THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE REAR LICENSE PLATE IS CORRODED AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. DEALER STATES THAT THIS VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL THAT FORD PREVIOUSLY HAD AS IT RELATES TO THE REAR LICENSE PLATE WIRING. WAS NOTICED ON A REGULAR SERVICE CALL AT 83,000 MILES THAT THE LIGHTS WERE INOPERABLE. AFTER CHANGING THE BULBS AND STILL INOPERABLE TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED. DEALER STATED THAT IF YOU WIGGLE THE WIRING HARNESS IT WOULD CONNECT AND WORK BUT WHEN LET GO IT BECAME INOPERABLE AGAIN.
PREVIOUS RECALL 14V285000, LICENSE PLATE LIGHTING CORROSION. MY VEHICLE HAD THE RECALL DONE BACK IN 2013 AND THIS WEEK NOTICED THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. WHEN TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP THEY FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS HAD CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AGAIN! THE CONCERN IS THE WIRE HARNESS IS STILL CORRODING AND FORD IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING A CONTINUED ISSUE WITH THE WIRE HARNESS CORROSION.
REAR VIEW CAMERA STOPPED WORKING A SHORT TIME AGO. CAR WAS COMPLETELY INSPECTED AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $1136.00 ! CAR HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE , NO ACCIDENTS, GARAGE STORED ETC. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE SUCH AN EXPENSE ON THE CAR. HOW OFTEN WILL THIS BECOME A PROBLEM? WILL I NEED TO COME UP WITH $1100.00 OR MORE ON A REGULAR BASIS EVERY FEW YEARS FOR SUCH REPAIRS ? IS FORD AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER CARS AND HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO ASSIST IN COST OF REPAIRS?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO BE DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,300.
I PURCHASED THE CAR USED WITH 28,000 MILE AND I HAVE'T HAD A SINGLE ISSUE WITH IT UNTIL TODAY CURRENT MILEAGE 52,300 THE CAR FOR NO REASON JUST CUT OFF AND THE OIL LIGHT WAS ON , I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR . THE SCARY PART IS THERE IS NO TYPE OF WARNING JUST GOES DEAD .
MY CAR HAS SIMPLY SHUT DOWN 4 TIMES. FIST AT A STOP SIGN, THEN ON A HIGHWAY, AGAIN AT A STOP AND AGAIN ON A HIGHWAY. ALMOST WAS HIT ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER JUST AS A SEMI SPED BY ME. EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN AS IF THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF. THERE IS NO POWER AT ALL, NO LIGHTS, NO STEERING ETC.. I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR.
BRAKES/CALIPERS ON REAR HAVE SEIZED TWICE IN LAST 6 MONTHS RESULTING IN REPLACEMENT OF CALIPERS/BRAKES/ROTORS ON REAR. NO UNCOMMON USE OF VEHICLE. BRAKES/CALIPERS ON FRONT HAVE SEIZED ONCE IN LAST 6 MONTHS. THIS HAPPENED FOLLOWING THE REPLACEMENT OF STRUT. FRONT STRUTS BEARING HAD SEIZED AND FRACTURED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. NO UNCOMMON USE OF VEHICLE TOOK PLACE. NO ACCIDENT SUSTAINED. PROBLEM WAS NOTICED WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNING (LOUD CRUNCHING AND SCRAPING NOISES).
IN AUGUST, 2015, BACK BRAKES BEGAN GRINDING AND SCRAPING. TURNS OUT THE REAR CALIPERS HAD SEIZED RESULTING THE IN THE BRAKES GRINDING DOWN TO THE PLATES. THESE WERE NEWER BRAKES AND VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY PURCHASED. FOLLOWING THE BRAKES AND CALIPERS BEING REPLACED, I WAS ONCE AGAIN (OCTOBER, 2015) BACK AT THE MECHANIC WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THE CALIPERS HAD ONCE AGAIN SEIZED ON THE BACK BRAKES, RESULTING IN A CHUNKING/GRINDING SOUND REGARDLESS OF IF I WAS BRAKING OR NOT.
THIS INVOLVES THE EXPENSIVE SAFETY ACCESSORY: "FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE "ON THIS VEHICLE, THIS SAFETY FEATURE IS INTERMITTENT. AS I'M DRIVING ON A CITY STREET OR FREEWAY, THE UNIT SUDDENLY TURNS OFF AND AT THE SAME TIME, THE CRUISE CONTROL TURNS OFF. IN ORDER TO RE-ENGAGE THE SYSTEMS, THE ENGINE MUST BE TURNED OFF AND RE-STARTED. THE PROBLEMS STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. ( OCT.-2015) I COUNT ON THIS SAFETY FEATURE. (FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE) AS AN EXAMPLE, THE CAR IN FRONT HAS NO BRAKE LIGHTS, I HAVE NO IDEA THAT IT IS SLOWING AND COMES TO AN ABRUPT STOP. THIS COULD RESULT IN A COLLISION, WHEREAS THE AVOIDANCE FEATURE GIVES PLENTY OF WARNING IN REGARDS TO THE SUDDEN SLOWING OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD TARUS AND GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AND MY FAMILY WAS WITH HER. THE COMPLETE AIR BAGS SYSTEM FAILED TO DEPLOY RESULTING IN HEAD INJURY TO THE DRIVER AND KNEE AND ELBOW INJURY TO MY DAUGHTER AND KNEE INJURY TO MY AUNT. THIS 2011 FORD TARUS IS A LEMON AND MY FAMILY COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED IN THIS DEATH TRAP. THE VEHICLE IS NOW TOTALED AND IS BEING HELD BY THE EASTON POLICE DEPARTMENT IMPOUND LOT WAITING FOR GEICO INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTION ADJUSTER. I AWAIT TO GET ME ANOTHER CAR FROM THE DEALER AND HAVE HIRED AN ATTORNEY TO INVESTIGATE THIS SERIOUS MATTER BECAUSE WHAT ABOUT IF MY FAMILY WOULD HAVE GOT KILLED IN THIS SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND A LOUD NOISE CAME FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,500.

THIS IS A RECALL COMPLAINT. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE AT THE END OF MARCH 2015. TOOK THE CAR IN AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD THE PARTS AND CAR WOULD BE READY AT DAY'S END. WHEN I WENT BACK, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T GET THE PART AND AUTO WOULD BE READY ON MONDAY. ON MONDAY THEY STILL DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND AS OF TODAY AUG. 26, 2015, THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE NECESSARY PART. THEY DID PROVIDE US WITH A RENTAL VEHICLE, BUT WHEN I DO PICK-UP MY CAR????????THEY WILL CHARGE ME 300+$ FOR THE WORK THEY DID FOR MY 50,000 MI CHECK-UP. I THINK THEY SHOULD CANCEL THAT FEE FOR THE MONTHS OF INCONVENIENCE THEY HAVE CAUSED ME!!!!!!! PLUS THEY HAVE LEFT MY CAR SITTING OUTSIDE ALL OF THIS TIME! HELLO GOOD MORNING I HAVE A 2011 FORD TAURUS SEL AND WHILE GOING UP A HILL MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE MY KEYS WERE STILL IN THE IGNITION. MY STEERING LOCKED, CHECK ENGINE AND LOW OIL LIGHTS WENT ON. THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS APPLY BRAKES TO THE CAR AND PLACE IT IN PARK. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD TO SEE IF ANYTHING LOOKED OUT OF PLACE. I CHECKED MY ENGINE OIL LEVELS AND THAT SEEMED FINE. I CLOSED THE HOOD AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR LOW OIL? I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM SINCE BUT IT SEEMED LIKE AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
DEAR SIR MY 2011 FORD TAURUS HAS SHUT OFF--------(3 TIMES)--------NOW SINCE 2012 WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT WITH MY REMOTE KEY IN MY CAR. I DID NOT MAKE A RECORD ABOUT IT FOR THE FIRST TWO SO AM REPORTING ON THE LATEST. I HAVE A PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AND REMOTE KEYS. IT RANDOMLY DOES NOT DETECT THE KEYS AS WELL AND THEN IT TAKES SOME PUSHING ALL THE BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE TO RECOGNIZE I HAVE THE KEY THERE. YESTERDAY THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERIES IN THE REMOTE AND RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THEM ANNUALLY. THEY COULD NOT OFFER ME AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT WAS NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEYS WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN A ROAD AND IT SHUTS OFF. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT THING WAITING TO HAPPEN. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AS WELL AND SEARCHED THE HOME OFFICE FOR ANY DEFECT OR RECALL AND HAVE NONE. IS THIS A REPORTED INCIDENT AND IS THERE ANYTHING ON IT? THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V040000 (STRUCTURE) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE I AM DRIVING. THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AND NO NOTHING. EACH TIME I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD AND EACH TIME THE CAR STARTS RIGHT BACK UP NO PROBLEMS BUT I AM AFRAID OF WHAT MAY HAPPEN THE NEXT TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE YEAR.THE FIRST FEW TIMES I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THIS LAST TIME THEY GAVE ME A LOANER CAR TO DRIVE WHILE THEY TAKE A DEEPER LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND TURNED ON THE SEAT HEATER. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES THE SEAT HEATER OVERHEATED AND BURNED THE BACKS OF HER LEGS. SEVERAL DAYS LATER MY FATHER TURNED IT ON, IT BURNED THROUGH SEVERAL LAYERS OF HIS WINTER CLOTHES AND LEFT A BURN MARK ON THE LEATHER SEAT. THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE, AND HAS CAUSED BOTH PERSONAL INJURY AND DAMAGE TO THE CAR.
WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE NOTHING HAPPENED AND I NOTICED ALL DASH LIGHTS WERE ON. I COASTED TO SHOULDER, SHIFTED TO PARK AND PUSHED IGNITION BUTTON AND IT RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 OTHER TIMES AND LUCKILY THERE WAS A SHOULDER AVAILABLE, BUT THE HOLMAN FORD DEALERSHIP, (WHO IS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS EVER SERVICED THE CAR), SAYS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I OWN A 2011 FORD TAURUS WITH HEATED LEATHER SEATS. THE HEATING MECHANISM BEGAN TO GET HOTTER IN SPOTS ON THE BACK OF THE SEAT ON MY DRIVE INTO WORK. WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED AUGUST 2013. WE TOOK IT BACK FOR DRIVING LIGHTS TO BE CHECKED. WE HADN'T DRIVEN AT NIGHT UNTIL RECENTLY AND THE BRIGHT LIGHTS SEEM LIKE DIM LIGHTS. THE DIM LIGHTS APPEAR TO HAVE A SHADOW INSIDE OR OVER THEM. THE LIGHTS DO NOT SHOW VERY MUCH OF THE ROAD AHEAD. ON 08/22/2013 I MADE CONTACT WITH HER SHE CONTACTED THEIR TECHNICAL PEOPLE AND GOT BACK WITH ME STATING THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO FOR THIS CAR STATING THAT IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE AND THEY HAVE OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER AREAS OF THE COUNTRY WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE THE TAURUS SHO WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. THE VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY SHUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR LOW SPEEDS. IT WILL "MISS" AND THEN "CATCH" AND ACCELERATE WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY AND IN NO PATTERN AT ALL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER IN DECEMBER 2012 AND THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY INDICATED NO AWARENESS THAT THIS WAS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH THE CAR (I HAVE THE SERVICE RECEIPT IF NEEDED). THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR WITH ~9,000 MILES ON IT IN MARCH OF 2012. THIS ALSO OCCURS RARELY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. OCCASIONALLY THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL CANCEL AND THE CAR WILL SHUTTER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. The contact owns a 2011 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while idling at a stop sign or stop light, the vehicle was shaking abnormally and slightly hesitated while attempting to accelerate. The contact stated that the gear shifter was able to be removed from the socket, causing the contact to have to apply pressure downward while changing gears to keep the shifter in the proper position. While driving at various speeds, the transmission felt like it was going to unexpectedly downshift or change gear. The contact had to hold the gear shifter to prevent the shifter from unintendedly changing gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.
