GAS GAUGE CONTINUOUSLY FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY AND FULL EVEN WITH A FULL TANK, THIS ALSO CAUSES THE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT A RECALL HAS YET TO BE ISSUED. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WILL COVER HALF THE COST. WHY NOT THE WHOLE COST SINCE THIS ISSUE IS SO PREVALENT? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE ABNORMALLY AND THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE EXACT LEVEL OF GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED FOR SOME TIME. IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER ALSO FAILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD COVER FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,224. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 12/11/12*LJ
AFTER RECEIVING RECALL FOR FUEL PUMP AND SENDER,GAS GAUGE STARTED ACTING UP. WHEN FILLING, GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY WITH LIGHT ON OR WOULD GO ALL AROUND PASS FULL. WIFE HAD TO USE TRIP METER TO ESTIMATE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN TANK. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID LEVEL SENSOR FAILED AND REPLACED SAME AT NO COST. PICKED CAR UP AND WAS DRIVING ABOUT WEEK, WHEN WIFE SAID GAUGE NOT WORKING AGAIN. CHECKED AND FOUND WHEN CAR WAS STARTED GAUGE WENT TO HALF, TURNED CAR OFF GAUGE STAYED AT HALF AND WHEN STARTED AGAIN WENT TO 3/4 FULL. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND GAUGE WENT PASS FULL. CALLED DEALER TO ASK IF GM HAD COME UP WITH SOMETHING FOR THEIR CARS TO MAKE FUEL SO I WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY $5.00 PER GAL. THEY SAID NO, SO TOOK CAR BACK TO HAVE CHECKED AGAIN. THIS TIME WAS TOLD IT WAS CLUSTER WHICH WAS BAD. SO HAD REPLACED AT A COST OF $486.10 AND GUESS WHAT NOT PART OF RECALL. SO HAD TO PAYOUT OF POCKET. I TOLD THEM THEY NEED TO STOP PUTTING SO MANY CHINESE PARTS INTO SO CALLED MADE IN AMERICA CARS BECAUSE THEY CANNOT TALK TO EACH OTHER. JUST CROSSING FINGERS IT WILL GET ME TO MIDWEST AND BACK BEFORE SOMETHING ELSE GOES BAD. NEED THE GOOD OLD DAYS BACK WHEN YOU DIDN'T NEED A COMPUTER TO TROUBLE SHOOT A COMPUTER IN YOUR CAR. OH BY THE WAY, YOU CANNOT EXPECT THE POLITICIANS TO CALL FOR GM TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS, BECAUSE IT MIGHT LOWER THEIR STOCKS FROM INSIDE TRADING, WHEN THEY FOUND OUT THEY WERE BAILING GM OUT FROM BANKRUPTCY. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING. I CAN NO LONGER JUDGE SPEED. TIRES CRACKED AND DRY ROTTED ON SIDEWALLS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT EARLY MILEAGE. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE WENT CRAZY. I FILLED UP MY TANK BUT THE GAS GAUGE IS SHOWING INCORRECT READINGS. IT JUMPS LEFT, AND RIGHT AT RANDOM TIMES, AND SOMETIMES REPORTS THAT THE FUEL TANK IS EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT'S FULL. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND READS 120 MILES AN HOUR NO MATTER HOW FAST I'M TRAVELING. I CURRENTLY USE MY GPS TO WATCH MY SPEED. THIS IS UNSAFE AND THIS IS A ON-GOING COMPLIANT FOR MANY CONSUMERS. GM SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS AND IRRESPONSIBLE ASSEMBLE OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 GMC ENVOY THROUGH A PARKING LOT WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED, CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK AND COME TO A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE HALT. THE GAS NEEDLE SUDDENLY REGISTERED ON EMPTY (ALTHOUGH THERE WAS FUEL IN THE TANK) BUT THE SUV WOULDN'T RESTART SO I HAD IT TOWED. PER THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTICS, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS BAD, WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL. IN ADDITION TO THAT, THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR WAS BAD AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT ALONG WITH THE TANK. GMC HAD DIRECT MAILED ME A LETTER SEVERAL MONTHS PRIOR REGARDING A FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE; IN THAT LETTER, GMC OFFERED TO PICK UP 50% OF THE COSTS OF REPAIRS. I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCESS AND TO CONFIRM THAT IT WOULD BE HONORED PRIOR TO TOWING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH I REITERATED SEVERAL TIMES. DURING THAT CALL, I PROVIDED THE VIN, MILEAGE AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM PER THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE BRIDGED IN THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHO AGREED THAT THE WORK COULD BE DONE WITHIN A DAY'S TIME. NEITHER PROVIDED ANY CAVEATS TO HONORING THE "SPECIAL COVERAGE" OFFER. BASED ON OUR VERBAL AGREEMENT, I TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO LATER AGREED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILED BUT STATED THE SENDING UNIT AND TANK WEREN'T IN NEED OF REPAIR AS THEY'D PUT IN 5 GALLONS OF GAS AND STARTED THE ENGINE. THEY ALSO PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE OF $1150 FOR ALL OF THE WORK WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT I'D PAY 100% OF THE COST. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS/ESCALATIONS, GMC REFUSES TO PAY ANY PORTION OF ANY REPAIRS NOT BECAUSE THE SYSTEM WASN'T FAULTY, BUT BECAUSE MY MILEAGE EXCEEDED THEIR 120,000 MILE "SPECIAL COVERAGE" LIMIT (WHICH WAS ONLY DISCLOSED AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS). GMC HAS SHOWN NO REGARD TOWARDS THE SAFETY HAZARD THE FAULTY SYSTEM PRESENTS TO MY LIFE NOR MY PASSENGERS' LIVES OR ANY UNSUSPECTING MOTORISTS TRAVELING THE SAME COURSE SHOULD THE SUV STALL AGAIN. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IS READING INCORRECTLY. FOR EXAMPLE, IF GOING 25 MPH, IT SHOWS 70MPH. IT DOES NOT SHOW THE SAME SPEED EACH TIME EITHER. NEVER GOES TO 0 MPH. THIS PROBLEM JUST OCCURRED ONE DAY. *TR
INITIALLY THE AMP GAUGE PEGGED OUT FOLLOWED WITHIN A MONTH BY THE SPEEDOMETER GIVING UP OR SOMETIMES READING 120 MPH WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND COULD BE REPAIRED AT A COST OF ABOUT $600. NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD THAT AT THE TIME, I INSTALLED A GPS UNIT SO I WOULD HAVE SOME TYPE OF SPEEDOMETER. WITHIN 2 MOS. TIME THE CAR STALLED UPON TAKEOFF FROM A LIGHT WITH RINGING BELLS,THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS DIMLY LIT AND THE TACHOMETER BOUNCING FROM 500 TO 2500 RPMS WHILE THE ENGINE WAS STOPPED. THE CAR WOULD NOT RE-START UNTIL THE KEY WAS TURNED OFF ONCE OR TWICE AND THE WARNING LIGHTS LIT BRIGHTLY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECURRING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY SOMETIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OVER 65MPH. I'M TOLD GM IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS NOT MANDATED AS A "SAFETY PROBLEM". I DRIVE THE INTERSTATES FOR A LIVING AND HAVE NEARLY BEEN REAR ENDED NUMEROUS TIMES ALREADY. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND HOW CAN A COMPANY WHICH TOOK MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER BAILOUT MONEY NOT BE FORCED TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
FUEL GAUGE REGISTERS EMPTY AFTER FILLING TANK. LIGHT & SOUND SENSORS INDICATE LOW FUEL LEVEL. FUEL MUST DRAIN SLOWLY INTO TANK OR GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF. ELECTRICAL DASH INDICATORS DO NOT WORK FOR A TIME AFTER FUELING SO CANNOT SET THE TRIP INDICATOR TO GAUGE THE MILEAGE TO A TANK OF GAS. FUEL ON OCCASION DOES NOT SHUT OFF AT THE GAS PUMP WHEN TANK IS FULL. *TR
I HAVE A FUEL GAUGE THAT READ FULL BUT MY TANK WAS EMPTY MY SON AND MYSELF WAS ON THE HWY RAN OUT OF GAS AND HAD TO GET OUT AND WALK AS IT WAS 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE I HAD TO PUSH HIM INTO A DITCH AS WE ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK THEY SAY ITS NOT A LIFE HAZARD HOWEVER HAD I NOT PUSHED HIM AND JUMPED MYSELF WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIT AND KILLED HOW IS THAT NOT A HAZARD ALSO WHAT IF WE WOULD HAVE HAD SOMEONE STOP AND TRY AND HURT US .........THERE ARE ALOT OF STRANGE PPL IN THIS WORLD AND ALOT OF THINGS CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF GAS DUE TO A FAULTY PART. *TR
AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING ON LEVEL 5, WOULD WORK ON LEVEL 1-4, LEVEL 5 WOULD KEEP TURNING OFF. SHORTLY AFTER THIS WITHIN THE SAME DAY I COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. MECHANICS NOTED AND SHOWED ME THAT THE RESISTOR PLUGS ON THE BACK HAD BURNED AND MELTED TOGETHER, THAT'S WHAT WAS CAUSING THE BURNING SMELL. NEEDED A NEW RESISTOR, PIG TAIL, AND BLOWER. ALSO MY FUEL GAUGE AND RPM ARE BROKE, HAVE NOT BEEN WORKING FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. *TR
AS REPORTED BY MANY OTHER GM CUSTOMERS MY VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FUEL GAUGE/SENDING UNIT FAILURE. IT BEGAN SLOWLY WITH MINOR INACCURACIES IN FUEL AMOUNT. THEN IT QUICKLY AND STEADILY GOT WORSE UNTIL THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. I UNDERSTAND THAT GM ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM, BUT REFUSES TO PAY THE FULL PRICE. I BELIEVE THE NHTSA SHOULD FORCE THEM TO FULLY REPAIR THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT WHICH RENDERS THE DRIVER BLIND AS TO HOW MUCH FUEL THEY MAY HAVE. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO DISPLAY AN ACTUAL SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,400.
AFTER HAVING THE CAR SERVICED AT THE DEALER I NOTICED THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS SAGGING. I HAD THIS CHECKED AT THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. THE REAR SUSPENSION STILL WILL SAG BUT NOT WITH ANY REGULARITY, SOMETIMES IN ONE NIGHT, OTHER TIMES 3-4 NIGHTS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS PEGGED AT OVER 120MPH. WHEN I STOPPED IT WAS STILL PEGGED OVER 120 MPH. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE REPAIRS TO THE GAS GAUGE. I HAD JUST FILLED UP AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS ON. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE ON THIS VEHICLE IS OFF. ON TWO SEPARATE INCIDENCES WHEN THE GAS GAUGE IS JUST ABOVE THE RED EMPTY INDICATOR, THE VEHICLE ACTS LIKE IT IS RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THIS IS DEMONSTRATED BY DIFFICULTY EXCEL-ORATING AFTER STOPPING, OR GOING UP HILL. THEN 15-20 MILES LATER THE GAS LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE IS STRUGGLING TO GO BECAUSE IT IS LITERALLY RUNNING ON EMPTY. *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY OUT OF THE BLUE MY SPEEDOMETER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND MY GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY WITH LIGHT ON EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS! ADDITIONALLY THE FACTORY SPEAKERS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. THIS VEHICLE HAS ELECTRICAL ISSUES! *TR
FUEL GAUGES IS SHOWING EMPTY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FULL OF GASOLINE. ODOMETER IS NOT READING THE CORRECT SPEED. TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS MALFUNCTIONING. ON GOOGLE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS IS WIDELY KNOWN. WHAT IS GMC DOING TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES? THE TAX PAYERS HELP BAIL OUT GMC AND NOW WE ARE NOT BEING TREATED UNFAIRLY WHERE IS OUR JUSTICE? FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND THE FRONT END SOUNDS LIKE ITS LOOSE. I HAVE A FIVE YEAR OLD AND CAN;T EVEN TELL WHEN I'M LOW ON GAS AND I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE FRONT END. *JB
THE SPEED CONTROL NEEDLE WAS STUCK BETWEEN 60-120MPH ON 05-05-2012. NOW 05-09-2012 THE SPEED CONTROL NEEDLE IS STUCK AT 120MPH AND DOES NOT RETURN TO 0MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 65,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR PANEL CONTROL PROBLEMS (AIR BAG) WHICH IS STILL NOT FIXED EXTENDED WARRANTY IS NOW EXPIRED. *TR

GAS GAUGE INTERMITTENT. NEVER GIVING A CONSISTANT READING WITH NEEDLE MOVING ALL OVER THE PLACE ON GAUGE. *JS
THE REAR LIGHT, LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE SNAPPED OFF WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT AS RESULT, BUT VERY EASILY COULD HAVE CREATED ONE. WOULD LIKE FOR GMC TO COVER THE COST TO REPAIR. *TR
HEADLIGHTS BEGAN TO DIM, THEN BRIGHTEN REPEATEDLY, AS TO APPEAR TO BE "FLASHING" OTHER DRIVERS. SHORTLY AFTER, THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED. AFTER THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, A FEW DAYS LATER THE BATTERY GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING RIGHT. NOW, THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY JERKS, LIKE IT IS MISSING DUE TO LACK OF FUEL. CONTACTED GMC ON 11-09-2012. NO SOLUTION. *TR
THE SUV HAS SHUT OFF ON ME THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 2 1/2 YRS (THE TIME I HAVE OWNED IT. ) EACH TIME I WAS JUST DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF AND ALL LIGHTS, ETC JUST TURNED OFF. I AM CONCERNED WONDERING IF PERHAPS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 ENVOY IGNITION SWITCH AS WELL? NO, IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SERVICING OF THE SUV. I TAKE CARE OF THE VEHICLE AND I DON'T DRIVE 200 MILES A MONTH. I GUESS I AM LUCKY THAT EACH TIME I WAS NOT GONG FAST AND THE SUV JUST SLOWED DOWN AND CAME TO A STOP, ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HOWEVER THE 2ND TIME, I HAD 2 LITTLE GIRLS IN THE CAR WITH ME AND IT CONCERNED ME A GREAT DEAL.EACH TIME THE SUV STARTED BACK UP AND I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN GOING FASTER ? WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY ETC. IF THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION, PLEASE LETS FIX IT BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY KNOW ABOUT THE SHUT OFF PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THE CAR. JUST IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT MY CAR FROM A PRIVATE PARTY ON MONDAY 4/23/12. MY SPEEDOMETER WAS STUCK ON 80 MPH YESTERDAY WHEN IT WAS IN PARK AND WHEN I DROVE IT. NOW TODAY IS IS STUCK AT 120 MPH. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND FUEL LEVELS ARE NOT PROPERLY INDICATED. THE CAR SHAKES AND CUTS OFF WHEN IDLING. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND LOW FUEL ILLUMINATE CONTINUOUSLY. TOOK CAR IN TWICE TO [XXX] BLACK KENNESAW BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I INFORMED THEM ON BOTH SERVICE VISITS THAT I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC BUT THEY SAID MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY FILE A COMPLAINT. I HAVE BEEN READING A LOT AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2005 SERIES GMC ENVOY, CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. BASICALLY THE COOLING FAN CLUTCH GOES BAD EASILY AND QUICKLY. WHEN YOU START THE ENGINE IT IS FINE BUT AFTER THE CLUTCH NEEDS TO ENGAGE IT EITHER CLICKS, AND DOESN'T ENGAGE OR IT JUST MAKES THAT COMMON JET ENGINE ROARING. THIS IS ALL TO COMMON AND GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THERE HAVE BEEN PEOPLE WITH 40,000 MILES OR 140,000. I MY SELF AM ON MY SECOND ONE AND IT IS ALREADY DOING TO THE SAME THING AFTER 5 MONTHS. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY HAS STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY & ALSO THE THERMOSTAT GAUGE & THE GAS GAUGE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG ENVOY OWNER'S & IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDS TO BE RECALLED & REPLACED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO STEER ON ITS OWN TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BEARING, THE OUTER TIE RODS, AND THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE TIE ROD AND THE WHEEL BEARING WERE REPLACED. ALSO, WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE OVER AN UNEVEN SURFACE OR TURNED, A CLUNKING SOUND COULD BE HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,700.
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO STATING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL TO THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY VEHICLE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT SINCE I HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AND THE LETTER STATED NOT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER UNLESS YOU CURRENTLY HAD THE PROBLEM. AS OF A WEEK AGO THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. I FUELED UP UNTIL THE TANK WAS FULL AND THE GAUGE READS AS IF THE TANK IS EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON. IN ADDITION THE SPEEDOMETER HAS IS HAVING ISSUES NOW AS WELL. IT STICKS AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THEN JUST GOES TO ZERO AND STAYS THERE. IF IT WEREN'T FOR MY GPS I WOULD HAVE NO CLUE WHAT RATE OF SPEED I AM TRAVELING. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AS WELL AS THE DEALERSHIP AND THE REPAIR FOR THE FUEL GAUGE WILL COST ME $240 WITH GMC PAYING THE OTHER HALF. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE BEFORE I DID SO WHY AM I NOW STUCK WITH THE REPAIR BILLS? WHY WAS THIS NOT FIXED BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME SINCE I PURCHASED IT USED FROM THE DEALERSHIP? SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS.I SHOULD NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR GMC'S ERRORS! IN ADDITION THERE ARE RECALLS ON THE OTHER GMC MODELS FOR THE CLUSTER GAUGE THAT AFFECTS THE SPEEDOMETER. THE ENVOY WAS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE THERE WERE NOT A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS. ATTORNEY WRITES ON BEHALF OF THE CLIENT IN REGARDS TO FUEL LEVEL CENSOR THAT MAY WEAR PREMATURELY *TGW THE ATTORNEY STATED HIS CLIENTS VEHICLE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY AFTER FILLING THE TANK. ULTIMATELY, THE SENSOR WORE OUT, WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL GAUGE TO STOP WORKING. *JB
I PURCHASED MY ENVOY APPROX. 1 YEAR AGO. I HAVE 105,000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. MY SPEEDOMETER WOULD GET STUCK AT 50 MPH BUT WOULD SEEM TO ALWAYS END UP FIXING ITSELF. NOW IT IS PEGGED AT 120 AND HAS BEEN THAT WAY FOR 2 MONTHS. # 5 ON MY AC/HEAT BLOWER IS NOT WORKING. MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON EVERY TIME I START MY CAR. I CAN NOT TURN THEM OFF , USUALLY AFTER ABOUT 30 WIPES IT WILL TURN OFF. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO ME. AS I AM RESEARCHING THESE PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET, HOPING TO FIND SOME SORT OF RECALL, I FIND MANY OTHER ENVOY OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS!!!! FUEL GAUGE INDICATED NEARLY 1/4 TANK AND THE CAR RAN OUT OF GAS. FROM THAT TIME FORWARD THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH FROM EMPTY TO FULL RIGHT AFTER I FILLED COMPLETELY UP. IT WOULD START TO WORK PROPERLY AFTER ABOUT 40 MILES OR SO. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT MY RUNNING OUT OF GAS MAY HAVE HAD AN EFFECT ON THE CALIBRATION OF THE LEVEL SENSOR SINCE IT WAS ONLY DOING IT WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY FULL AND THEN WOULD WORK FINE AFTER AWHILE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE, IT CONTINUED TO BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL, BUT WITHIN A FEW WEEKS STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING ONCE THE TANK GOT DOWN TO AROUND 1/2 FULL. IT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND NOW CONTINUALLY STAYS ON EMPTY. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ALSO COME ON WHEN THE SENSOR WAS GOING CRAZY, AND NOW THAT ITS ALWAYS ON E, THE ENGINE LIGHT IS CONTINUALLY ON. I HAVE TO COMPLETELY FILL MY TANK AND SET MY TRIP ODOMETER EVERYTIME I FILL UP SO THAT I HAVE SOME IDEA OF HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, BUT IT HAS STILL CAUSED ME TO RUN OUT TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL TIME I RAN OUT AND I REALIZED THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS QUOTED A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO HAVE IT FIXED, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND OUT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SENSORS ON GM TRUCKS FROM THAT TIME FRAME AND GM ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE. MY TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS JUST UNDER 117,000 MILES ON IT. I BOUGHT IT USED FROM A GM DEALER IN 2010, AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTIFICATION. *TR

FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. I WILL FILL UP THE TANK AND TURN ON THE CAR AND IT READS LOW FUEL AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. THEN I CAN BE DRIVING AND IT WILL JUMP UP TO PAST 1/4 TANK THEN SLOWLY GO DOWN TO E AND READ LOW FUEL.
THE FUEL SENSOR ON MY VEHICLE SWINGS WILDLY FROM EMPTY TO FULL EVEN WHEN THE FUEL TANK HAS JUST BEEN FILLED. THIS RESULTS IN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO CONSTANTLY BE ON. I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR DUE TO THE FAULTY SENSOR. I HAVE CHECKED THE INTERNET AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED FOR YEARS. I CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WILL COVER 50% OF THE COST ONLY IF I TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER AND THAT MY PORTION OF THE COST WOULD BE BETWEEN $500 - $600 DOLLARS. THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THE COST IF I TAKE IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN KNOWN BY GM FOR YEARS AND THEY SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A COMPLETE RECALL TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE PART(S). *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 8 AM FRIDAY JANUARY 27TH I OPENED THE BACK HATCH OF MY GMC ENVOY. APPROXIMATELY 4-6 INCHES PULLING IT DOWN TO SHUT IT THE ENTIRE WINDOW SHATTERED ALL OVER ME, THE GROUND AND INSIDE MY CAR. I CALLED MY INSURANCE, PAID THE DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE IT REPLACED, IT WAS FIXED AND THEN TODAY JANUARY 28TH, ONE DAY AFTER HAVING IT REPLACED I WAS CLOSING THE DOOR AGAIN AND AT APPROXIMATELY THE SAME POINT IN CLOSING IT COMPLETELY SHATTERED AGAIN. THIS IS TWICE IN TWO DAYS. I WAS TOLD THE FIRST TIME IT PROBABLY HAD TO DO WITH THE WEATHER BUT THE WEATHER WAS WARMER TODAY THAN YESTERDAY AND SEVERAL FORUMS HAVE SHOWN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY SLT HAS BEGAN READING INCORRECTLY. THE GAUGE READS EMPTY EVEN WHEN THE TANK HAS FUEL IN IT. AFTER A DAY OR SO THE TANK READS NORMAL, THEN IT BEGINS TO FLUXUATE FROM CORRECT TO EMPTY. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL BEGIN COMING ON, AND WILL GO OFF AGAIN WITH NO RESETTING. *TR

THE REAR WINDSHIELD OF MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON TODAY. I LIFTED THE FULL HATCH (NOT JUST THE WINDOW SECTION) TO PLACE ITEMS IN THE BACK THAT I HAD PURCHASED AT HOME DEPOT. I PLACED A CAN OF PAINT, ONE BAG, AND A BAG OF SAND IN THE BACK - NOTHING THAT WAS NEAR THE GLASS OF THE HATCH. I THEN CLOSED THE HATCH WITH ENOUGH FORCE FOR IT TO CLOSE SECURELY, BUT NOT WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. AS I WALKED TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR TO ENTER THE CAR, I HEARD A LOUD POP THAT I THOUGHT WAS SOMEONE HITTING THE BACK OF MY CAR WITH THEIR VEHICLE. AS I WALKED AROUND TO THE BACK, MY REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED INTO A MILLION TINY PIECES. THERE WERE NO OBJECTS OR PEOPLE AROUND THE WINDOW CLOSE ENOUGH TO BREAK IT - IT JUST SHATTERED FOR NO REASON AT ALL! THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ISSUES WITH REAR WINDSHIELDS, BUT I FOUND INFORMATION THAT DIFFERS ON LINE. FORTUNATELY, THE DEDUCTIBLE ON MY INSURANCE IS ONLY $200. HOWEVER, FOR OTHERS, I HAVE SEEN WHERE THEY HAVE HAD TO PAY UP TO $1500 OUT OF POCKET FOR THE EXPENSE BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO REPLACE THE WINDOW. THE COMPANY THAT IS COMING TO REPLACE IT SAID THE WINDOW ITSELF COSTS $937, NOT INCLUDING THE INSTALLATION. *TR
I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM IN THE PAST WITH THE FUEL GAUGE READING EMPTY CONTINUOUSLY AS I HAVE READ FROM MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS. RECENTLY I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE. AT FIRST THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED INTERMITTENTLY AND THEN THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE DROPPED TO ZERO, AT WHICH TIME THE MESSAGE IN ON THE LCD READING SAID "STOP ENGINE" AND "OIL PRESSURE LOW". I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MY GAS STATION AND CHECKED THE OIL, WHICH WAS ONLY DOWN A 1/4 TANK. MY MECHANIC STOPPED THE CAR AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE RESET ITSELF BUT ONCE I STARTED TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN, THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED. MY MECHANIC BELIEVES IT IS ANOTHER SENSOR PROBLEM LIKE THE FUEL SENSOR BUT IS NOT COMPLETELY SURE. I ONLY STARTED WITH THIS ISSUE TODAY BUT IT IS MORE WORRISOME TO ME THAN KEEPING TRACK OF HOW MUCH GAS SHOULD BE IN MY TANK. I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW IF OTHERS HAVE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW AND HAVE DRIVE 79000 MILES. I ALSO HAD A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM WITH I BELIEVE IS COMMON IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATED THAT I WAS GOING 90+ MPH. I SLOWED DOWN TO THE POINT THAT PEOPLE WERE PASSING ME IN A 65MPH ZONE AND MY SPEEDOMETER WAS INDICATING 60 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE CONTINUED TO ERRATICALLY GO UP AND DOWN. *TR
