WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH,THE DRIVER STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD A DELAYED REACTION, WHICH RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE HITTING A WALL HEAD ON. DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK WHEN THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED, THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED BUT DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE KEPT GOING. THE VEHICLE HAD RUN INTO THE CORNER OF THE FLOWER WALL OF THE STORES SIGN. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS SIMILAR, BUT THE CONSUMER WAS IN A SCHOOL ZONE AT A STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE REVVED, THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE JUMPED BUT DID NOT STOP. PRESSURE WAS APPLIED THREE TIMES TO THE BRAKES, THEN THE VEHICLE FINALLY HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE PROBLEM WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. *SCC *JB
FORD MOTOR COMPANY MAIN TOPIC: VEHICLESERVICEISSUES YOUR INQUIRY: MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR A REPAIR. I TOOK MY FORD WINDSTAR TO BOB MACXEY DEALERSHIP ON 06/03/2011 FOR RECALL SERVICE. WHEN I TOOK MY VAN IN , IT RAN SMOOTH , I JUST HAD AN AUTO STARTER PUT ON THE VAN THIS WINTER AND YOU COULDN'T EVEN TELL WHEN THE VAN WAS ON. I WENT TO PICK THE VAN UP AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE IT OVERNIGHT TO SEAL/GLUE. I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE A LOANER SO I HAD TO PAY MY SUPERVISOR TO PICK ME AND MY KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL. WHEN I PICKED THE VAN UP IT WAS RIDING VERY ROUGH AND LOUD. THIS IS THE VAN MY WIFE AND CHILDREN USE EVERYDAY, NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE A TRUCK AND IT IS SHAKING AND VIBRATING MORE. I TOOK THE VAN BACK AND SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER WAYNE DALLWEIN. HE TOLD ME I WAS LUCK IT DIDN'T SOUND WORSE THAN THAT BECAUSE IT WAS AN OLD VAN. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THE VAN WAS NOT LIKE THAT WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. HE INSIST THERE WAS NOTHING MORE HE COULD DO. THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVERY RECIEVEDAND MY VAN IS NO A WRECK. I EVEN HAS A RUST HOLE ON THE SIDE THAT WAS NOT THERE AND SOMETHING COMING FROM THE BOTTOM ON THE DRIVER SIDE THAT WAS NOT THERE. WHILE OPENING THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR THE CONSUMER HEARD A POPPING NOISE THEN THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NLM
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS NO IMPACT OR COLLISION TO CAUSE THIS. INJURY SUSTAINED TO PASSENGER. THE VEHICLE WAS A 2002 WINDSTAR SE MANUFACTURED BY FORD MOTOR. *NLM
ON THE DATE OF THE INCIDENT, I ENGAGED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DEFROST BUTTON ON THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY STALLED, AND I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. AFTER THAT, EVERY TIME THE SAME BUTTON WAS PUSHED, THE ENGINE STALLED. THIS IS THE SECOND SUCH OCCURRENCE, THE LAST TIME WAS IN APRIL, 2002 WHEN ENGAGING THE AIR CONDITIONER CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL.*JB
IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR UNDER MY FEET AS I DRIVE, EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I HEAR A LOUD METAL NOISE AND I CAN FEEL THE VIBRATION. IT'S HARD TO EXPLAIN THE NOISE BUT IT SOUNDS MOST LIKE A LOW SOUNDING POP. IT GENERALLY HAPPENS WHEN I'M TURNING OR GOING OVER A BUMP. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE BOLTS ON THE SUB FRAME WERE LOOSE AND HAD TO BE TOURIST. THEY HAVE HAD TO DO THIS TWICE NOW AND MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT. I FIRST NOTICED THE NOISE IN JANUARY OF 2003 AND MY CAR PROBABLY HAD ABOUT 16,000 MILES ON IT THEN. *CB
THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START, THE DEALER STATED THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED. *JB
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS EXTENDED BEYOND THE VEHICLE'S WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE BLADES ARE NOT STATIONARY AND NEED TO BE TIGHTENED REGULARLY. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *NM DURING A WINTER STORM, THE WIPERS WORKED FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WIPER ARM AND BLADES STARTED MOVING TO THE LEFT OF THE WINDSHIELD COMPLETELY OFF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS DISTORTED THE CONSUMER'S WIFE'S VISION. *SC *JB
BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK ON INTERMITTENT BASIS. AT NIGHT THIS CAN BE DETECTED WHEN THE DASH LIGHT GOES OFF. IN THE DAY, YOU DON'T KNOW. OTHER ODD SYMPTEMS ARE THAT WHEN THE IGNITION IS SHUT OFF THE DOOR LOCKS THINK THE KEY IS STILL IN THE IGNITION AND WON'T LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY. THE LOCKS POP BACK OPEN. *AK
VEHICLE PULLS EXCESSIVELY TO THE RIGHT WHEN IN THE RIGHT LANE AND TO THE LEFT WHEN IN THE LEFT LANE. THIS IS AN EXTREME UNSAFE CONDITION BGOUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF TWO DEALERS AND FORD MAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT WITH NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. *AK POWER STEERING ALSO MAKE A "WHINING GRUNT" NOISE AND P/S FLUID LEAKS THROUGH THE RACK AND PINION END SEALS AS RECOGNIZED BY FORD IN THEIR TSB 01-5-6 AND 01-4-5. FORD IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS INHERENT DEFECT AND THE DEALERS RELY ON THE COMPUTER PRINT OUT OF THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT MACHINE. AFTER ONLY 20K MILE FRONT TIRE ARE TOTALLY WORN OUT (UNEVENLY) ATTESTING TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS EXCESSIVE AND UNSAFE SIDE PULL. PEPRHAPS THE THREE ISSUES ARE RELATED AS THEY HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL.

WE OWN A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR WITH ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT FOR THE BRAKE/ACCELERATOR PEDALS. UNFORTUNATELY THE ADJUSTMENT BUTTON IS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE RIGHT WHERE MY RIGHT KNEE RESTS. THE DESIGN ALLOWS FOR ADJUSTMENTS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ON TOO MANY OCCASIONS MY KNEE HAS HIT THE BUTTON WHILE IN MOTION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELORATE OR DECCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY. AS OF NOW NO ACCIDENTS HAVE RESULTED, HOWEVER, ONE CAN EASILY SEE THE SAFETY CONCERN. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY REFUSE TO DISABLE THE FEATURE BECAUSE THAT WAS THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH IN MY MIND IT WAS A FAULTY DESIGN TO HAVE THE PEDALS ADJUST WHILE IN MOTION.*AK
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THE 2002 FORD WINDSTAR IS DEFECTIVE. I'VE HAD IT INTO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY SAY THEY FIX IT BUT NOTHING EVER CHANGES. IT SOMETIMES TAKES TWO OR THREE PULLS ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO ENGAGE IT- IRRITATING IF YOU'RE PARKING ON A HILL AND UNSAFE IN A REAL EMERGENCY SITUATION. *NM
THIS MORNING ON MY WAY TO DROP OFF MY SON AT SCHOOL MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR MOVED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. I HAD THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AND THE VAN SUDDENLY STARTING MOVING FORWARD. BY THE TIME I PRESSED AS HARD AS I COULD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VAN STOPPED ABOUT 10 FEET INTO THE ONCOMING LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE DASH BRAKE LIGHT CAME. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE FINE. I NEARLY WAS HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HAD 3 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VAN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT INDICATED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD UPPER AND LOWER GASKETS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PARTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED 13000 MILES LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO ALSO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST IN WHICH THE FAILURE CODES WERE 171 AND 174 . THE MECHANIC CHANGED 4 02 SENSORS, AND DID A TUNE UP. ALSO, MECHANIC A CONTACTED DEALERSHIP ON THIS ISSUE, WHO SENT THEM A FAX STATING IF THESE CODES APPEARED IT WAS A MALFUNCTION OF THE MIL LAMP, AND DIDN'T CHANGE THE O2 SENSORS BECAUSE THIS WASN'T WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD GO TO THE VACUUM LIGHT ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND IF THE FUEL PRESSURE ON THE MANIFOLD WAS LOSE DUE TO OIL CONTAMINATION THEN THE VACUUM LINE SHOULD BE REPLACED, AND A NEW DESIGNED LH SERVICE COVER SHOULD BE INSTALLED OR THERE COULD BE A LEAK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AGAIN, IN WHICH THE FAILURE CODE INDICATED A LEAK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. *AK
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE IT JERKED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. *AK THE CONSUMER ALMOST INJURED HER SON. *SC *JB
2002 FORD WINDSTAR STRUCK BROADSIDE BY A OLD CIERA ON RIGHT SIDE. RIGHT SIDE OF CAR WAS LIFTED UP, THEN CAR CAME BACK DOWN. EITHER COLLISION OR NEAR-OVERTURNING POPPED THE LEFT CENTER SEAT (CAPTAIN STYLE SEAT) LOOSE FROM FLOOR. INJURIES IN CRASH WERE NOT RELATED TO SEAT FAILURE. SEAT WAS NOT OCCUPIED.
CONSUMER STATES THAT ON THE MIDDLE ROW OF THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO PUT A PIECE BACK ONTO THE SEAT AND NEEDED TO FOLD DOWN THE BUCKET SEAT AND IN DOING SO THE SEAT FOLDED DOWN AT A FORCE THAT IT CUT THE CONSUMERS FINGER DEEP. THE CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO PUT THE COVER BACK ONTO THE MECHANISUM THAT FOLDS THE SEAT DOWN. CONTACTED DEALER. NLMJLG
ANTI LOCK BRAKE SHIFTER IS INOPERATIVE,THIS DEVICE IS TO PREVENT LEVER FROM SHIFTING WITHOUT BRAKE DEPRESSION.ALSO, CHILD WAS ABLE TO SHIFT LEVER INTO DRIVE GEAR WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.*AK
FOR THE PAST YEAR THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO THEY CAME ON AND HAVE REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHEN I START MY VAN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS QUOTED $700.00 TO FIX THE ABS SENSOR MODULE, BUT WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE REP THAT I'D STILL HAVE NORMAL (NOT ABS) BRAKE FUNCTION WITHOUT THE MODULE REPAIR. HERE ARE THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES: C1185, C1194, C1198, C1210, C1214, C1242, C1246, C1250 AND C1254. IT WAS ALSO NOTED THAT THE VAN'S BRAKE FLUID IS LOW AND A WHEEL CYLINDER MAY BE LEAKING. I ALSO NOTE A VERY DISCERNIBLE SQUEAKING SOUND WHEN BRAKING---THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR QUITE A WHILE. *TR
SLIDING DOOR SENSOR DOESN'T RESPOND QUICKLY ENOUGH WHEN OBJECTS ARE IN THE WAY TO AVOID CLOSING. CONSUMER'S ARM WAS BRUISED DUE TO GETTING CAUGHT AS DOOR WAS CLOSING. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AKCONSUMER IS CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF HER GRANDCHILDREN. THE DEALER DID NOT SEEMED INTERESTED IN THE PROBLEM CONSUMER PRESENTED TO HIM, STATING THAT IS THE WAY THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. *JG
WITH THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY FORD WINDSTAR TOTALLY DESTROYED, IT IS AMAZING TO ME, AN ALL WHO HAVE SEEN THE VEHICLE, THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WHAT IS EVEN MORE AMAZING TO ME IS THE LACK OF CONCERN AND COMPLETE INDIFFERENCE FORD HAS DISPLAYED WITH THIS INCIDENT. MY HUSBAND HAS CONTACTED FORD CUSTERMOR RELATIONS AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND INITIALLY TOLD THAT IT WAS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE AIRBAG SENSORS TESTED FOR FAILURE, BUT, SUBSEQUENTLY, THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE SOMEONE COME TO THE BODY SHOP AND INVESTIGATE. NO ONE FROM FORD EVER SHOWED UP AND THE BODY SHOP HAS BEGUN REPAIRS. ALSO, THE BODY SHOP WAS TOLD BY PREMIER FORD (DEALER IN FLINT, MI), THAT FORD WOULD NOT COME OUT AND INVESTIGATE. THAT FACT THAT FORD FEELS NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DETERMINING WHY THIS FAILURE ACCURED IS BESIDE ME. I NOW SUFFER FROM EXTREME ANXIETY OVER OPERATING ANY VEHICLE AND HAVE GRAVE CONCERN OVER THE INTEGRITY OF AIRBAGS AS A SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM. ALL OF THIS AT NO FOULT OF MY OWN, HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND.*AK
BROKEN REAR AXLE, 2002 WINDSTAR. I HEARD A METAL TO METAL NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS WORSE WHILE TURNING, OR OVER A BUMPY SURFACE. AFTER INSPECTING THE CAR I NOTICE THAT THE REAR AXLE WAS CRACKED AND JUST ABOUT TO BREAK. I HAD THE PROBLEM REPAIRED. (PHOTOS AVAILABLE OF CRACKED AXLE). *TR
BOTH POWER SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT RETRACT WHILE BEING CLOSED IF AN OBJECT IS IN THE DOORWAY. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED YOUNG CHILD MIGHT GET CAUGHT IN THE DOOR.*AKCONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER FELT THAT THERE WAS NOT A WAY TO ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY OF THE DOORS. CONSUMER SAID THAT HE PHYSICALLY HAD A CHANCE TO TEST A CHRYSLER MINI VANS SLIDE DOOR SENSITIVITY AND IT RETRACTED MUCH EASIER. *SCC
ENGINE ACCELERATES/RACES WHILE BACKING UP AND GOING FORWARD AT VERY LOW SPEED LIKE GOING INTO A PARKING SLOT. SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN BRAKE IS USED TO KEEP SPEED LOW.*AK
THE REAR AXLE TUBE ON MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR CRACKED YESTERDAY AND COST ME ALMOST $400 TO REPAIR. I AM A FORD CERTIFIED REPAIR TECHNICIAN AND I HAVE SEEN THIS SAME CONCERN ON SO MANY WINDSTARS THAT I FEEL THAT IT WARRANTS INVESTIGATION FOR A POSSIBLE SAFETY RECALL. THE AXLE TUBES ALWAYS SPLIT CLOSE TO THE LEFT SIDE AND NOT ALONG ANY SEAMS OR WELDS. THIS IS A STRUCTURAL DEFECT AND A SAFETY HAZARD. IF THE AXLE BREAKS COMPLETELY IT WILL CAUSE COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. PLEASE CONSIDER INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD-ON, AND NONE OF FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
LOCKS ON ALL FOUR PINCH AND IT HURTS. AFTER THE FIRST TIME YOU CAN DEAL WITH IT. AFTER THE FIFTH AND SIXTH TIME IT HURTS. ALSO OTHER PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN IN THE VEHICLE AND HAVE BEEN PITCHED. OTHER FORD DRIVERS SAY THAT THEY ALSO HAVE GOTTEN PINCHED. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT COFFEE IS HOT. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT A HAND IN A DOOR WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSING WILL HURT. IT IS NOT A KNOWN FACT THAT A LOCK WILL PINCH WHEN YOU PUT YOUR ARM UP TO REST AND ACCIDENTALLY LOCK THE DOOR WITH YOUR ARM OR THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK KICKS IN. I JUST HOPE SOMEONE WILL FIX THIS. EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT. FORD DEALER PULLED COMPUTER CODE AND GOT C1185 AND NUMEROUS OTHER CODES. THE DIAGNOSES WAS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT REPLACEMENT WOULD FIX PROBLEM SO FOR THE $700.00 THEY WANTED DECIDED TO INVESTIGATE PROBLEM MYSELF. GLAD I DID . IT SEEMS AS IF THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2002 FORD WINDSTAR AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A FIRE HAZARD. I AM ACTUALLY VERY SURPRISED THAT FORD WOULD NOT ISSUE A RECALL OR AT LEAST OFFER THEIR CUSTOMERS A SUBSIDIZED PRICE TO REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE ABS MODULE ($700.00 SEEMS VERY HIGH FOR A SMALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENT) NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE FIRE HAZARD ISSUE BUT BECAUSE THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER AND WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER WERE TURNED ON THE ENGINE SEIZED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE AIR CONDITION COMPRESSOR TWICE. PH *JB

POWER SLIDING DOORS HAVE SENSORS TO RETRACT UPON SENSIING OBJECT, DOORS DUE NOT RETRACT TIMELY, PRESSURE IS FELT ON A ADULT ARM,WRIST, CHILD, INFANT COULD BE CRUSHED. TESTED VARIOUS OTHER FORD WINDSTARS AND ALL SLIDING DOORS HAD DIFFERENT SENSING, SOME WERE WEAK AND SOME WERE TIGHT, NOT TWO THE SAME. IF A ADULT CANNOT PUSH THE DOOR OR STOP THE FORWARD MOTION, THEN A CHILD WOULD NOT STAND A CHANCE.*AK
ABS LIGHT COMES ON IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL THIS DISABLED ODOMETER READING, SPEEDOMETER , OD(OVER DRIVE) BEGINS TO FLASH AND HEATER AND AIR CONDITION STOPS WORKING , IN THE CJB (CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX) 15AMP FUSE KEEPS BLOWING OUT.EACH TIME I REPLACE IT. NOTE: WHEN I REPLACE THE 15AMP FUSE EVERY COMPONENT WILL BE OPERABLE FOR ONLY 10 TO 30MIN DRIVING THEN THE ABS LIGHTS COMES BACK ON AND EVERY COMPONENT MENTIONED WILL BE DISABLE . *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, INTERMITTENTLY THE BACK RIGHT SLIDING DOOR COMES AJAR. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. CURRENTLY, THE CONSUMER HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BACK/LEFT SIDE DOOR CLOSING SECURELY. *AK THE DOOR HAD BEEN LEAKING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE DOOR HAD A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN SPACE BETWEEN THE FRONT DOOR IN COMPARISON TO THE DRIVER DOOR. ALSO THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS INOPERATIVE. *SC *JB
THE POWER SLIDING DOORS DO NOT REVERSE DIRECTION WHEN THEY ENCOUNTER RESISTANCE. MY 2 YEAR OLD SON PLACED HIS HAND IN THE OPENING AND IT WAS ALMOST CRUSHED. IF I HADN'T BEEN STANDING DIRECTLY BEHIND HIM AND COULD PULL EXTREMELY HARD TO GET THE DOOR TO REVERSE DIRECTIONS I FEEL HE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE SUFFERED SEVERE INJURY TO HIS HAND. DT

CONSUMER STATED FOR THE 4TH TIME IN LESS THAN 5040 MILES AND WITHIN 90 DAYS OF OWNING VEHICLE, IT HAS EXPERIENCED A TEMPORARY FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION STICKS INTO LOW GEAR THEN GOES INTO A COASTING MODE AND REVVING THE ENGINE AS HIGH AS 4000 RPM OR SHIFTING BETWEEN NEUTRAL AND DRIVE HAD NO EFFECT, WHEN THE VEHICLE SPEED GOT DOWN TO LESS THAN 5 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION REENGAGED AND OPERATED NORMALLY AGAIN, THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE BUT NO FAULT CODES OR MALFUNCTION OF THE TRANSMISSION OCCURED.*JB

EMAIL CONCERNING SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE 2001-2003 FORD WINDSTAR, A LEAKY BRAKE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH WHICH CAUSES BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK DOWN WIRES AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE COMPUTER FAILS DURING HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE ISSUE IS A LARGE ALUMINUM PLATE ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE ANTI-LOCK COMPUTER CIRCUIT BOARD. WHEN THE PLATE GETS HOT, THE ALUMINUM EXPANDS WHEREBY STRETCHING THE COMPUTER BOARD AND CAUSING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD A FIRE IN HIS VEHICLE, AS A RESULT OF A LEAKY BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH.
