The back end frame has completely rusted out, while the cab frame is in perfect condition. I have read about everyone that has a ranger from 1995-200 has had this issue. My truck only has 127k miles on it and has been kept in wonderful condition, and the bed frame has made it unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that the entire subframe of the vehicle was corroded and was cracking and disintegrating. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

FRAME IS ROTTED WITH ONLY 75,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. SEEMS AS TRUCK WILL BREAK IN HALF
THE FRAME IS ROTTING AWAY.THE BED IS ABOUT TO FLY OFF,AND I FEAR THE REAR BUMPER,AND SPARE IS ALSO.THE TRUCK IS STILL RUNNING GOOD,BUT I AM VERY HESITENT ABOUT USING IT.
RUST ON FRAME, RADIATOR SUPPORT AND UNDER CARRIAGE.
FRAME AND CROSSMEMBERS HAVE SEVERE FLAKING RUST AND FRAME ROT ON REAR SECTION OF FRAME BEHIND THE CAB. LEAF SPRING BRACKETS BROKE AND RIPPED OUT OF FRAME THIS SECTION HAS BEEN REPLACED APX 2 YEARS AGO. BACK SPARE TIRE REAR CROSSMEMBER HAS RUSTED COMPLETELY OUT AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPLACED. BED SUPPORT CROSSMEMBERS ALL RUSTED ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT LEAVING BED WEAK. THIS IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPLACED. GAS TANK CROSS MEMBER HAS RUSTED OUT AROUND BOTTOM OF MOUNT AND ALSO UP THE INSIDE OF THE FRAME RAILS. GAS TANK HOLDING STRAPS ARE IN PROCESS OF RUSTING OUT AND BREAKING. THESE ARE BEING REPLACED.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND ONLY NOTICED HOW SEVERE THE RUST WAS AFTER THE PURCHASE. MY VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY RUSTED ON THE BOTTOM AND HAS SEVERAL RUST HOLES ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. KNOWING THAT AT ANY MOMENT ONE BUMP COULD FINISH THE JOB AND BLOW THE FRAME OFF IS NOT GREAT. A RECALL FOR THE EXTREME RUST DAMAGE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED SINCE I HAVE NO OTHER WAY TO FIX THIS.

UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF SEVERAL ISSUES PERTAINING TO THE REAR, DRIVER, AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE SUBFRAME, INCLUDING SEVERE CORROSION TO THE SPARE TIRE SUPPORT AND THE FUEL TANK STRAP WAS FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED SEVERE FRAME AND UNDERBODY RUST FOR SEVERAL YEARS; DURING LAST INSPECTION MECHANIC CAUTIONED THAT VEHICLE WAS BADLY RUSTED BUT STILL ABLE TO PASS INSPECTION. I VISUALLY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THIS EVENING AND FOUND SEVERE DELAMINATION TO FRAME MEMBERS AND SEVERE RUSTING OF BED UNDERFRAME. CROSSMEMBER SUPPORTING BED IS RUSTED THROUGH OR NON-EXISTENT IN APPROXIMATELY 40% OF SURFACE AREA. SHOCK ABSORBER MOUNTS, LEAF SPRING MOUNTS, FUEL TANK SUPPORTS, AND FUEL LINES SIGNIFICANTLY RUSTED. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO REAR BRAKE LINES FAILED AT LOW SPEED AND VEHICLE NEARLY COLLIDED WITH PARKED CARS AND ADJANCENT STONE WALL. MECHANIC ATTRIBUTED BRAKE FAILURE TO RUST THROUGH OF REAR BRAKE SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND IS STILL OWNED BY ORIGINAL OWNER. VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED SINCE NEW AND PROPERLY CARED FOR. *TR
