BRAKING DISTANCE SUDDENLY INCREASED, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT GET ON. *TR
ABS BRAKE LIGHTS ON, AFTER RESEARCH, ITS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FAULTY ABS MODULES. SUBFRAME IS ROTTING OUT WITH THE MOUNTING POINTS OF THE SUBFRAME PEELING AWAY. O/D LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY, AFTER RESEARCH, COMMON PROBLEM POINTS BACK TO A BAD VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR. MILEAGE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A FACTOR. FAULTY HARD LINES FOR REAR HEATING. MULTIPLE CRACKS IN LINES CAUSE RADIATOR FLUID LOSS. VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM, LOOKED AT 10-15 WINDSTARS IN PULL-A-PARTS LOT, ALL WITH FAULTY HARD LINES. *TR
CHECK TRACTION CONTROL APPEARS ON THE DIGITAL READOUT. THE ABS, BRAKE AND TRAC OFF WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. TURNING OFF VEHICLE RESETS ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS TEMPORARILY. MORE FREQUENT DURING WARM WEATHER, BUT OCCURS YEAR ROUND. VERY CONCERNING TO ME AS ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL ARE DISABLED WHEN LIGHTS COME ON. *TR
ALL THE TIME WHEN I'M DRIVING THE ABS/BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP PROPERLY. THE #10 AND 15 FUSE BLOWS OUT REGULARLY AND CAUSES THE AIR, ODOMETER, OVERDRIVE TO NOT WORK. I SMELL BURNING ELECTRICITY, AND SEE SMOKE COMING FROM HOOD WHILE DRIVING. SOME MORNING MY VAN DOESN'T START DUE TO BATTERY DRAINAGE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT STAY OFF CAUSING IT NOT PASS INSPECTION. BRAKE FLUID LEAKING. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE FLUID LEAK IS CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS, AND IT LOOKS LIKE I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON. WITH THE SPEED CONTROL RECALL THE ABS MODULE AND ECM NEEDED TO BE INCLUDED. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE 09V399000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, DUE TO A BRAKE FLUID LEAK IT CAUSED THE WIRING HARNESS TO BURN. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD NOT BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL; THEREFORE, DID NOT CHECK THAT COMPONENT WHEN THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILES WERE 145,000.

ABS WARNING LIGHT ON, TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE LIGHT ALSO ON I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THE ABS MODULE HAS FAILED. *TR
2002 FORD WINDSTAR, 153028 MILES SAT BECAUSE OF REAR AXLE BROKE CLOSE TO HOME. GOT RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD FOR AXLE. CONTACTED COUNTRY ROADS FORD IN NEW MARTINSVILLE WV. THEY HAD VAN FOR COUPLE MONTHS WAITING FOR AXLE. AXLE WAS REPLACED BUT NO OTHER RECALLS WERE DONE PHYSICALLY. THE MECHANIC SIGNED THAT ALL WAS DONE. I GOT IN VAN, WHICH SAT FOR A COUPLE WEEKS, ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT LITE AND NO BRAKES. PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. PUMPED BRAKES AN GRABBED E-BRAKE TO STOP INCHES FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. TOOK IT HOME AFTER FILLING MASTER CYLINDER WITH FLUID. FOUND THAT IT WAS LEAKING THRU THE SWITCH ITSELF. BRAKE FLUID TRAILED TO DIFFERENT CONNECTORS.TOOK IT BACK TO FORD. THEY DID THE RECALL FOR THE BRAKE SENSOR AND THE SUB FRAME. 11S16. NOW THE ENGINES REVS TO 2000 RPM WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED AND WHEN ITS SHIFTED FROM GEAR TO GEAR AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. REVS UP AT ANY TIME WHICH IS A HAZARD TO ANYONE IN OR NEAR THE VEHICLE WHEN OPERATING AT LITES, IN STORE PARKING AREAS. THE WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED WAS MANUFACTURED 06-27-2008. PART NO. BW7T14A411A35NB CA. DIAGNOSTIC CODES CHANGE WHEN THE BATTERY TERMINALS ARE REMOVED, THEN REPLACED FOR RESETTING COMPUTER. THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. SHUTS OFF DURING DRIVING. THE UNCONTROLLABLE ENGINE REVS IS THE MOST SERIOUS OF THE PROBLEMS. CALLED COUNTRY ROADS FORD AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T CAUSED BY ANYTHING THEY DID FOR THE RECALLS AND THAT ONLY 3 PERTAINED TO MY VEHICLE. HAVING A DIFFERENT SHOP LOOK AT IT. *TR
2002 FORD WINDSTAR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR VEHICLE, THE LAST INVOLVING THE SUBFRAME SNAPPING AND SEPARATING FROM THE BODY CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL *TGW THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE REAR AXLE SNAPPED IN HALF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK TRANSMISSION LAMP ILLUMINATED. ALSO, HE MENTIONED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION WOULD FAIL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,240.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF RECALL NUMBER:11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE ENTIRE MOUNT WAS COVERED WITH RUST AND THE RECALL REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WAS INDICATED IN THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
1. NONE SPECIFIC. THE RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED THAT REPLACES SOME WIRING IN ORDER TO AVOID POSSIBLE FIRE. 2. THE FAILURE IS A YELLOW ABS BRAKE LIGHT AND RED BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER COMING ON TOGETHER FAIRLY OFTEN BUT NOT ALWAYS. I UNDERSTAND THESE LIGHTS, SPECIFICALLY THE ABS LIGHT, MEANS THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT IN OPERATION MEANING PROBABLE LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES. I SUSPECT AS OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED THESE LIGHTS ARE CAUSED BY A HEAT BUILDUP PROBLEM IN THE ABS MODULE THAT CAUSES THE MODULE TO WARP AND FAIL. 3. THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING. *KB
WHILE DRIVING WE NOTICED A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND THE CAR PULLED TO THE SIDE. WE STOPPED AT A FIRESTONE AND THEY SHOWED ME THAT THE SUBFRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE MOTOR MOUNT WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN LOOSE. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT WE GO TO FORD. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT OUR MINIVAN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS HERE IN FLORIDA. I HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH MY SPINE AND THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT A SMALL ACCIDENT COULD BE FATAL. I CALLED THE NUMBER FORD SERVICE MANAGER GAVE ME. FORD REFUSED TO HELP. EVEN THOUGH THE SUBFRAME CORRODED AND BROKE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AS WAS THE CONCERN WITH RECALLED VANS, THEY FLATLY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING -- NOT EVEN PROVIDE A DISCOUNT ON LABOR! SINCE THIS CAR IS HERE IN FLORIDA, IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THE CORROSION MUST HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURE. I NEED THE VAN TO GET TO PHYSICAL THERAPY AND TO TAKE CARE OF MY FAMILY. IT IS NOT JUST THAT I SHOULD PAY THE $1700-$1800 THAT FORD ESTIMATES WILL BE THE COST TO FIX THEIR ERROR AND AM LEFT WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. IF I HAD NOT NOTICED THE POPPING SOUND, I COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND BEEN DEAD OR PARALYZED FROM MY NECK DOWN!

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY) AND 11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS). UPON RECEIVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE AUTHORIZED DEALER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT WOULD ALSO HEAR RATTLING AND BANGING NOISES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A BRACKET ON THE FRAME WAS HANGING OFF AND THE PIPING WAS STILL CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

ELECTRICAL SHORTS FIRE , AC , BRAKES SPEEL CONTROL ,LOCKS DOORS
1ST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED UNTIL CAR WAS TURNED OFF. LIGHTS NOW COME ON RANDOMLY. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP ON AUG. 31 2002 FOR RECALL ON FRONT AND REAR AXLES. THEY INSTALLED SHACKLES ON SUSPENSION AND SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. AFTER I CAME HOME WITH VEHICLE, I NOTICED A CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM THE R/F WHEEL AREA AND MY OVERDRIVE OFF DASH LIGHT STARTS FLASHING RANDOMLY UNTIL CAR IS TURNED OFF. CONCERNING THE ABS ISSUE, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ABS CONTROL MODULE, THEN HE TOLD ME THAT THEY DID THE EXACT SAME REPAIR ON ANOTHER 02' WINDSTAR EARLIER THAT WEEK AND THE REPAIR WOULD COST $700-$800 DOLLARS. COINCIDENCE???? *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, NOTED THAT THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. CHECKED FLUIDS AND PADS AND THEY APPEARED FINE. SINCE THAT TIME, THE LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY COME ON. FRONT BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AS WELL. HAVE HAD 3 INDEPENDENT SHOPS LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND ALL SAY THAT THE ABS MODULE HAS FAILED. WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED, ABS DOES NOT FUNCTION. VEHICLE NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000 MILES (04/22/2013). *TR

MY VAN ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF ALL THE TIME. IT HAS BEEN STAYING ON MORE OFTEN. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED, TEMP, TIME, OR IF BRAKES ARE APPLIED. IS MY VAN SAFE AND WHY HASN'T FORD DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON DIFFERENT SITE. *TR
BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY THERE WAS A HORRIBLE SOUND, LIKE THE BRAKES STICKING. EMPLOYEE GOT OUT & THE TIRE WAS CUT COMPLETELY AROUND. THE ESTIMATE IS $900 TO REPLACE THE SPRINGS & STRUTS ON BOTH SIDES. I FEEL THIS IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO THE INVESTIGATION & FINDINGS OF THE SALT BELT CORROSION ISSUES, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE SPECIFIC COMPONENTS EFFECTED ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE ABS LIGHT TURNED ON AS WELL AS THE BRAKE LIGHT TURNS ON AND STAYS ON. THIS STARTED TO HAPPEN ABOUT A MONTH AGO AFTER I HAD OTHER REPAIRS DONE AS WELL AS TWO RECALLS THAT WERE LOOKED AT. WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE ABS LIGHT, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND IT WOULD COST ME APPROXIMATELY $700 FOR THE REPAIRS. *TR

THE ENGINE ALSO BEGAN TO FUNCTION ROUGH AND BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THEY HAD TO REPAIR THE ELECTRIC SWITCH ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RESERVOIR AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE FAILURE IS THE SAME AS RECALL 09V399000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
ON APRIL 16TH I TOOK MY FORD WINDSTAR IN FOR REPAIRS AND TWO FORD RECALLS. AFTER RETURNING MY CAR I NOTICED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE ABS LIGHT TURNED ON AS WELL AS THE BRAKE LIGHT. I WAS CONCERNED AND ASKED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO CHECK THIS. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE ABS MODULE REPLACED WHICH IS A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $700. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THIS BUT THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING SAFE SINCE THIS HAPPENED. IT FEELS LIKE IT SLIPS WHEN I BRAKE AND IT'S BEEN RAINING A LOT HERE IN FLORIDA SO I'M VERY CONCERNED. I THINK IT IS FORD'S RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT A TEST WAS NOT CONDUCTED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE 2002 FORD WINDSTAR AND MY REAR LIGHTS ( TAIL LIGHT, BACKUP LIGHTS AND INDICATORS ) KEEPING GOING OFF QUITE OFTEN. IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN A SPAN OF 3 MONTHS AND THE DEALER OR OTHER MECHANICS HAVE NO EXPLANATION FOR IT. I NEED TO REPLACE IT NOW AGAIN. WHY DOES IT KEEP GOING OFF SO OFTEN? THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT KEEP TURNING ON AND OFF. THIS HAPPENS AS SOON AS THE CAR HAS HEATED UP . IT IS NOT ON WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR IT ONLY COMES ON AFTER I HAVE DRIVE THE CAR FOR A WHILE. THIS PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. WHEN I TALKED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY ACTED AS IF THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSTARS ABS ECM SYSTEM. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. I THOUGHT THE ABS BREAKING SYSTEM WAS AN IMPORTANT SYSTEM ON CARS! DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS DUE A DEFECTIVE PART AND FORD WANTS TO BRUSH IT UNDER THE RUG. NOW I KNOW WHY THE DEALER ACTED AS IF HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT MANY WINDSTARS ARE HAVING AND THEY WANT TO IGNORE IT. THEIR SEEMS TO BE NO CONCERN FOR SAFETY HERE. I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BY GOING ON THE INTERNET AND ASKING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY VAN. I HOPE FORD ADMITS TO THIS PROBLEM AND ADDRESSES IT SO NO LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO POOR BRAKE PERFORMANCE! *TR
MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR STARTED TO DISPLAY THE BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS INDICATOR LIGHTS, INDICATING THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS CAUSES THE TRACTION CONTROL NOT TO WORK, AND THE ABS TO SHUT DOWN. STANDARD BRAKES STILL FUNCTION. AT FIRST, THE LIGHTS WOULD STAY OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR. I WOULD START TO DRIVE, THEN I MIGHT HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE LIGHTS WOULD REAPPEAR. NOW, THE 3 LIGHTS ARE ON AS SOON AS I START THE CAR OR WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING, WITH OR WITHOUT HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON - 2002 FORD WINDSTAR - SEEMS TO BE COMMON COMPLAINT ONLINE SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED IN 2003 - DIAGNOSTICS SAYS IT'S THE O2 SENSOR, THIS IS NOT THE CASE VEHICLE IDLES ERRATICALLY AT STOPS - SOME HESITATION - NOW HESITATES AND RUNS BAD IN RAIN I'VE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE - ENGINE ONCE - CRAPPY VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL BEGAN TO SPILL OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH ABS LIGHT AND NOW TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. *TR
ONGOING PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN TSB 04-17-4 & 03-16-1. THESE TSB'S TELL US THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS AWARE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW AND CONTINUED TO MANUFACTURE AND SELL DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. THE PROBLEM EXIST IN THEIR FAULTY 3.8L ENGINE AT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE POOR DESIGN ALLOWS OIL TO SEEP INTO THE INTAKE PLENUM AND OVER TIME THE OIL ERODES AWAY THE RUBBER AROUND THE ISOLATOR BOLTS AND GASKETS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE READS LEAN FUEL CODES ON BANKS 1& 2 AND A VACUUM LEAK. TO COMPENSATE FOR THESE LEAN CODES , MORE GASOLINE IS PUMPED INTO THE PLENUM CAUSING A RICH EXHAUST MIXTURE WHICH IS THEN SENT OUT THE TAIL PIPE INTO THE ATMOSPHERE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY DESIGNED AND BUILT THESE ENGINES AND THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM. REMEMBER, THIS IS AN ONGOING WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THESE ENGINES FOULING UP THE AIR THAT WE BREATH EVERY DAY. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH RECENTLY REPLACED BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING MAY HAVE FAULTY SWITCH OR MASTER CYLINDER DAMAGED DURING INSTALLATION CAUSING FLUID LEAK THAT IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE CAUSING FIRE OR SMOKE FROM 2002 WINDSTAR MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WERE FAULTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT WHEN THE CONTACT TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACTS MECHANIC DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING SPECIFIC THAT CAUSED THE FAILURE, ONLY THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THAT YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE AND THAT IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
RECALL ON FRONT SUBFRAMES ON WINDSTARS. MINE IS BAD, FORD DOES NOT HAVE PARTS, WILL NOT BUY IT BACK AND WANTS ME TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING OVER 100 MILES/DAY ON THE RENTAL. THEY ALSO GAVE ME A RENTAL THAT IS 50.00/DAY AND THEY WILL ONLY PAY 38.00. REAR MOUNTS ARE MISSING CHUNKS, WAS TOLD THERE WAS A CRACK ON DRIVERS SIDE NOW TOLD THERE IS NOT, ASK THEM TO RELOOK TO BE SURE AND WAS TOLD NO. THEY CLAIM IT IS REPAIRABLE BUT HAS LOTS OF RUST IN ADDITION TO THE MISSING CHUNKS. I HAVE COPIES OF THE PICTURES THE DEALER TOOK. *TR
2002 FORD WINDSTAR: WHILE DRIVING ON HENRY HUDSON PKWY IN NYC, NORTHBOUND, SOUTH OF DYKMAN STREET, THERE WERE SEVERAL LOUD BANGING SOUNDS FROM THE REAR ON THE RAN, FOLLOWED A FEW SECONDS LATER BY A WAILING SOUND, AND THE REAR OF THE CAR WOULD FISHTAIL WHENEVER THE STEERING WAS TURNED. WHEN THE CAR WAS WRESTLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND I EXITED, THERE WAS THE SMELL OF BURNING RUBBER. CLOSER INSPECTION REVEALED BOTH REAR WHEELS TOED-OUT, AND AN OBVIOUS BREAK IN THE REAR AXLE. THE BREAK OCCURRED ON THE LEFT SIDE, ABOUT 1/3 OF THE WAY ACROSS THE LENGTH OF THE AXLE. CAR WAS TOWED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND REMAINS PARKED PENDING REPAIRS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, WHEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS BEGAN TO FLASH INDICATING THAT THE ODOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, AIR CONDITIONING AND THE ABS HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
BROUGHT MY VAN IN BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NON-OPERATIONAL. A BURNING SMELL COULD BE NOTICED ONCE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STUCK ON. HAD THE SHOES, DRUMS AND WHEEL CYLINDERS REPLACED/REPAIRED. BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH REAR LIGHTS STAYING ON AND THE BURNING SMELL. SHOP REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH, CLAIMING THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE STICKING. THIS STILL DID NOT STOP THE PROBLEM. MANY MORNINGS I GO TO START MY VEHICLE AND FIND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON OR THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START BECAUSE THE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN ON OVERNIGHT. TOOK MY VAN TO ANOTHER AUTO SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY TOO SUGGESTED A BRAKE SWITCH. CURRENTLY I AM STILL DEALING WITH THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON AND STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING OR COMING ON WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE. I ALSO HAVE THE BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY ON THE DASH WHILE DRIVING. *TR

AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A CLUNKING NOISE EXHIBITED FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS WATER DRIPPING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER LINE WHERE THE ORIGINAL CORROSION OCCURRED ON THE SUB FRAME, WHICH CORRODED THE COMPONENT THAT WAS ADDED UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN THEN ADVISED THAT THE SUB FRAME WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VAN WON'T GO INTO GEAR OR DRIVE . I DON'T KNOW IF IT THE CORROSION FRACTURES OF FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM OR TRANSMISSION . TRYING TO FIND OUT IF ANY RECALLS WOULD BE ON THE VAN ON WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT .
