NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2022 Ford Transit. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
We are reaching out regarding Safety Recall Notice 23S48. This recall pertains to this issue: "when the vehicle is placed in reverse, or when the 360-Degree view is selected, you may intermittently see a rear camera blue or black image on the SYNC screen." After bringing our vehicle to the Ford dealership, they have replaced the camera as the recall specifies. However, the issue described continues to persist. Ford is telling us than any further work towards fixing this issue would be at our expense.
Since I purchased this vehicle, it has experienced severe safety-related failures in the electrical system, battery, vacuum pump, powertrain, and other components. All warning lights would activate on the dashboard, messages appeared such as “Service Immediately” and “Power Reduced,” the vehicle became limited to about 10 mph, and on several occasions it shut off completely while in use. Six days before taking it to Midway Ford, Metro Ford replaced the battery, but within days the vehicle became inoperable again. Midway Ford kept the vehicle for weeks and eventually claimed the battery was defective, but attempted to charge me over $2,000 for sensors and a fuse box despite my Ford 5-year/8-year warranties and an extended service contract. I opened formal complaints with Ford, Metro Ford, and Midway Ford. Ford acknowledged factory defects, and the vehicle has more than six prior repairs since 2022, consistent with known issues in similar models (vacuum pump failures). During active state and federal investigations—and without my authorization—Midway Ford moved the vehicle off their property. I have evidence from the Ford app showing it was relocated to an apartment complex, then a private house, and finally to an unauthorized tow yard. When I returned to the country, police accompanied me to the location where I found the vehicle hidden, vandalized, with deflated tires, scratches, and surrounded by stripped and crashed cars. Midway Ford initially denied having the vehicle and later changed their statements. Afterward, all alerts were cleared from the Ford app without explanation. Midway Ford acted without permission, moved the vehicle during an open investigation, manipulated its condition, and returned it damaged. I request a full safety investigation due to repeated failures, loss of power, shutdowns while driving, and the dealer’s negligent handling of the vehicle.
My 2022 Ford E-Transit has experienced repeated electrical, propulsion, and powertrain failures that cause the vehicle to become completely inoperable. On September 8, the van displayed multiple critical alerts including powertrain malfunction, brake system failure, vacuum pump failure, and full electrical system fault, and it would not start. The next day, the same failure occurred again and the van had to be towed. The dealer replaced the 12V battery without proper diagnosis and returned the vehicle with all warning lights still on. A technician privately stated that the issue was more complex than the battery and that the system had only been reset, not repaired. No written authorization for the repair was requested, and the underlying electrical/propulsion failure was never addressed. Five days later, the vehicle became fully inoperable again with the exact same failures. These repeated shutdowns and inability to start happen without warning and create a serious safety hazard because the van can lose all function while parked or potentially while driving. The system faults affect essential components related to braking, propulsion, and overall vehicle control. The pattern indicates a significant defect in the electrical and propulsion systems of the vehicle, and the problem persists despite attempted service. The vehicle is unsafe and unreliable due to recurring total system failure.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Transit. The contact stated that upon shifting to reverse(R), the contact noticed that the rearview camera image was frozen. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V315000(Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. An unknown dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The engine 'start-stop' feature is permanently 'ON' . The ability to temporarily disable it has been removed by a Ford software update. Case #00715259 was opened with Ford, vehicle taken to Capitol Ford, Carson City NV, for verification. Dealer verifies that although the start stop feature works correctly the option to temporarily disable it was removed by a Ford software update in August 2023 with no plans to restore it. In mountain driving not being able to disengage this feature is dangerous. Attempting to enter an intersection with a loaded vehicle and having the engine stop just before accelerating will eventually cause an accident. The option to temporarily disable 'start stop' must be restored before someone loses their life at a busy intersection.
This recall is for Rear Camera Screen Software Update, NHTSA #25V315 isn't available right now. The update has not been released yet. I went to dealer to dealer and they told me they could not fix it because there is no remedy not yet available. They camera is also working fine, no issue at all. Could you be able to remove this recall for me or update me when there is an update? I use this vehicle for a business and BECAUSE of the recall, I am not allowed to use this vehicle for a commercial use. Could you please unrestrict the vehicle so I can use this vehicle for commercial again? I have attached the recall issue, Could you please help me resolve this issue? Thank you so much. My 2022 Ford E-Transit 350 has had repeated safety and performance failures. The vehicle has an open recall on the rearview camera, which caused a police incident when I hit another car because the camera was not working properly. On several occasions, the vehicle has also completely shut down and would not start at all, leaving me stranded. The van often loses acceleration, gets stuck at 20 mph, and becomes unsafe to drive. The brakes, electrical system, and propulsion system have all malfunctioned. Despite multiple visits to Ford dealers, the problems remain. I have had to rent vehicles at my own expense since no loaner was provided. These failures put my safety and the safety of others at serious risk. I have police reports, medical certificates (including 12 days of medical leave), dealer invoices, and photos fully documenting everything.
From the moment I purchased the vehicle, HGreg Nissan withheld essential information and misled me about its condition and warranty status. They told me the vehicle had a “bumper-to-bumper” warranty valid until October 2025 because it was a 2022 model, but they never informed me about the actual manufacturer warranties (5-year and 8-year EV warranties), which remain active and override any extended warranty they sold me. To justify selling me a six-year extended warranty through NESNA, HGreg Nissan hid the fact that the manufacturer warranties were still in effect. They also added three additional warranties I explicitly said I did not want. All documents were signed on a tablet, and I was never given physical copies. The USB they provided did not include any warranty information. I repeatedly requested the warranty documents and received no response. NESNA later confirmed that the extended warranty could not be activated because the manufacturer warranty was still active. HGreg Nissan also failed to disclose that the vehicle had been part of a commercial fleet in California, was auctioned, retitled, and then sold to me as if it were a clean personal-use vehicle. Since day one, the vehicle has experienced serious and repeated failures: electrical system malfunctions, powertrain warnings, brake system faults, vacuum pump failures, sudden loss of power, reduced speed mode, and spontaneous shutdowns. The vehicle is unsafe and is currently completely inoperable. HGreg Nissan sold me a defective vehicle, concealed critical history, misrepresented warranty coverage, added unwanted contracts, and refused to provide documentation or support. These failures pose a serious safety risk to me and other drivers.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Transit. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V242000 (Back Over Prevention) and 25V315000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The contact stated that while in reverse and attempting to use the back over prevention camera, the image was displayed distorted, or a white screen was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the back-over prevention camera had failed. The dealer completed a software update and 360-degree alignment. The dealer replaced the left side camera; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure was approximately 75,800. VIN tool confirms parts not available for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V315000 (Back Over Prevention), and Parts distribution disconnect for NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V242000 (Back Over Prevention).
2021 Ford Bronco® and 2022—2023 Ford Transit® Van — 360-Degree and Rearview Camera Recall (23S48). I have taken my Van in 4 times to fix this issue, and it is still not fixed but it is marked as fixed on your website. Randomly the back up cameras on all sides will stop working and go blue or green with no image.
This is a fleet vehicle operated by Walmart and managed by Wheels Inc Fleet Management. Vehicle experienced loss of brake effectiveness due to brake vacuum pump failure. As operator described: "CUSTOMER STATES BRAKE LIGHT ERROR POPPED UP ON DASH AND BRAKES BECAME SPONGY AND VEHICLE FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE... VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN." This failure has occurred on probably 30 identical vehicles in their fleet. Repair order evidence for this particular incident and several others is attached. Please contact me if further information is needed. Thanks.
My van has the 360 camera (1 one each side and 1 on the rear). My van would intermittently experience blue image on the sides and rear when vehicle is placed in reverse. There was a recall on the rear camera only (Recall 23V598) that was recently performed on my van. It looks like the rear camera is fixed but I am now intermitently getting a gray image on the left and right camera when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Ford needs to replace all 3 of the cameras to really fix this issue.
My 360 side cameras are turning blue while reversing. I asked Ford Corp to fix it under the recall, but Ford refused to rectify. I ended up paying $701 out of my own pocket. I told them this is part of the recall but still denied the repair. I had to go to Check Cashing place to borrow $701 NOTE: I almost hit a mother and a child while backing up because my screen turn blue all of a sudden.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Transit. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 63-64 MPH, the solar panel suddenly detached and landed in the street after a semi-truck drove by. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to find what caused the solar panel to detach. The contact was informed that the solar panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not covered under recall or warranty. The failure mileage was 8,632.
There is a recall 23S48 to replace the rear camera. My 2022 Ford Transit has a 360 camera and only the rear camera was replaced with the recall. My side camera is also having intermittent issues where it shows a grey/blue screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Ford needs to replace all three cameras for the 360 system and not just the rear. This is still a safety issue when you cannot see vehicles on your side when reversing.
Campaign/NHTSA# 23S48/23V598 Even though Ford Motor website sows the fix for the recall is available, when we approach the authorized dealers they are saying it is not available. I have contacted two authorized dealers and none of them are able to fix the issue, saying the parts not avaialble. Dealers that I have contacted are: AutoNation Ford Jacksonville (10720 Phillips Highway Jacksonville, FL 32256 (904) 865-5509) Coggin Ford (9650 Atlantic Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32225 (904) 893-2735) This is pretty much not drivable now the camera hardly works anytime.

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The modules were reset by an independent mechanic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V887000 (Back Over Prevention). The camera was black with green lines, and it froze. There was a buzzing sound detected. The vehicle was restarted. While the mechanic was driving the vehicle, the vehicle crashed into a gate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, and the contact was informed about a diagnostic test. There were no codes retrieved, and the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,600.
We have a fleet of 17 Ford Transit Cargo Vans. The older generation ones didn't give us a problem whatsoever for visibility but the new ones are all breaking. The sun visor is getting locked and snapping very easily and once broken it is hanging blocking our drivers view even when the sun visor isn't pulled down to be used to block the sun. Each sun visor is a cost of $400 we have purchased new ones to get it repaired thinking it was our drivers fault. However within one month it was broken again.

Problem: Ongoing failure of 360 degree view, as described in Safety Recall Notice 23S48 / NHTSA Recall 23V598: "rear camera blue or black image when placed in reverse or 360 degree view is selected." First noted around August 2023, but still happening. Vehicle was taken to a dealer for repair, but the same symptom (see 360 degree view in uploaded photo) recurred soon after repair, and has been confirmed by dealer. Dealer now says the symptom (rear camera blue or black image when placed in reverse or 360 degree view) is not covered by the recall notice Vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.
my car has climate control, the heater sometimes abruptly changes temperature spontaneously. 1 time it caused a road accident. The heater suddenly started blowing hot air on me, during the lane change, I was distracted to turn it off. sometimes the heater does not allow you to have a comfortable temperature, it sets only a hot temperature, and I don’t know how to change it , because I set the minimum temperature, and the cabin is hot (90 degrees). i have thermometers and have a record of this problem. I have a video with this problem. I went to the dealer 4 times with this problem. they do not find any malfunction, although I fix it on video.
