ABS LIGHT AND RED BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD GO ON AND OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES, DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES. *TR
ABS (YELLOW) AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS (RED) TURN ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS HOT OR THE VEHICLE (2003 FORD WINDSTAR) IS HOT. I HAVE REPLACED FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND I HAVE HAD THE REAR BRAKES DONE AS WELL. HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHTS CONTINUE TO TURN ON. BASED ON INFORMATION FOUND ON THE FOLLOWING WEBPAGE (HTTP://WWW.FORDWINDSTARRECALL.INFO/), I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR LIMITED. THE CHECK ADVANCETRAC AND ABS LIGHT COME ON INTERMITTENTLY...HIRSCH FORD IN MICHIGAN CITY WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON REPAIRS AFTER SPENDING 1 1/2 HOURS DIAGNOSTIC TIME...ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP WAS ABLE TO PULL THE C1185 CODE AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHERS FROM THE ONBOARD COMPUTER BUT ONLY GAVE ME A $1400.00 REPAIR ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE. *TR
2003 WINDSTAR INTERMITTENT ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT. BOTH LIGHTS WILL TURN ON WHILE NORMAL DRIVING. MOSTLY HAPPENS DURING SUMMER MONTHS. DIFFERENT WHEEL SENSOR FAILURE CODES DISPLAYED. *TR
2003 WINDSTAR ELECTRONIC CONCERN -FUSE NO.3 TO POWER REAR VIEW MIRROR SHORTS OUT. CAN NOT KEEP A FUSE IN IT. THE LITE ON MIRROR IS GREAT IDEAL. BUT DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN THEY WANT 89.00 TO 100 CHECK TO RUN A ECTRIC CHECK TO SEE WHY? I AM STILL PAYING A BANK FEE AND THIS VAN HAS RUN ME IN DEBT TRYING TO FIX IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER COULD NOT BE MOVED INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES FOUND WITHIN THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING A TURN AT 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE TORQUE CONVERTER BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
THERE IS SOMETHING OBVIOUSLY WRONG WITH OUR FORD WINDSTAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. UPON UNLOCKING THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE, ONLY THE REAR HATCH WILL UNLOCK. ALL OF THE OTHER DOORS TRY TO UNLOCK, BUT THERE IS NOT ENOUGH POWER TO PUSH THE LOCK ALL THE WAY UP. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. THIS IS NOT ONLY A VERY OBNOXIOUS PROBLEM BECAUSE EACH OF THE DOORS MUST BE UNLOCKED BY HAND, BUT THIS COULD ALSO BE A SIGN OF OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. IN AN EMERGENCY WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR, I NEED TO BE ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. *TR
THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME AFTER DRIVING FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES. ONCE THESE LIGHTS COME ON, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROLS ARE COMPLETELY INOPERABLE, AND IN BAD WEATHER THIS COULD LEAD TO A CRASH. THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE FASTER WHEN IT IS WARMER OUTSIDE. I BELIEVE THAT AT $2800 TO REPAIR, THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD MOST CERTAINLY BE A RECALL, ESPECIALLY IN A FAMILY VEHICLE WHERE CHILDREN COULD BE IN DANGER. *TR
WITH NO WARNING, THE FRONT LEFT COIL SPRING ON MY 2003 FORD WINDSTAR SNAPPED AS WE WERE DRIVING. THE BROKEN SPRING SHOT INTO MY TIRE CAUSING A BLOWOUT AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ALMOST HITTING A GUARD RAIL AND THEN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AND STOP IT BUT WERE LUCKY THAT WE WERE ONLY GOING 35 MPH AT THE TIME. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURIES AND POSSIBLY FATALITIES. THIS CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH MYSELF, MY WIFE, AND MY FOUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE WITH WINDSTARS SINCE 1996. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. IT WAS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND WE NEEDED OUR VEHICLE AND, IN ADDITION, DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEN I TOOK IT TO BE REPAIRED. I PHONED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED AND WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR. WITH ONLY 66,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. NOW I AM WONDERING WHEN THE OTHER COIL SPRING WILL SNAP. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS VEHICLE SINCE THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I HAVE RETAINED THE BROKEN COIL SPRING. *TR
ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS STAYS ON, CRUISE CONTROL NEVER HAS WORKED, HAVE FIXED THE BRAKES AND THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. NOW I THINK THE 02 SENSOR I GUESS IT MAY BE THE OXYGEN SENSOR IS OUT ALSO I THINK IT KEEP ON BURNING UP MY ALTERNATORS, I PUT A NEW LAST YEAR AND JUST HAD TO PUT ANOTHER ONE AND I THINK IT IS ABOUT GONE ALSO. *TR
I AM ALSO HAVING AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE ABS LIGHT SHOWING ON THE DASH WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS AND RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING ERROR CODES: C1236 LR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR INPUT MISSING; C1235 RR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR INPUT MISSING; AND C1185 POWER RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FAULT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE ABS IS NOT AFFECTED AND IN FACT HAVE NOTICED THAT THE ABS DOES ENGAGE IN SNOWY/WET ROAD CONDITIONS WHILE THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON. MY MECHANIC HAS ADVISED THAT THE LAST ERROR CODE COULD BE THE GLOBAL CAUSE OF THE ERROR. I HAVE YET TO REPLACE THE SENSORS AS THE BRAKES ARE UNAFFECTED AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT FURTHER TROUBLE SHOOTING COULD BE OF SIGNIFICANT COST FOR BRAKES THAT ARE CURRENTLY FUNCTIONING NORMALLY OTHER THAN THE WARNING LIGHTS. THE LIGHTS DO SEEM TO BE MORE AFFECTED BY WET/DAMP DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR
MY ABS, EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS RANDOMLY COME ON WHILE DRIVING. THEY STAY ILLUMINATED UNTIL I TURN THE CAR OFF. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHEN THEY COME ON. THE ONE TIME I HAD IT LOOKED AT, THEY COULD FIND NO ERROR AND I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO BRING IT IN WHILE THE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. MY CONCERN IS THAT WHILE THE LIGHTS ARE ON, THAT THE ABS SYSTEM IS NOT ACTIVATED. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR THAT THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT HAVE BEEN COMING ON FOR YEARS. I HAD TO THE FORD GARAGE WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE LIGHTS DIDN'T COME ON. I HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED A MONTH AGO AND THE LIGHTS STILL COME ON. I'M NOW ADVISED THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE (UPWARDS OR $700 DOLLARS AS IT HAS TO BE DONE BY A FORD GARAGE. I'M FURIOUS. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
DRIVING SOUTHBOUND ON I65 IN LEBABNON, IN ON WAY TO WORK AT ABOUT 65-70 MPH. SUDDENLY THE VANS TARTED TO SLOW EVEN THOUGH I WAS MAINTAIING PRESSURE ON GAS PEDAL. VAN CONTINUED TO SLOW WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS RACING UP BEHIND ME, SWERVING SORUND ME AND HRONS BLARING. I WAS BALE TO GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AN MADE IT TO THE END OF THE RAMP WHERE THE VHEICLE JUST STOPPED MOVING.
I OWN A FORD WINDSTAR '03. STARTING IN MAY 2007, AT ABOUT 45,600 MILES, MY BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ARE ILLUMINATED. THE CODE READ BY THE MECHANIC FROM THE COMPUTER IS C1185. NEARLY EVERY TIME I USE THE CAR SINCE, THE LIGHTS COME ON WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF TURNING ON THE IGNITION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE ABS LIGHT CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. HE HAS SPENT OVER $2,000 IN REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. MY AUTOMOBILE KEEPS GETTING MULTIPLE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND ABS ERRORS. THE LIGHTS COME ON AND REMAINS ON UNTIL TURNED OFF. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS TO BE A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE WITH FORD WINDSTARS. I'VE ALSO READ THAT ONE PERSON HAD A FIRE COME FROM THIS ISSUE. IS THERE ANY MOTION FOR A RECALL. *TR
FIRST AND ONLY OWNER OF 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE RED BRAKE LIGHT AND THE YELLOW ABS LIGHT KEEP COMING ON ON THE DASHBOARD DURING WARM WEATHER. NO LIGHTS ARE LIT DURING THE COLDER MONTHS. I HAVE READ THAT THIS CAN LEAD TO FIRE. *TR

SEVERE BRAKING DISTANCE INCREASE BECAUSE OF LOSS OF ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
EXTERIOR BRAKES LIGHTS STAY ON AS THOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, AND EVEN COME ON BY THEMSELVES WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE CAR. WHEN YOU GET IN THE CAR, THERE IS A HOT, OVERHEATED SMELL IN THE CAR. SEVERAL MORNINGS I HAVE GOTTEN IN THE CAR TO FIND THAT THE BATTERY IS DEAD, AND I HAVE TO JUMP THE CAR TO START. *TR
BOTH THE ABS LIGHT AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT COME ON IN MY 2003 FORD WINDSTAR ONCE THE VEHICLE GETS WARMED UP. I HAVE CONDUCTED EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AFTER HAVING A MECHANIC GIVE ME THE CODE THAT THE VAN IS THROWING (C1185) AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING: THE BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH (2B264) LOCATED UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER (BEHIND THE AIR FILTER) OVER TIME DEVELOPS A LEAK. THIS CAUSES A SHORT AND A FUSE TRIP, FUSE #10. THIS LEAK CAUSES BRAKE FLUID TO WICK DOWN TWO WIRES TO THE ABS BRAKE MODULE (2C219). THE FLUID ACCUMULATES ON THE POWER CONNECTORS FOR THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH ARE POWERED BY FUSES 101 AND 102 AND ARE BOTH 40 AMP. THE FLUID ATTRACTS MOISTURE, ROAD SALT AND LEADS TO A FIRE WHEN THE FLUID AND MOISTURE ACT AS CONDUCTOR BETWEEN THE HOT LEADS AND GROUND. THIS SWITCH HAS BEEN THE SUBJECT OF OTHER FORD RECALLS, JUST NOT THE WINDSTAR VAN YET. BELOW IS A PICTURE OF THE SWITCH IN QUESTION. NOTICE THE FLUID THAT LEAKED ON THE PART BELOW IT. THIS SWITCH WILL CAUSE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEMS, SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER AND ABS BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEMS. THE ISSUE OF THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT IS CRITICAL IN THAT THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION AS DESIGNED BY FORD. THE ISSUE IS CAUSED BY HEAT IN THE ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM) ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE) (2C219) MODULE CAUSING EXPANSION OF A LARGE ALUMINUM PLATE (HEAT SINK) IN THE ECM WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE ECM MAIN CIRCUIT BOARD AT ALL POINTS. THE EXPANSION OCCURS WHEN THE UNIT GETS WARM ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER MONTHS AND CAUSES INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL CONNECTION IN THE UNIT BECAUSE THE FRAGILE BOARD IS BEING STRETCHED AND MALFORMED. THE CODE MOST COMMONLY SCANNED BY PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS IS CODE C1185. SEEN BY US OWNERS AS A YELLOW ABS BRAKE LIGHT. *TR

ELECTRICAL PROBLEM DOORS LOCK SOMETIMES, NEXT TIME NO LOCK, ABS LITE WILL NOT GO OFF REPLACE FUSE, DRIVE 5 MILES, ABS LITE COMES BACK ON, HAS FOR 2 YEARS,WASTED MONEY AND TIME ON TRYING TO FIND SOLUTION. FUSES BLOW OUT FASTER THEN I CAN REPLACE THEM. *TR
INTERMITTENT ABS & BRAKE LIGHT HAVE APPEARED A FEW MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT THE VAN BUT FAR ENOUGH AFTER OUR "USED CAR WARRANTY PERIOD". I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY 1/10/11 THAT IT NEEDS THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT REPLACED WHICH EFFECTS THE ABS SYSTEM. ESTIMATED REPAIR/REPLACEMENT COST IS ABOUT $850 DUE TO THE SPECIFIC SENSING TO THE VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE DURING AND AFTER AS WELL AS LABOR GETTING TO IT AND INSTALLING IT... THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS WEAR AND TEAR. I'VE ONLY HAD MY VAN FOR 3 YEARS. APPARENTLY THE HEAT MAKES IT EXPAND AND CONTRACT PLACING STRESS ON THE SOLDER JOINTS CRACKING THE SOLDER JOINTS. WE SHOULD RECONSIDER THE PLACEMENT OF THIS CONTROL MODULE ON THE VEHICLE AND/OR THE MATERIALS THAT ENCASE IT. NOT SURE IF ANY CONNECTION TO THE WIRING HARNESS OR NOT. I'M THOROUGHLY FRUSTRATED. IT'S CURRENTLY IN FOR THE REAR AXLE INSPECTION REPAIR/REPLACEMENT WARRANTY ONLY REASON I FOUND OUT. *TR
ABS LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENT. BEING STATION IN EUROPE, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HAVE MY AUTOMOBILE 100% WITH THE AUTOBAHNS. MY WINDSTAR IS A 2003 WITH ONLY 60,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT. WHILE DRIVING IT LOST ALL FORWARD GEARS AND REVERSE. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. THIS HAPPEN FEB 2009. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND A NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND THEY REPAIRED THE POWER STEERING. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,780 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000. THE CONSUMER STATED WANTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR REPAIRS, HOWEVER FORD STATED WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE CONSUMER DUE TO THE FACT THE REPAIRS WERE NOT MADE BY A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. UPDATED 09/18/07 *TR
A VEHICLE TURNED LEFT INFRONT OF ME. HAVING NO TIME TO APPLY MY BRAKES, MY VEHICLE FRONT END STRUCK THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 45-50MPH. IT WAS A DIRECT FRONTAL IMPACT TO MY VEHICLE OF SUCH FORCE IT KILLED THE OTHER DRIVER. NEITHER OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

I OWN A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR LX FOR ABOUT THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF THE ABS (ORANGE) LIGHT AND THE BRAKE (RED) LIGHT COME ON WHENEVER I DRIVER MORE THAN ABOUT A MILE IN THE SUMMER TIME IT IS ALMOST ALWAYS ON I KNOW THAT THIS SEAMS TO BE A PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE IS A WEB SITE DEDICATED TO THIS. I REALLY BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS I HAVE TAKEN MY VAN TO THE FORD HOUSE AND THEY SAY THEY CAN DO NOTHING. *TR
CHECK EMISSIONS LIGHT CAME ON. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDS REPLACEMENT. SERVICE REP SAID THAT THIS MODEL YEAR HAS EXPERIENCED FREQUENT FAILURE WITH THIS PART. *NM
I STARTED THE VAN AND LEFT THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN TO RUN INSIDE THE HOUSE TO GET SOMETHING. WHEN I CAME BACK THE VAN WAS ROLLING BACKWARD ACROSS THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD. BECAUSE THE DOOR WAS OPEN IT WAS RIPPED BACKWARD AS IT LEFT THE GARAGE AND HIT THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR. IT HAD ROLLED OFF A RETAINING WALL WHICH PULLED THE FRONT BUMPER OFF. IT WAS STILL ROLLING ACROSS THE NEIGHBOR'S YARD WHEN WE FINALLY CAUGHT IT. WHEN I GOT IN THE VAN IT WAS STILL IN PARK. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS HURT. *JB

OUR 2003 FORD WINDSTAR HAS HAD MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND NOW A POSSIBLE BAD INTAKE GASKET CAUSING A ROUGH IDLE/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/LEAN RUNNING CODE. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER AS THEY COULDN'T REPAIR EITHER THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON WHILE DRIVING OR INTERMITTENT OPERATION OF THE REAR PASSENGER VENT WINDOW. THEIR ANSWERS ARE ALWAYS WELL IF IT'S NOT ACTING UP WHEN WE TEST IT THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WE CAN DO. BUT I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE OTHER VEHICLES IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS SO THEY DO KNOW. WE HAVE REPLACED 2 TAILLIGHT BULBS AND 1 HEADLIGHT BULB IN A VEHICLE 3 1/2 YEARS OLD WITH 34,000 MILES. I WON'T TAKE THE ROUGH IDLE PROBLEM IN TILL IT'S DOING IT 100% OF THE TIME SO THEY CAN'T SQUIRM OUT OF IT. THEY SAY SINCE WE HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IT WOULD BE COVERED IF IT'S THE INTAKE GASKETS BUT I DON'T TRUST THEM. THIS IS OUR 3RD AND LAST NEW FORD VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE ALL HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND INTAKE/HEAD GASKET ISSUES. FORD=POOR QUALITY AND SERVICE.*JB
TL* - ON JANUARY 17, 2007 THE CONTACT'S 2003 FORD WINDSTAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS WHEN SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE EARLIER IN THAT DAY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE , AND THAT SPARKS WERE SEEN UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS NOT DETERMINED THE CAUSE OR LOCATION OF THE FIRE. THE FIRE ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO TWO OTHER VEHICLES. THE CONTACT HAS PICTURES AND A VIDEOTAPE. *AK

TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT BELTS WOULD NOT RETRACT. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO TOLD HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE TO A FORD DEALER TO BE SERVICED. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A FAULTY HEAD GASKET. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THIS FAULT IS DUE TO A FAULTY CRANCASE ( PVC) VALVE. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER MECHANIC HE FOUND THAT THE PVC VALVE WAS FAULTY AS WELL. *AK

THE ABS LIGHT HAS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY AND THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, IT TAKES ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND THEN THE LIGHTS COME ON. HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 YEARS BUT FORD HAS REFUSED TO COVER SINCE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR

POT HOLE WAS HIT AND CONSEQUENTLY, THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. DAMAGED THE ENGINE. *TR
I HAVE A HORRIBLE WHINING NOISE WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL, I HEARD ITS PROBABLY THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE IT. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE ENGINE FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. ITEM # 1 ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE SLUGGISHLY WHEN COLD. REPAIR SHOP INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THE LOWER ENGINE MANIFOLD GASKET HAD FAILED. REPLACED LOWER MANIFOLD AND GASKET AND PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. ITEM # 2 BATTERY LIGHT FLICKERING. GROUNDING STRAP BETWEEN ALTERNATOR AND BODY FRAME FAILED. READS OPEN WITH MULTIMETER. CREATED BY OWN GROUNDING STRAP USING 10 GA. WIRE AND WEATHER RESISTANT RING-TYPE CONNECTORS. NO MORE BATTERY LIGHT. ITEM # 3 INTERNAL LIGHTS FLICKER RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY. SLAMMING ALL DOORS DOES NOT SEEM TO AFFECT THE CONDITION. PROBLEM STILL REMAINS. I TURNED OF THE DOME LIGHT SWITCH TO KEEP FROM RUNNING DOWN MY BATTERY AND ELIMINATE THE MOBILE "DISCO" EFFECT. *TR
2003 FORD WINDSTAR - PROBLEM BEGAN IN OCTOBER, 2006. VEHICLE WOULDN'T START; THEREFORE, WE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED - WOULDN'T START ON IT'S OWN, HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED EACH TIME TO DRIVE. HAS HAD THREE SEPARATE REPAIR APPOINTMENTS TO WHICH THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS THE SAME TO THEM - HAD TO JUMP START. HAVE HAD ALL DIAGNOSTICS, ETC. COMPLETED WITH NO RESULTS. HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CONSUMER AFFAIRS ALSO. FILED COMPLAINT WITH FORD MANUFACTURER, DEARBORN, MI, AS OF TODAY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT INCIDENT. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND RESET THE CODES. THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ABS MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED, BUT WAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC.
