The contact was informed that the steering rack column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline and report the failure. The contact referenced an unknown recall repair which had a similar failure description, however the contact's VIN was not associated with the unknown recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
