I HAD TO REPLACE 2 TRANSMISSIONS ON THIS VEHICLE AND ONE HEAD GASKET. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS REIMBURSEMENT AVAILABLE FOR 94 AND LATER TAURUS'S FOR THE HEADGASKET. HOWEVER, 93'S SHOULD ALSO BE COVERED.

MY VEHICLE FREQUENTLY STALLS IN TRAFFIC. I BELIEVED THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS THE CULPRIT AND REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR (3 TIMES) AND CLEANED THE INJECTORS TWICE. ALL AT MY COST AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE IN MOTION. I READ ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA COURT CASE WHICH IDENTIFIED THE THICK FILM MODULE AS AN IGNITION SYSTEM PART THAT TENDS TO OVERHEAT AND CAUSE THE FORD AUTOMOBILE TO STALL. THIS COULD BE MY PROBLEM BUT FORD HAS NEVER EVEN SUGGESTED SUCH TO ME. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE BEFORE IT STALLS AGAIN AND CAUSES A CRASH.

WHENEVER WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE TURNED OFF THEY WOULD REMAIN IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THEY DO NOT LAY DOWN IN A NORMAL POSITION. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. HAS BEEN TO DEALER & HAD MECHANIC REPLACE THE MOTOR. WINDSHIELD WIPER PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IN ARKANSAS THAT IT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR SAFETY RECALL 98V-323, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE PROBLEM ONLY CONCERNS VEHICLE REGISTERED IN THE SALT BELT. NLM
HEAD GASKET HAS BLOWN OUT AT 53,000 MILES, CAUSING DAMAGE TO 3.8 LITER ENGINE. VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. *AK
THE HEAD GASKETS AND MOTOR MOUNTS REQUIRED REPAIR, DUE TO THESE FAILURES THE ANTI FREEZE WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE, CONSUMER WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE DUE TO LEAKING. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE ENGINE BEING DEFECTIVE TO EXPERIENCE THESE FAILURES PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE REACHING 20,000. *MJS
CAR STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. WILL RESTART IN 10 MIN. FUEL PUMP REPLACED X2, PUMP RELAY X1. DEALER NO HELP. *AK
1ST REPAIR WAS UNDER WARRANTY, NEW PART LASTED UNDER 2 YEARS, NEXT REPLACEMENT WAS JUST UNDER $ 400 AND IT WAS WOBBLY, BUT COULDN'T BE ADJUSTED ANY BETTER. NEW CABLES WERE PUT IN, THE 2ND TIME, THE THIRD TIME, A USED CABLE WORKED BETTER THAN A NEW ONE. ALSO WE HAD OUR MECH. INSTALL A USED SPEEDOMETER, AS THE COST WAS PROHIBITIVE, AND THE DEALER WASN'T ABLE TO FULLY CORRECT THE PROBLEM ANYWAY. HOW CAN A CAR EAT SPEEDOMETERS ANYWAY? THE TICKING SOUND WAS SO IRRITATING, AND THE NEEDLE WAVERD SO MUCH YOU COULDN'T TELL YOUR SPEED. THAT IS UNSAFE, AND UNREASONABLE.
EXHAUST BETWEEN MUFFLER AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS COME APART BECAUSE THERE WERE NO CLAMPS, AND FUMES COULD ENTER INTO PASSENGER'S COMPARTMENT.THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS TO OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE. *AK
HEAD GASKETS ON THE 3.8L ENGINE BLEWOUT, CAUSING OIL TO LEAK. FORD HAS ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON HEAD GASKETS ON 1994-1995 VEHICLES. *AK
CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT RECALL 98V323000/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 98S36 CONCERNING SUBFRAME CORROSSION. DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR DUE TO IT HAVING A SALVAGED/REBUILT TITLE.*AK THE DEALER'S REFUSED TO DO RECALL JOB MADE THE VEHICLE UNSAFE FOR THE CONSUMER. *YH
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, CONSUMER WAS ADVISED TO LET THE VEHICLE COOL OFF AND TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE A/C ON, CONSUMER DID THIS IN 103 DEGREE WEATHER, MECHANIC IS UNSURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NLM
FRONT SEAT BELT LATCH BROKE ON BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSANGER SIDE. THE SPRING THAT THAT OPERATES THE BUTTON TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE BELTS BROKE AND YOU CANNOT USE SEAT BELTS BECAUSE THE LATCH WILL NOT HOLD THE BUCKLE AS YOU FTRY TO LOCK IT ON. WHEN I WENT TO FORD ABOUT THIS, THEY SAID IT WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM AND THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THEM. I HAD TO PURCHASE A COMPLETE SET OF SIX NEW LATCHES FOR THE CAR AS THEY DID NOT SELL INDIVIDUAL LATCHES. THIS IS CRAZY AS A SEAT BELT IS A MANDATORY SAFETY ITEM AND IN NY YOU WILL RECEIVE A POLICE SUMMONS FOR NOT WEARING THEM. THIS ITEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY FORD AT NO CHARGE. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED OCCURRANCE AS MY EX-WIFE HAS A 1989 TAURUS AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND SHE HAD THE SAME RESULTS WITH FORD. WE BOTH HAD TO PURCHASE FULL SETS OF SEAT BELT LATCHES TO REPLACE INOPERATIVE FRONT ONES. THIS CERTAINLY SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FORD TO PROVIDE SAFETY EQUIPMENT THAT IS MANDATORY TO USE. HOW COULD I OPERATE MY CAR IN NY OR ANYWHERE ELSE WITHOUT A SET OF OPERATING SEAT BELTS? I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR REPLY TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD HAS REFUSED TO RESPOND TO. THANK YOU

FOR THE PAST YEAR MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN STALLING. AT FIRST IT STARTED IN THE WINTER OF 2000 OCCASIONALLY, BUT WHEN THE SPRING HIT. IT WAS STALLING ALL THE TIME. I AM WRITING ABOUT THE PROBLEM THAT OCCURS WHILE WE ARE DRIVING OUR FORD TAURUS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CAR TURNS OFF WITH NO WARNING, AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHEN DRIVING AT 65-70 MPH IN HIGHWAY/EXPRESSWAY TRAFFIC AS WELL AS ON LOCAL STREETS AT 30 - 45 MPH. WE HAVE REPORTED THIS TO FORD AND TO FORD DEALERSHIP MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE SAID THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS SUCH AS THIS. WE HAVE TO OPEN THE HOOD AND LET THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COOL DOWN. WHEN THE COMPARTMENT COOLS DOWN THEN THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP AND RUNS UNTIL IT STOPS AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THE CAR JUST STOPS IN FRONT OF OTHER CARS AND WE HAVE TO TRY TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER OR GRASS OR WHATEVER IS THERE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ASAP. I NOTICE THAT OTHER TAURUS CARS HAVE THEIR HOODS OPEN WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING. I AM SURE THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY. OUR CAR HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE ABOUT 50,000 TO 55,000 MILES(1999) AND MAYBE BEFORE THAT BECAUSE WE BOUGHT IT USED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. WE HAVE A 1993 FORD TAURAS THAT WAS SERVICED FOR THIS PROBLEM IN 4/99. RECENTLY READ THAT FORD IS REIMBURSING CONSUMERS FOR THIS SERVICE. FORD MOTOR CO. IN MICHIGAN TELLS ME THAT WE ARE NOT ON THEIR "LIST" TO BE REIMBUSED??? DEALER TELLS ME ONLY '94 AND '95 MODELS APPLY BUT CAN NOT GIVE SPECIFICATIONS TO ME IN WRITING.....PLEASE HELP!*AK
MY 1993 TAURUS HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET AT 60000 MILES. FORD HAS RECALLED ALL 1994-1995 VEHICLES AND REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. WHY HAVEN'T THE 93 MODELS ALSO BEEN RECALLED & REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE? THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTERERS DEFECT AND ALL 3.8L ENGINES SHOULD BE FIXED. THEY ALSO GAVE THESE VEHICLES 7 YEAR, 100,000 MILE WARRANTY EXTENSIONS. ONCE AGAIN, WHY NOT THE 93 MODELS TOO?????? WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH VEHICLE WAS LEAKING GAS FROM GAS LINE UNDER VEHICLE. MECHANIC STATED THAT GAS LINE WAS PUNCTURED.*AK
