THEN 4MONTHS AGO I HAD THE SPEED SENSOR REPLACED RAN GOOD UNTIL DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY WHEN IT STARTING ACTING THE SAME WAY IT WAS BEFORE I GOT IT FIXED SO I JMOW ITS THE SPEED SENSOR AGAIN HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO FIX THIS CRAP BEFORE IT GETS RECALLED OR BEFORE SPMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT OR DIES
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT A LOW SPEED, DEER RAN OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I BRAKE TO STOP AND AT THAT TIME THE CAR SURGED AND ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED WHICH CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON. I PRESSED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECELERATE. I SUFFERED A LARGE HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED 54 STAPLES TO CLOSE THE WOUND. I SPENT OVER A WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL, INCLUDING AN ICU STAY. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND IS CAUSING INJURIES AND POSSIBLE DEATHS. *TR

SUBJECT VEHICLE IS A 1999 FORD TAURUS, MANUFACTURED IN SEPTEMBER, 1998. THE MILEAGE TRAVELED IS 111,000. I WAS PROCEEDING AT 20 TO 25 MPH BEHIND A LOGGING TRUCK. WE APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. I BRAKED. THE CAR CONTINUED TO PROCEED SLOWLY FORWARD, BUT THE ANTILOCK BRAKES ENGAGED AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL SLOWLY FORWARD. I HEARD A ROAR, AND THOUGHT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WERE MOVING THE CAR FORWARD, SO SLIPPED THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. THE RPM RACED TO 4000 TO 4500. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, THEN RE-STARTED. THE REMAINDER OF THE 15 MILE COMMUTE WAS UNEVENTFUL. THIS IS THE ROUTE I HAVE TRAVELED TO WORK FOR 14 YEARS. IT IS RURAL. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I CHECKED RECALL 98V204000. THE FIRE APPEARED TO BE LOCALIZED IN THE FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE POLICE WERE NOT NOTIFIED, BUT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IN WHICH I LIVE GOING 30 MPH, I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY. MY 11 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE BACK SEAT. SUDDENLY THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AFTER I TAPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THE MORE I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE THE FASTER THE CAR WOULD SPEED GOING FROM 30 MPH TO 70 MPH. I FLEW THROUGH A STOP SIGN ONTO A HEAVILY TRAVELED TRUCK ROUTE SLAMMING INTO A KIA SUV. THE OTHER PASSENGER BROKE RIBS, A DOG WAS EJECTED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND COULD HAVE KILLED PEOPLE. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED THE VEHICLE WAS THE CRASH ITSELF SPINNING MY CAR IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A TOTAL NIGHTMARE! BOTH CARS WERE DECLARED TOTALED. POLICE WERE AT THE SCENE AND I WAS NOT CITED. MY CAR WAS TOWED INTO MY DRIVEWAY. COURT CASE PENDING FOR SURCHARGE. *JB
DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE STREET IN WHICH I LIVE WITH CHILD IN BACK SEAT. I TAPPED THE BRAKE TO PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE FROM 30 MPH TO 60 MPH IN SECONDS. MY INTENTION WAS TO PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY BUT CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET AND ACCELERATED INTO A HEAVY TRUCK ROUTE GOING THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF AND THE OTHER VEHICLE. MY TAURUS SPUN OUT OF CONTROL FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE COLLISION STOPPED THE CAR FROM ACCELERATING. THE OTHER VEHICLE PASSENGER HAD BROKEN RIBS, BOTH CARS WERE TOTALED. POLICE WERE AT THE SCENE AND TOWED CAR INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS NOT CITED, OBVIOUS MALFUNCTION OF CAR. A HEARING IS PENDING DUE TO INSURANCE SURCHARGE. THESE CARS ARE VERY DANGEROUS AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND A FORD TAURUS TO ANYONE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *JB
CRUSIE CONTROL SWITCH STOPPED WORKING. DEALER SPENT AN HOUR FINDING PROBLEM WHICH HE SAID WAS CASUED BY SWITCH ON BRAKE PEDAL LOSING ADJUSTMENT.PAID $90.00 TO "ADJUST". SEVERAL MONTHS LATER SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED.
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR AND SHIFTER CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *NM

THE VEHICLE JUMPED AN EIGHT INCH CURB CROSSED A SIDEWALK AND A GRASSY AREA OF TWENTY FEET AND VIOLENTLY HIT A BRICK WALL. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO PLACE THE GEAR INTO PARK, TURN THE ENGINE OFF OR PULL THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. *JB

I DRIVE A 1999' FORD TAURUS. UPON ENTERING THE FREEWAY I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. CAR DOES NOT HAVE CRUISE CONTROL. I THOUGHT THAT THE ACCELERATOR CABLE WAS STICKING. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT FOR THE STICKY CABLE BUT FOUND OUT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CABLE. BETWEEN THEN AND NOW I HAVE GOTTEN THE PROBLEM FIXED FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE (PAID COUPLE OF HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH TIME) ,AND THE CAR WAS ACTING UP AGAIN(FOR THE THIRD TIME). THEN A FRIEND OF MINE REMINED ME OF THIS SHOW HE HAD SEEN WHERE PEOPLE HAD REPORTED THEIR TAURUS'S ACCELERATING SUDDENL,Y BUT FORD MOTOR CO. PASSED THE BUCK ON THE DRIVERS (THEY ACCIDENTLY MAY HAVE STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL). THIS WAS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE TAURUS AND I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT EACH TIME I GET AN UNSATISFACTORY ANSWER FROM THEM. *AK
WHEN PULLING UP TO A GAS PUMP OR INTO A PARKING SPACE CAR WILL ACCELERATE IN SHORT BURSTS. IT WILL DO THIS OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. FORD COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL A YEAR AFTER THE PURCHASE DATE.*AK
