THE CLUTCH MAKES A CRACKING NOISE. WHEN I SHIFT BETWEEN 1ST AND 3RD IT CAN BE DIFFICULT AT TIMES DEPENDING ON THE TEMPERATURE. THE SYMPTOMS ARE NOT CONSISTENT. *KB
?TRANSMISSION NOTCHINESS ?OCCASIONALLY UNABLE TO GET INTO GEARS (NOT DUE TO SKIP SHIFT) ?CLUTCH MAKES OCCASIONAL CLUNKING NOISES ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS ?COLD SHIFTING EXACERBATES PROBLEMS (WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF BY TSB) DANGEROUS EXPERIENCES: ?NOVEMBER 18TH: I WAS ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT FROM THIRD GEAR TO FOURTH GEAR AS I WAS PASSING A SEMI. I WAS UNABLE TO GET INTO GEAR (SHIFTING CORRECTLY: CLUTCH DEPRESSED, CALM SMOOTH GEAR CHANGE), AND I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD AT 35+ MPH. THIS LIFE THREATENING EXPERIENCE MOVED ME TO TAKE THESE ACTIONS. ?DECEMBER 5TH: AS I WAS TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD REPAIR ATTEMPT, I WAS TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AND HAD TO SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND (AT 2000 RPM SO NO SKIP SHIFT ISSUE). I WAS UNABLE TO ENTER THE GEAR AND WAS VULNERABLE TO ACCIDENTS BEING STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. I FINALLY SHIFTED INTO THE SECOND GEAR WITH A LOUD GRIND, AVOIDING A COLLISION WITH A BUS. *TR
INABILITY TO SHIFT INTO GEARS WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR WHILE TURNING LEFT ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER POWER SEATS WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS AND INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH HAD BURNED OUT. AS A RESULT, THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,700.
SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR CLUNKING SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *TR
2011 MUSTANG GT WITH 6477 MILES, WITH 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. TAKING OFF FROM A STOP SIGN AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR, RESULTED IN ONLY BEING ABLE TO SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO NEUTRAL. ONCE THE SHIFTER MOVED INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION, THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER ABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOPPING POINT WITH NO ENGINE POWER AND TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR REPAIR. THIS IS THE 2ND INCIDENT WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR, WITH THE PRIOR INCIDENT BEING A FAULTY SLAVE CLUTCH CYLINDER. (THIS VEHICLE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH THE 'SKIP SHIFT' FEATURE THAT IS MEANT TO INCREASE GAS MILEAGE BY LOCKING OUT CERTAIN GEARS.) *TR
PURCHASED NEW 2011 MUSTANG GT. BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GEARS BEING VERY NOTCHY AND DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. I HAVE HAD 2 ACCOUNTS WHERE I WAS NEARLY REARENDED WHILE COMING OFF A YIELD DUE TO THE FACT THAT 4TH GEAR WOULD NOT SHIFT IN PLACE. 4TH GEAR CONSISTENTLY LOCKS AT HIGH RPM, 5TH GEAR GRINDS, AND ALL GEARS ARE HARD TO MANAGE IN BELOW 60 DEGREE TEMPERATURES. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A MONTH AND A HALF, GOT IT BACK AND WITHIN 2 WEEKS THE SAME PROBLEMS AROSE. CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP. FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE THIS RECURRING ISSUE. *TR
MY 6-SPEED TRANS WILL NOT ENGAGE INTO GEAR. FOR EXAMPLE, I ENTERED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR TO 3RD GEAR AND WHEN I WAS ABLE AGAIN THE CLUTCH MADE A "POP" NOISE AND RAISED 3-5 INCHES TOWARDS MY FOOT. AFTER THAT INCIDENT I CANNOT SHIFT OR ACCELERATE AND THE RIDE IS ROUGH NOW. *TR
BAD SHIFT QUALITY,RADICAL SHIFTING, TAKE OFF JERK OR TRYING TO STALL AT TAKE OFF ON 6R80 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. FORWARD MOTION WITH BRAKE APPLIED AT STOP SOMETIMES. REAR END POPS AND JERKS LOUDLY WHEN THESE THINGS HAPPEN. BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW. HAS BEEN IN SHOP FOR THESE REASONS 8 TIMES IN 2 YEARS AT 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS WITH NO FIX! EVERYTHING MOSTLY HAPPEN AT LOW SPEED BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEARS OR EVEN AT STOP.VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IS BUT FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AND BLAMING DRIVING HABITS ON WIFE AND I, EVEN AFTER MANY PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED! IT IS NOT FIXED AND FORD WILL HELP! *TR
FAULTY 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. ANY TIME THE VEHICLE IS ON AN INCLINE 20 DEGREES OR HIGHER AND BEING SHIFTED FROM 2ND GEAR (AROUND 18-20MPH) TO ANY OTHER GEAR THE SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN NEUTRAL WITH INABILITY TO GO TO ANY OTHER GEAR UNTIL THE ENGINE RPM DROPS. THIS SHIFTING DELAY CAN TAKE ANYWHERE FORM 3 TO 7 SECONDS, BEFORE ANOTHER GEAR IS AVAILABLE TO ENGAGE. *TT
IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS THE CAR SEEMS TO LOWER IT'S RPMS BY ITSELF ALMOST TO THE POINT OF IT FEELING LIKE IT IS BRAKING WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM ME. THIS HAPPENS PRETTY MUCH AT ANY SPEED. ALSO THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WHEN SLOWING/STOPPING AND ACCELERATING. WHEN I START SLOWING DOWN AND THEN HAVE TO PRESS THE GAS THE CAR JOLTS LIKE IT GOES FROM 1ST GEAR TO 4TH GEAR INSTANTLY. THIS IS NOT A GOOD FEELING AT ALL AND KIND OF SCARY. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO TAKE OFF WITHOUT ME. HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE AND AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 1500 MILES. *TR
MY 2011 MUSTANG JOINED THE LIST OF BROKEN 6 SPEED MANUAL CARS. WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 5 GEAR CAUSING A STALL AT 45MPH OR SKIP A GEAR AND THATS SAYING IT LETS YOU HAVE 3RD GEAR. THIS PROBLEM IS SO BAD THAT FORD IS PAYING FOR RENT CARS WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE TO. I'VE ALREADY TRADED 1 2011 MUSTANG IN FOR FOR THIS ONE WITH BOTH HAVING TRANSMISSON HAVING ISSUES AT 12,000 MILES. THIS IS BECOMING A BAD JOKE OF A CAR TO SAY THE LEAST. IT IS ALSO VERY EASY TO GO BACKWARDS WITH FIRST GEAR GOING INTO REVERSE INSTEAD. TRANSMISSON IS A BAD JOKE. *KB
VERY NOTCHY TRANSMISSION AND CAN'T SHIFT GEAR AT CERTAIN RPM'S. ALSO, TRANSMISSION WOULD POP OUT OF GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY. ALL PROBLEMS STARTED APPEARING AFTER THE FIRST 1000 MILES. WHEN COMPLAINED TO FORD, I WAS TOLD THAT ALL OF THOSE PROBLEMS ARE NORMAL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FORD MUSTANG GT, THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SHIFT INTO 3RD OR 4TH GEAR. I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO AN INTERSECTION AND WAS UNABLE TO POWER THE VEHICLE TO SAFELY MAKE THE TURN. AFTER MAKING THE VEHICLE COME TO A NEARLY COMPLETE STOP, I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO SECOND AND GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LUCKILY THE TRAFFIC WAS EXTRA FAR AWAY OR ELSE I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE TIME TO SLOW AND FORCE THE CAR INTO 2ND GEAR. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE & THE CAR ONLY HAS 5K MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH HE WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,600.
I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR 3 MONTHS. IT HAS 4400 MILES ON IT AND THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS ACTING UP. SOMETIMES I CANNOT GET IT TO GO IN TO GEAR, USUALLY 1ST, 2ND, AND REVERSE. IT WILL OCCASIONALLY JUMP OUT OF GEAR WITH NORMAL OPERATION. THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I LIVE IN THE DALLAS METROPLEX, WITH THE STOP AND GO TRAFFIC SOMETIMES A DRIVER DOESN'T SEE THE CARS IN FRONT STOPPED AND YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THEIR WAY. WITH THIS PROBLEM I CAN GUARANTEE THAT I WOULD GET REAR ENDED IN THAT SITUATION. EVEN AFTER SITTING AT A LIGHT I SOMETIMES AM GETTING HONKED AT SINCE I CANNOT GET THE CAR INTO GEAR. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS A HUGE ANNOYANCE. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR
MY 2011 MUSTANG HAS HAD SOME TRANSMISSION ISSUES FOR THE LAST COUPLE MONTHS. AFTER READING SOME OF THE FORUMS AND GETTING AN IDEA OF SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING (MANY OF WHICH I AM AS WELL), I CAN REPORT THE PROBLEM WHICH GOT NOTICEABLY WORSE OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, 1. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR (EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED YOU REALLY NEED TO EXERT A LITTLE STRENGTH). 2. 1ST TO 2ND SHIFTS VERY ROCKY, AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET A SMOOTH SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND WITHOUT THE CAR BUCKING. 3. WHEN SHIFTING AT A HIGHER RPM FROM THIRD TO FOURTH (SUCH AS WHEN ACCELERATING ON AN ONRAMP TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY WHEN THE RPM MAY BE EXCEEDING 3500-4000 RPMS), THERE IS A TREMENDOUS GRIND IN THE SHIFT, AND TO AVOID I MUST SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL FROM THIRD WAIT A SECOND AND THEN ENGAGE INTO FOURTH. 4. WHEN DOWNSHIFTING I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT END SEEMS TO BE ALMOST LOCKING UP ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED (THIS IS WITHIN THE LAST WEEK), AND ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE EXACERBATED THEMSELVES SINCE THE COLD WEATHER HAS ARRIVED. *TR
(NOTE: CAR IS A MUSTANG GT 5 LITER) THIS INCIDENT FOLLOWED MY INITIAL DRIVETRAIN COMPLAINTS TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEIR REPLACEMENT OF MY CLUTCH PEDAL ASSEMBLY. ENTERING A HIGHWAY, I APPROACHED A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH IN 3RD GEAR, TAKING THE ENGINE CLOSE TO 6K RPM. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO 4TH WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL FULLY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, THE STICK WOULD NOT BUDGE INTO THE 4TH GEAR SLOT. AS THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN, I TRIED OTHER GEAR SLOTS: 5TH, THEN 6TH, 4TH AGAIN, TO 3RD. NOTHING. FINALLY, I REMOVED MY LEFT FOOT FROM THE PEDAL ALTOGETHER AND NOTICED THE PEDAL WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. AFTER PUMPING IT TO NO AVAIL, I WEDGED MY FOOT UNDER THE PEDAL TO KICK IT BACK UP. MY DRIVETRAIN WAS ONCE AGAIN RESPONSIVE. I WAS ALREADY AWARE OF A RUMOR THAT LATER MODEL MUSTANGS HAD HIGH RPM GEAR-SHIFTING ISSUES, BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST PERSONAL OCCURRENCE FOR ME. BASED ON THIS SUSPICION, I ATTEMPTED TO RECREATE IT ON THE WAY BACK HOME AND I WAS ONCE AGAIN ABLE TO FREEZE MY CLUTCH TO THE FLOOR. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN FOR REPAIR, AND I BELIEVE THEY ARE REPLACING THE CLUTCH AND PRESSURE PLATE FOR THEIR NEXT FIX ATTEMPT. *TT
ON A 2 LANE ROAD, SPEED LIMIT 45 MPH. BUS WAS PULLED OVER IN THE RIGHT LANE , SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 30 MPH, AN APPROPRIATE GAP IN TRAFFIC WAS COMING UP. WENT TO PUT CAR INTO 3RD GEAR AFTER REV MATCHING AND 3RD GEAR WAS LOCKED OUT. HAD TO SWERVE BACK BEHIND THE BUS AND SLAM ON THE BREAKS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME A GEAR HAS BEEN LOCKED OUT AND CAUSED ME TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR SHOULDER. *KB
ANYTIME THE ENGINE IS ROTATING OVER 4000 RPM'S THE 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WILL RANDOMLY BE BLOCKED FROM GOING INTO GEAR(ANY GEAR), LEAVING THE VEHICLE IN A NEUTRAL STATE AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE LIKE IT HAS STALLED. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING THIS CAR, BUT I DO NOT DRIVE IT LIKE I WOULD LIKE TO, I HAVE TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL NOT TO PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ANYONE. THIS IS EASILY DUPLICATED, AND TO ME IT FEELS LIKE THE EITHER 1, BAD CLUTCH NOT DISENGAGING ALL THE WAY, 2. TRANSMISSION/SHIFTER ARE OUT OF ALIGNMENT, 3. BAD SYNCHRO'S. I HAVE NOT HAD IT IN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, BECAUSE FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE FORD CONSIDERS THIS NORMAL. IF IT'S NORMAL, THEN I'LL JUST SELL THE CAR THAT I PERSONALLY ORDERED 6 MONTHS EARLY AND THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, AND MARK THIS ONE DOWN AS A LESSON LEARNED. *TR
2011 MUSTANG GT 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION FAILURE TO GO INTO 2ND GEAR.GENERALY HAPPENS DURING SHARP LEFT TURN. I CANNOT EVEN FORCE IT INTO 2ND. DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN BUT ENOUGH TO FRUSTRATE THE [XXX]OUT ME. I'M 62 YEARS OLD AND HAVE DRIVEN ANY NUMBER OF MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. 2011 V6 MUSTANG WITH MT-82 THAT HAS ABOUT 15K MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN NOTCHY IN 1ST-3RD SINCE THE FIRST FEW HUNDRED MILES, AND DURING COLD WEATHER IS VERY HARD TO GET INTO 2ND GEAR WITHOUT GRINDING AND POPPING BACK OUT FOR THE FIRST FEW SHIFTS OF THE MORNING. MOST DISCONCERTING WHEN MY 2ND TURN OF THE DAY IS THROUGH A BUSY 4 LANE INTERSECTION AND IT POPS OUT IN THE INTERSECTION. I HAVE STARTED NOT SHIFTING OUT OF FIRST TILL I AM THROUGH THE CORNER. BEEN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WITH "NO ISSUE FOUND". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD MUSTANG GT. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH,THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE AND STALLED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE AFTER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,500. UPDATED 09/15/11*LJ THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED HE WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM, EVEN WHEN TWO MECHANICS WERE UNABLE TO GET IT OUT OF 3RD GEAR. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. 2011 MUSTANG GT WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION FAILURE. CAR WILL NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT COULD TAKE OVER A MONTH TO GET THE PARTS IN BECAUSE THEY ARE COMING FROM EUROPE. *TR
2011 FORD MUSTANG 3.6L ,6SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. 1ST AND 2ND GEAR IS HARD TO SHIFT INTO, ESPECIALLY IN THE MORNINGS. GOING ON 10,000 MILES ON 2011 MUSTANG GT WITH MANUAL 6-SPD. AT FIRST SHOWED VERY NOTCHY SHIFTING, AND GEARS WOULD GRIND WITH CLUTCH DEPRESSED COMPLETELY WHEN COLD. PROBLEM WENT AWAY ONCE THE TRANSMISSION WARMED UP. TOOK IT IN TO FORD DEALER, THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, NOW YOU CAN FEEL A VIBRATION AND WHIRR/GRINDING NOISE SOMETIMES IN 1ST-3RD. EXTREMELY NOTCHY NOW, WILL FREQUENTLY NOT ENGAGE A GEAR IF UNDER ACCELERATION. I HAVE HAD 2ND AND 3RD GEAR REFUSE TO ENGAGE SEVERAL TIMES NOW WHILE ON A FREEWAY ONRAMP, WHEN PASSING, AND IN GENERAL HIGHER-THAN-NORMAL LOAD CONDITIONS. *TR
TRANSMISSION GRINDS 1-2, 2-3,3-4 SHIFTS INTERMITTENTLY. OCCASIONALLY LOCKED OUT OF GEARS. TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT FORD DEALER ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RETURN. AFTER MY TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT IT SHIFTED NICELY FOR ABOUT A MONTH. NOW IT IS BEGINNING TO GRIND AGAIN AND TODAY I WAS LOCKED OUT OF SECOND GEAR AND THIRD GEAR. I WAS LEAVING A LIGHT ON A HILL IN FIRST GEAR, WENT TO SHIFT INTO SECOND AND COULDN'T ENGAGE IT (NOT SKIP SHIFT RELATED AS I WAS OVER 3000 RPM), WENT FOR THIRD AND NO LUCK THERE, BY THIS TIME THE CAR WAS ALMOST BACK TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PEOPLE WERE SWERVING AROUND ME (VERY FRIGHTENING WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR). I PUT THE CAR BACK IN FIRST GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFT NORMALLY THROUGH 6TH GEAR. SINCE REBUILD DEALER CLAIMS TO BE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MOST DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ACCELERATING BACK UP FROM A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN TRANSMISSION DELAYS SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE ENGAGING WHICH HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WHEN THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO ME GIVING IT GAS. CAR: 2011 MUSTANG V6 WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION MILES: 3600 THE PROBLEM: THE GEAR SHIFT IS VERY NOTCHY AND ROUGH, ESPECIALLY FROM 1-2 AND 2-3. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN I WANTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT A LIGHT AND MISTAKENLY GONE INTO THIRD GEAR FROM NEUTRAL BECAUSE THE GEAR REFUSES TO GO INTO 1 EASILY. SO I END UP NOT HAVING ENOUGH ACCELERATION TO BEAT ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE ALMOST HAD THREE CRASHES THIS WAY. OTHER TIMES SHIFTING FROM 1-2 OR 2-3 CAUSES AN INCOMPLETE SHIFT BECAUSE OF SOME RESISTANCE IN THE GEAR BOX. THIS LEADS TO A JARRING, LOUD GRINDING NOISE EMANATING FROM THE GEAR BOX. THIS ALSO LEADS TO LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND I HAVE BEEN ALMOST REAR ENDED A FEW TIMES. THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR ON AND OFF MOSTLY WHEN STARTING OFF FROM A STOP (FROM NEUTRAL) AND AT HIGH RPM GEAR CHANGES. RESOLUTION: I'VE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AS PER THE FORD TSB. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A MILE AND THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN ON THE INSISTENCE OF THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE DROVE IT AROUND AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE AS WELL. HE SAID HE WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH FORD TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY FIX. HE GOT BACK TO ME A FEW WEEKS LATER AND SAID THAT FORD DOESN'T HAVE ANY RESOLUTION AND DOESN'T SEEM TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. FINAL THOUGHTS: I THINK THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THAT A NEW CAR HAS THESE ISSUES. IT IS A GREAT CAR OTHERWISE. THE ON COMING VEHICLE WAS A SEMI TRAVELING 55 MPH IN 55 MPH POSTED SPEED ZONE. HAD THE VEHICLE PERFORMED PROPERLY SUFFICIENT SPEED WOULD HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED AS TO NOT IMPEDE THE PROGRESS OF THE APPROACHING SEMI. A REASONABLE AND ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF DISTANCE WAS PRESENT PRIOR TO PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. DEALER WAS ADVISED AND PERFORMED A CHANGE OF FLUID TO A DUEL CLUTCH FLUID WHICH AND I INSTALLED AN AFTERMARKET SHIFTER (MGW SHIFTER) WHICH MADE A SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT. I STILL BELIEVE A DESIGN ISSUE EXISTS. PLACEMENT INTO GEAR IS OFTEN DIFFICULT AND UP SHIFTING IS NOT SMOOTH AS IT SHOULD BE. THIS TRANSMISSION HAS DONE THIS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. HERE'S WHAT I'M EXPERIENCING. 1. CLUTCH PEDAL STICKS TO FLOOR AT HIGHER RPM SHIFTS (5000 PLUS) AND WILL NOT RELEASE UNTIL RPM HAS LOWERED TO LESS THAN 3500 RPM. DOESN?T MATTER WHAT GEAR I?M SHIFTING INTO. 2. I WAS LOCKED INTO 2ND GEAR WHEN CLUTCH PEDAL WAS STUCK TO FLOOR. THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PULL OUT OF 2ND TO GO TO 3RD UNTIL I SLOWED DOWN (LESS THAN 3500 RPM) AND CLUTCH RELEASED. THEN ONCE I PUSHED THE CLUTCH BACK IN AFTER IT RELEASED I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD. 3. AT A HIGHER RPM SHIFT (5000 PLUS) I WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD. I WAS LOCKED OUT OF 3RD GEAR. I WAS GETTING ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND I HAD TO SLOW DOWN AND THEN AT A LOWER RPM (ABOUT 3500-4000) THEN I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO 3RD. 4. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO GO INTO REVERSE AND 1ST GEAR SOMETIMES WHEN CLUTCH IS PUSHED DOWN TO FLOOR WHILE THE CAR IS AT A STOP. IF I LET THE CLUTCH OUT AND DOUBLE PUMP IT THEN IT WILL LET ME BUT THE TRANSMISSION FEELS AND SOUNDS CLUNKY. 5. NOT ALLOWED TO SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND SOMETIMES AND WHEN IT DOES FINALLY GO INTO GEAR, IT FEELS LIKE THE SHIFTER DOESN?T FULLY ENGAGE INTO 2ND. 6. TWICE WHILE ACCELERATING TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ON CLEAR, FLAT, DRY, AND SMOOTH PAVEMENT THE ADVANCTRAC SYSTEM ACTIVATED FOR NO REASON. IT STARTS BY VERY AGGRESSIVELY PULSING THE FRONT RIGHT BRAKE, FOLLOWED BY THE REAR LEFT BRAKE, THEN ALTERNATING BRAKES ALL THE WAY AROUND CAUSING THE CAR TO SWERVE ALMOST OUT OF CONTROL, AT HIGHER SPEEDS LIKE 65-70 IT PROBABLY WOULD CAUSE TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. THE ADVANCTRAC ALSO CUTS ENGINE POWER ALONG WITH THE HARD SWERVING MAKES IT EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO AVOID A CRASH IN MULTIPLE LANE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THIS LAST FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS, BUT IT IS 15 SECONDS OF OUT OF CONTROL HIGHWAY TERROR. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR ON THE 2 OCCASIONS IT THEN DRIVES FOR A WHILE LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED. WHEN THE FORD DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND IT DOES NOT RECORD ANY ERROR OR DIAGNOSTIC CODES IN THE CARS COMPUTER SYSTEM. SO FORD SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT GO INTO 1ST, 5TH AND 6TH GEAR. FORD REPLACED 2000 DOLLARS WORTH OF EQUIPMENT IN MY MUSTANG AND IT IS MUCH WORSE THAN BEFORE. *TR
I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY UPSHIFTING GEARS 2 TO 3 AND 3 TO 4 AND I AM AT TIMES UNABLE TO DOWNSHIFT WHICH HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHER VEHICLES AND IT'S DISTRACTION TO ME DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN MY MUSTANG TO WINTER HAVEN FORD DEALER AND DESCRIBED IN DETAIL THE ISSUES I AM HAVING, THEY SAID THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH MY TRANSMISSION, I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL OTHER MUSTANGS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND HAVE NEVER HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS. I HAVE ASKED OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2011 MUSTANGS AND EVERYBODY SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT
2011 MUSTANG GT WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION- INABILITY TO SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS I WAS STUCK SLOWING DOWN INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS BEEN IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES. ALSO HAS SEVERE KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE THAT GOES WAY AFTER 5 MINUTES. FORD STATES THIS IS PISTON RATTLE AND THEY TRIED A SOFTWARE FIX. NOTHING HELPED.I'M AFRAID OF THE ENGINE DAMAGE OR CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE YOUTUBE VIDEOS POSTED LABELED 2011 MUSTANG KNOCK. FORD IS AWARE... THEY REFERRED ME TO IT(AT LEAST THE SERVICE TECH DID. FORD IS DOING NOTHING!!! THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5-6 TIMES AND THERE IS UNDER 5000 MILES. THE CAR HAD ONLY 300 MILES ON IT WHEN THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK PUMP BECAUSE IT DROPPED TO ZERO AT WITH A HALF TANK OF GAS LEFT. THERE IS A BULLETIN ON THIS. HELP BEFORE SOME GETS HURT BY THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM OR THE ENGINE BLOWING OUT!!!! *TR
