DEALER CAN NOT IDENTIFY CAUSE. *AK CONSUMER ADDS ENGINE STALLS EASIER IF A/C IS ON, AND/OR WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. DEALER REPLACED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND MASS AIR FLOW, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXIST. ALSO CONSUMER IS A HEARING METALLIC TICKING NOISE ON COLD ENGINE. AIR BLADDER DEFLATES AFTER 1/2 HOUR. DEALER REPLACED SEAT AIR BLADDER. DRIVERS SIDE FRONT AND BACK WINDOW WILL NOT SEAL AFTER ROLLING UP AT TIMES. *TT
THE IAC ON MY NEW MUSTANG WENT BAD. AT FIRST FORD WOULDN'T COVER IT BUT THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 90 DAYS OLD. THE ONE THEY INSTALLED WENT BAD AFTER 10 DAYS ALSO AND SO DID THE FOLLOWING ONE AFTER 90 DAYS. THE LAST ONE WENT BAD JUST BEFORE THE WARRANTY WENT UP AND NOW I KEEP A SPARE AND CHANGE IT ABOUT ONE EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS. *TR
REAR ENDED - RESTRAINT PROVIDES NO WHIPLASH PROTECTION- I FEEL IT FAILS TO MEET FEDERAL REGULATIONS.*AK
CAR STALLS AFTER PUTTING IN THE CLUTCH OR SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL SOMETIMES. I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKES CAUSING ME TO MISS STOP SIGNS, CANNOT CORNER DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING ETC. FORD KNOWS IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH 1999 AND 2000 MUSTANG GT BUT HAS NO FIX AND IS TELLING THE DEALERS TO DO NOTHING!!!!! MY FAMILY'S AND MY LIFE ARE IN DANGER AND I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS SHOULD COME UNDER THE LEMON LAW. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERYTIME BUT THE CAR CANNOT FIND IT'S IDLE SPEED UNTIL THE CAR IS AT A DEAD STOP. SOMETIMES IT GOES TO 1000 RPM AND SOMETIMES AS LOW AS 400 RPM AT WHICH TIME IT STALLS. *AK

VEHICLE WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT AT SPEED OF 35 MPH. UPON IMPACT, BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGD DID NOT DEPLOY. IT WAS A HEAD-ON COLLISION. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJUIRES.PLEASE FILL ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
CAR WAS LEFT PARKED ON SLIGHT INCLINE WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED AND IN GEAR, WHEN SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR BEGAN ROLLING AND HIT SIGN POST.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS ON A SLIDE INCLINE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED, AND VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. OWNER WAS ABLE TO STOP VEHICLE FROM ROLLING, BUT NOT BEFORE IT HIT ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN DECEMBER OF 1999. DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IGNITION WAS NOT RUNNING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *AK
HAND BRAKE RELEASES ON ITS OWN WITHOUT WARNING. PARKED CAR TODAY ON SLIGHT INCLINE AND EXITED CAR (ENGINE NOT RUNNING), HEARD A LOUD BANG (BRAKE RELEASED) AND CAR STARTED TO ROLL AWAY. WIFE WAS IN CAR AND SUCCESSFULLY GOT HER LEG OVER CONSOLE AND APPLIED FOOT BRAKE (HAND BRAKE WOULD NOT ENGAGE).*AK
NHTSA ITEM # 620988 - I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM IN MY ORIGINAL NEW TRANSMISSION AND ALSO IN A FORD REBUILT TRANSMISSION INSTALLED BY RELIABLE MOTORS ON 12/03/02.*AK
VEHICHLE HAS HAD A VIBRATION SINCE IT WAS NEW. THE DEALER ASSURED ME THAT IT COULD BE REPAIRED. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE BACK TWICE. THE VIBRATION IS IN 3RD GEAR AND 5TH GEAR. THE VIBRATION IN 3RD GEAR IS FROM 2,000-3,000 RPMS. IN 5TH GEAR, IT IS FROM 1,200-2,100 RMPS. THE DRIVE SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED. WHEELS AND TIRES CHECKED OKAY. TIRES AND WHEELS BALANCED OKAY. THE DRIVESHAFT RUNOUT CHECKED. DRIVESHAFT ROTATE AND RECHECK RUNOUT. CHECKED AND REPLACED REAR AXLE. SHAFT ASSEMBLY REAR AXLE REPLACED. THE VIBRATION STILL PERSISTS. I'M CONSIDERING A BUY-BACK. I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE. COULD YOU ADVISE?*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES GEAR SKIPPED AND AND BRAKES BECAME LOOSE. NO BRAKING POWER. ALSO, CONSUMER WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH CAUSED DEFECTS IN THE ALARM.*AK
A FRONTAL COLLISION OF 15 OR MORE MPH; ESTIMATED $7,000 OF DAMAGES TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, AND BOTH AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. ALSO, PASSENGER SEAT BELT FAILED TO LOCK PROPERLY; MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHEN BRAKING WHILE MAKING A SHARP TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION, BRAKES WILL VIBRATE VIOLENTLY AND FAIL TO STOP THE CAR. WHEN REAPPLIED THE BRAKES OPERATE AS INTENDED. HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES AND I HAD THE DEALER LOOK INTO PROBLEM WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN SERVICE FOR AN UNRELATED PROBLEM. DEALER REPORTED THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. *AK
WHILE CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 65 MPH REAR AXLE BROKE AND BACK LEFT TIRE BROKE OFF. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS, FORD DENIED WARRANTY. *AK *ML
I AM 5' TALL. THE SHOULDER BELT CROSSES AT MY NECK AND THERE IS NO WAY TO REDESIGN THE SEAT BELT EQUIPMENT TO ACCOMODATE THE IMPROPER SHOULDER BELT FIT. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, APPLIED CLUTCH AND POWER WENT OUT. NO POWER STEERING/NO BRAKES. NO PRIOR WARNING. VEHICLE JUST STOPPED. VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP . MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT ANY SPEED, VEHICLE PULLS TO LEFT OR RIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER HAS REPLACED FRONT BRAKES AND TIRES, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.*AK THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD AN ALIGNMENT. CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT ALL MUSTANGS WITH 17 INCH WHEELS PULL WHEN BRAKING. *JG
CAR KILLS OUT FREQUENTLY WHEN TURNING; WHEN THE CAR STALLS OUT, THE WHEELS LOCK UP AND NEARLY CAUSE ACCIDENTS. THE STALLING BEGAN IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE PRUCHASED THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER, THEY STATED THERE HAD BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE MUSTANG GT'S KILLING OUT AROUND CORNERS. THEY HAVE NO FIX AT THIS POINT AND HAVE MADE NO CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY. I'VE NEARLY GOTTEN INTO A HAND FULL OF ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS "DEFECT". I'M RIDING AROUND IN A BRAND NEW CAR THAT I CONSIDER VERY UNSAFE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL STALL OUT AND LOCK UP. THE DEALER INITIALLY STATED THEY BELIEVED THE STALLS WERE CAUSED BY THE HOT WEATHER. WELL, IT'S NOW DECEMBER IN DENVER, CO AND IT'S QUITE COLD OUT AND THE CAR IS STILL KILLING OUT AROUND CORNERS. WITHIN THE LAST 3 MONTHS, THE PROBLEM IS OCCURING EVEN MORE FREQUENTLY. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AT TIME PROGRESSES. FORD HAS NOT OFFERED ME A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE UNTIL THEY CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE TO AND FROM WORK AND I PUT MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT. MY WARRANTY EXPIRES AT 36, 000 MILES AND I WILL BE LEFT TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT I'VE HAD SINCE DAY ONE OF MY PURCHASE. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 35 MPH, ANOTHER CAR COMING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION WAS MAKING A TURN AT ABOUT 20 MPH, AND HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HEAD-ON TOWARDS FRONT LEFT SIDE. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. *AK
CAR WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. MANUAL TRANSMISSION WAS IN GEAR AND PARKING BRAKE SET. DRIVEWAY IS APPROXIMATELY 30 DEGREE INCLINE. AUTO ROLLED ON ITS OWN APPROX 40 FT DOWN DRIVEWAY ANH HIT A TREE. FORD FAILED TO ACCEPT ANY DEFECT RESPONSIBILITY IN MAY. TODAY I READ THAT FORD IS RECALLING MUSTANG BRAKES AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPORTED INCIDENTS. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY RESPONSIBILITY.*AK

SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SEAT WOULD LOCK UP WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING, AT TIMES CONSUMER COULD NOT WEAR THE SEAT BELT AT ALL. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK THE SEAT BELT LOCKS UP AND STRANGLES CONSUMER. CONSUMER HAS A DOCTORS NOTE, SO HE DOESN'T HAVE TO WEAR THE SEAT BELT. THIS VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A NON WORKING EMERGENCY BRAKE THAT DOES NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. CONSUMERS VEHICLE NEEDS NEW ROTORS. *JG
WHILE DRIVING BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A HIGHWAY, THE TIRE SUDDENLY SHREDDED AND CAME OFF THE RIM AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. WHEN THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING, THE SALESMAN TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THAT HE KNEW OF THAT TIRE SUDDENLY COMING APART. WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP ANOTHER MUSTANG, WITH ONLY 500 MILES, EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING , AFTER NOTICING A BUBBLE IN THE TIRE. AFTER PARKING VEHICLE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD ROLLED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE.PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. CONSUMER DID RECEIVE RECALL NOTICE 00V349000 FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT ACCIDENT HAPPENED BEFORE APPOINTMENT. *AK
VEHICLE WAS LEAKING OIL FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. ALSO, CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65MPH AND LOOKED THOUGH REARVIEW MIRRIOR AND NOTICED BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 15 MPH, AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH, TRAVELING UNDER 25 MPH, THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S SIDE OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS. NOT SURE IF VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS PULLED BACK AND HAD NO SLACK. THE CONTACT ALSO HAD TO PULL THE SEAT BELT OUT TO ELIMINATE THE SLACK IN THE SEAT BELT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 99V250000, SEAT BELTS FRONT, ANCHORAGE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HAS DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, BUT THE DEALER HAS NEVER REPAIRED THE FAILURE. SUBSTANTIALLY LOUD SWIRLING, HISSING, GRINDING, WHINNING NOISES FROM THE TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, AND DRIVELINE (DRIVE SHAFT) AREA. FOUR (4) TIMES WITH SAME PROBLEM. VEHICLE WITH DEALER AS OF MAY 24, 2000 TILL PRESENT.
THERE IS ALOT OF HISSING, GRINDING AND WHINNING NOISES COMING FORM THE TRANSMISSION (2 HAVE BEEN REPLACED), CLUTCH ASSEMBLY AND DRIVELINE (DRIVESHAFT) AREA, DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED REPAIR 4 TIMES BUT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. NLM

REAR END MAKES A LOUD HOWLING NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE WIND NOISE. CAN ONLY HEAR IT WHEN COASTING BETWEEN 60 AND 35 MPH, ONLY IN 3.8 ENGINE VEHICLE. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BRAKE PROBLEMS. REPLACEMENT HAD TO BE MADE ON BOTH FRONT CALIPERS, AND BRAKE LINES DUE TO FLUID LEAKAGE. ALSO A LOUD RATTLING SOUND CAME FROM THE WHEELS AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE. *AK
VEHICLE ROLLED FROM DRIVEWAY INTO A POLE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUT OF GEAR WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. DEALER NOTIFIED. FORD DENIES ANY FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION. *AK *ML
PARKING BRAKE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL DOWN AND CRASH. YH
WHEN I COME TO COMPLETE STOPS, (E.G. @ A RED LIGHT) THE TACHOMETER SLOWLY RISES TO 3,000 - 3,500 RPM'S AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHAKES AND ROARS AS IF I AM ACCELERATING. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 35 TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL OCCURRENCE ON 12/19/1999. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE SINCE 02/29/1999. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS SIX TIME TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FOLLOWING ITEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED: AIR BYPASS VALVE, IAC (3 TIMES - THEY CLAIMED EACH ONE, INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL WAS FAULTY), ON BOARD COMPUTER. YET THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. FORD HAS FINALLY AGREED TO REACQUIRE MY VEHICLE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER 2000 MUSTANG GT OWNERS (ALL WITH VEHICLES BUILT IN 09/1999) THEY ALSO HAVE IDLE ISSUES. THE TWO I HAVE SPOKEN WITH HAVE A REVERSE PROBLEM. THEIRS IDLE SO LOW, THE VEHICLE STALLS. I THINK FORD SHOULD LOOK INTO THE GT'S THAT WERE BUILT EARLY IN THE MODEL YEAR. I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANYTHING WITH THE GT'S BUILT LATER IN THE YEAR. *AK
ALTERNATATOR MELTED BATTERY WIRES, AND VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. *AK
REAR DIFFERENTIAL PRODUCES A WHINNING NOISE AT SPEEDS OF BETWEEN 55-60 MPH. FIVE OTHER NEW 2000 MUSTANGS WERE DRIVEN AND ALL PRODUCED THE SAME WHINNING NOISE. *AK
POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKING AT BRAKE BOOSTER FITTING-BOOSTER ASSEMBLY REPLACED. *AK
MY CAR STUCK IN REVERSE AND I COULDN'T GET THE CAR OUT OF GEAR. I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AROUND THE BLOCK BACKWARDS TO GET IT IN THE GARAGE. THEN CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO FORD. LUCKILY THIS HAPPEND IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND NOT ON A BUSY STREET. I OR MY PASSENGERS MIGHT HAVE BEEN INJURED BY TRAFFIC. WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. FORD SAYS THEY KNEW THAT THERE MIGHT BE A PROBLEM BUT DID NOT DISCLOSE THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO ME AT THE TIME OF SALE ONLY 19 DAYS AGO. THEY ARE PUTTING A NEW TRANSMISSION EVEN AS WE SPEAK.
WHILE MERGING OVER THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL TURNED BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO STRAIGHT, HITTING A CURB CAUSING CONSUMER HEAD TO HIT TOP RAIL OF VEHICLE KNOCKING HIM OUT. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO SHEARING OFF A SIGN AND THEN HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIR BAG RESULTED IN HEAD TRAUMA. NLM
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 10/7/99 AND HAVE BEEN TAKING IT IN FOR SERVICE SINCE 10/12/99 THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT FIXED ANY OF THE PROBLEMS W/THE CAR, IN FACT MY CAR KEEPS GETTING WORSE. THE ROOF ITS SELF LEAKS AND WHILE REMOVING THE HEADLINER THE DEALERSHIP CAUSED DENTS AND CREASES IN MY ROOF. THEY STILL HAVEN'T REPAIRED THE DENTS OR THE LEAK. ALSO, THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN GOING OUT SINCE DAY 1 CAUSING A FIRE SMELL WHICH THE DEALERSHIP SAID WAS THE SPARKS HITTING THE CATALITIC CONVERTER AND CAUSING PROBLEMS W/THE TRANSMISSION. THE CAR SPARK KNOCKS CONSTANTLY, DIES WHILE DRIVING, SMELLS LIKE ITS ON FIRE AND HAS A HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO GEAR. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO "TRY TO FIX IT " AS THEY HAVE TRIED FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS BUT ANY REPAIRS THEY MAKE WILL NOT BE WARRANTIED. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! I HAVE CONTACTED A LOCAL TV STATION, WRITTEN A LETTER TO FORD, TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP OWNER, CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILLED OUT A FORD SURVEY. AFTER ALL OF THAT, NO ONE HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH ME.
