THE ABS LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY. THIS INDICATES THAT THE ABS BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL AND IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
ABS LIGHTS BEEN ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY FOR A VERY LONG TIME SINCE I'VE OWNED THIS VAN FORD NEED TO FIX THESE. *TR
I NEVER KNEW ABOUT FORD'S RECALLS UNTIL LAST MARCH. BEFORE CALLING FORD I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ME. MINE STARTED IN 2012 WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE THE FRONT WINDOWS WOULD NO LONGER OPEN. NEXT WHEN YOU TRIED TO PUT THE HEAT ON IN THE REAR THERE WAS STRANGE NOISE AND NOW I'M TO AFRAID TO USE IT. THE PAST 3 YRS THE GAUGES GO HAYWIRE. SOMETIMES IF YOU HIT THE DASH IT'LL STOP BUT LOCKS UP AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR SPEED IS. IF I LEAVE IT ALONE SOMETIMES IT WILL STOP ON IT'S OWN BUT LOCKS UP TO WHEREVER IT STOPS AT. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE ABS LIGHT WILL COME ON. FOR OVER 2 YRS NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. I HAD IT CHECKED & WAS TOLD IT WAS THE O2 SENSORS FOR WHICH I REPLACED, 3 DAYS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN THEY SAID IT WAS THE O2 SENSORS. IN THE PAST 2 1/2 YRS I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING THE BATTERY LIGHT WILL COME ON. IF I ACCELERATE IT GOES OFF BUT NOBODY KNOWS WHY THE BATTERY KEEPS DYING. SOME SAY ITS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM DRAINING THE BATTERY. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON FOR NO REASON SO I HAD THEM REMOVED AS I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE DRAINING THE BATTERY. LAST SUMMER OUT OF THE BLUE THE A/C STARTED MAKING A NOISE AND JUST QUIT JUST LIKE A MONTH AGO I HEARD THIS CLICKING NOISE ONLY TO FIND OUT I HAD NO HEAT. I SPOKE TO FORD ABOUT THE GAUGES, THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, THE A/C AND SOME OF THE OTHER ISSUES AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS IT WASN'T ON THEIR RECALL LIST AND WOULD ONLY FIX THE REAR AXLE, CRUISE CONTROL AND THE FRONT IF THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG. WHEN I MENTIONED ALL THE INFO I FOUND ON NHTSA'S SITE ABOUT THIS VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT IS FIXED. I AM DISABLED AND AM LIVING IN A PLACE FOR THE HOMELESS & WITH ALL THESE PROBLEMS HOW DOES FORD EXPECT ME TO FIX THEIR DEFECTS? EVERY TIME I HAVE TO DRIVE WHICH ISN'T OFTEN I PRAY I MAKE IT TO & FROM SAFELY. *TR
LIVED IN THE SALT BELT STATE OF IL. WHEN I WAS DRIVING, FRONT SUBFRAME FALLING OFF AND SOME COMPONENTS WERE TOUCHING THE GROUND DUE TO SEVERE FRONT SUBFRAME RUSTED OUT. I LOST STEERING CONTROL AND GEAR CONTROL ON A MULTIPLE LANE ROAD. FORD HAS NEVER SENT ANY NOTICE TO ME REGARDING ANY RECALL. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE VIA NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10026 AND I WOULD LIKE FORD TO REPAIR THE RUSTED SUBFRAME AND ALL OTHER BROKEN COMPONENTS DIRECTLY CAUSED BY SUBFRAM FALLING OFF. FORD REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY CAR RENTAL BY SAYING ?THIS IS AN OLD RECALL AND WE DO NOT GIVE CAR RENTAL NOW?. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000. *TR UPDATED 8/26/13 *CN
I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS. THE ABS LIGHT COMES AFTER 2 MINUTES OF DRIVING AND IT STAYS ON TILL I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MECHANIC TO SEE IF ITS SOMETHING SIMPLE BUT REPLACEMENT WOULD COST TOO MUCH. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT. WHETHER OR NO ITS SAFE-DON'T KNOW. HOPING THE BRAKES WOULD STILL FUNCTION CORRECTLY. *TR
ABS LIGHT COMES ON AFTER ENGINE WARM-UP AND REMAINS ON. AFTER ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAS COOLED, LIGHT IS OFF AT RESTART. IT WILL THEN COME ON AGAIN AFTER ENGINE WARMUP. SPEED CONTROL IS INTERMITTENTLY INOP. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT GOES ON ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES AFTER STARTING. WHEN CAR SHUT OFF & RESTARTED ABS LIGHT IS OFF AND THEN GOES BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE CONTACT HEARD A RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THE REAR AXLE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE REAR AXLE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V195000 (SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE SUB FRAME WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED AND PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V194000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT ANY ADDITIONAL REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE CRACKS IN THE FRONT SUB-FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V194000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
MY WINDSTAR SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION. THE VAN ONLY HAS 119000 AND HAS BEEN ACTING UP FOR THE LAST YEAR. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,098. AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 198,000.

THE SUBFRAME ON MY 1999 FORD WINDSTAR VAN SUBFRAME IS RUSTING INTO HAD TO HAVE IT WELDED TO GET HOME. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING AND SWERVING ABNORMALLY, CASUING THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERD THAT THE BOLTS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED AND HAD CAUSED THE AXLE TO FRACTURE. THE MECHANIC DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BECAUSE THE AXLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION: REAR: AXLE: NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY). THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE BROKEN AXLE BECAUSE IT WAS REPAIRED PREVIOUSLY UNDER THE RECALL AND HAD EXCEEDED THE 12,000 MILE GUARANTEE ON THE COMPONENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE IN CONTACT AT A LATER DATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
SKIMMED TO A STOP,VEHICLES ARE DANGEROUS,BRAKES TIED UP AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TOOK IT TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT ADVISED SYSTEM WAS GOOD,NOW I READ YOU GUYS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAPPEN TO ME,PROVING ITS A DEFECT I WANT TO BE GIVEN CREDIT FOR A NEW FORD WINDFREE. *TR

AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY NEEDED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH LEAKING BREAK FLUID. *KB
THE WINDSTAR WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY OUTSIDE. ENGINE COLD AND TURNED OFF. OUR SON SAW SMOKE OUTSIDE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WE RAISED THE HOOD CAREFULLY AND PUT FIRE OUT WITH FIRE EXT. AND GARDEN HOSE. FIRE WAS UNDER THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WIRING HARNESS BURNED AND OTHER COMPONENTS BY SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH CATCHING FIRE. WE HAD THIS SWITCH REPLACED IN A FORD RECALL, BUT APPEARS THE REPAIR WAS DONE INCORRECTLY (FUSE INSTALLED ON WRONG SIDE OF WIRING HARNESS, ALLOWING THE SWITCH TO REMAIN HOT). SO FORTUNATE THAT THE CAR WAS NOT PARKED IN THE GARAGE, FOR I WOULD NOT BE WRITING THIS REVIEW TODAY! *TR

I START MY 99 FORD WINDSTAR WITH MY WIFE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND MY TWO DAUGTHERS AND MY SON WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMMING TRUE THE HOOD THEN I OPEN THE HOOD AND MY SURPRISE WAS THE BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH ON FIRE I WAS SO SCARED THEN I JUST TAKE MY KIDS AND WIFE OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND COMBACK TO STOP THE FIRE THANKS GOD I HAVE FIRE EXTINGUISHER CLOSE BUT WE HAVE TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE. *TR
1999 FORD WINDSTAR: THE BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH (SCDS) (2B264) LOCATED UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER (BEHIND THE AIR FILTER) HAS LEAKED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF BRAKE FLUID. THE FLUID ACCUMULATES ON THE POWER CONNECTORS FOR THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH ARE POWERED BY FUSES 101 AND 102 AND ARE BOTH 40 AMP. THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS FAILED AND WE ARE FEARFUL THAT THIS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID WILL CAUSE A FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING ROUTINE REPAIRS PERFORMED, SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED AND FRACTURED IN HALF. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO REFERRED HER TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS). THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH A CRACKING SOUND WAS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT NOTICED CORROSION ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES OF THE REAR AXLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE CONTACT'S VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:10V385000 (SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 224,000
IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V385000, FORD MOTOR COMPANY RECALLED 1998-2003 WINSTARS WHICH ARE CURRENTLY REGISTERED OR ORIGINALLY SOLD IN 20 STATES. MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT REGISTERED OR WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD IN ONE OF THOSE STATES. THE REASON THE RECALL SPECIFIED THESE 20 STATES IS BECAUSE THESE 20 STATES FREQUENTLY USE HIGH AMOUNTS OF SALT TO MELT SNOW AND THE SALT CAN/HAS RESULTED IN CORROSION TO THE POWER TRAIN REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY. AS MY VEHICLE IS NOT CURRENTLY REGISTERED AND WAS NOT ORIGINALLY SOLD IN ONE OF THESE STATES, FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT AND WILL NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL. OVER THE 10 YEARS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE, I HAVE FREQUENTLY TRAVELED TO AND THROUGH 6 OF THESE STATES, INCLUDING DURING WINTER MONTHS WHEN THERE HAS BEEN SNOW ON THE GROUND AND SALT HAS BEEN USED TO MELT THE SNOW. AS A RESULT, MY VEHICLE HAS CORROSION ON THE POWER TRAIN REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY AND CRACKS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ONES SHOWN ON PICTURES OF AFFECTED VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ADD MY VEHICLE. ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE WOULD BE APPRECIATED AS I FEAR THAT A COMPLETE FRACTURE OF THE AXLE IS PROBABLE. *TR
AFTER PURCHASING VAN, NOT EVEN ONE MONTH LATER ALL LIGHTS STARTED TO TURN ON ENGINE, ABS NOW N AND ITS A REAR LIGHT ON GAUGE PANEL ALSO WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRYING TO GET DECENT PRICE FOR THE FREEZE PLUG WHICH ALSO NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THERE IS A LEAK OF COOLANT FROM THE BOTTOM OF VAN. OTHER WISE ITS OK TO DRIVE. ONE I THING I DIDN'T MENTION IS THE SEAT ITS STRUCK IT WONT MOVE BACK OR FORWARD WITH THE ELECTRICAL BUTTON. *TR

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE REAR TIRE WHEN THE JACK PENETRATED THE FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
BRAKING DISTANCE SUDDENLY INCREASED -DASHBOARD ABS DISPLAY 'ON'. *TR
THE VAN HAS HAD BOTH THE FRONT SUBFRAME AND REAR AXEL RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED. ON PICKING UP THE VAN, IT STILL HAD A HARD PULL TO THE RIGHT AFTER PAYING FOR AN ALIGNMENT. THE DEALER ATTRIBUTED IT TO THE TIRES. ON PUTTING THE VAN IN FOR PA INSPECTION, IT DID NOT PASS DUE TO "SUBFRAME ROTTED AT REAR TRANSMISSION MOUNT". THE FORD DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL WORK SUBSEQUENTLY LOOKED AT IT, AGREED THE FRAME WAS ROTTED BUT THAT NO RECALLS COVERED IT. THE REPAIR COST IS IN EXCESS OF THE VEHICLE VALUE. I SUSPECT THE ALIGNMENT COULD BE RELATED AS WELL. *TR
STARTING ABOUT A YEAR AGO, THE SPEEDOMETER, RPM METER SWINGS AROUND. ODOMETER LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON WHEN YOU START THE CAR AND LITTLE WHILE LATER ODOMETER LIGHT COMES ON. FUEL GUAGE ALSO SHOWS INCORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL. I THINK THE WHOLE ODOMETER CONTROL PANEL IS NON-FUNCTIONAL. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE SUB FRAME SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE, DUE TO RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,553.
THE ABS LIGHT PERIODICALLY COMES ON. THE BRAKES, FOR NO REASON, OCCASIONALLY SEEM TO GO INTO ABS MODE (AND SEEMS UNRELATED TO THE LIGHT BEING ON OR OFF). THE BRAKES GET SOFTER AND SEEM TO PUMP. I'VE EXPERIENCED REAL ABS WORKING WHEN BRAKING IN NORTH EAST ICE AND SNOW. I'M NOW DRIVING IN THE SOUTH AND THE BRAKING SEEMS PRETTY CLOSE TO WHAT I REMEMBER FOR ACTUAL ABS ACTUATION. I REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND HAD A COMPLETE FLUID CHANGE BUT TO NO EFFECT. *TR
ABS AND TRAC FAILURE LIGHTS COME ON, WINDOWS WON'T GO UP AND DOWN, CRUISE CONTROL CUTS IN AND OUT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES WHEN CRUISE IS ON. FORD REFUSES TO DEAL WITH THIS SITUATION AND STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT WENT ON AFTER OPERATING THE WINDSTAR FOR APPROXIMATELY A MILE. SINCE I NEW I COULD CONTINUE TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY, I COMPLETED MY ERRANDS AND RETURNED HOME. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I FELT EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AND UPON INSPECTION FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE OTHER THREE BRAKES WERE IN NORMAL POSITION. I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT ROTORS, PADS, AND RIGHT FRONT CALIPER. I ALSO REPLACED THE BRAKE FLUID AS IT SMELLED BURNT. WITH THE ABS MODULE CONNECTED, THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD LOCK, SO I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE ABS COMPLETELY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS). THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE INSTALLING NEW TIRES, HE NOTICED THAT THE BRACKET WHICH HELD THE FRONT SWING ARMS IN PLACE WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS BEYOND REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000. STILL GET THE ABS LIGHT WITHOUT A REASON. FORD SAYS "IF THERE'S DUST IN THERE, THE LIGHT WILL COME ON.." REALLY? SO WHY DOES IT COME ON WHEN IT'S RAINING TOO? *TR
ABS LIGHT IS ON CONTINUOUSLY. OVERDRIVE JUMPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR AFTER DRIVING IT 30 MINUTES OR MORE. I READ THE RECALL AND SAFETY REPORT THAT BRAKE FLUID LEAKS ON THE ABS SWITCH CONNECTED TO THE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH CAN CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC FIRE. I DIDN'T RECEIVE ANYTHING IN THE MAIL FROM FORD ON MY VEHICLE ON THIS PROBLEM AS OF YET. ALSO THE COOLANT LINE THAT RAN UNDER PORT INJECTION WAS WELDED LEAKING WATER WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING. *KB
VEHICLE: 99 FORD WINDSTAR LX. PROBLEM: THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNED ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS. THE LIGHT WILL BE ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. IT CAN BE SHUT DOWN AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND THEN RESTART. THE ABS LIGHT WILL BE TURNED ON AGAIN AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. THE REPORTED VEHICLE HAS BEEN SEND TO FORD DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A BROKEN FRONT TONE RING. AFTER THE TONE RING IS REPLACED, THE ABS LIGHT IS TURNED ON AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ON THE ROAD. *KB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RECEIVING NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V385000(SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY), THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER ADVISED HER THAT THE REAR BRACKETS WERE FRACTURED AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SUBFRAME. THE BRACKETS WERE REPLACED BUT NOT THE ENTIRE FRAME. AFTER REPAIRS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A LOUD NOISE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE SWAY BAR WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE WELDED BACK TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY ADVISED HER THAT THEY WOULD NOT TOUCH THE VEHICLE DUE TO HOW THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 190,000.
TOOK VAN IN FOR LATEST RECALL, PICKED UP WITH CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHT ON - WAS NOT ON WHEN WE DROPPED VAN OFF FOR REPAIR. TRANSMISSION FAILED SHORTLY AFTERWARD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
