ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP AND APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AND CAUSE ENGINE RUNAWAY. CONSUMER HAD TO SHIFT GEAR TO NEUTRAL AND WAIT UNTIL OTHER VEHICLES WERE CLEAR BEFORE SHIFTING GEAR BACK TO DRIVE. AS SOON AS GEAR WAS CHANGED BACK TO DRIVE IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BURN RUBBER AND TAKE OFF. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY DEALER AND ROAD TESTED APPROXIMATELY A HUNDRED MILES AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. NEEDS NHTSA HELP OR PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER. *AK

FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT WHEN BEING USED BEGINS TO TIGHTEN UP ACROSS PASSENGER'S CHEST. DEALER HAS REPLACED THIS PART TWO TIMES, BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. *AK
GAS GAUGE INDICATOR MISREADS THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. GAUGE VARIES BY A HALF OF A TANK BETWEEN UPHILL AND DOWNHILL. WITH SIX GALLONS OF FUEL THE VEHICLE CAN RUN OUT OF FUEL WHILE GOING UP HILL OR WHEN PARKED ON AN INCLINE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK

WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING SPACE WITH DRIVER'S FOOT ON BRAKE, VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND WENT TO 5000 RPM. VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY DRIVEN FOR APPROX. 20 MIN. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVE. *AK *ML
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A UNKNOWN COLLISION, TRAVELING 40 MPH IN WHICH NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSING INJURIES TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OCCUPANT.ALSO, VEHICLE WA S TOTALED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
VEHICLE IS EMMITING A ODOR FROM THE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WHICH MAKES IT HARD FOR PASSENGERS TO BREATH. NLM
HAD JUST PARKED VEHICLE. WAS INFORMED THAT VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED & EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. HAD INDICATED THE FLAMES WERE CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLLED UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. DEALER REPLACED WIRING AND FUEL PUMP, ETC. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER HAS REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH, BUT PROBLEM REMAINS.*AK
STARTER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, AND THEY NEVER KNOW WHEN VEHICLE WILL START OR NOT. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER HAD REPLACED STARTER 5 TIMES.*AK
GAS GAUGE WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. IT WAS SHOWING THAT THERE WASN'T ANY GAS IN THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH TANK WAS HALF FULL. DEALER REPLACE GAS GAUGE. ALSO CONSUMER CAN CAN SMELL GAS FUMES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 55-65 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD BEGAN TO SHAKE, AND FUMES WOULD COME INTO THE CAR. *AK
FRONT ROTOR DEFECTIVE, PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL, STEERING COLUMN AND FRONT END VIBRATE AND PULSATE. THIS CREATES A LOSS OF CONTROL ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
TRANSMISSION WENT FROM DRIVE INTO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING AND LOCKED
ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR. WHILE DRIVING BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING NO BRAKING ABILITY.BRAKE PEDAL TO FLOOR, RESULTING IN A CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
TRANSMISSION SENSORS WERE REPLACED BUT THE TRANSMISSION STILL SLIPS AND CAR WILL REV TO HIGH RPMS, WHILE APPLYING THE BREAK THE STEEING WHEEL SHAKES, AND WHEN YOU LET OFF THE ACCELARATOR, THE CAR DOES NOT SLOW DOWN. *AK

VEHICLE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED ON HIGHWAY. CAR WILL ACCELERATE WHEN GOING DOWN HILL. THIS HAPPENS WITH AND WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN CRUISE IS SET TO 65 MPH CAR WILL ACCELREATE TO 90 MPH GOING DOWN A HILL. DEALER SAYS THIS IS PART OF THE DESIGN?? HAVE TO RIDE THE BRAKES ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND COSTLY IN BRAKE JOBS. *AK
NEW VEHICLE REQUIRED NEW RACK AND PINION STEERING, WHICH CAUSED NOISE, THE BRAKES REPLACED WHICH WERE CAUSING VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE BRAKING. *MJS
DRIVER REPORTED FUEL GUAGE STUCK ON FULL. WHEN TAKEN TO DEALER, REPAIR ORDER SHOWS INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL GUAGE REPLACED, BUT WHEN TESTED FUEL GUAGE STILL INOP. REPAIR ORDER SHOWS FINALLY TESTING FOUND "MISSING FFV SENSOR MODULE". INSTALLED MODULE. REPAIR ORDER ALSO SHOWS "WIRING DIAGRAM WAS INCORRECT". *AK
CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO FILL TANK TO READ FULL, IT WLWAYS CUT OFF. DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP, AND FILLER CAP. CURRENTLY, VEHICLE WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FILLING GAS TANK. FUEL WILL SPILL ON CONSUMER AND GROUND. ALSO THERE IS A HIGH PITCHED SOUND WHEN DRIVING, DEALER CLAIMS HE CANNOT HEAR THAT. *AK
DRIVING ON LOCAL ROAD VEHICLE LOST POWER TO THE STEERING. CONTACTED DEALER NOW FOR THE 9TH TIME THEY REBUILT THE POWER STEERING PUMP. IT BROKE AFTER 3 DAYS. IT IS BACK AT THE DEALER.*AK
I JUST PURCHASES A NEW 1999 4-DOOR FORD TAURUS SE ON 5/3/99. I SENT THE CAR BACK TO BE REPAIRED TO THE MANUFACTURER 2 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I AM MEETING WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER STEPHEN DINGER SOMETIME THIS WEEK TO HAVE HIM COME ALONG FOR A TEST DRIVE TO WITNESS FIRST HAND THE SHAKING OF THE FRONT END. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A TIRE PROBLEM, AND THAT THE TECHNICIANS HAVE REPAIRED THE PROBLEM, BUT THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL STILL SHAKES QUITE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER 60MPH. CAN YOU HELP ME WITH ANY ADVISE ON HOW TO GO ABOUT GETTING OUT OF THE LEASE OR HAVING THE MANUGFACTURER SOMEHOW GIVE US A NEW VEHICLE SEEING THAT THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE JUST A TIRE BALANCE PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN YO SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR BRAKE FLUID BEIGN LOW IT IS A HALF TANK LOW NOW AND WAS IN SHOP IN DEC 2001TODAY IS 1-19-02 THE DEALER TELS ME THAT TAURUS,S USE BRAKE FLUID AS THE BRAKE PADS WEAR DOWN THIS CAR HAS USED AT LEAST 3 PINTS SINCE NEW .THAT IS MY BEST GUESS AS THE DEALER HAS ALWASE ADDED IT. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A CAR USING BRAKE FLUID AS THE PADS WEAR DOWN .I JUST TALKED TO MY INSURANCE AGENT WHO DRIVES A SABLE HE SAID HE HAS NEVER ADDED BRAKE FLUID TO IT TILL HE AND HIS BROTHER DID A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB ON IT AT 100.000 MILES .HELP PLEASE

INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE WILL SURGE/LUNGE FORWARD WHILE IN GEAR WHEN STOPPED IN IDLE WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM(4/22/99 & 6/10/99). THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. *CJ
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON WET PAVEMENT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY, CONSUMER REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS, VEHICLE WILL SHIFT TO A HIGHR GEAR AND GIVE ITSELF GAS WITH NO DRIVER INPUT. TRANSMISSION SNAPS AT LOW SPEED SHIFTS, IT POPS AND BANGS. WIPERS ACTIVATE FOR NO REASON INTERMITTENTLY. *SLC
CAR STALLED DURING ACCELLERATION AND WOULD NOT RESTART. TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALER. DAY AFTER WAS INFORMED THAT THE GAS GUAGE FAILED AND IS STUCK AT HALF A GALLON BUT CAR DID NOT HAVE ANY GAS. ALSO WAS TOLD THAT FUEL PUMP FAILED. NO WARNING INDICATIONS WHATSOEVER PRIOR TO CAR STALLING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND IS CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD.

REMOVED FOOT FROM GAS PEDAL VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN.VEHICLE KEPT AT THE SPEED AS IF ON CRUISE, WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE I DO NOT HAVE CRUISE ON MY VEHICLE.
WHEN LETTING THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DOWN A LITTLE, THE WINDOW WILL GO ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND CONSUMER HAS TO PRESS A BUTTON TO GET WINDOWS BACK UP. *AK
AFTER TRAVELING VARIOUS DISTANCES VEHICLE WILL NOT START ONCE IT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. VEHICLE RUNS ROUGH AND MAKES NOISES. *AK
DESIGN FLAW OF THE GAS TANK ASSEMBLY CAUSING CONSUMER TO OVERFILL TANK ALSO TANK REGISTERS IMPROPER GAS TANK INDICATION, REPAIRED ON ONE OCCASION HOWEVER CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. *MJS
POSSIBLE DESIGN FLAW WHEN VEHICLE WILL NOT DECELERATE AFTER TAKING FOOT OF THE GAS PEDAL. HOWEVER, EITHER IN FORWARD / REVERSE, VEHICLE EXPERIENCE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN COLLISION. *YC
WHEN COASTING VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE FEBRUARY 1999. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS CONDITION. *AK THE VEHICLE ALSO HOLDS RPM WHEN THE DRIVER TAKES FOOT OFF OF GAS AT 30-40 MPH, THAT IT IS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE TO ALLOW FOR THE RPM'S TO MAINTAIN AT A HIGH RATE WHEN RELEASING ACCELERATOR PEDAL, CONSUMER FEELS THE PROBLEMS ARE NOT RELATED. *YH
WHILE DRIVING AT 70MPH GOING DOWN A 5% GRADE, CAR WILL NOT HOLD IN CRUISE CONTROL. CAR GOES FROM 70 MPH TO 85 MPH WITHIN SECONDS ON STEEP GRADE. ALSO, BRAKES ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO GIVE GOOD BRAKING POWER. TAKEN TO 2 DEALERS, AND THEY SAID IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TAURUS. *AK
ENGINE FAILED, CAUSING A GROWLING NOISE WHILE IT IS COLD. YH
THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO FIRST GEAR OR WOULD SLIP AND NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR OR DOWN TO FIRST GEAR. NLM
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT WAS REAR ENDED BY CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. UPON IMPCT, DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
WHEN DRIVING IN LOW SPEED THE VEHICLE RACED REAL HIGH. CONSUMER HAD TO PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK IN ORDER FOR THE ENGINE TO STOP RACING HIGH. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED, AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE REPAIR SHOP ONCE. DEALER WANTS THE VEHICLE BACK IN THE SHOP TO DO SOME TESTING. *AK
BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO FLOOR WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC BRAKE ADJUSTMENT WAS NEEDED. BRAKES WERE REPAIRED. SINCE THEN, PROBLEM REAPPEARED. ALSO, CRUISE CONTROL WOULD BE SET AT A CERTAIN SPEED, BUT VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE AT A HIGHER SPEED; AND RIGHT SIDE SEAT BELT FAILS TO RETRACT BACK TO ORIGINAL POSITION. *AK
THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECCURRING PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT BRAKES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS 6 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE REPLACED THEM 6 MORE TIMES SINCE THE WARRANTY ENDED. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THEY SIMPLY SAY "IT NEEDS A BRAKE JOB" FOR $300.00 WHEN THAT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE PROBLEM. THE BRAKES VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM ALMOST ANY SPEED AND EMERGENCY BRAKING IS COMPROMISED RESULTING IN EXTREMLY LONG DISTANCES TO COME TO A STOP.*AK
