I NOTICED MY MUSTANG BEGINNING TO RUST ON MY HOOD. THE BEGINNING OF RUST STARTS WITH "BUBBLES" THAT IS WHEN I FIRST NOTICED IT. *TR
ON OCT 27, 2014 I WAS TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN ONTO OUR LOCAL HIGHWAY. AS I ACCELERATED FROM 40 MPH TO THE 65 MPH SPEED LIMIT THE GAS PEDAL CONTINUED TO RAPIDLY DEPRESS TO THE FLOOR SENDING ME UP TO 80 MPH UNTIL I DEPRESSED THE CLUTCH. AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE RPM SKYROCKETED, SO I TURNED OFF THE CAR, APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE! I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST CAUSED BY THE GAS PEDAL GETTING STUCK UNDER MY NEW FLOOR MAT, BUT THEN HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS, SO I KNEW IT WAS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. SINCE THEN I HAVE RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND LOTS OF INFORMATION AND BLOGS FROM OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND PLAN TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. QUESTION: WHY DOESN'T FORD DO A MAJOR RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED? *TR
ON INTERSTATE I-12 HEADING WEST AT 70 MILES PER HOUR APPROACHING ABITA EXIT, CAR KILLED AND COASTED TO SIDE IN ALOT OF TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT START, ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED, WOULD NOT RESTART, TOWED TO FORD (SUPREME FORD) DEALER IN SLIDELL, LA. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS. *TR
THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY THE RPMS WOULD GO DOWN WHILE ACCELERATING LOSING POWER AND HARDLY MOVING THE CAR. AT ONE POINT I ALMOST GET REAR ENDED BECAUSE AS I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A GREEN LIGHT THE CAR TOTALLY STALLED AND WOULD ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER AND HAVE THEIR TECHNICIANS CHECK IT,SINCE I READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT SEVERAL FORDS FROM 2005 TO 2012 INCLUDING THE MUSTANG.THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR KNOWN RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, WHEN IN FACT I READ DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT, IN SEVERAL WEBSITES. MY LIFE WAS IN DANGER SEVERAL TIMES ALL BECAUSE OF A FAULTY PART THAT FORD INSTALLED IN MY CARS AND FOR YEARS COMPLAINTS KEEP COMING AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I AM WRITING TO YOU GUYS BECAUSE YOUR LINK WAS IN ONE OF THIS WEBSITES INCLUDING GOOGLE.COM. I ALSO MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE FORD DEALER THE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13NO3 WHERE U GUYS MENTION THE FORD ESCAPE BUT ALSO TALK ABOUT COMPLAINTS ON THE MUSTANG AND SEVERAL OTHER FORD VEHICLES,AND HE SAID THAT MY MUSTANG WAS NOT ONE OF THEM.AGAIN I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH ALL THE COMPLAINTS MENTIONED BY DIFFERENT SOURCES ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE IN THE THROTTLE BODY ON THE 2010 MUSTANG. I PAID FORD FOR THE REPAIR I HAD TO,FOR MY OWN SAFETY AND MY DAUGHTER THAT RIDES WITH ME IN THAT CAR EVERYDAY AND TOLD THE DEALER THIS WAS NOT GONNA STAY LIKE THIS. NOT ONLY WAS MY SAFETY AND MY DAUGHTER'S IN JEOPARDY BUT TO PAY OVER $700 FOR A DEFECTIVE PART THAT PUT MY LIFE AND MY DAUGHTER'S IN DANGER IS BEYOND RIDICULOUS.WHEN IN FACT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY FORD AT NO CHARGE AT ALL. THE HOOD ON MY2020 MUSTANG BEGAN BUBBLING. MY DEALERSHIPRREPAINTED IT UNDER WARRANTY BUT 2 YEARS LATER IT BEGAN AGAIN. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WOULD AND THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO BUY A STEEL, NOT ALUMINUM, HOOD......UPDATED 12/15/15 *BF
PAINT IS BUBBLING ON HOOD AND BLISTERING ON REAR BUMPER.
DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY FROM VACATION AND DOING 70 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPM STARTING ACTING UP. AS I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR RPM WAS DRIVING AT A 3 INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL DRIVE. IT ALSO HAD A HARD TIME PICKING UP SPEED AFTER 60 MPH. *TR
I WAS ON INTERSTATE 59 NORTH. I PRESSED THE BRAKES, THEY WERE LOCKED UP. CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. NEITHER WOULD FUNCTION. BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, ATTEMPTING TO SLOW IT AND DISTANCE MYSELF FROM ANY TRAFFIC THAT WAS NEARBY. ONCE I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, IT BEGAN TO SLOW, ACCELERATOR AND BRAKES UNLOCKED, ALLOWING ME TO COME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CALLED FORD, THEY'VE TOWED IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I'VE READ SOOOOO MANY REPORTS ONLINE, BUT FORD IS GIVING EXCUSES AND BLAMING IT ON CUSTOMERS. THIS IS DEADLY AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE AS A RESULT OF IT! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY CAR BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED AND GOING DEAD, WHILE CAR IS COMPLETELY OFF AFTER SITTING FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES. I HAVE HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED, ALTERNATOR CHECKED, AND ALL FUSES PULLED AND DIAGNOSED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A SHORTAGE OR BAD FUSES. ALL WIRES, CONNECTORS, AND FUSES WERE DOCUMENTED TO BE IN GOOD STANDING. THE CAR HAD BEEN DRIVING PERFECTLY AND CRANKING WITH NO PROBLEM, THEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED OUT OF THE BLUE. THE SAME DAY IT WENT DEAD, THAT MORNING IS WHEN MY CAR STARTED UP SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT; BUT I DID NOT PAY IT MUCH ATTENTION, SINCE IT DID CRANK. LATER THAT DAY, I STARTED MY CAR AND IT SLIGHTLY TOOK A SECOND LONGER TO CRANK; WHICH IS WHEN I THEN FIGURED SOMETHING WAS GOING WRONG. I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION - WHERE I WAS THERE FOR ABOUT A 1.5 HOURS - GOT IN THE CAR TO LEAVE, AND THAT'S WHEN I FIRST EXPERIENCED A COMPLETELY DEAD BATTERY. I THEN WAS ABLE TO GET A JUMP, WHICH STARTED MY CAR RIGHT BACK UP; WHEREAS, I THEN HEADED TO AUTOZONE AND GOOD YEAR TIRES TO HAVE MY BATTERY TESTED. EACH PLACE STATED THAT MY BATTERY WAS 100% AND CHARGING PERFECTLY. I THEN WENT TO AN AUTO ELECTRIC SHOP AFTER GOOGLING THE PROBLEM, AND SEEING THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME YEAR AND PREVIOUS MUSTANG MODELS. AFTER 5 HOURS OF DIAGNOSING MY CAR AND SEEKING WHAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE, I WAS INFORMED BY THE CAR TECHNICIAN THAT THE ISSUE OF THE DRAINING IS BEING CAUSED FROM THE MALFUNCTIONING OF THE SMART JUNCTION BOX - LOCATED IN THE FOOT PANEL OF THE PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO START INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SMART JUNCTION BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I HAD JUST MADE THE FINAL PAYMENT ON THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE ABS ANTI-SKID LIGHTS CAME ON. A LOCAL MECHANIC TESTED IT, AND SAID THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE: A DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL VALVE RIGHT FRONT CIRCUIT FAILURE AND AN ABS UNIT MALFUNCTION. THE TOTAL COSTS FOR THE TWO PARTS WERE MORE THAN $1,100.00. *TR
MY VENT HAS A LOUD CLICKING NOISE EVERY TIME I START THE CAR UP, IT LAST FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS. MY AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED ON MY CONSOLE AND WILL NOT GO OFF. *TR
MY MUSTANG IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD, MINT CONDITION, ONLY 21,800 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. PAINT IS BUBBLING ON THE HOOD, ABOUT TO START PEELING OFF. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS TODAY, I'VE LEARNED THAT THIS IS APPARENTLY A PROBLEM ON MULTIPLE FORD MODELS, INCLUDING AND BEYOND THE MUSTANG, AND SPANNING MANY MODEL YEARS. I UNDERSTAND THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS ISSUED AT LEAST ONE TSB ON IT, IF NOT MORE, YET CONTINUES TO KNOWINGLY SELL THESE VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE PAINT JOBS ON THEM, CAUSING THEIR CUSTOMERS FINANCIAL LOSS IN HAVING TO REPAINT THE VEHICLE IN AS FEW AS 3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASING. DUE TO THE CORROSIVE NATURE, THIS IS AN EXTRAORDINARILY INTRICATE PROCESS TO REPAINT THESE AND REQUIRES SPECIAL PROCESSES AND FORD IS REFUSING TO FIX THESE VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH THEY CREATED THE PROBLEM. IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS ONE LAWSUIT IN PROGRESS BUT IT ONLY GOES UP TO 2007 MODELS I THINK, BUT APPARENTLY THERE ARE MANY VEHICLES BEYOND THAT YEAR THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I READ "FORD USED ALUMINUM HOODS BUT FAILED TO PROPERLY INSULATE THEM FROM PRIOR MODEL YEAR IRON-BASED CONNECTING AND SUPPORTING PARTS, DESPITE KNOWING THAT WOULD GIVE RISE TO GALVANIC COUPLING AND CORROSION" FOR A MORE TECHNICAL ANSWER. ALSO I FOUND "WHAT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE ABOUT THIS ISSUE IS THAT FORD ACTUALLY WROTE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) AND SENT IT OUT TO ALL OF ITS DEALERS IN 2004 OUTLINING THE ISSUES WITH THE HOODS AND HOW TO REPAIR THEM PROPERLY, EVEN THOUGH THEY DENY ALL WRONG DOING OR THAT AN ISSUE EVEN EXISTS - BUT IT IS PRETTY HARD TO IGNORE THAT AN ISSUE EXISTS WHEN A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH OF 'MUSTANG HOOD PROBLEMS' OR "FORD PAINT PROBLEMS" WILL BRING UP FORUM AFTER FORUM OF MUSTANG OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE". I ALSO READ A POST THAT ANOTHER TSB WENT OUT AFTER THE FIRST ONE THAT INCLUDES ALL MODELS UP TO 2016! PLEASE HELP US!
NEAR MISS - CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I INSTINCTIVELY HIT THE BREAKS AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKED UP AND WOULDN'T RELEASE CAUSING PASSENGER DISCOMFORT AND UNABLE TO BREATH, WAS UNABLE TO RELEASE SEAT BELT SO HAD TO CUT OFF . THIS IS A 2010 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES . CONTACTED DEALER AND SAID THAT THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! IT WOULD BE $300 + LABOR ?? LOOKED ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! FORD NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM! *TR
THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS SAY ON FULL INTENSITY (THE SAME INTENSITY AS IF BRAKING). WHEN THE IGNITION IS OFF, THE TAIL LIGHTS REMAIN ON FULL INTENSITY. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE LIGHT INTENSITY REMAINS ON FULL WITH NO CHANGE. THEY DO NOT TURN OFF. HOWEVER, THE LIGHTS RESPOND PROPERLY TO THE TURN SIGNALS (SAME LIGHTS USED), BY SEQUENTIALLY ALTERNATING INSIDE LIGHT "TRAVELING" TO THE OUTSIDE, AS THE MUSTANG TAIL LIGHTS ARE A THREE LIGHT SEQUENCE ON EACH SIDE, LEFT AND RIGHT. THE PASSENGER FLOORBOARD CARPETING IS WET AND THE WIRES LEADING INTO THE SMART JUNCTION BOX ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE ARE WET. THE AREA HAS HAD RAINFALL RECENTLY AND I HAD TAKEN THE CAR INTO AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY CAR WASH. IT HAS BEEN SAID BY SOME THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE S-197 MUSTANG DESIGN, WHERE THE LEAKS OCCUR DUE TO CLOGS IN DRAINAGE, BUT FORD REPRESENTATIVES WILL NOT TAKE STEPS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT A RECALL ORDER (POSTED ON MORE THAN ONE WEBSITE). FORD WILL ALSO NOT ADVISE CONSUMERS ON AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION WHICH WE CAN TAKE, INSTEAD CHOOSING TO REPLACE SMART JUNCTION BOXES COSTING OVER $500 AT A DEALER, WITH ANOTHER $500 TO PROGRAM AND INSTALL, WHICH ELECTRICALLY SHORT, INSTEAD OF A $20 KIT IN THE FORM OF NEW SEALS TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM. I FEAR AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WHILE DRIVING, EVEN A 12V CURRENT AT A HIGH AMPERAGE CAN CAUSE MEDICAL PROBLEMS, OR A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. NOT ONLY THAT, THE BRAKE LIGHT BEING ON PREVENTS THE CAR FROM BEING DRIVEN SAFELY UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS, WHICH REQUIRE WORKING BRAKE LIGHTS IN OUR TRANSPORTATION CODE. THIS CAR NO LONGER CAN PASS THE STATE OF TEXAS ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION CRITERIA WITHOUT A SMART JUNCTION BOX REPLACEMENT, WHICH ON THIS CAR IS DUE BY NOVEMBER 1, 2013. *TR

HOOD PAINT IS BUBBLING, CORRODING, AND CHIPPING OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FUSE BURNED OUT AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A HARD STOP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. SAM PACK FORD OF LEWISVILLE FIXED THE PROBLEM BY TIGHTENING THE BOLT AND BLEEDING BRAKES AND CHECKING OPERATION. OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS MAY NEED TO HAVE THEIR BRAKE LINES CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THEY DON'T LEAK. *TR
I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A STREET. THE DRIVER'S DOOR FLEW OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO STOP AND CLOSE THE DOOR BEFORE THERE WAS ANY TYPE OF CRASH AND NO INJURY. DURING LATE 2012 I HAD NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S DOOR NOT LATCHING WHEN I CLOSED IT. WHEN INSIDE THE CAR I MADE A POINT OF CLOSING THE DOOR FIRMLY. WHEN PARKING THE CAR I DEVELOPED THE HABIT OF HITTING THE DOOR LATCH TO BE CERTAIN IT WAS CLOSED SECURELY. THERE WAS ONE OTHER TIME AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE THE DOOR OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN DRIVING BUT I WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR, AGAIN WITHOUT INCIDENT OR INJURY. I BOUGHT A NEW DOOR HANDLE THROUGH THE FORD DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH I'D PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAD IT INSTALLED IN SEPT 2014. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE HANDLE THAT WASN'T WORKING AND NOT A BIGGER PROBLEM IN THE DOOR. I ORDERED THE CAR ABOUT 5-27-09 AND TOOK DELIVERY 8-11-09. *TR
WAS GETTING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. SAM PACK FORD OF LEWISVILLE FOUND THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAD FAILED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS LEAKING WATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WAS GETTING A SHUTTER FEEL WHILE DRIVING. SAM PACK FORD REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP, POWER STEERING RESERVOIR AND POWER STEERING HOSE ASSEMBLY TO FIX PROBLEM. MY BE OF CONCERN FOR OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS. *TR
8/5/12 CAR TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WILL NOT MOVE LOCKS UP WHEN IN PARK WHILE CAR IS RUNNING, CUT CAR OFF AND ENTIRE SYSTEM LOCKS UP AND CAR THEN WILL NOT START, TOW SERVICE SUGGECTED ANIT THEFT DEVICE ACTIVATED, DEALER SAID IT NEEDED NEW $133 BATTERY, INSTALLED ON 8/6/12, 8/10/12 CAR AGAIN SITTING AT LONG STOP LIGHT, PUT IN PARK, LIGHT CHANGED, AND WENT TO PUT IN DRIVE SHIFTER LOCKED WHILE CAR RUNNING, CUT CAR OFF THEN CAR WOULD NOT START ENTIRE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM LOCKED CAR . *TR
I HAVE A 2010 FORD MUSTANG GT COUPE AND HAD TO HAVE MY FRONT WINDSHIELD REPLACED BECAUSE IT GOT DAMAGED. I HAD A NEW OEM WINDSHIELD INSTALLED BY SAFELITE GLASS WHO INSTALLED A CARLITE WINDSHIELD AND THE DISTORTION AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE WINDOW IS VERY BAD. EVERYTHING LOOKS CURVY AND MAGNIFIED WHEN I SEE OUT OF THAT PART OF THE GLASS. REALIZE I SIT VERY LOW IN THE MUSTANG AND ACTUALLY SEE A LOT THROUGH THE BOTTOM 2 INCHES AND LEFT 2 INCHES. SAFELITE BROUGHT 5 DIFFERENT CARLITE WINDSHIELDS AND THEY ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY SAID I COULD USE SOMEONE ELSE SO I WENT TO JN PHILLIPS AND THEY HAD A COUPLE OF CARLITE WINDSHIELDS IN STOCK FOR MY MUSTANG AND THEY TOO WERE DISTORTED. THE GLASS TECHNICIAN THERE EVEN CONFIRMED IT. I AM BEING TOLD THAT IS THE ONLY GLASS I CAN GET FOR MY MUSTANG AND EVERYWHERE THEY CHECKED HAD DISTORTED GLASS. THE DOT NUMBER OF ALL THE WINDSHIELDS THAT HAVE BEEN DELIVERED TO ME ALREADY (6 WINDSHIELDS NOW) ARE ALL 287. JN PHILIPS CALLED ALL AROUND AND ALL THAT IS AROUND IS DOT 287 GLASS WITH THE SAME DISTORTION. I WILL NOT ACCEPT HAVING TO LIVE WITH AN INFERIOR WINDSHIELD LIKE THIS. WAS PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT AT CHURCH AND THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND HIT A CONCRETE WALL. FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL COMING TO A STOP; WAS GOING SLOWLY WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD. THE BUMPER AND HOOD WERE DAMAGED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO RUN DIAGNOSTIC, BUT THEY SAID ALL CODES WERE "WITHIN SPECS". THIS WAS THE FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH SURGE. I PURCHASED A 2010 FORD MUSTANG ON FEBRUARY 17TH, 2010. ON DECEMBER 14TH, 2010 WITH 12,00 MILES ON THE CAR, GOING NORTHBOUND ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENTIRE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY WENT OUT AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ON DECEMBER 22ND, 2010 THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME WITH THE REPLACED REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY. ON DECEMBER 27TH, 2010 THE NEWLY REPLACED REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AGAIN WENT OUT LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE SAME HIGHWAY A FEW YARDS SHY OF THE PREVIOUS BREAKDOWN. THE "ENGINEERS" ARE STATING THAT THE REAR END CARRIER AND AXLES ARE SEIZING IN THE HOUSING. *TR
THE CAR WILL PUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL WHEN STOPPED, AND WILL REQUIRE AN ACCELERATION TO CAUSE THE CAR TO ENTER FIRST GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD. THIS IS NOT EVERY TIME, BUT IS INCONSISTENT, AND LEADS TO A RISKY SITUATION WHERE THERE MAY BE A MOMENT OF UNRESPONSIVENESS. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *LN
I REAR ENDED A LARGE JACKED-UP TRUCK THAT HAD A STEEL TUBE BUMPER AT 50MPH. THE TRUCKS BUMPER GRAZED THE TOP OF MY FRONT BUMPER AND DID EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY FRONT END WHERE THE RADIATOR EXPLODED AND THE HOOD IS TOUCHING THE ENGINE. BUT MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AT 50MPH! WHEN I HIT THE TRUCK MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF RIGHT AFTER THE IMPACT, BUT SO DID MY ABS, ADVANCETRAC TRACTION CONTROL AND LIGHTS AND CHIMES STARTED TO GO OFF. IF MY CAR SHUT DOWN DUE TO THE IMPACT AT 50MPH WHY DIDN'T MY AIRBAGS GO OFF? THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. WITH A LOT MORE JACKED UP TRUCKS AND STEEL PIPE BUMPERS I THINK FORD AND OTHER CAR MANUFACTURES NEED TO FOCUS ON A NEW SAFETY FEATURE AND NOT JUST RELY ON THE BOTTOM SECTION OF THE BUMPER GETTING HIT FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. MY ENTIRE FRONT END IS PUSHED INTO THE ENGINE, BUT THE BUMPER IS INTACT EXCEPT SOME SCRAPES ON THE TOP. BOUGHT A 2010 MUSTANG GT500 CONVERTIBLE ON FEB 18 2010. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TWO OF THE SAME ISSUES WITH PROBLEMS SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO SECOND GEAR AND FIFTH GEAR. IT IS IN THE SHOP NOW FOR THE SECOND TIME TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. ALSO, IN MARCH, MY VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A CAR FROM THE REAR WITH NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE CAR WAS IN THE FORD SERVICE SHOP GETTING THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED BEFORE THE WORK WAS DONE ON THE CAR TO FIX THE REAR BUMPER. (THE TRANSMISSION HAD AN ISSUE BEFORE THE WRECK). ON JULY 24 AROUND 930 PM MY PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG DEPLOYED ON MY PASSENGER WITH 0 IMPACT TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN BROUGHT TO THE SERVICE TO HAVE THE TRANNY CHECKED FOR THE SECOND TIME AND I MENTIONED THIS AIRBAG PROBLEM AT THE TIME I CAME IN FOR THE SERVICE APPT. ( THE NIGHT OF THE INCIDENT I HAD THE POLICE FILE A REPORT AND I HAVE A FILE NUMBER FOR THIS, AFTER THE FILE WAS FILED, I CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE FOR THE DEALERSHIP STATING THIS HAPPENED) . FORD, SINCE HAS SAID THAT TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING FURTHER THEY CAN DO. I HAVE AN ADJUSTER DUE TO LAFAYETTE FORD IN FAYETTEVILLE, NC ON THE 4TH OF AUG. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESET THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,800.

I PURCHASED A 2010 FORD MUSTANG V6 COUPE AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE HYDROLIC CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED, THE SLAVE CYLANDER, THROTTLE BODY UNIT, AND THERMOSTAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED. WHEN INVOLVED THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S NORMAL FOR MY CAR AND THAT ALL I CAN DO IS WAIT FOR A 'CATASTROPHIC' EVENT TO OCCUR OR I CAN TRADE IN MY CAR. IN APRIL 2010, I NOTICED CRACKS IN THE RUBBER IN BETWEEN THE TREAD RIBS ON ALL 4 TIRES. THESE TIRES HAD ~17K MILES ON THEM AND WERE 1 YEARS OLD. I CAN PROVIDE PICTURES UPON REQUEST. I AM REPORTING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BELIEVE THAT IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE A SAFETY HAZARD AND IT OCCURRED DURING NORMAL TIRE OWNERSHIP.
