WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES DURING MODERATE TO HARD STOPS THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOORBOARD. IS VERY SPONGY AND CONTINUES TO FADE. THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE SEPTEMEBER OF 97. THE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. INSERTS HAVE BEEN PUT INTO THE CALIPERS, BUT BRAKING PROBLEM CONTINUES. *AK

RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE (#97V02500). CALLED DEALER & MADE APPOINTMENT. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR APPOINTMENT. AFTER ARRIVING, WAS INFORMED THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. ALSO THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS ONLY WORK ON MAXIMUM, LOWER SETTINGS DO NOT WORK. ALSO WIPERS FAIL COMPLETELY DURING STORMS. (QCAW)
WHILE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE ACTIVATED AND THE TURN SIGNAL IS IN USE, THE WIPERS SHORT CIRCUIT WHICH CAN POSSIBLE CAUSE VISUAL DIFFICULTY AND MAY RESULT IN A CRASH. DEALER REPLACED WIPER SYSTEM, BUT PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

I JUST REPORTED TO YOU ABOUT A REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE HEAD GASKETS ON OUR ENGINE BACK IN 1997 AT 95470 MILES AND NOW WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES 4 YEARS LATER AT 157963 MILES. WE FEEL AS THOUGH FORD SHOULD BE STANDING BY THIS ENGINE AND THE COST BECAUSE THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPAIR AND REPLACE HEAD GASKETS ON THEIR ENGINES EVERY FOUR YEARS. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT FORD BUT THEY ARE NOT ONLY NOT WILLING BUT ALSO DO NOT RETURN ANY CALLS TO US ON THIS MATTER. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HAVE SOME HELP IN HAVING FORD STAND FOR THEIR PRODUCTS. I ALSO AM AWARE OF A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS ON THEIR 1994-1995 ENGINES; WILL WHAT ABOUT US THAT HAVE THE 1993 DOING THE SAME! PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU! *AK
AFTER VEHICLE IS READY TO BE SHUT DOWN/TURNED OFF BY DRIVER; CAN TURN IGNITION INTO OFF POSITION AND PULL KEY OUT, YET VEHICLE WILL STILL BE RUNNING. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. PLEASE DESCRIBE. *AK

PE97035;THE DEFECTIVE FRONT SUSPENSION COIL SPRING BROKE OFF, CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. *AK
WHILE CONSUMER IS DRIVING VEHICLE WILL START TO STUMBLE AND HESITATE FOR A FEW MINTUES. THEN, VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. THIS PROBLEM WILL ONLY HAPPEN IN THE SUMMER. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *AK
VEHICLE STALLS IN HOT WEATHER AT ANY SPEED, ANY TIME. HAS STALLED AT LEAST 20 TIMES, DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP.*AK
ANTI LOCK BRAKE SENSOR FAILED RESULTING IN BRAKES LOCKING UP.
ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT WITHOUT WARNING. FEELS THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED TO BE NORMAL FOR THIS CODITION. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND WILL NOT REPAIR UNLESS COST IS CHARGED TO THE CONSUMER. *AK
ACCELERATOR CABLE BROKE, WHILE ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC, NEXT TO THE MOLDED PLUG THAT CONNECT TO THE ARM OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.

TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION WHILE THERE WAS INFORMED THAT BOTHFRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE CRACKED & NEEDED REPLACEMENT BEFORE VEHICLE COULD PASS INSPECTION. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL ON HER VEHICLE. SHE CONTACTED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO REMEDY THE DEFECT, AND THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. *AK
LOOSE FRONT TENSION STRUT BUSHING TO BALL JOINT, DUE TO WELD FAILURE.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. *AKWHEN DEALER HAS PUT VEHICLE TO THE COMPUTER, IT SHOWS THAT NOTHING IS WRONG. *SLC
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING 45MPH THE VEHICLE WILL STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. TOOK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE PROBLEM. *AK

CYLINDER HEAD GASKET FAILED RESULTING IN LEAKAGE OF COOLANT. NLM

THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE RECALL ACCORDING TO FORD, BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATES BY ITSELF NOW WITHOUT PRESSING THE BUTTONSL. *AK
HORN LOCATION ON STEERING WHEEL IS NOT EASILY ACCESSIBLE. EYES WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE ROAD TO LOCATE HORN IN ORDER TO BLOW IT. DEALER SAID MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN. *AK
CONSUMER'S COMPLAINT CONCERNED THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET FAILURE FOR VEHICLE 2.8L. CURRENT ENGINE GASKET PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS THE RECALL FOR THE 1994 & 1995 ENGINE GASKET DEFECTS. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
STEERING FELT CLUNKY DURING NORMAL TURNING. PER A SERVICE BULLETIN, SPACERS WERE REQUIRED TO BE INSTALLED ON TOP OF THE STRUT BEARING.
ENGINE HEADGASKET WAS DIAGNOSED AS FAILED BY DEALER AT 52,207 MILEAGE AND 4 YEARS. ORIGINAL WARRANTY DID NOT COVER. OWNER REPLACE HEADGASKET AT OWN EXPENSE. FORD HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THIS ITEM BACK TO '94 MODELS BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM. HAVE BEEN TURNED DOWN BY THE DEALER AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *AK
TRANSMISSION: COULD NOT GET VEHICLE TO CHANGE GEARS. VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE THEN IT WOULD CHANGE INTO A FAST SPEED. AT SLOW SPEED THERE WAS NO REACTION, JUST LOSS OF POWER. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET HAD TO BE REPLACED @ 64K MILES AND NOW, 3 YEARS LATER, @ 96K MILES. SERVICE MGR @ DEALER SAID HEAD GASKETS SHOULD LAST 100K TO 150K MILES, BUT WOULD NOT FIX SECOND HEAD GASKET FAILURE FOR FREE. FORD ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE (HEAD GASKET FAILURE. *AK
FORD HAS ISSUED RECALL ON DEFECTIVE HEAD GASKETS FOR THE 3.8L V-6 ENGINE, BUT HAS NOT INCLUDED THE MODEL YEAR 1993. THE RECALL REPORTEDLY INVOLVED OVER 800,000 VEHICLES WITH THIS ENGINE. THE RECALL WAS ONLY MADE AFTER A CLASS ACTION SUIT WAS FILED. I AM INTERESTED IN THE NUMBER OF HEAD GASKET FAILURES ON NON-RECALLED MODEL YEARS!!*AK

I HAD NO RESOLUTION ON TIE RODS FROM DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, AND CURRENTLY WITH THE FAILED HEAD GASKET AT ONLY 48,000 MILES, DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW OF ANY PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL TAURUS. I DID FIND THIS PROBLEM WITH TIE RODS AND AND ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM ON SERVICE BULLETINS AT THIS WEB SITE. *AK
HEAD GASKETS HAVE BLOWN TWICE. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH THE STEERING: INNER TIE ROD SNAPPED COMPLETELY OFF, DISCONNECTING THE WHEEL, CAUSE THE FUEL LINE TO BREAK OPEN. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
COIL SPRING FAILED.
TRANSMISSION/ TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKED UP. TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SERVICED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES, AND PROBLEM HAS BEEN DISCUSSED, IT CANNOT BE DUPLICATED. NO WARRANTY ON VEHICLE. WHEN STARTING AND STOPPING, TAKING OFF THE TRANSMISSION FEELS AS IF IT IS TRYING TO CATCH. *AK
VEHICLE OWNER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD, CONTACTED DEALER APRIL 29, 1997, WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO PARTSVAILABLE. DEALER EXPECTED PARTS WITHIN 1 WEEK, CONTACTED DEALER AGAIN ON MAY 13, 1997, WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE PARTS WOULD BE IN. VEHICLE STALLED, OWNER NOT SURE IF RECALL RELATED. RECIEVED RECALL NOTICE 97 V 025 000 FUEL THROTTLE IN APRIL, AND CONTACTED DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL WILL BE IN IN TWO WEEKS, BUT DEALER HAS NOT CONTACTED OWNER AND IT HAS BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE OWNER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. DEALER WILL NOT RETURN CALLS, AND THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. *AK
SHE HAS CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT HER CRUISE CONTROL RECALL, AND IT HAS BEEN SIXTY DAYS AND THE DEALERSHIP STILL DOESN'T HAVE THE RECALLED PART. *AK
FRONT COIL SPRINGS FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE CAUSING DAMAGE TO STRUTS AND BUSHINGS.
