TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HE NOTICED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING WAS FRACTURED AND DAMAGED THE TIRE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE COIL SPRING WAS FRACTURED. THERE IS CURRENTLY A DEFECT INVESTIGATION OPEN (NHTSA ACTION # PE05054). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 72,500. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED INVOICE FOR REPAIRS. UPDATED 06/19/07 *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE WHEN THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE RIGHT REAR SPRING WAS RUBBING AGAINST THE RIGHT TIRE. THEREFORE, BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REPORTS HAVING NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. UPDATED 6/16/2006 - *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE PRESENTED PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR COIL SPRINGS WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHOP, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR COIL SPRINGS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS MADE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING TIRES REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE, THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED THE REAR COIL SPRINGS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. UPDATED ON 05/30/2006. *AK *TS
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED. ON APRIL 27TH THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AFTERWARDS A VIBRATION WAS FELT, THERE WAS AN INTENSE RATTLE AND A NOISE WAS HEARD WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INSISTED THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING HAD IN FACT FRACTURED DURING THE ACCIDENT. ON JUNE 3RD WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT THE PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE ON THE STRUT THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME. THE CONTACT JACKED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING HAD FRACTURED IN HALF. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THE ORIGINAL REAR COIL SPRINGS WILL BREAK WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE REAR COIL SPRINGS, NHTSA ITEM NUMBER EA06002.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, AT 5 MPH, A LOUD POP WAS HEARD AND THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE COIL HAD FRACTURED. BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
I HAVE A 2001 FORD TAURUS SE THAT RECENTLY FRACTURED THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING WHICH PUNCTURED A HOLE IN THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I HAVE READ THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS AFFECTED A LARGE NUMBER OF OTHERS AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HAS OR WHAT IS BEING DONE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ALSO, WHAT AM I RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR? I HAVE NOT FIXED THE CAR, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT WILL PREVENT THE OTHER SIDE FROM DOING THE SAME IN THE EVENT THAT I MIGHT BE DRIVING. *JB

THE REAR COIL SPRING FRACTURED ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS. THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR WAS JUST OVER 55,000. THE FRACTURED SPRING ALSO CAUSED SERVER DAMAGE TO THE INSIDE ON THE TIRE, WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. *NM
(1) NORMAL DRIVING (2) NOTICED ON 4/13/06 THAT THE CAR WAS SITTING LOWER ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE IN COMPARISON TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR - UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE LEFT REAR (DRIVER SIDE) COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN AND APPROXIMATELY ONE INCH AWAY FROM THE TIRE (3) CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP 4/14/06 ABOUT THIS, THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO CORRECTIVE ACTIONS BEING TAKEN AT THIS TIME. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER AND SPOKE TO LYNDSAY HAWN ON 4/14/06, WHO ADVISED ME THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR ANYTHING THAT FORD WOULD DO TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. SHE ADVISED ME TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND KEEP MY RECEIPT FOR THE REPAIRS. *NM
MY 2001 FORD TAURUS BROKE A REAR STRUT SPRING AND IT CUT A GROOVE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE. THIS CAUSED A BLOW-OUT AND MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. WE HAVE A GRANDSON WHO RIDES IN A PERMANENT CAR SEAT IN THE REAR AND FORTUNATELY HE WAS NOT WITH HER AT THE TIME. THERE WAS A RECALL LAST YEAR FOR THE FRONT COIL-OVER STRUT SPRING AND WE HAD THE SHIELDS PUT ON BY A LOCAL FORD DEALER. WHY IS IT THAT THE REAR COIL-OVER STRUT SPRINGS WERE NOT SHIELDED OR REPLACED. THEY ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE FRONT SPRINGS AND CAN CAUSE JUST AS SEVERE AN ACCIDENT IF CUT DOWN, AS A TIRE IN THE FRONT IF YOU ARE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN AT A LOW SPEED. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT SINCE THE TAURUS IS A 2001 WITH ONLY 47,000 MILES ON IT. CAR IS USUALLY ONLY DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK A DISTANCE OF LESS THAN 3 MILES. OTHER TAURUS OWNERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS. WHEN I CHECKED THE LOCAL PARTS HOUSE WHERE I PURCHASE MY CAR PARTS [TAURUS IS WELL MAINTAINED] THEY HAVE A BACK ORDER FOR THESE COIL-OVER STRUTS W/SPRINGS OF 22. SO SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG HERE. *NM
TRANSMISSION FAILED ON 2001 FORD TAURUS AT 41,000 MILE. TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AND BEGAN FAILING AGAIN AT 77,000 MILES. CAR BEGAN VIBRATING AROUND 45 MPH UNTIL 60 MPH, FORD DEALERSHIP TOOK IT FOR A TEST RIDE AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND I SHOULD GET NEW TIRES. NOW AT 97,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AGAIN. SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WHEN DRIVING, SLIPS ON THE UPSHIFT, CLUNKS ON THE DOWNSHIFT. WHEN DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED OF VIBRATION CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, NOW THAT IT HAS FAILED COMPLETELY THERE IS NO LONGER A WARRANTY. *NM
REAR COIL SPRING BROKE 2001 FORD TAURUS *ALSO BROKE ON CO-WORKERS CAR SAME YEAR SAME MODEL. (LOCAL GARAGE SAID THIS IS A REAL COMMON PROBLEM). *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S REAR COIL SPRING ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRACTURED WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH ON 04/07/06. THERE WAS A NOISE HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED BY THE CONTACT. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS OBSERVED, SO THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 1 MILE WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE BUT FOUND THAT THE INCORRECT SPARE WAS PUT IN THE VEHICLE BY AN AUTO SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN SLOWLY ACROSS THE STREET TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR COIL SPRING FRACTURED AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPRING AND TIRE. ON 06/24/06, A NOISE WAS HEARD WHILE TRAVELING 25MPH. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED, NO PROBLEM WERE OBSERVED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND THE TIRE WAS TAKEN OFF TO INSPECT THE SPRING AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING WAS FRACTURED. A NEW COIL SPRING WAS PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER, AND THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE REPLACED THE BROKEN SPRING. BOTH INCIDENTS OCCURRED DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THE CONTACT HAS THE FAILED PART AND REPAIR INVOICE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FRONT SPRINGS OF THE SAME MODEL. THE VIN# WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
REAR COIL SPRING BROKE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY - LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. ALMOST CAUSED A VERY SEVERE ACCIDENT. BROKEN COIL SPRING CAME WITHIN INCHES OF SLICING THE TIRE. WAS TOLD BY FORD DEALER ONLY THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ARE QUALIFIED FOR RECALL REPLACEMENT (ONLY AFTER THEY FAIL). THIS MAKES NO SENSE. ANOTHER GARAGE REPORTED SEEING THESE REAR SPRINGS BROKEN ALL THE TIME. *JB
REAR LEFT COIL SPRING BROKE, PIERCING BRAND NEW TIRE. HAPPENED WHEN WE WERE VISITING FAMILY OUT OF TOWN. CAR WAS OK THE NIGHT BEFORE, NOT THE NEXT MORNING. FOUND A GARAGE ON SATURDAY THAT WOULD MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS SO WE COULD LEAVE FOR HOME ON SUNDAY. REPAIRS INCLUDED NEW COIL SPRING, NEW STRUT, NEW TIRE, ALIGNMENT, TO THE TUNE OF $592.92. GARAGE SAID THE TAURUS IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS. THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED ON RECALL, WHY NOT THE BACK? WE FEEL WE NOW HAVE TO, FOR OUR SAFETY AND PEACE OF MIND, REPLACE THE OTHER SIDE. DEBATING ON GETTING RID OF THE CAR AT THIS POINT. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP THAT DETERMINED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR COIL SPRING WAS BROKE AND RUBBED ON THE TIRE. ALSO, THE REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED THE INNER AXLE BOOT WAS LEAKING ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE.
2001 FORD TAURUS SE SEDAN, LEFT REAR COIL SPRING FAILED, PUNCTURED LEFT REAR TIRE. HAD TO REPLACE TIRE, SPRING STRUT AND SWAY BAR LINK. $360.00. *JB
WIFE HEARD RUBBING NOISE FROM REAR OF VEHICLE, I PULLED OF TIRE TO LOOK AT BRAKES WHEN I FOUND RUBBER DEBRIS FROM TIRE. AFTER LOOKING FURTHER I FOUND THAT THE RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING ON STRUT BROKEN AND END OF BROKEN SPRING PROTRUDING OUT, HITTING TIRE. I THEN REMOVED LEFT REAR TIRE TO INSPECT SPRING AND FOUND IT ALSO BROKE. BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKE ABOUT 1 COIL UP ON THE SPRING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A TIRE SERVICE STORE AND A AFTER MARKET SPRING (MOOG BRAND) INSTALLED WHICH HAD A LIFE TIME WARRANTY. I DID RETAIN DEFECTIVE PARTS. *JB
2001 FORD TAURUS 65,000 MI VEHICLE INSPECTED OBSERVED FRAME RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE WHERE LOWER CONTROL ARM ATTACHES IS SEVERELY CORRODED TO POINT WHERE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY PREMATURE CONDITION FOR THIS VEHICLE EVEN WITH THE FACT THAT IT IS OPERATED IN A NORTHERN CLIMATE. *JB
WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITH HIGH ENGINE REV. IT WAS NECESSARY TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION TO ELIMINATE THE HAZARDOUS CONDITION. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS RECURRING ISSUE AS REPORTED BY OTHER OWNERS. PREVIOUSLY, ON 9/10/03, THIS VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. THIS ISSUE IS NOT THE RESULT OF DEPRESSING THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL CONCERNING THE LATERAL DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS. THIS LATTER ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED AND RESOLVED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE ACCELERATING ISSUE IS DEFINITELY AN EQUIPMENT FAILURE. NHTSA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS SAFETY HAZARD NOW! *NM
1) NO EVENT LEAD UP TO THE FAILURE 2) THE LEFT SIDE REAR COIL SPRING BROKE, PUNCTURED THE TIRE - ON THE NIGHT BEFORE THE CAR DROVE FINE. THE NEXT MORNING IT WAS MAKING A TERRIBLE "WHINNYING/SINGING" NOISE FROM THE BACK. THE NOISE WAS FROM THE SPRING MAKING CONTACT WITH THE TIRE. 3) REPAIRED. *JB

REAR COIL SPRING BROKE; REAR LEFT TIRE ALMOST PUNCTURED DUE TO RUBBING OF BROKEN SPRING ON TIRE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. I AM AN ENGINEER AND THE FEMA FAILURE EFFECTS MODE ANALYSIS SHOULD FORCE THIS COMPANY TO REPLACE THE SPRINGS UNDER RECALL. THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS INSTEAD OF COLLECTING DATA! DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET 20 MPH IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. ALTHOUGH THE OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS, THERE WAS A LOSS OF HEARING DUE TO THE NOISE OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR THE DEPLOYMENT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT REMOVED THE AIRBAG MODULE AND SENT IT TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THE AIRBAG MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. UPDATED 4/6/2006 - *NM

FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT OR EXTRACT CORRECTLY....PASSENGER CANNOT USE SEAT BELT. *NM
1)THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WORKED FINE, UNTIL 2) THE BUCKLE STARTED STICKING AND IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO UNBUCKLE, CAUSING 3) POSSIBLE DEATH IF THE SEATBELT BUCKLE IS NOT REPLACED. THIS IS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 01V144000, HOWEVER, MY CAR WAS NOT BUILT UNTIL DECEMBER 2000. *JB
MY CAR WAS RIDING LOW IN THE REAR FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE ONE NIGHT, JUST AFTER I STARTED ENGINE AND HAD DRIVEN ONLY A FEW YARDS. LEFT CAR THAT NIGHT AT BILL MARSH FORD-NEWTOWN, PA. THE NEXT MORNING I FOUND A PIECE OF MY RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING IN MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK. BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE NOT PART OF A RECALL, ONLY THE FRONT SPRINGS ARE COVERED. *JB

PURCHASED A 2001 TAURUS IN 2004 WITH 26000 MILES. HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITHIN 2 MONTHS. DEALER REFLASHED TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY OF USED CAR DEALER. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL NOT WORKING RIGHT, AND IS ON THE VERGE OF FAILURE. I ALREADY HAD A CODE FOR TORQUE CONVERTER COME UP, BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW ANY MORE. *NM

THE REAR COIL SPRING ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS CAME LOSE FROM ITS BASE. I NOW HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH THE COIL AND THE TIRE. THIS WORK WILL BE SCHEDULED BY A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. *NM
DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG EXPLODED, BUT DID NOT INFLATE. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MILES IN TRAFFIC AND HIT NOTHING. THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS NOT ON. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE REAR COIL SPRING BROKE AND GOUGED THE SIDE WALL ON THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY REPLACED BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS, STRUTS AND REAR PASSENGER TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED.
I HAD THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING FAIL AND AS I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE FRONT SPRINGS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL, THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE LEFT REAR COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN. FORTUNATELY, THE FRACTURE DID NOT RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, COMMON SENSE WOULD STATE THAT IF THE FRONT COILS FAILED, THE REAR COILS ALSO WOULD EXHIBIT THE SAME CORROSION/FAILURE PROBLEM SINCE THE SPRINGS, MORE THAN LIKELY, CAME FROM THE SAME VENDOR FOR FORD. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF ALL FOUR (4) COIL SPRINGS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE SPARE WAS PUT ON. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE REAR PASSENGER COIL SPRING HAD BROKEN. THE REAR COIL SPRING AND TIRE WERE REPLACED. *NM
LEFT REAR SPRING BROKE ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS. TOOK IT TO MY DEALER TO FIX IT AND I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. IT ALMOST BLEW OUT MY TIRE ,WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO CRASH. I HEAR THAT FORD MAY BE HAVING A RECALL ON THE REAR SPRINGS ON THE 2000 AND 2001 TAURUS. HOWEVER, I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE PAID, TO HAVE THE SPRING FIXED AND I CALLED FORD ABOUT IT,THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE SPRINGS. I'M E-MAILING THIS IN HOPES THAT FORD WILL RECALL THE SPRINGS SO I CAN GET MY MONEY BACK ON THE REPAIR. UNLESS THEY MAKE IT RIGHT WITH ME, I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER FORD PRODUCT!! *JB

REAR COIL SPRINGS CRACKED ON MY 2001 FORD TAURUS SEL. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT THEY BOTH CRACKED WHILE PARKED AT THE CURB AND NOT WHILE BEING DRIVEN BY MY WIFE WITH SON IN THE CAR. *JB

REAR SPRING ON 2001 TAURUS SNAPPED DUE TO CORROSION. REPLACED BOTH SPRINGS AND TIRE THAT WAS DAMAGED DUE TO SPRING FAILURE. SPRING CUT TIRE WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. *NM
I ENTERED MY CAR ONE MORNING AND STARTED BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE AND I HEARD A METAL GRINDING SOUND FROM THE RIGHT REAR SIDE. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK I NOTICED THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RIDING LOWER ON THE RIGHT REAR SIDE. A WEEK OR SO LATER I TOOK THE CAR INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE RIGHT REAR SPRING AND BOTH STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE SAID THE BROKEN SPRING WAS GOUGING A HOLE IN MY TIRE. THE RIGHT REAR STRUT WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT HE SAID I WOULD TO HAVE BOTH REPLACED FOR THE RIDE TO BE EVEN. ADDITIONALLY, HE SAID I WOULD NEED TO HAVE AN ALIGNMENT DONE. I DID NOT HAVE THE WORK PERFORMED ON MY CAR AS THE DEALER WAS ASKING OVER $700 FOR THE REPAIRS. I CALLED FOR OTHER ESTIMATES. I PULLED THE TIRE OFF AT HOME AND DID FIND THE SPRING WAS BROKER AND CAUSING A GOUGE TO BE DUG INTO MY 1 YEAR OLD TIRE JUST AN INCH BELOW THE TOP OF THE TIRE AND ABOUT 1/4 INCH DEEP. I HAVE YET TO SPEAK TO FORD ABOUT THE PROBLEM.*AK
