From the service report: " SCANNED FOUND NO TROUBLE CODES IN SYSTEM PUT VEHICLE ON LIFT AND INSPECTED FOUND LEFT REAR AXLE FAILED INTERNALLY NEEDS NEW AXLE TECH REMOVED AND REPLACED AXLE. My experience: I pulled out of our driveway and after ~100 yards I heard a clunk. I thought maybe I hit a pothole. After driving another ~300 yard I accelerated on a freeway onramp when the car lost power and served a bit. There were no warning lights or messages. I was just able to get off the onramp before entering the freeway. The loss of power and lack of some control was dangerous for me and to those behind me. The car was towed to the dealership (Genesis of Meriden). They determined that it was the rear axel. This is quite concerning because the axel or driveshaft had already been replaced as part of a recall. It is also concerning because the car has ~5000 miles.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
