While driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle started violently swerving from right to left, nearly causing a crash into a concrete median. The driver was able to regain control of the vehicle and safely drove to the residence. A tow truck driver was called to the residence and discovered that the rear driver’s side tire had extensive tread separation. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who determined that the rear driver’s side strut, brake line, fuel filler neck, inner fender, parking brake wiring harness, and rear driver’s side brake line were damaged during the failure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,900.
