The contact owns a 2014 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the back over prevention camera failed to operate as needed, with a blank image displayed on the screen while the vehicle was shifted into reverse(R). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the camera could not be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A STORE MY 2014 FORD TAURUS SURGED AHEAD. THE CAR WENT ACROSS THE PARKING STOP AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF THE STORE. THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS DAMAGED AND THE FRONT OF THE STORE WAS DAMAGED. THE WEATHER WAS DRY AND ABOUT 70 DEGREES. I WAS GOING LESS THAN 5 MPH AT THE TIME THE CAR SURGED AHEAD. IT WAS AS IF I HAD STOMPED ON THE GAS BUT I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT. I ASSUME IT WAS SOME SORT OF PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE SYSTEM. THIS HAPPENED IN LEAGUE CITY TEXAS AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CASE NUMBER IS 16-1961. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MCREE FORD IN DICKENSON TEXAS FOR REPAIRS.
REAR BRAKE ON DRIVERS SIDE SQUEAKING, BRAKE IS DRAGGING, CAUSING THE ROTOR AND BRAKE TO OVERHEAT. THIS CAUSES SMOKE AND ODOR. UPON INVESTIGATION IT WAS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE THE WHEEL AND THE BRAKE CALIPERS TO CHECK THE BRAKE PADS. VEHICLE HAS 27000 MILES, ONE BRAKE PAD WORN COMPLETELY DOWN IT WAS OPPOSITE OF THE CALIPER BRAKE PISTON. THE OTHER PAD APPEARED TO HAVE NORMAL WEAR. AT EACH SIDE OF THE BRAKE PAD THERE WAS BUILD UP OF BRAKE DUST AND RUST ON CALIPER. BRAKE PADS WERE REMOVED AND ONE WAS HIGHLY GLAZED AND BREAKING APART AT EDGES. THE SQUEAKING WAS BROUGHT TO FORD ATTENTION THEY STATED THE CONDITION COULD NOT DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE SQUEAKED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE 11,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN SQUEAKING FOR TWO YEARS.
TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 50 / 55 MPH AND I HIT A DEER HEAD ON. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD BUT NEVER DEPLOYED. JUST CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THE AIR BAG SHOULD OF DEPLOYED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD TAURUS EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 TIRES, SIZE: 255/45ZR19104W (NA). WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO RIVERS FORD (76 BELINDA PKWY, MT JULIET, TN 37122, (800) 900-1000) WHERE AN ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED, BUT NO FAILURE WITH THE TIRES COULD BE DETECTED. AIR WAS ADDED TO THE TIRES AS A PRECAUTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR WOULD PERIODICALLY ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
I HAD THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS IN 2015 AND IT HAD CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKAGES. I SENT THIS CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND THEY TOLD ME THE CAR HAD NO ISSUES. I HAD SYMPTOMS OF SEVERE HEADACHE, BLURRED VISION AND CONFUSED STATE OF MIND ALL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. I BOUGHT INDUSTRIAL GRADE DETECTORS BUT THEY DID NOT PICK UP ANYTHING. HOWEVER WHEN MY DOCTOR ORDERED BLOOD TESTS THEY SHOWED SERIOUS EXPOSURE TO CARBON MONOXIDE. I HAD THE FIRE DEPARTMENT COME IN AT TEST MY RESIDENCE BUT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKS. I FINALLY GAVE UP THE CAR AND BOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE. MY BLOOD WORK CAME BACK AFTER A RETEST ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I LET THE CAR GO. I HAVE NOT HAD THESE SYMPTOMS SINCE THEN. THIS IS A CLEAR INDICATION THAT THE CAR WAS THE PROBLEM AND YET NO DEALERSHIP HELPED ME OUT. I DROVE 100 MILES A DAY IN THAT CAR AND I AM SURE HAD I JUST KEPT IT SOMETHING CATASTROPHIC WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I AM REPORTING THIS NOW DUE TO REPORTS OF SEVERAL FORD EXPLORER RECALLS. MY POINT THIS THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT LIMITED TO FORD EXPLORERS. FORD TAURUS AT LEAST 2014 NEEDS INVESTIGATED AS WELL AS PEOPLES LIFE ARE AT STAKE. I CAN PROVIDE BLOOD WORK REPORTS IF NEEDED.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD CRASHING INTO THE CAR AHEAD. CONDITIONS WERE DRY AND APPROXIMATELY 75 DEGREES. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ENCOUNTERING THIS ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, A SMALL DOG JUMPED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WAS REPLACED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, A COYOTE JUMPED IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DRIVER SIDE ARE BAG WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOY AFTER ANOTHER SLIGHT IMPACT AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

VEHICLE HYDROPLANED AND HIT THE GUARD RAIL ALOT OF FRONT END DAMAGE NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. INJURIES INCLUDING A HEAD INJURY BOTH OCCUPANTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL. UPDATE 9/15/15*CW THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG SENSOR WASN'T TRIGGERED AND WANTS TO CANCEL THE COMPLAINT. UPDATED 10/01/15*JB
UPON HAVING MY TIRES ROTATED, I WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH REAR SHOCKS WERE LEAKING. THE CAR IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD, I DRIVE ONLY PAVED STREETS. DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH SHOCKS AND CONFIRMED THEY WERE BOTH LEAKING.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND RIM WERE HOT TO THE TOUCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL BEARING WAS LOOSE AND GRINDING, THE ROTORS FAILED, AND THE REAR BRAKE PADS FAILED, THE HUB BEARING SEIZED AND THE ABS SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,500.

CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAD A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND MESSAGES APPEARING ON CONSOLE REFERRING TO UPDATES NEEDED. *TA THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND TO THE KEY FOB OR KEYLESS ENTRY. IT SEEMED AS IF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. THE UPDATES WERE PERFORMED. HOWEVER, THE MESSAGE CONTINUED TO APPEAR. *JB

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY LIMITED DURING NIGHT DRIVING. THERE IS A VERY DEFINED LINE BETWEEN PROJECTED LIGHT AND SURROUNDING DARKNESS. WHEN TRAVELING UP OR DOWN EVEN THE SLIGHTEST SLOPE, THE LIGHTS POINT DOWN INTO THE ROAD DIRECTLY AHEAD, GIVING NO VIEW OR REACTION TIME OF POSSIBLE OBSTACLES, PEOPLE, ANIMALS OR STALLED/PARKED CARS. THERE IS NO PERIPHERAL LIGHTING TOWARDS THE FRONT QUARTER SO WHEN A TURN ONTO AN INTERSECTING ROADWAY OR DRIVEWAY IS NECESSARY, IT IS COMPLETELY DARK AND ANY OBJECTS, PEOPLE OR ANIMALS CANNOT BE SEEN. THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS NIGHT-DRIVING I HAVE EVER DONE IN ANY AUTO/TRUCK. *TR

LETTER FROM CONGRESSWOMAN SLAUGHTER ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH 2014 FORD TAURUS (ATTN: JOHN PELLITO). *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED A REAR BRAKE DRAG WHICH RESULTED IN AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF HEAT BUILD-UP IN THE LEFT REAR WHEEL BRAKE ASSEMBLY. UPON RETURNING FROM A SHORT 125 MILE DAY TRIP, AN UNUSUAL HOT BURNING SMELL WAS NOTICED AND AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF HEAT WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. AT ONE POINT, TWO VERY LOUD/HARD METAL BANGS WERE HEARD AND THE LEFT REAR TIRE SPUN IN THE STREET FROM A DEAD STOP. IN MAY MID 2015, THE SAME PROBLEM STARTED TO OCCUR WITHIN SHORT ERRANDS AND MORE FREQUENTLY. IT APPEARED THE BRAKE ONLY ON THAT WHEEL WAS DRAGGING OR LOCKING IN POSITION ON THE ROTOR CAUSING EXCESSIVE HEAT. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE BRAKE PADS WERE HEAT FUSED TO THE CALIPER KNUCKLE ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND THE ROTOR WAS HEAT WARPED AND EXCESSIVELY WORN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS, BRAKE ROTORS, CLEANED THE HEAT DAMAGED AND APPLIED A LUBRICANT IN THE SLOT OF THE ANCHOR TO PREVENT THE CALIPERS AND BRAKES FROM BINDING. *JB
WAS DRIVING MY 2014 FORD TAURUS, SLOWED DOWN TO MERGE FROM ONE INTERSTATE TO ANOTHER WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THERE IS LOUD BOOM OVER MY HEAD LIKE A BOLDER HAS HIT THE TOP OF MY CAR. DIDN'T SEE ANYONE AROUND ON FOOT. NOTHING BOUNCED OFF MY CAR. NO ONE AROUND ME PULLED OFF TO SIDE LIKE THEY WERE HIT IN CASE SOMETHING DID BOUNCE OFF. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, I HEAR THIS CRACKLING ALL AROUND MY ROOF. I PULL THE INSIDE COVER BACK AND SEE MY GLASS IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED AND PIECES ARE MISSING OUT. GLASS IS POINTING UP, LIKE WHAT HAPPENED CAME FROM INSIDE THE CAR NOT OUTSIDE. I THOUGHT AT FIRST MAYBE A ROCK HAD HIT IT BUT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THAT. THIS VEHICLE IS USED AS A FLEET VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN A PARKED DRIVEWAY AT A RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, AND TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE BROKE FREE, ROLLED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT, OVER THE EDGE OF THE EMBANKMENT STRIKING THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY. THIS IMPACT CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE OPERATOR, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION, AND IN PARK. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE PAST. *TR
NIGHT DRIVING IS UNSAFE DUE TO THE NONEXISTENCE OF PERIPHERAL LIGHTING. WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN ATTEMPTING A TURN IT IS COMPLETELY DARK, AND ONLY LIT WHEN THE CAR HAS COMPLETED THE TURN. WE CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR AFTER DARK DUE TO THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR

FORD NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THE DURABILITY OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON THE 2014 MODEL TAURUS. I OWN TWO 2014 TAURUS AND WITHIN THE FIRST 6MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELDS ON BOTH VEHICLES. BOTH VEHS WERE HIT IN THE SAME SPOT OPPOSITE SIDES WITH A ROCK AND A CRACKED FORMED FROM ONE SIDE TO OTHER WITHIN 4HRS OF THE INCIDENT. EACH TIME WE WERE TRAVELING NO MORE THAT 40/45 MPH DUE TO MODERATE TRAFFIC. BOTH WINDSHIELDS COSTING ME $600 OUT OF POCKET. I HAVE OWNED OTHER MODEL FORD VEHICLES(07 FORD 500 AND 1998 EXPLORER) THAT HAVE WITHSTOOD PLENTY OF ROCKS AT THE WINDSHIELD AND NOT ONE CHIP OR CRACK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
MOUNTING BRACKET LACERATED MY THUMB SO SEVERE IT SEVERED THE VEIN AND TENDON BY BARELY BUMPING IT WHILE ARMOR ALL-ING THE INTERIOR. ER AND SURGICAL REPAIR NECESSARY. *TR
IT WOULD SEEM SOMEONE WOULD LOOK INTO THE PLASTIC HEAD LIGHTS ON ALL MODELS OF CARS. AFTER A FEW YEARS THE HEAD LIGHT COVERS GET COVERED WITH SOMETHING THAT SEEMS TO DIM THE HEAD LIGHTS BY 50%. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT MAY BE CAUSING NIGHT TIME ACCIDENTS. *TR
During my vacation in the USA 2014 i bought the used car with the named VIN. The car was exported from the USA to Switzerland. He is still in service until today. The car is not listed in your database. I can't imagine, that this car escapes from the "screen", after exporting, like "out of sight, out of mind". I am aware of various recalls for this type of vehicle and i suspect that my vehicle is one of them. There has not been an incident so far, but why am I not hearing anything? WHEN WE COME TO A STOP (NOT MOVING AT ALL) AND EASE UP ON THE BRAKE THE CAR MOVES FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES CAUSING ACCIDENTS. ONE TIME THE CAR MOVED INTO THE HOUSE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE CAR, GARAGE DOOR AND KNOCKING BRICKS OFF THE FRONT ON THE HOUSE.
