POWER SEATS SHORTED OUT, CAUSING A FIRE.VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
AIR BAG INDICATION LIGHT WOULD NOT CUT OFF DURING TRAVELING . DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS GONE OUT BECAUSE OF THE COMPRESSOR. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
GEARS WILL NOT SHIFT ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION CABLE HAS DETERIORATED. DEALER SAID PARTS WERE NO LONGER MANUFACTURED. *AK
FUEL INJECTION- CAR STALLS, WON'T ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. WIPERS- STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD, VISIBILITY HAMPERED. WHEELS- MAKING A SQUEEKING NOISE, WHEN INSPECTED FOUND LARGE CRACKS. OWNERS MANUAL WAS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE CAR. MOTOR MOUNTS KEEP BREAKING. SPARE WHEEL/TIRE THAT CAME WITH VEHICLE WAS RUSTED, PARTS OF THE JACK MISSING. POWER STEERING FLUID PUMP WAS CRACKED/LEAKING, HAD TO BE REPLACED. AIRCONDITIONER COMPRESSOR DID NOT WORK, BELT CONNECTED TO THE ALTERNATOR WOULD NOT MOVE, SO CAR WOULD NOT START. BRAKE CYLINDER LEAKING FLUID ONTO BRAKES. HOOD WILL NOT STAY UP.
I BROUGHT MY CAR INTO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL SERVICE TO REPLACE THE "SUB-FRAME REAR PLATE NUT". WHILE FIXING THE RECALL MATTER, THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ENGINE MOUNTS WERE BAD, AND THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF MOVEMENT IN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, SOMETIMES RESULTING IN A "CLUNKING" NOISE BEING HEARD WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR PARK. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE MOUNTS SHOULD BE REPLACED AND WOULD COST ME $343.70. A FEW YEARS AGO, I HAD NOTICED THE MOVEMENT IN THE ENGINE WHEN THE CAR WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK OR REVERSE, AND HAD ASKED MY LOCAL GARAGE MECHANIC ABOUT IT. HE TOLD ME THE MOUNTS ON THE TAURUS WERE NOTORIOUSLY BAD, BUT MY PARTICULAR CAR WAS NOT COVERED BY A FORD RECALL. I DID NOT PURSUE REPLACING THE MOUNTS AT THAT TIME. HOWEVER, NOW THAT THIS RECALL NOTICE ON THE FRAME CAME OUT, I HAVE LOOKED AT MATERIAL AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET, AND SEE THAT THERE WAS A GENERAL RECALLFOR ENGINE MOUNT DETERIORATION ON THIS CAR IN MARCH 92. (92M77) I DO NOT THINK I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF THAT RECALL. SINCE I DRIVE MY 3 KIDS AROUND IN THIS CAR, I TRY TO KEEP IT AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE AND DETERIORATING ENGINE MOUNTS IS A RECALL NOTICE I WOULD HAVE PURUSED. IN ANY EVENT, I CALLED THE DEALER (CENTURY FORD IN ROCKVILLE, MD) TODAY ASKING ABOUT THE ENGINE MOUNT DETERIORATION RECALL AND WHETHER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT AND REAR ENGINE MOUNTS SHOULD ALSO BE TAKEN CARE OF AT NO COST TO ME. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PARAMETERS OF THAT RECALL WERE IN EFFECT ONLY FOR 60,000 MILES OR 6 YEARS. THEY SAID MY CURRENT MILEAGE, ABOUT 69,000, PUTS MY CAR OUTSIDE THAT LIMIT AND THEREFORE FORD WOULD NOT PAY THEM TO DO THAT WORK. (I.E. I MUST PAY.) I HAVE SINCE CALLED FORD AND ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS SITUATION AND THEY JUST SAID THEY'D DO NOTHING. I THINK THE DETERIORATION OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS SOUNDS LIKE A WELL-KNOWN (TO FORD, ANYWAY) PROBLEM ON THIS CAR AND SEEMS STRUCTURALLY TO BE INTRINSICALLY RELATED TO THIS OTHER RECALL ON THE SUB FRAME, AND POSSIBLY CAUSED BY IT.
THERE IS A NOISE DUE TO ENGINE MOUNTS COMING LOOSE. DEALER SAID ENGINE MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
AFTER COMING TO A LIGHT AT AN INCLINE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AND ALLOWED THE CAR TO START TO ROLL BACKWARDS INSTEAD OF GAS BEING APPLIED AND GOING FORWARD. VEHICLE NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION. *AK
THE ENGINE STALLED WHEN HOT AND CUT BACK ON AFTER COOLING. LAST TIME VEHICLE STALLED, AN ENGINE FIRE BROKE OUT. DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVINHG ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURNING TO THE LEFT, STEERING BECOMES STIFF AND STICKS. DEALER CAN'T FIND PROBLEM. *AK
FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS ARE CORRODED AND RUSTED WHICH HAS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO RISE WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WE READ IN THE PAPER THAT THIS PROBLEM HAD BEEN REPORTED TO THE NHSTA. THE WIPERS MOTOR IN THIS VEHICLE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE INTERMITENT WIPER DOES NOT WORK.
HAVING TROUBLE WITH WEBSITE; PROBLEM IS WITH DEFECTIVE PAINT ON CAR EXTERIOR. PAINT ON HOOD/ROOF/SIDE MIRRORS LOOKS LIKE IT WAS RUBBED OFF. PAINT ON THE ROOF APPEARS THIS WAY IN 3 WIDE VERTICAL SECTIONS. I BEGAN TO NOTICE THAT OTHER TAURUS CARS ALSO SEEMED TO BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT. PLEASE IGNORE SECTIONS REGARDING CRASH/FIRE, ETC. WEB PAGE GAVE ME PROBLEMS ON THIS SECTION OF THE FORM.
CONSUMER OWNS 2 FORD TAURUS VEHICLES, A 1990 AND A 1994, BOTH TRANSMISSIONS HAVE FAILED. *ET
WHEN YOU PUT TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE 2 OUT OF 4 TIMES THE VEHICLE WILL START TO SHAKE AS IF THE BRAKES WERE ON AND YOU ARE TRING TO GIVE IT GAS AND THEN THE VEHICLE SHOOTS BACKWARDS. *AK
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO MOVE UP WHEN ACCELERATING AND UPWARD WHEN IN REVERSE. *ET
WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN STARTED IGNITION SWITCH BECOMES HOT. WOULD TAKE SOMETIME BEFORE IT BECOMES VERY HOT. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 3 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM & EACH TIME THE MECHANIC COULD NOT LOCATE CAUSE OF OVERHEATING OF THE IGNITION SWITCH.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS THEMSELVES OFF IN THE UP POSITION. HAVE TO PUSH ON WIPERS WHILE TURNING THE WIPERS ON AND OFF TO GET THEM TO LIE DOWN IN THE PROPER POSITION.

WHEN VEHICLE SWITCHED FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR, IT SURGED FORWARD SUDDENLY. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE, AND CANT FIND A SOLUTION. *AK
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE & STARTED TO MAKE RIGHT TURN, VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE. ALSO MADE CLICKING NOISE. HUSBAND CHECKED UNDER VEHICLE & NOTICED TRANSMISSION MOUNTS WERE BROKEN. WOULD NEED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. AT DEALERSHIP, MECHANIC INDECATED STRUTS WERE GONE &ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*AK
MOTOR KEEPS SHUTTING OFF
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE DIES. ALL POWER IS LOST. SOMETIMES IT WILL RESTART AFTER A FEW MINTUES. MOST OF THE TIME VEHCLE HAS TO BE TOWED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR 3 YEARS. DEALERSHIP IS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM. DIFFERENT PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM CONTINUES.*AK
VEHICLE HAS HAD SEVERAL IGNITION COMPONENT FAILURES WHICH RESULTED IN VEHICLE STALLING. *SLC
WHILE TRAVELING AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION VEHICLE WOULD STALL, IGNITION SWITCH BECAME HOT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES WITHIN A 1 YEAR PERIOD. TRANSMISSION HAS BURNED OUT EACH TIME. WHEN STOPPING THE VEHICLE JERKS & CUTS OFF. CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE. *AK
THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES, ONCE WITHIN A YEAR AND THREE TIMES WITHIN 6 MONTHS. *CJ
DURING RECALL REPAIR 94E-036 THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND REQUIRES ADDITIONAL TIME FOR REPAIR, THE CONSUMER WAS CHARGED FOR RENTAL CAR INSURANCE DURING REPAIR OF DAMAGED COMPONENT, OWNER IS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND RECALL REPAIR. NLM
HEAD GASKET FAILED AND ALLOWED COOLANT INTO CYLINDER #4 WHICH RESULTED IN OVERHEATING, TIMING COVER ERRODED CAUSING THE CRANKCASE COOLANT TO BECOME COMTAMINATED. *SLC
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD CONTINUAL PROBLEMS WITH STALLING, SEVERAL REPAIRS COMPLETED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY TO RECTIFY THE STALLING, HOWEVER ALL HAVE FAILED, THE DEALERSHIP HAS IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS BEING THE IGNITION MODULE, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET DUE THE PARTS BEING ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. *MJS
CONSUMER STATES WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 30 MPH SHE LOSES CONTROL OF VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO DEALERSHIP AND UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A PRECISION ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE PERFORMED ON THE THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BECAUSE THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE PART, CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, THIS INDICATES A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT, THEREFORE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS NEEDED TO RESOLVE PROBLEM. *JB
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING, ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS ALLOWED TO COOL OFF THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS FAILURE IS RELATED TO THE TFI MODULE WHICH WAS RECALLED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. WHILE DRIVING, CONSUMER CONSTANTLY HAS TO STEER TO LEFT TO KEEP VEHICLE IN LINE. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE THE DESIGN FOR THE POWER STEERING IS POOR, THE PUMP IS IN THE RIGHT FORWARD CORNER OF THE ENGINE AND THE HOSES GOING TO THE RACK AND PINION GO OVER THE FWD EXHAUST MANIFOLD, PASS OVER THE TRANSAXLE, AND THEN PASS OVER THE AFTER EXHAUST MANIFOLD. *JB

THIS CAR HAS HAD A LOT OF WORK DONE TO IT.IT NEVER WORKS RIGHT. IT HAS HAD OVERHEATING PROBLEMS,THERE HAS BEEN OVER 5000.00 PUT TOWARDS IT TO FIX &IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING.I HAVE TAKEN IT TO OVER 5 MECHANICS IN THE PAST 7 MONTHS ALSO THE HEATER HAS NEVER WORKED THE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT SEVERAL TIMES TO FIX. I THINK THIS CAR IS A LEMON!!!!!!!!!I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A FORD AGAIN. THE MONEY I HAVE SPENT ON THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED AS A DOWN PAYMENT ON ANOTHER ONE.DEFINATELY A LEMON. *AK
