I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FORDS AND THEY SAY MY BRACKET GUARD NEAR REAR AXLE IS DEFECTED AND WAS UNDER FORD RECALL AND THAT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD , THOUGH WHEN TERRY HENDRICKS FORD SENT IN A CLAIM THEY SAD IT HAD EXPIRED ALTHOUGH I NEED IT RECALLED FOR REPAIR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN VEERING TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT. THE CONTACT TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT DROVE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO QUICKLY DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED IN HALF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DORIAN FORD (35900 GRATIOT AVE, CLINTON TWP, MI 48035, (586) 792-4100) IN 2016 FOR AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR REGARDING THE BRACKETS FOR THE REAR AXLE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND PASSED IT ON FEBRUARY 9, 2016. THE DEALER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY WERE ONLY CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED BY A WARRANTY AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,643. *BF CONSUMER STATED DORIAN FORD DID A RECALL INSPECTION ON FEB 9 2016 AND CERTIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE CONCERNING THE AXEL. THE MILEAGE AT TIME OF REPLACEMENT IS 113,643. WHILE DRIVING ON X WAY APPOX. 60 MPH, NOTICED SMOKE EMITTING FROM REAR OF CAR AND BEGIN HEARING A CLICKING SOUND. AS I WAS PULLING CAR OVER TO SIDE THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SUDDENLY DEFLATED. TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED, UPON LOADING OF VEHICLE ON BED OF TRUCK WAS ABLE TO SEE REAR AXLE IN THE MIDDLE TOWARD PASSENGER SIDE HAD RUSTED THRU RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BRACKET FORD HAD INSTALLED IN 2011 DUE TO A RECALL. WAS INFORMED THAT IN 2015-16 FORD DID ANOTHER RECALL ON THE BRACKET NOT BEING IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. AS SHOWED IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO THERE IS ONLY ONE BRACKET INSTALLED, MY UNDERSTANDING THERE SHOULD BE TWO. BUT EVEN THEN THAT DOES NOT RESOLVED THE RUST PROBLEM, IT JUST HOLDS THE AXLE WHEN IT DOES BREAK OR CORRODE THRU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLUNKING SOUND EMERGING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V608000 (SUSPENSION) BACK IN 2015 FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT FAILED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED GARY CROSSLEY FORD AT (816) 781-4844 (LOCATED AT 8050 N CHURCH RD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64158) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, A LOUD NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BOTH REAR WHEELS WERE ANGLED INWARD INSIDE THE WHEEL WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR AXLE HAD FRACTURED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED IN 2012 UNDER THE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V193000 (POWER TRAIN) TO PREVENT THE FAILURE FROM OCCURRING. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE LOCAL DEALER THAT THE AXLE WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

FORD REAR AXLE RECALL. RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR AN INSPECTION OF THE REAR AXLE , WHICH FAILED. THE DEALER FOUND ANOTHER RECALL ABOUT A FRONT CONTROL ARM, WHICH THEY FIXED. THE REAR AXLE WAS AT MY EXPENSE. THE AXLE HAD THE BRACKETS INSTALLED, BUT IMPROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, THAT THE AXLE COULD BREAK AT ANY TIME. I'M ON DISABILITY AND CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE AN AXLE THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY FORD. I ALSO CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE! I HAVE TO DRIVE REGARDLESS OF THIS ISSUE!

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRACKETS WERE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE CAUSE OF THE CRUNCHING NOISE AND SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON THE RED BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON IT IS THROWING 9 CODE STARTING WITH C1185 AND 8 OTHER THAT ARE CONNECTED WITH THE FIRST CODE I AVE TRIED AND TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES IT WILL NOT PASS A SAFETY CHECK. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND HIS CAN BE DANGEROUS AND VERY UNSAFE I KNOW IT CAN CATCH A FIRE AND ALSO THE BRAKES MAY LOCK UP.

MY TIRES WIGGLE WHEN DRIVING LIKE THEY ARE ABOUT TO COME OFF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO BEAU TOWNSEND FORD LINCOLN (1020 W NATIONAL RD, VANDALIA, OH 45377, (937) 898-5841). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRACKETS FAILED TO SECURE THE REAR AXLE, WHICH THEN CAUSED THE REAR AXLE TO PREMATURELY FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V608000 (SUSPENSION). THE DEALER DID NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE STATUTE TO RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS EXPIRED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO COVER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO REPLACE THE REAR AXLE DUE TO THE MIS-INSTALLATION OF THE BRACKETS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION), AND NHTSA ACTION NUMBERS: EA10007 (SUSPENSION AND STRUCTURE) AND PE10006 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
REAR AXEL CRACKED CAUSING WHEELS TO TILT AND HIT INSIDE WHEEL OPENING . NOTICED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STARTED TO SHIMMEY AND SHAKE . MADE NOISE WHEN TURNING. VAN IS NOW PARKED VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN RECALL AND DEALER SAID THE REPAIR WAS NOT NEEDED.
RH BACK SIDE OF SUBFRAME, IS ROTTED/CORRODED SO BAD THAT THE METAL TORE ALL AROUND THE SUBFRAME BUSHING. TO WHERE IT IS NOT BEING HELD UP BY THE BUSHING ON THE RIGHT HAND LOWER/BACK IS NOT HOLDING UP THE FRONT SUBFRAME... NOW, THE VEHICLE IS MAKING A VERY LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN DRIVING AND TURNING... AND WHEN TURNING FAST ENOUGH (MORE TURNING LEFT THEN RIGHT) CAN FEEL WHOLE FRONT END JERK LIKE ITS ABOUT TO GO THE OPPOSITE WAY THE VAN...REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY AND CONTROL ARM TO FIND OUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN AFTER REPAIRS AND LOOKING DEEPER.. NOTICED RIGHT FRONT SIDE, SAGGING ALMOST 2-4 INCHES LOWER THEN LEFT FRONT... THAT'S WHEN WE NOTICED THE SUBFRAME COMPLETELY BROKEN/RUSTED OFF FROM THE BODY BUSHING (ON THE FRONT RIGHT LOWER/REAR BUSHING)
INSTRUMENT PANEL GOES CRAZY. IT WAS SITTING IN PARK WHEN IT DOES IT.
I LEARNED TODAY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SUSPENSION:REAR AXLE NON POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY IN 2010. THE FIX WAS TO PLACE REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS (RECALL # 10V385000), AND THIS WAS DONE. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VAN IN APRIL 2016 I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR TIRE 4 TIMES! I ASKED THE TIRE SHOP ATTENDANT HOW COULD THIS BE AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE POINTED OUT THERE SEEMED TO BE SOME REPAIR DONE ON THE AXLE AND IT APPEARED TO HAVE A CRACK IN IT NOW. HE SAID THE TIRE IS LEANING SLIGHTLY INWARD BECAUSE OF THIS. HE WENT ON TO SAY HE'S SEEN MANY FORD WINDSTARS WITH THIS ISSUE AND I SHOULD REACH OUT TO FORD ABOUT RECALLS. I SEARCHED ONLINE FIRST AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A SECOND RECALL ON THE AXLE ASSEMBLE (RECALL # 15V608000). THIS WAS ABOUT THE REPAIR BRACKET, THAT IT COULD BE INSTALLED IMPROPERLY. I CALLED FORD AND TO MY SURPRISE THE OPERATOR (RALPH) SAID MY VIN WAS NOT APART OF THE NEWER RECALL. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT TO BE TRUE IF IT WAS APART OF THE INITIAL RECALL AND HAD THE REINFORCEMENT BRACKET PLACED ON THE AXLE. PLEASE HELP. I WAS DRIVING WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM. I HADN'T HIT ANY MAJOR POT HOLES OR ANYTHING! NORMAL BUMPS IN THE ROAD BUT NOTHING MAJOR. I NOTICED THE ISSUE MORE WHEN I TURNED A CORNER EVENTUALLY MY TIRE BLEW OUT (MAKING A LOUD NOISE) AND I HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW. WE WERE DRIVING AND TURNED LEFT AND. OR EVEN TWO BLOCKS THE VEHICLE MADE A SNAP SOUND ALMOST LIKE A POPPED TIRE. BOTH TIRED ARE INWARD AND THE VEHICLE IAN NOW PARKED DUE TO THE SNAPPING OF THIS.

NEW FUEL PUMP AND IT'S STILL NOT RIGHT! BREAK LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AND EMERGENCY BREAK ISN'T SET NOR IS IT LOW ON FLUID! NEW BREAKS AND CALIBER AND ROTOR! THE REAR AXLE STARTED TO SNAP IN NOVEMBER 2017 WHEN I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE VAN. WE SMELLED BURNING RUBBER AND PULLED OVER. IF WE HAD DROVE ANY FURTHER THE AXLE WAS GOING TO SNAP WITH ALL OF US IN THE VEHICLE. FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER ALL THE COSTS OF THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE BRACKET/SUPPORT PUT ON. WE DID NOT PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE TILL MARCH 2017. WE WANT THE FULL COST OF THE REPAIR COVERED AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP'S STORAGE FEES ERASED. OUR BILL IS CURRENTLY $1,809.65. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND THE TIME IT HAS BEEN SITTING THERE WHILE WE FIGHT FORD TO PAY THE BILL. THIS WAS NOT AN ACT OF WEAR AND TEAR BUT AN ACT OF A RECALL ON THE MANUFACTURER.
RECALL 10S13 WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE IN 2012 FOX OF MARQUETTE, RECALL 15S27 INSPECTION WAS DONE IN JAN 2016 COPPER COUNTRY FORD. THE REAR AXLE BEAM BROKE 10/28/17. IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I STARTED TO SMELL BURNING PLASTIC OR RUBBER. I PARKED THE VAN AND THE NEXT MORNING SOMEONE LOOKED AT IT AND SAID MY WHEEL WAS TILTED INWARD. THE AXLE WAS BROKEN. I WAS GIVEN FORD'S CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER BY MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, BUT THERE ARE NO PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO HELP ME GET IT FIXED. I OWE $1000 ON THE VAN AND IT WILL COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK.

EXITING HIGHWAY FROM OFF RAMP INTO 4 LANE RED LIGHT INTERSECTION AT NORMAL SPEED. APPLIED BRAKES, NO REACTION TO SLOW DOWN. PUMPED BRAKES STILL NO SLOWING. DROVE CAR INTO SHOULDER AND FIELD AT OFF RAMP. CAR WENT THROUGH CHAIN LINK FENCE AND FINALY CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT HIT A TREE. POLICE RESPONDED. NO INJURIES OR MAJOR PROPERTY DAMAGE. CAR WAS TOWED TO GARAGE AND FINALLY FORD DEALER. THE BRAKE MODULE FAILED. MONTH OLD INPECTION, NO BRAKE PROBLEM. POLICE COMMENDED FAST THINKING TO AVOID A MAJOR ACCIDENT INVOVLING HITTING ANY OTHER VEHICHLES. I HAVE A POLICE REPORT BUT I DO NOT HAVE A SCANNER.

REAR AXLE CRACKED
ON SATURDAY MORNING JULY 15TH 2017, I WAS DRIVING AT 2:30 AM. I HAD JUST LEFT FOR MY FIRST JOB AND CROSSED A SET OF TRAIN TRACKS. WHEN I DID, THE REAR AXLE SNAPPED ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH. AFTER LOOKING FOR THE COST TO REPLACE THE AXLE, I CAME UPON A FORD RECALL. WHEN I PLACED MY VIN IN THE COMPUTER IT CAME UP THAT MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR WAS IN FACT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I TALKED TO SOMEONE AT FORD VIA LIVE CHAT ON SATURDAY AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME AND THEY STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS OUTSTANDING AND I NEEDED TO CALL THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I PAID AGAIN TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW TUESDAY MORNING JULY 18TH 2017, BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD IS SAYING THAT THEY CANT HELP ME AND I NEED TO TAKE CARE OF REPLACING THE COMPLETELY RUSTED REAR AXLE. THE RUST CAUSING THE AXLE TO SNAP WAS THE REASON FOR THE RECALL IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AND NOW AS A SINGLE MOM AM LEFT WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD AGAIN IN MY LIFE AND I WILL ALSO DISCOURAGE MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY FROM PURCHASING FORDS AS WELL.
