SAID BRING THE CAR BACK . THIS TIME THEY FOUND 6 CODES. BUT TO MY KNOWLEDGE NOTHING STATING THE PROBLEM. THEY DROVE THE CAR 60 MILES OR SO AND SAID THE CAR WAS FINE. I CALLED CLASSIC FORD IN MENTOR OH AND TALKED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND INFORMED HIM I WAS BRINGING THE CAR THERE TO BE SERVICED. THE ADVISOR SAID HE WOULDNT BE WORKING 4/29 AND HE WOULD INFORM THE SERVICE MGR OF THE PROBLEM. ICALLED FRIDAY AND SPOKE TO MARK THE MGR. HE SAID HE TALKED TO THE PEOPLE AT MADISON FORD . HE TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN MONDAY MAY 2 BUT WE ARE GOING TO DO THE SAME THING AND IF WE CANT FIND ANYTHING THEN THERES NOTHING WE CAN DO FOR YOU. WELL I ASKED HIM IF MADISON TOLD HIM THE CAR SHUT DOWN GOING DOWN A HILL AND HIS REPLY WAS UH NO. TODAY MAY 1 I STARTED THE CAR AND LET IT RUN FOR 3 MINS AND WITH MY WIFE IN THE CAR PULLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. NO CHECK ENGINE WARNING OR ANYTHING. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT MY WIFE SAID I WOULDVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE I WOULDNT HAVE KNOWN TO DO WHAT YOU DID. THESE ARE SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING ISSUES AND MY WIFE AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY TELL ME THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR.
LAST WEEK MY CAR ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHEN I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND IDLE ABOUT TO TURN ONTO ROAD. THIS HAPPENED TWICE SO I TOOK MY CAR WHERE I PURCHASED AT RYAN FORD SEALY AND THEY HAD IT 4/6-12/2016. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING BECAUSE NO CODES OR LIGHT CAME UP. RAN VEHICLE HEALTH CHECK AND NOTHING. ACTED FINE YESTERDAY. TODAY GOING RIGHT UNDER 30 MPG AND AT THE STOP SIGN IT SHOOK BAD AND LIGHTS CAME ON. ENGINE STAYED ON BUT COULD NOT MOVE. WAITED 15 MINUTES AND LIMPED TO MY HOUSE AND HAD TOW TRUCK TAKE IT BACK TO RYAN FORD. DETERMINED AND REPLACED THROTTLE BODY.
I WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND CAME TO A 2 WAY STOP GOING WEST BOUND. I SAW A VEHICLE APPROACHING GOING WEST BOUND. I MADE A LEFT TURN. THE OTHER VEHICLE RAN THROUGH THE STOP SIGN MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND HIT MY VEHICLE; THEN SPED AWAY. THE OTHER CAR WAS A DARK OLDER MEDIUM SIZE SUV. THE SUV FRONT DRIVER SIDE HIT THE PASSENGER SIDE CENTER BEAM BETWEEN THE FRONT AND BACK SEAT, DAMAGED BOTH DOORS, BROKE THE BACK SEAT WINDOW, AND CAUSED THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE TO GO FLAT. THE IMPACT PUSHED MY CAR ABOUT 30 FEET UP AND OVER A 4 INCH HIGH SIDEWALK CURB AND ANOTHER 10 FEET INTO A NEIGHBOR'S YARD. THE CAR TOOK THE SIDE IMPACT REMARKABLY WELL BUT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
INSERTING KEY INTO IGNITION FUEL PUMP WOULD KICK ON OCCASIONALLY, THE DOORS WOULDN'T ALWAYS UNLOCK UPON SHUTTING CAR OFF, DASH AND RADIO DELAYED COMING ON AT TIMES UPON STARTING, UNLOCKING DOORS WITH KEY FOB THERE WOULD BE STATIC COMING FROM BACK SPEAKERS, KEYLESS ENTRY WOULD UNLOCK BUT NOT ALWAYS RELOCK, A FEW TIMES THE KEY WOULDN'T START CAR THERE WOULD BE NO REACTION AT TURNING OVER, DASH WOULD LIGHT UP AT TIMES WHEN NO KEY WAS IN IGNITION AND CAR LOCKED, HEATER WOULD BLOW HOT AIR THEN TURN TO COLD AS IF A/C WAS ON, ONE DAY BATTERY WAS DEAD AND HAD TO JUMP IT NOTHING WAS LEFT ON AND CAR WAS LOCKED.
THE STEERING ASSIST, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, HAD A "FAULT" AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START/CRANK. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED THE STEERING WAS STRANGE, IT WAS LIKE THERE WERE STRING WINDS WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR WOULD SWAY SIDE TO SIDE.
AS SKIMMING THROUGH OTHER COMPLAINTS, I SEE I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WITH A BAD THROTTLE BODY ISSUE ! MY INFANT WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND LUCKILY MY BOYFRIEND WAS IN FRONT OF ME! IT DIED 3 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY BEFORE WE GOT TO THE NEXT TOWN TO HIS WORK - LUCKILY HE ALSO HAD THE INFANT CAR SEAT ! I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND BORROW HIS 2010 FUSION FOR 2 DAYS UNTIL MY CAR WAS FIXED. ANOTHER ANNOYING ISSUE IS WHENEVER MY IPONE HAS AN UPDATE I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE SYNC REINSTALLED ! I BOUGHT THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE SYNC (UPGRADED FROM A G6 WITH NO EXTRA OPTIONS). I TRAVEL 30,000+ MILES A YEAR AND EXPECT A NEW CAR TO WORK - IF I WANTED A TERRIBLE CAR I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ANOTHER GM VEHICLE...
ABS LIGHTS, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS, THROTTLE BODY CONTROL LIGHTS, AIR BAG LIGHTS, EMERGENCY BREAK LIGHTS, REAR RIGHT BREAK LIGHTS ALL COME ON MY DASH, IT IS AT RANDOM TIMES, FIRST STARTING THE CAR UP, DRIVING IT FOR 2 MINUTES OR EVEN UP TO 10-12 MINUTES. SPEED, WEATHER OR MAKING A TURN OR JUST GOING STRAIGHT DOES NOT MATTER. WARNING LIGHTS CAN GO OFF EVERY DAY MULTIPLE TIMES OR AS LTTLE AS ONCE A WEEK. YOU CAN FEEL THE STREETING GET VERY TIGHT, ITS HARD TO EVEN MAKE A TURN WHICH IS NOT VERY SAFE. HAD MY VEHILCE IN THE SHOP FOR 25 DAYS STRAIGHT. WAS TOLD THE ISSUES WERE FIXED AND WITHINT 7 HOURS OF PICKING MY CAR UP ALL THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON.
2016 FORD FUSION RECEIVED FROM DEALER ON DEC 2015. AT 39 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, FUSION WOULD NOT START, AND ALL ALARMS CAME ON (LOW TIRE PRESSURE, ENGINE OVERHEAT, PARKING BRAKE, PARKING SENSORS, ETC). CAR STARTED AFTER HITTING OK AND SEVERAL MORE CRANKS. FEB 2015 - AT ABOUT 2500 MILES, THE CAR WOULD NOT START FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THE THIRD TIME WAS AT 3000 MILES, ALL WITH THE SAME EXACT ALARM BEHAVIOR. THE FOURTH TIME OCCURRED ON MARCH 7, 2016 WITH 3200 MILES ON ODOMETER; THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND WHILE GOING 45MPH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THERE WAS NO ENGINE POWER, NO STEERING POWER, NO POWER BRAKES, NOTHING BUT ALARMS. I WAS FORTUNATE TO NOT BE IN AN ACCIDENT. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TAKEN THE CAR IN TWICE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO REPAIRS AND NO REPORTED DIAGNOSTIC CODES. FORD HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES WITH THE CAR IN THEIR POSSESSION, BUT THEY REFUSED TO CONDUCT LONG-TERM DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY WERE NOT ABLE TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT'S GOING INTO THE DEALER AND NOW IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CAR LOSES POWER WHILE IN OPERATION.
