AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE SHORT TIME THE WARNING LIGHT FOR ABS MALFUNCTION LIGHTS ALONG W/ BRAKE WARNING LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTANTLY. LIKELY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT PROBLEM IS LOW FLUID IN MASTERCYLINDER YET FLUID LEVEL IN EVERY CASE WAS OK. THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING. SCAN CODE WAS C1185. *TR
CAR STOPPED RUNNING,AFTER STOPPING WOULD NOT RESTART WITH SWITCH ON,TURNED OFF IGN SWITCH AND TURNED BACK ON AND IT RESTARTED. I INQUIRED AT THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. SINCE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED 100'S OF TIMES INCLUDING A NUMBER OF TIMES ON A ROUNDABOUT WHERE THE LOSS OF PWER STEERING IS ESPECIALLY SCARING. I HAVE ADJUSTED TO THIS PROBLEM BY PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL,TURNING OFF THE IGNITION AND THEN ON AND STARTING THE ENGINE AGAIN, NORMALLY THIS IS AN INCONVENIENCE BUT ON A 2 LANE ROUNDABOUT IT IS A DANGER. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS WERE SHUTTING ON AND OFF ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BRAKES BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE FAILURE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INNER CONTROL ARM ON THE STEERING WHEEL FELL APART. THE VEHICLE WAS UNCONTROLLABLE AND THE LEFT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE TURNED OUTWARD BUT THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WILL INSPECT IT AND REPLACE THE INNER CONTROL ARM. THERE WAS NO WARRANTY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED THERE WAS NO POWER RESPONSE. ALSO, A RAPID INCREASE IN THE RPMS OCCURRED. THE GEAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT SUSPECTED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION BUT THE MECHANIC HAD NOT YET CONFIRMED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. UPDATED 05/04/11 *BF UPDATED 05/09/11
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED, A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AND ALL STEERING CONTROL WAS LOST. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 WINDSTAR AT 40 MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY DURING THE MORNING RUSH HOUR IT LOST POWER. THE VAN HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VAN WOULD START BUT IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE. THERE WAS NO WARNING TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. AAA TOWED THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC HAS TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER. FIVE DAYS PRIOR THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED FROM THE FORD DEALER WITH A NEW REAR AXLE (RECALL, 10 WEEKS AT THE DEALER). AT THE TIME OF FAILURE THE VAN HAD APPROXIMATELY 116000 MILES. THE WINDSTAR WILL BE REPAIRED AT A COST OF $1849.11. I CAN NOT REPLACE THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME (I WOULD LIKE TO!). BROUGHT MY 2003 FORD WINDSTAR SEL (WITH 78,397 MILES ON IT) IN TO DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED FOR SUBFRAME RECALL, THE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING, AND THE ABS, BRAKE LIGHT, AND TRAC OFF LIGHTS HAD ALL GONE ON. DURING THE DIAGNOSIS, THEY FOUND THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS FINE, THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE IGNITION COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACE (CAUSING CYLINDER 3 TO MISFIRE), AND THE PCM NEEDED TO BE RESEALED FOR MOISTURE. (MARCH 3RD, 2011) THEY FOUND NO HARD CODE FOR THE BRAKES. WE GET THE NECESSARY WORK DONE, DRIVE THE VAN HOME, AND WITHIN A DAY THE ABS LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, AND TRAC OFF LIGHT COME BACK ON. CALL AND HAVE THE DEALER LOOK AT VAN AGAIN, THEY NOW FIND CODE 1185 (PIN POINT TEST FOUND ABS MODULE NOT RESPONDING). THE DEALER REPLACED THE ABS MODULE AND RESCANNED WITH NO CODES AND WAS ROAD TESTED. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE (MARCH 7TH, 2011), I PICK UP VAN, WITHIN 4 HOURS, THE ABS LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, AND TRAC OFF LIGHT ARE BACK ON. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE VAN IS BACK AT THE DEALERS BEING CHECKED AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. IN THE LAST WEEK, I HAVE HAD TO BRING THIS PARTICULAR VAN IN 4 TIMES DUE TO PROBLEMS. THIS ALL COMES AFTER HAVING WORK DONE ON THIS VAN IN DECEMBER. IN DECEMBER 2010, THEY PERFORMED SYSTEM DIAG,, DTCS, PO174, PO174, LEAN ON BOTH BANKS, INSPECT FOR VACUUM LEAKS, FOUND LEAKS AT INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL SHAFTS, REQUIRED INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT TO CORRECT, REPLACED INTAKE MANIFOLD AND REQUIRED PARTS, INCLUDING CLEANED FUEL INJECTOR, CHANGED OIL AND FILTER CLEARED DTCS, RETESTED VERIFIED PROPER OPERATION. MANIFOLD, 2 SEALS, 5 GASKETS, ISOLATOR, THERMOSTAT, ANTI-FREEZE, COUPLING, FUEL SYSTEM, FILTER, ENGINE OIL). THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE WITH A VAN THAT HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
FORD WINDSTAR THAT HAS HAD 2 RECALLS FOR FRONT AND REAR AXLES. INTERIOR LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. VERY DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS! *TR
FORD WINDSTAR WAS RECALLED FOR REAR AXLES. I HAD THAT REPAIRED. I GOT ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE FRONT AXLES. DEALER SAYS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE AND VAN "SHOULD BE OKAY" UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. "SHOULD BE OKAY" IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!! IF THERE IS A RECALL, THE PART SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL, NOT WEEKS OR MONTHS LATER. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR SE MODEL THAT HAS COST WELL OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS IN REPAIR. I HAVE REPLACED 2 BATTERIES AND TWO ALTERNATORS, AND THE PROBLEMS STILL HAVE NOT BEEN FIXED. I NOW HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW FAST I AM GOING OR HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY TANK. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS NEED TO BE RECALLED ON THESE VANS. PEOPLE ON LINE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS AND THEIR VANS FAILING BECAUSE OF FAULTY ELECTRICAL. I USE MY VAN TO TRANSPORT MY FAMILY AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE ON THIS VAN. I HAVE HAD ALL THE NECESSARY RECALLS TAKEN CARE ON IT. WHEN I DRIVE THIS VAN THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT CORRECT, I THINK I AM DOING A CERTAIN SPEED BUT WHEN COMPARED TO OTHER VEHICLES IT IS CLEARLY NOT THE SPEED INTENDED. MY GAS GAUGE IS ALWAYS WRONG I FILL UP ON GAS AND IT STAYS FULL ONE DAY AND THE NEXT IT'S ALMOST EMPTY. I NOW HAVE TO KEEP AND EYE ON MY MILEAGE TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE. THE DOORS NEVER CLOSE PROPERLY AND MY LIFTGATE AJAR SIGNALS ALWAYS ON. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN I NEED THEM TOO, WHICH HAS BECOME A HAZARD, BECAUSE I CAN'T LEAVE ANYTHING IN MY VAN FOR FEAR OF IT BEING STOLEN. THIS VAN HAS HAD BEEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND COST ME WELL OVER 400 DOLLARS TO REPLACE AN ALREADY BRAND NEW ALTERNATOR AND NEW BATTERY WHICH COST OVER 80 BUCKS, PLUS THE TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THE FIRST ALTERNATOR AND ANOTHER 100 FOR THE FIRST BATTERY. THE HEAT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY EITHER. THIS VAN IS A NIGHTMARE OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD ASAP. THIS VAN HAS LEFT ME AND MY CHILDREN STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN THE COUNTRY AND I WILL NOT PUT UP WITH IT ANY MORE!!!!!!! *TR
2003 FORD WINDSTAR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE PERFORMANCE OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND TWO SAFETY RECALLS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE INSPECTIONS AND REPAIRS WERE NOT CONDUCTED IN A TIMELY, EFFICIENT, AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE FINALLY RECEIVED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE AXLE INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THE AXLE WAS CRACKED IN THREE PLACES. THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AND THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE, AND THEREFORE, IT WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER FOR OVER A MONTH. THE CONSUMER STATED HE THEN RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL RELATING TO THE SUBFRAME. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER REGARDING THE SECOND RECALL AND WAS INFORMED THEY WERE AWARE OF IT AND HE WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN THE REPAIRS FOR THE SECOND RECALL HAD BEEN COMPLETED. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A VOICE MAIL FROM THE DEALER STATING THE PARTS FOR THE AXLE HAD ARRIVED. HOWEVER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ENGINE HAD AN OIL LEAK, THE SWAY BAR LINK WAS BROKEN IN THE FRONT, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS BADLY WORN ON THE INSIDE AND THE LEFT REAR SHOCK WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN OUT. *JB
DEALER PERFORMED REAR AXLE SAFETY RECALL. "VEHICLE PASSED SUB FRAME INSPECTION". THE VEHICLE'S FRONT SUB FRAME WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE CHASSIS ON THE LEFT SIDE IS RUSTED THROUGH. I HAVE PICTURES.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IN A RECALL. *TR
BOTH ABS BRAKE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WHEN THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE AROUND 60 DEGREES OR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FOR MORE THAT 30 MINUTES. AFTER THE LIGHTS COME ON THE ABS BRAKES NO LONGER WORK. *TR
ABS AND BRAKE LAMPS INTERMITTENTLY COME ON. ABS IS DISABLED WHEN THE LAMPS ARE ON. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS FREQUENTLY. THE LAMPS COME ON WHEN YOU START THE VAN AND STAY LIT, BUT SOMETIMES FOR WEEKS THE LAMPS DO NOT COME ON AT ALL AND THE ABS WORKS. I WOULD ESTIMATE THE LAMPS ARE ON 60-70% OF THE TIME. *TR
LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. MINE CONSTANTLY COME ON ALL THE TIME. EVEN WHEN I HAD MY BRAKES DONE, THEY STILL CAME ON. ALSO MY CAR LIKE TO IDLE HIGH AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOREVER. IT NEVER GOES OFF, AND I HAVE HAD WORK DONE SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR IT TO BE ON. NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY OD LIGHT BLINKING. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, AND THE LIGHT STARTING BLINKING. ALL THE SUDDEN MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON TO MAKE IT HOME. IT WAS PRETTY SCARY AND I HAVE READ MY COMPLAINTS AND KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FORD SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES. I JUST HAD MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT LAST YEAR. RIGHT NOW, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A FORD TO ANYONE. I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS AND HAVE SEEN SOME PEOPLE HAD SOME PRETTY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THESE PROBLEMS. WHEN DO YOU RECALL SOMETHING?? AFTER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HURT. CRAZY!! *TR
I WENT TO THE SERVICE STATION FOR RECALL THEY FIRST TOLD ME MY CAR WASN'T ABLE TO BE FIXED THEN THEY TELL ME IT IS ABLE TO BE FIX I HAVE TO BE I LITTLE SKEPTICAL WHEN THERE FLIP FLOP LIKE ESPECIALLY WHEN MY FAMILY LIFE AT STAKE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 50-55 MPH, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED BUT THEY DID NOT RESPOND AS QUICKLY AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED ONCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE HAD FOUR RECALLS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED; THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. THE CONTACT NEVER EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE ABS LIGHT UNTIL THE REPAIRS FOR THE RECALLS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 136,426.
COMPLETE FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION WITH NO VISIBLE OR AUDIBLE WARNING. TRANSMISSION CHANGED PER FORD SPEC AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE FLUIDS. THERE IS A HIGH RATE OF FAILURE OF THIS COMPONENT ACCORDING TO A NUMBER OF INDEPENDENT REPORTING AGENCIES VIA THE WEB. THE TRANSMISSION IN A 2003 WINDSTAR SEEMS TO BE PARTICULARLY PRONE TO VERY EARLY AND UNACCEPTABLE FAILURE. I AM EXTREMELY THANKFUL THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AT STOP AND NOT DURING OPERATION WITH MY WIFE AND 4 KIDS IN IT. FROM OTHER REPORTS VIA INDEPENDENT REPORTING AGENCIES, WE WERE FORTUNATE.

RECEIVED MY 2003 FORD WINDSTAR WITH 70,000 MILES BACK FROM REAR AXLE RECALL. THE FRONT END SHAKES REALLY BAD AND THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE IN THE FRONT. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE CHECKED THE FRONT END ON THE NEW RECALL. THEY ALSO CLAIM THAT FORD TOLD THEM TO TAKE MY NEW 1000 CRANKING AMP BATTERY OUT AND PUT A 750 CRANKING AMP BATTERY IN IT. *TR

RECALL ON # 10V385000 WAS REPAIRED BUT STILL HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE REPAIR HAVE TAKEN BACK THREE TIMES THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING, BUT THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM IT MAKES A POPPING NOISE WHEN VEHICLE SHIFTS. RECALL ON #11V030000 WAS NOT REPAIRED, TOOK IN FOR INSPECTION TO FORD THEY SAID AS LONG AS I WAS IN ALABAMA I NOTHING TO BE CONCERN ABOUT, THE RECALL NOTICE STATED IF THE VEHICLE PASSED INSPECTION THE DEALER IS AUTHORIZED TO COMPLETE REINFORCEMENT, MY VEHICLE PASSED INSPECTION BUT NO REPAIR WAS MADE.RECALL ON 09V399000 I HAVE TALK WITH THEM SEVERAL TIMES THEY INFORMED ME THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE FOR THAT RECALL . *TR

AN SURE ENOUGH 1000S OF PEOPLE HAVE WITH THE FORD WINDSTAR. I HEARD LOTS OF BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS VAN AN NOW I SCARED TO EVEN PUT MY KIDS IN IT. I HAVE 5 KIDS AN DON'T WANNA TAKE THE CHANCE OF IT CATCHING ON FIRE ARE AXLES BRAKING OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO KNOW. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V030000 STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS: UNDERBODY SHIELDS REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FRONT SUBFRAME DEVELOPED A NEW CRACK DUE TO CORROSION, AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED WITHIN THE SUSPENSION ATTACHMENT WHICH DEVELOPED A CRACK AND A HOLE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS STATED INSPECTION AND WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,694 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,399.
RECENTLY ISSUED RECALL OF 2004 FORD CO. MINIVANS FOR INPUT SHAFT FAILURE, ALL FORD WINDSTARS INCLUDING 2003 MODELS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. FREESTAR VAN IS NOTHING BUT A NAME CHANGE FOR THE SAME POOR UNSAFE VEHICLE. ALONG WITH THE MANY SAFETY ISSUES, OWNERS SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE REPAIRS MADE ON SUBSTANDARD VEHICLE. INCLUDING THE FRAME ISSUES, BRAKES ISSUE, ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE QUALITY. *TR

I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THAT WAS FEB. 2011 I JUST HAD THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPEN AGAIN TO ME DEC. 2012- TRANSMISSION NEEDS REBUILT AGAIN! MILEAGE IS 82000 ARE YOU KIDDING! 2 TRANSMISSIONS IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS! THE TORQUE CONVERTER BOTH TIMES! *TR
FORD SAFETY RECALL 11S16 WAS TO REINFORCE OR REPLACE REAR AXLE TO ENSURE VEHICLE SAFETY. FORD INSTALLED BRACKETS THAT WERE EITHER INEFFECTIVE, IMPROPERLY INSTALLED, OR AXLE WAS ALREADY CRACKED WHEN INSTALLED. WHEN OWNER WAS INFORMED OF POSSIBLE CRACKS IN REAR AXLE APRIL 2013 FORD WAS IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED AND FORDS RESPONSE IS THAT THERE ARE NO FACTORY WARRANTIES OR PROGRAMS IN EFFECT TO ASSIST WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 110200 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN 12,000 MILES SINCE THE RECALL. AT THE TIME OF THE SAFETY RECALL 11S16 REPAIRS THE OWNER HAD REQUESTED THAT FORD REPLACE THE AXLE INSTEAD OF INSTALLING BRACKETS, AND WAS WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE ADDITIONAL REPAIR COSTS. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE THE AXLE, INSTALLING THE BRACKETS INSTEAD. SUBSEQUENTLY, FORD REPAIRS WERE INEFFECTIVE AND RESULTED IN CRACKS IN THE REAR AXLE. AS OF THIS DATE, FORD HAS TAKEN THE POSITION THAT THE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER. THE OWNER DISAGREES AND IS REQUESTING THAT FORD BE REQUIRED TO LIVE UP TO THEIR AGREEMENT UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL 11S16, TO ENSURE THAT THE REAR AXLE OF SAID VEHICLE MEETS OR EXCEEDS SAFETY REQUIREMENTS. *TR

THE UNIT WAS RUSTED AND BASED ON THE RECALLS OF THE REAR AXEL AND NOW THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS, I AM CONCERNED THIS SHOULD BE REVIEWED AS WELL. THE CONTACT REFERENCED RECALL 10V385000 (SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY) & RECALL 11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS:UNDERBODY SHIELDS) BUT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE REMEDIES AND STATED THAT THEY WERE INADEQUATE. THE CONTACT ASKED THE DEALER IF THEY COULD GUARANTEE THAT THE AXLE WOULD NOT BREAK WITH THE TWO PLATES BUT RECEIVED NO GUARANTEE. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 141,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 136,000.
I HAVE ROUGHLY A 40 MINUTE DRIVE TO WORK. IT WAS A COLD DAY AND DROVE WITH THE HEAT ON AND THE ROADS WERE FINE AFTER A SNOW THE NIGHT BEFORE, BUT THERE WAS NO SNOW LEFT ON THE VEHICLE. I CAME OUT AT THE END OF THE DAY TO FIND THE REAR WINDOW MISSING ABOUT SIX-EIGHT SQUARE INCHES AND SHARDS OF GLASS BELOW IN THE SNOW. THE GLASS APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN HIT FROM THE INSIDE, BUT I THINK IT EXPLODED FROM WITHIN (NOTHING ELSE HAD BEEN BROKEN OR MISSING FROM THE INSIDE). I'D HAD NO TROUBLE WITH THE REAR DEFOGGER OR WIPER. I FOUND OUT THAT A CO-WORKER NOTICED IT AT LUNCH, SO SOMETIME BETWEEN 8:00 AM AND 1:00 PM THIS HAPPENED. NO ONE SAW ANYTHING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,081 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
