ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING, CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK, SPEEDOMETER AND RMP GUAGE GOES CRAZY AND STOPS WORKING, LEAKING BREAK FLIUD BUT CAN'T SEEM TO LOCATE PROBLEM, INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND OFF, DOOR LOCKS WILL START GOING UP AND DOWN WHILE DRIVING, REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY AND WILL SOMETIME POP OUT BUT NOT COMPLETELY OPEN WHILE DRIVING, MAKES NOISE WHEN TURING LEFT I HAD THE RACK AND PINION CHANGED BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM THE NOISE JUST GOT WORSE. *TR
ABS LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. NO IMMEDIATE AFFECT ON BRAKING UNTIL USED HARD. THEN REAR BRAKES LOCK-UP IMMEDIATELY. SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT OPEN USING OVERHEAD CONTROL. LOCKS DO NOT 'UN-LOCK' WHEN UNLOCK IS DEPRESSED. CHILD PROTECTIVE DOOR LOCKS ARE OFF, AND STILL THE SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT OPERATE FROM INSIDE HANDLE. THE ONLY AUTOMATIC FUNCTION THAT OPERATE ON THE SLIDING DOORS IS THE 'CLOSE DOOR' BUTTON ON BOTH SIDES. EXTERIOR HANDLES DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR UNTIL THE LOCKS ARE MANUALLY/PHYSICALLY FORCED INTO THE UNLOCK POSITION. DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND GAUGES GO OUT-OF-CONTROL RANDOMLY. IE: SPEEDOMETER GOES FROM 0 - OVERSPEED, TACHOMETER DOES THE SAME AS WELL AS FUEL AND TEMP. *TR
SO I FIXED MY DEFECTIVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER AND GOT A ABS ERROR CODE C1185 WHICH IS A BAD ABS RELAY. THIS RELAY IS DEFECTIVE BY BEING ON THE BACK SIDE OF A HEAT-SINK PLATE THAT MAKES THE BOARD EXPAND AND CONTRACT ALLOWING FOR SOME, IF NOT ALL, OF THE SOLDER JOINTS BREAK. AS IT STANDS NOW I HAVE NO IDEA IF MY VAN IS SAFE TO DRIVE IN ITS CURRENT STATE WITH THE FAILURE OF THAT RELAY NOR WOULD I LIKE TO RISK IT. SO MY VAN SITS DRIVABLE HOWEVER, NOT USED BECAUSE OF FORD'S LACKLUSTER PERFORMANCE ON RECALLS. I WILL NOT PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES ANYMORE!!! IT"S CRIMINAL!!!!! *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND THE GAUGES IN MY INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER STARTED TO GO ALL OVER THE PLACE. THE RPM INDICATOR BROKE OFF AGAINST MY GEAR SELECTOR INDICATOR. REPLACED INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER AND HAD TO BUY A NEW KEY(ONLY HAD ONCE KEY FROM PREVIOUS OWNER) AND REPROGRAM BOTH KEYS TO NEW ANTI-THEFT DEVICE BUILT INTO SAID INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THE WIRING COMING TO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER EITHER. WHEN I ASKED MY MECHANIC WHAT HAD HAPPENED HE SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AND HAPPENED A LOT. ALSO WHEN I REPLACED THE PART ANOTHER ERROR CAME UP THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. SO THIS WHOLE TIME I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE I HAD NO REAL IDEA OF THE STATE OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS COMMON DEFECT. VERY SCARY!!!! COME TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS ANOTHER RECALLED PART (ABS RELAY) THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FILL OUT ANOTHER COMPLAINT FORM FOR. ITS NICE TO KNOW THAT MY ENTIRE VEHICLE HAS A BUILD-IN DEFECT THAT ALLOWS FOR COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE OF THE STATE MY VEHICLE IS IN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWAY CONTINUOUSLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE REAR AXLE AND BOTH FRONT CONTROL ARMS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
ABS LIGHT COMES ON INDICATING THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. FORD SERVICE SAYS ABS MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE COST WILL BE $1000 PLUS TAX. *TR
THE FIRST TIME MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2000 FORD WINDSTAR VAN LX. SHE WAS CROSSING OVER A BRIDGE AND THE REAR AXLE BROKE IN HAVE.THE VAN WAS TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC HE PUT ANOTHER REAR AXLE ON, TO THE TUNE OF 1,750 DOLLARS. THE YEAR THAT WAS 2007. FAST FORWARD TO FEB.2, 2013 I'M BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND GUESS WHAT HAPPENS, YOU GUESSED IT THE REAR AXLE BREAKS AGAIN. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE REAR AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V193000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
2000 FORD WINDSTAR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY IN VEHICLE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE NOTICED A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN SHE BACKED OUT OF HER DRIVEWAY, BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF UNTIL THE SECOND WEEK IN FEBRUARY, WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT IT WAS MUCH LOUDER. THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS SWAYING, WHEN SHE DROVE OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, WHERE A HUGE CRACK WAS FOND IN THE REAR AXLE'S MAN BAR. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN THE CONSUMER AND THE MECHANIC CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, THEY WERE TOLD THERE WE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED FOR THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V030000 (STRUCTURE). THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED AND THE WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A FAILED REINFORCEMENT PLATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 146,000.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD DRAIN THE BATTERY AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY FAIL TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM MODIFICATION RECALL NOTICE PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HE RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IDLING CORRECTLY. THE DEALER STATED THE WORK PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE IMPROPER IDLING ISSUE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE VEHICLE HAD A VACUUM LEAK, AROUND THE MASTER CYLINDER. *JB

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V195000 (SUSPENSION) HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN I TURN THE VAN OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON THE LIGHT GOES OFF. TOOK VAN TO DEALER AND THEY CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS FRONT AND BACK AND TURNED THE ROTORS. IT CONTINUED. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO MIDAS AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A CODE C1185. NO INFORMATION WAS FOUND FOR ARECALL BUT MIDAS TOLD US TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL. *TR

RED BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE OFF AND THE MASTER CYLINDER FULL OF BRAKE FLUID. *TR
LOW BRAKE FLUID/ BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. ADDED A CAP FULL OF BRAKE FLUID AS BRAKE FLUID WAS ALREADY FULL. 2DAYS LATER LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND HAS BEEN ON EVER SINCE. CANNOT FIT ANY MORE BRAKE FLUID. *TR
I WAS HEADING TO THE STORE AS I DO ON A EVERY DAY BASES AND GOING THREW TOWN I HIT A SMALL HOLE IN THE ROAD AND I HEARD A HORN BLOW FROM BEHIND ME AS I LOOKED BACK I SEEN A BIG CHINK OF MY SLIDING DOOR SITTING IN THE ROAD INFRONT OF THE CAR . I NOTICED SMALL RUST ON THE UNDER LINING OF THE DOOR AS IT HAPPENS WITH CARS THIS AGE BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN IN MY 30 OD YEARS A CHUNK BRAKE LOOSE ALMOST CAUSING A ACCIDENT. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR ANY CAR/VAN/SUV TO RUST LIKE THIS AS IM MISSING HALF THE DOOR ON THE ONE SIDE OF THE VAN, I DID REPLACE IT WITH A JUNK YARD ONE BUT STILL. *TR

THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE CRACKED SOLDER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CIRCUIT BOARD. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED. *TR

ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE AFTER ENGAGING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,140.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. WHILE WE WERE DRIVING TO CHURCH THIS MORNING THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. ON OUR WAY HOME FROM CHURCH, IT CAME ON AGAIN AND SO DID THE TRACK OFF LIGHT. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING CONSIDERING THIS VAN ONLY HAS 151,000! *TR
I BOUGHT THE 2000 FORD WINDSTAR ON 09/12/2012. IT HAD 125,000 MILES. AFTER I BOUGHT IT I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC SHOP TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OVER. THEY FOUND THAT THE OUTER AND INNER TIE ROD ENDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE MECHANICS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE FRONT STRUTS AND THE REAR SHOCKS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD ALL THAT WORK COMPLETED FOR AROUND $1,500. THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN IN MY FRONT YARD. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE SERPANTINE BELT WAS SNAPPED IN HALF AND THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING A LITTLE BIT. A HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE MECHANICS FOR $50. THE MECHANICS DIAGNOSED THE POWERTRAIN. THE MECHANICS FOUND THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND IT ALSO HAD TO HAVE A EVAC AND RECHARGE THE A/C SYSTEM. THIS COSTED ME $705.98. A FEW MONTHS LATER, WHICH IS NOW, ON 12/21/2012, THE VEHICLE IS STARTING TO MAKE A LOUD CLICKING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE, OR ATLEAST I THINK IT IS THE ENGINE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN LIKE THERE WAS A POWER SURGE OR SOMETHING, LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BRAKE DOWN, SO I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND DROVE 15-20 MILES BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT, ALL THE WAY UNTIL I COULD MAKE IT SAFELY BACK HOME. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT THIS TIME. I HAVE ALREADY INVESTED ALMOST $2,000 INTO THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS! *TR

INSTRUMENT PANEL/SPEEDOMETER FAILS VA INSPECTION. FORD WON'T FIX IT. PARTS HARD TO FIND AS ANYONE WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE, RIM, AND ALL LUGNUTS JUST FLEW OFF. I WENT INTO A DITCH. MAJOR DAMAGE. I AM DISCOVERING THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VANS AND I PLAN TO SUE FORD. *TR

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V195000 (SUSPENSION) BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE YEARS LATER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,723.
I HAVE 2 PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES, PROBLEM 1 THE MASTER CYLINDER IS LEAKING, CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHT TO COME ON. PROBLEM 2 THE ABS LIGHT WILL COME ON WHEN DRIVING, IT TURNS ITSELF ON AND OFF. POWER TRAIN, THE O/D LIGHT WILL FLASH WHEN STARTING UP, WILL TURN OFF AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES USING BOTH AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE A VACUUM LINE WAS DISCONNECTED HOWEVER, DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS SERVICED AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DECARBONIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 128,000.
EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD IS LIT UP, INCLUDING THE ABS, BRAKE, CHECK ENGINE, ETC. THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK. THE AIR CONDITIONER DOESN'T WORK. THE REAR AXLE BROKE, THANKFULLY I WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY. ALSO, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REAR AXLE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. ALL THIS STARTED HAPPENING BEFORE THE VEHICLE HAD 100,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER I TOOK IT TO FOR THE LAST RECALL SAID THAT FORD SHOULD BUY ALL THE VANS BACK. *TR
INTERMITTENT NON OPERATING ABS. TRACED TO ABS ECM DEFECTIVE OPERATION. FROZEN STAINLESS STEEL SCREWS INTO ALUMINUM MOUNT PREVENTED REMOVAL OF ABS ECM FOR PLANNED REBUILD. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THERE IS A DESIGN AND BUILD DEFECT TYPICAL TO THIS UNIT THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. DESIGN DEFECT -ALUMINUM SHEET HEAT SINK WHICH HAS A GREATER COEFFICIENT OF THERMAL EXPANSION THAN CIRCUIT BOARD CONTRIBUTING TO STRESS ON IMPROPERLY MADE SOLDER JOINTS ON CIRCUIT BOARD(BUILD DEFECT). *TR
ON 8/12/12 AS I WAS DRIVING TO NEW YORK I NOTICE THAT EVERY TIME THERE IS A WEIGHT TRANSFER I HEARD A CLUNKING SOUND ON THE RIGHT FRONT, AFTER RETURNING TO NEW JERSEY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SEARS AUTO TO HAVE IT CHECK OUT AND WAS TOLD AND SHOWN THE DEFECT WAS WITH THE FRAME WORK WHICH A RECALL WAS DONE FOR IN 2011. THE REPAIR THAT THE DID IN 2011 TO THE FRAME WAS IN MY OPINION A DEATH TRAP AND I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU SEND A INSPECTOR TO INSPECT THE REPAIR THAT FORD SAID THEY DID TO THESE FRAME WORK, THE STRAP THAT THEY PUT ON THE FRAME IN MY OPINION IS LIKE PUTTING A BAND AID ON A THIRD DEGREE BURN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO FORD DEALER IN HACKENSACK NJ AND THEY ARE GIVING ME A HARD TIME, MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN THERE FROM FRIDAY AND TODAY IS SATURDAY @ 1430 THEY STILL HAVEN'T LOOK AT IT, MAYBE BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF MY SKIN THE REALLY DON'T CARE, BUT I DON'T THINK SAFETY SHOULD COME DOWN TO THE COLOR OF A PERSON SKIN. ABS LIGHT IS ON BEFORE CHANGING BRAKES. AFTER CHANGING, IT WENT OFF FOR A FEW DAYS AND IS NOW BACK ON. *TR
ABS LIGHT WENT ON AFTER GETTING WET DUE TO RAIN ON THE PAVEMENT. APPARENTLY HAS SHORTED OUT SOMETHING. FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. ALSO, THE DASH LIGHT REPRESENTING A TURN SIGNAL BURN OUT WENT ON, BUT THE TURN SIGNALS ARE ALL FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED AND REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V195000 (SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY). LATER, A MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS FRACTURED AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRACKET THAT WAS INSTALLED DURING THE RECALL REPAIR HAD CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS MAKING A DECISION ON OF ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,000.
BOTH THE ABS AND BRAKES LIGHTS CAME ON. JUST DURING THIS LAST MONTH, THE BRAKES HAVE GONE FROM BEING FINE TO ALMOST NOT STOPPING THE VAN. I AM NOW SCRAMBLING TO GET THEM FIXED. THIS CAME ON VERY SUDDENLY. *TR
I WAS JUST TOLD THAT THE ELECTRICAL CLUSTER FOR THE SPEEDOMETER/RPM/GAS GAUGES ON MY 2000 FORD WINDSTAR VAN IS FAULTY. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PERIODS OF TIME WHEN THE GAUGES WORK JUST FINE, WON'T WORK AT ALL, OR GO COMPLETELY BESERK. THEY ACT OUT AT VARIOUS TIMES; IE: JUST YESTERDAY, I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VAN FOR ABOUT 15 MIN, GAUGES WORKING FINE, WHEN I PUT IT INTO PARK ALL THE GAUGES WENT CRAZY, WITH THE RPM NEEDLE ENDING UP BURIED PAST THE HIGHEST IT COULD GO. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE IT HASN'T WORKED/GONE BESERK UPON START UP. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN TIMES WHERE IT IS WORKING JUST FINE ON START UP AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES/MILES THEY ALL GO BESERK OR STOP WORKING COMPLETELY, AND AT THAT POINT, SOMETIMES IT GOES BACK TO WORKING FINE, AND OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T. MY DAD JUST GOT THIS VAN FOR MY KIDS AND I LESS THAN A MONTH AGO, THINKING IT WOULD BE A SAFE VEHICLE FOR US. IT'S SAD TO THINK THAT MY DAD THREW MONEY AWAY ON A VEHICLE THAT HIS REGULAR MECHANIC NOW SAYS TO JUST SELL/JUNK IT AND GET A DIFFERENT VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE GAUGE CLUSTER BEING FAULTY, THE RECALLS ON THE VAN AND THE MOUNT FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BEING BUSTED. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THE REAR AXLE BROKE. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. I WENT TO THE FORD WEB SITE AND THEY CLAIM THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS MODEL. I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE.. THANKS *TR
VEHICLE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR & SPEEDOMETER STOPPED ALL AT SAME TIME. FUSE 10 AMP WAS BLOWN AND WHEN REPLACED CONTINUED TO BLOW OUT
I STARTED MY VAN AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ON.
ALL THE GAUGES STARTED JUMPING BACK AND FORTH WITH THE SPEEDOMETER STICKING PAST 120. IT STAYED THERE FOR SEVERAL DAYS, WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND THEN HAS REPEATED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE TAC GAUGE ACTS UP IT WEDGES THE SHIFT INDICATOR MAKING IT STICK IN PARK POSITION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE A SPEEDOMETER NOT WORK AND NOT KNOWING THE TRANS GEAR YOU ARE IN BECAUSE THE INDICATOR POSITION ONLY STAYS IN PARK. FORD SHOULD MAKE GOOD ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE. REPLACING THE GAUGE ASSEMBLY IS COSTLY. *TR
GAUGES GO CRAZY AND DON'T WORK HALF THE TIME. ABS LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. STEERING CREEKS. THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR BUT FORD SOMEHOW SAYS IT IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BUT MAY BECOME A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY WILL LISTEN AND ACT? *TR
THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD GOES "CRAZY" WHILE DRIVING; THE SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND GAS GAUGE FLUXUATE, EVEN AT IDLE. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. THE MECHANICS THINK IT IS A BAD SOLDER JOINT IN THE ECU MASTER RELAY. MY ABS BRAKES NO LONGER WORK BECAUSE OF A BAD SOLDER JOINT THAT FAILED PREMATURELY! *TR
WHILE HAVING NEW TIRES INSTALLED, I WAS MADE AWARE THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED AND HAD HOLES IN IT. I HAD GOT A RECALL NOTICE THE DAY AFTER FORD PUT A NEW REAR AXLE IN THE WINDSTAR. (DID THEY NOT KNOW ABOUT THE NEW RECALL?) AFTER HAVING THE SUB FRAME KIT PARTS INSTALLED, THE PASSENGER SIDE SUB FRAME WAS PERFORATED, THE NOISE FROM THE RIGHT SIDE UNDER PASSENGER FEET STARTED. I WENT BACK TO DEALER THAT DID THE REPAIRS (BILL BROWN IN LIVONIA, MI>) THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS TIGHT AND VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE NOISE HAS GOT WORSE AND LOUDER. I CALLED FORD IN DEARBORN AND THEY SAID IF BILL BROWN SAYS ITS SAFE THEN IT IS SAFE? I HAVE TO DRIVE THIS CAR AND THE FACT THAT IS MAKES NOISE HAS ME CONCERNED. RAN IT BY BILL BROWN AFTER 6 MONTHS AND TOOK THE SERVICE GUY FOR A RIDE AND HE SAID HE SHOULD LOOK AT IT. THE CAR STARTED TO PULL TO LEFT AND I WENT TO THE TIRE SHOP. WENT BY FOR A TIRE ROTATION AND ALIGNMENT, WAS INFORMED THE SUB FRAME IS CRACKED AND ONLY HAS 10 PERCENT OF METAL LEFT HOLDING IT TOGETHER. GOING TO DEALER THIS WEEK...................LETS SEE IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE STILL! *TR
