I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY AND I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE A WATER PUMP, A BLOWER MOTOR WIRING HARNESS THAT MELTED INTO MY TRUCK, THE LIGHTS ARE HALF OUT ON ME HEATER AND MY DOOR PANEL WHERE YOU PUT THE WINDOWS UP AND DOWN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER IN THE BACK WORKS WHEN IT WANTS MY SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK ON 40 EVEN WHEN ITS OFF AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO! *TR
I HAVE A 2005 ENVOY AND I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER. I FILL UP THE TANK AND IT DOES NOT READ FULL, IT CONTINUES TO READ EMPTY. WHILE DRIVING MY SON BACK TO SCHOOL WITH MY THREE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR THE SPEEDOMETER JUST STOPPED WORKING. IT WAS SHOWING THAT I WAS GOING 120 MILES WHEN I WAS ONLY GOING 40 ISH. THE OTHER THING THAT SHOCKS ME IS THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THESE ISSUES. IT HAS TO BE SOME SORT OF DEFECT BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT MOVE WHETHER THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY OR FULL TO CAPACITY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS OR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAULTY FUEL GAUGE COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF FUEL WITHOUT KNOWING AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR HARNESS MELTED AND STARTED ON FIRE. SOME BURNT PLASTIC BEHIND DASH AND MELTED WIRES. HAD TO REPLACE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND HARNESS, AND WILL PROBABLY REPLACE FAN SPEED CONTROLLER. NOT SURE WHAT CAUSE IS...... *TR
MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING 8 MONTHS AGO, TOOK TO GMC DEALER FOR SERVICE ESTIMATE. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THESE FUEL GAUGES ALWAYS GO OUT ON ENVOYS AND THE COST TO REPAIR WAS $578.00 (PLUS TAX) - I CHOKED AND DID NOT GET REPAIRED. 3 MONTHS LATER AFTER TRYING TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE FUEL GAUGE - IT BECAME A NIGHTMARE TO KNOW IF WE HAD GAS IN THE VEHICLE OR NOT, I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SAID "WE SEE THIS FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM ALL THE TIME ON THE ENVOYS"... THEY SAID THE GMC PARTS WERE A RIP-OFF AND EXPENSIVE, THEY WOULD HAVE TO USE GMC PARTS FOR THE FUEL GAUGE AND THEY QUOTED $408.00 (PLUS TAX) FOR THE REPAIR. THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR THE REPAIR SHOP SAID HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVE NOT HAD A RECALL ON THIS SINCE THEY HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF GMC'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. HE SAID WE MAY WANT TO WAIT ON THE REPAIR TO SEE IF GM HAS A RECALL. ON AUGUST 30, I RECEIVED A WRITTEN NOTIFICATION FROM GMC STATING AN ISSUE WITH ENVOYS AND THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, GMC STATED THEY WOULD ONLY COVER 50% OF THE COST OF REPAIR. WHAT A JOKE, 50% OF A $600 REPAIR BILL FOR A PROBLEM THEY ADMIT IN WRITING IS A SCAM TO TRY AND GET AS MANY PEOPLE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR ($300) BEFORE THE GOV'T. MANDATES A RECALL. I CALLED GMC AND REQUESTED A 100% PAID REPAIR AND THEY REFUSED. I WILL BE GLAD TO FORWARD THE "FUEL SENSOR FAILURE" LETTER IF YOU NEED. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP? THE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND OWNERS OF GMC ENVOYS THAT WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATIVE - THANK YOU IN ADVANCE... *TR *KB
I OWN A 2005 GMC ENVOY THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OUT ON A MONTHLY BASIS. THE LAST TIME IT ACTUALLY MELTED THE CONNECTION AND NEEDS THE WHOLE LAMP TO BE REPLACED. THE GAS GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING AND PART OF THE INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS. WE REPLACED THE FAN SWITCH A WHILE BACK FOR THE HEATER AND THE CD PLAYER STARTED WORKING AGAIN AND THE DRIVERS SIDE TEMPERATURE LIGHT CAME BACK ON FOR TWO DAYS. *TR
MY COMPLAINT AS WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHERS......IF GMC IS ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAULTY GAS SENSORS, THEN WHY DO I HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HALF OF THE BILL TO CORRECT IT ? MY CAR CANNOT PASS MY STATES EMISSIONS TESTING, BECAUSE AS LONG AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, IT WILL CONTINUE TO FAIL...I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I WANT GMC TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ENTIRE BILL...NOT HALF !! *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY XL BACK REAR DOOR WINDOW BRACKET DETACHED THE FIRST TIME, THE SECOND TIME THE BRACKET ITSELF BROKE AND SHATTERED THE REAR WINDOW. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT PEOPLE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY HAVE EXPERIENCED. I AM TRYING TO GET WARRANTY TO COVER IT BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME THEY DON'T COVER BROKEN GLASS, WELL IF THE BRACKET DIDN'T SNAP IN 2 THE GLASS WOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN. I AM VERY LUCKY I WAS NOT BLINDED BY THE EXPLOSION OF GLASS. I TOOK PICTURES WHICH SHOW PIECES OF GLASS OVER 20 FEET AWAY. OVERHEATED AND MELTED ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AT FAN SPEED SWITCH UNDER DASH! *LN
2005 ENVOY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GOING BAD. IT WILL SEEM FINE THEN THE MPH GO WAY OFF AND WHO KNOWS IF YOU CAN TRUST THE OTHER GAUGES WHILE ON THE ROAD. I'VE READ THAT MOST GMC ENVOYS HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND GMC IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE KNOWN PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WILL COST ME 575 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY XUV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO ADD MORE THAN 15 GALLONS OF GASOLINE INTO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000. UPDATED 07/08/11*LJ THE FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL GAUGE LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVEN WHEN THE CONSUMER PUT GAS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED NO ONE HAS A SOLUTION. UPDATED 07/15/11
SPEEDOMETER STUCK AT 60MPH WHILE TRAVELING. DIDN'T MATTER IF STOPPED, ACCELERATING, DECELERATING, OR TURNING VEHICLE OFF. TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING IT SEEMED TO CAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER TO DECREASE, SOME, FINALLY GETTING IT TO REGISTER 20MPH. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IN THE MORNING THE SPEEDOMETER STILL REGISTERED 20 MPH AND UPON ACCELERATION THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATED FINALLY SETTLING AT 80MPH. WE WERE UNABLE TO TELL HOW FAST WE REALLY ARE TRAVELING BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER IS WACKO. STOPPING AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HELP. THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT RESET TO ZERO IT IS NOW STUCK AT 80MPH. OUR LOCAL GM DEALER ADVISED THAT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED BUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 75,000 MILES WAS OFFERED ON THE VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. OUR VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILEAGE FOR THE WARRANTY. GM IS AWARE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH WACKO SPEEDOMETERS HENCE THE WARRANTY EXTENSION. ONE WOULD ASSUME BEING ABLE TO MONITOR ONES SPEED IN A VEHICLE IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
SPEEDOMETER FAILURE IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE (MULTIPLE TIMES)
2005 GMC ENVOY XL 64,900 MILES. SPEEDOMETER ERRATIC OPERATION. SINCE FIRST INCIDENT, SYMPTOMS UNDER VARYING DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE; SPEEDOMETER ERRONEOUSLY INDICATES TOO LOW A SPEED, SPEEDOMETER INDICATES TOO HIGH A SPEED, SPEEDOMETER INDICATION STICKS AT A FIXED SPEED WITH CHANGING VEHICLE SPEED.
GMC ENVOY. GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK CAUSING THE CAR TO RUN OUT OF GAS OFTEN IN COLD WEATHER. CAR WOULD NOT START SEVERAL TIMES AND RAN OUT OF GAS ON HIGHWAY. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE I NOTICED THAT MY FUEL GAUGE STARTED MOVING BACK AND FORTH REPEATEDLY. ORIGINALLY IT ALWAYS SAID THAT I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS, BUT NOW IT TENDS TO READ THAT I AM ALMOST OUT OF GAS EVEN WHEN I HAVE JUST FILLED UP.
FUEL GAUGE PROBLEMS....MY FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN FLOATING FROM 1/2 A TANK TO EMPTY FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS AND NOW IT THE FUEL LIGHT JUST STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THERE IS GAS IN THE CAR. AFTER RUNNING FOR A WHILE THE GAUGE WILL SAY THERE IS GAS AND THEN IT WILL GO BACK DOWN TO EMPTY. *TR
MY HUSBAND FILLED THE ENVOY WITH GAS, AND WHEN WE DROVE OFF WE NOTICED THE GAS GAUGE WAS READING EMPTY. WE THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THE PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND WE HADN'T ACTUALLY PUMPED GAS, SO WE DROVE A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD TO ANOTHER GAS STATION TO SEE IF WE COULD GET MORE GAS. WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO PUMP LESS THAN A GALLON, SO WE FIGURED OUT THE GAUGE WASN'T READING CORRECTLY. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 45 MINUTES THE GAUGE SLOWLY MOVED FROM EMPTY TO HALF FULL, WOULD DROP BACK TO EMPTY AT RANDOM POINTS (SOMETIMES WHILE STOPPED, SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING). EVER SINCE THIS TIME OUR GAUGE HAS FLUCTUATED WILDLY, READING EMPTY THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME, BUT OCCASIONALLY MOVING ABOUT FROM A QUARTER FULL TO HALF THEN BACK TO EMPTY. WE HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED A FIX AS WE CANNOT AFFORD ANYTHING EXTRA AT THIS POINT DUE TO MY HUSBAND BEING DIAGNOSED WITH A TERMINAL DISEASE AND THE RESULTING MEDICAL BILLS PILING UP. *TR
DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER CHECK ENGINE ON AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT ON.. CAR SPED UP FAST AND THEN DROPPED DOWN TO NO SPEED DROVE 5 MPH TO GET HOME. *TR
MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. AT 1/4 TANK, I FILLED UP THE TANK, STARTED THE ENGINE AND THE FUEL NEEDLE WENT PAST EMPTY AND LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER MANY RE-STARTS, DAYS THE GAUGE IS STILL NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. AS I DRIVE NOW WITH A FULL TANK THE GAUGE NEEDLE CONTINUES TO SLOWLY GO UP AND GO DOWN WITH DRIVING. *TR
ONE DAY I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK AND IT READ EMPTY WHEN I DROVE AWAY. IT HAS READ EMPTY EVER SINCE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MOVING SLIGHTLY ABOVE E FOR A FEW MININUTE WHILE DRIVING OR AFTER FILLING THE TANK AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON HERE AND AM HOPING FOR A RECALL. I FILL UP EVERY OTHER DAY JUST TO BE SURE I DON'T RUN OUT OF GAS. THIS FIRST HAPPENED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. MY ENVOY IS A 2005 WITH ABOUT 85K MILES.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE DASHBOARD LIT UP AND THE ODOMETER AND ALL THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS WENT TO ZERO. THIS HAS HAPPENED OFTEN OVER THE YEARS. I TOOK IT TO TWO GMC CAR DEALERSHIPS AND THE FIRST ONE SAID IT WAS THE KILL SWITCH INSTALLED BY A BUY HERE PAY HERE DEALERSHIP. THE KILL SWITCH WAS REMOVED AND THE DASHBOARD CONTINUED TO FLICKER. THEN THE CAR WOULD NOT START, I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THE CAR BEGAN TO TRIBBLE, AGAIN I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO CLEAN THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. I DID THAT AND BOUGHT A BATTERY BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP. THE TOW DRIVER SAID IT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BUT THE CAR DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND A SOLUTION. HAVE YOU HAD THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE? NOT TO CONFUSE THE COMPLAINT, I HAVE SEVERAL ISSUES. 1. DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP AND THE INFORMATION PANELS SHUT DOWN (ALL ARE AT ZERO) 2. THE ODOMETER GOES TO ZERO AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS BLACK 3. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2005 GMC ENVOY. SHE STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETERS WERE FAULTY. THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED EMPTY AND THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THAT THE SPEED 100 MPH WHILE SHE WAS ONLY DRIVING 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 103,000.
MY 2005 GMC ENVOY'S FUEL GAUGE HAS FAILED. IT NOW READS AS "EMPTY", NO MATTER HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK. TO MY KNOWLEDGE, THERE IS NO EASY OR INEXPENSIVE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I OWN A 2005 GMC ENVOY THAT IS HAVING A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE GAS GAUGE AND THE SENDER UNIT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON. DEFECTIVE GAS GAUGE IN 2005 ENVOY, ONLY HAS 56,000 MILES ON IT. GAUGE BOUNCES ERRATICALLY, AND EVEN AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK THE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY. PROBLEM JUST STARTED LAST WEEK AND NOW HAPPENS DAILY - THERE IS NO RELIABLE WAY TO TELL HOW MUCH GAS I ACTUALLY HAVE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT I NOTICED ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE 2005 GMC ENVOY AND THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY SO I DON'T EXACTLY HOW MUCH GAS I DO HAVE. WHEN I PUT GAS IN IT REGISTERS FUEL LEVEL LOW AND ITS A PROBLEM BECAUSE I TRAVEL ALOT WITH WORK AND RUN THE RISK OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND BEING STRANDED,ITS VERY FRUSTRATING. *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY FUEL LIGHT REMAINS AT A STEADY LIGHT WHEN EITHER FUEL IS LOW OF FULL. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE NOVEMBER 2010. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE IS INOPERABLE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN THE 2004 -2007 GMC ENVOY, CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS AND BUICK RANIER. I KNOW AT LEAST 4 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THE DEALER STATES THAT THIS IS NOT A CLASS ACTION ISSUE BUT TO MANY COMMENTS ARE ON THE INTERNET. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AT INTERSECTIONS AND PARKING LOTS WHEN PROCEEDING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AFTER BEING STOPPED. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY STATED THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE WITH THE GM PRODUCTS. GM SHOULD BE RECALL ALL VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE FUEL SENDING UNITS AT NO CHARGE OR A REDUCED CHARGE(COST OF PART OR LABOR WHICHEVER IS THE LEAST COST TO THE OWNER). THE GOVERNMENT HAS BAILED THEM OUT NOW IT IS TIME FOR GM TO DO THE RIGHT THING. ALSO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY ALSO AND THIS RESULTED IN SPEEDING TICKETS. I HAVE REPLACED WITH A REMANUFACTURED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT THE COST OF $150.00 VS $600.00 WITH THE LOCAL GM DEALER.
THE GAS GAUGE IS MALFUNCTIONING IN MY 2005 GMC ENVOY (VIN # [XXX]) WHEREAS IT DOES NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GASOLINE.....I CAN FILL IT COMPLETELY UP AND IT WILL SHOW PAST THE EMPTY MARK AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL SHOW 1/4 TANK RIGHT AFTER I FILL UP. I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS 3X (FORTUNATELY NOT ON A BUSY THOROUGHFARE), BUT THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS NOT EVER KNOWING FOR CERTAIN HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN MY TANK OR NOT. IT IS SO ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING AND NOT ONLY THAT BUT MY GAS GAUGE 'DINGS' OFF AND ON ALL THE TIME INDICATING THAT I AM LOW ON FUEL EVEN AFTER I HAVE FILLED THE VEHICLE UP. I BOUGHT A 2005 GMC ENVOY ROUGHLY 2 YEARS AGO WITH 67K AND AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL SENSOR. WHEN I FILL UP WITH GAS THE SENSOR READS TANK AS EMPTY DIRECTLY AFTER AND SEEMS TO FLUCTUATE TO WHATEVER IT WANTS THE REST OF THE TIME. UPON RESEARCHING THE INTERNET WITH THIS ISSUE IT APPEARS THAT SEVERAL OTHER CONSUMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND GMC IS NOT WILLING TO HELP BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SAFETY RISK. I PERSONALLY DO SEE THIS AS A SAFETY RISK, IF YOU DON'T PAY PROPER ATTENTION YOU COULD RUN OUT OF GAS AND BE STRANDED ANYWHERE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATED AN INACCURATE SPEED. WHEN DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER MAY SHOW A READING OF 80 MPH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
THE CLUSTER DOESN'T WORK OR WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR 3 TO 4 YEARS THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO BUT FOR THE MOST PART IT DOESN'T. THE GAS GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY AND THE OIL PRESSURE READS ABOVE 80. THEY SENT ME A LETTER YESTERDAY TO SAY THEY ARE NOW FIXING THE FUEL GAUGE IF YOU HAVE LESS THEN 120,000 MILES BUT I HAVE MORE THEN THAT NOW IF THEY WOULD HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM YEARS AGO WHEN THEY KNEW ABOUT IT I WOULD HAVE BEEN OK. THEY STILL ARE NOT FIXING THE SPEEDOMETER AND I THINK THAT IS MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE THEN THE GAS GAUGE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT SPEED WHILE DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE GAUGE WAS REGISTERING 100 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,795.
THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD RESULT IN A SUBJECT VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, STALL, AND BEING REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT HAS A VARIABLE RESISTOR ATTACHED TO A FLOAT INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. AS YOU USE FUEL, THE FLOAT CHANGES POSITION (DOWNWARDS) CAUSING THE VARIABLE RESISTOR TO CHANGE VALUE. THE CHANGE IN RESISTANCE CAUSES A CHANGE IN THE VOLTAGE SENT TO THE FUEL GAGE. MY P0463 ERROR IS SAYING THAT THE VARIABLE RESISTOR IS SHOWING HIGH INPUT, INSTEAD OF A TYPICAL SMALL VALUE. THIS MEANS THAT THE VARIABLE RESISTOR OR SOMETHING ELSE INSIDE THE SENDER UNIT IS CAUSING THE ECM TO "SEE" AN INVALID VOLTAGE ON THE FUEL GAGE CIRCUIT. IF THE VOLTAGE IS TOO HIGH THEN THE RESISTANCE IS TOO HIGH. POSSIBLY A BAD CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ECU AND THE SENDER OR A GROUNDING PROBLEM.
IN JUNE OF 2007 I COULD NOT CLOSE EITHER OF THE REAR DOORS ON MY VEHICLE. THEY FAILED APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS APART. I WAS TRANSPORTING TWO GRAND CHILDREN AT THE TIME. THANK HEAVEN THEY WERE YOUNG ENOUGH TO REQUIRE CAR SEATS. WE WERE AT THE MERCY OF STRANGERS ON THE HIGHWAY. WITH DONATED ROPE TO SECURE THE DOORS WE MADE IT HOME. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLIES. I PAID $125 FOR LABOR ONLY. THE DEALER MUST HAVE REPLACED THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLIES WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART. ON 10/12/10 THE LEFT REAR DOOR FAILED AGAIN! AFTER TYING THE DOOR AND USING DUCT TAPE TO SECURE IT I DROVE THE 30 MILES TO THE NEAREST DEALER. ALTHOUGH I HAD TO PAY $295.35 TO REPLACE THE LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO DO IT IMMEDIATELY. I AM NOW CARRYING ROPE AND DUCT TAPE IN ANTICIPATION OF FAILURE OF THE RIGHT REAR DOOR LOCK. MY VEHICLE IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. MAINTENANCE IS FOLLOWED RELIGIOUSLY. (THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MANUAL TO INDICATE DOOR LOCKS SHOULD BE CHECKED. LUBRICATED BUT NOT CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE FAILURE.) THESE FAILURES ARE IN NO WAY MY RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN THAT CAN VERY WELL END IN INJURY. I WOULD HAVE ASSUMED THAT GM WOULD HAVE BEEN CONCERNED AND IF NOT ISSUE A RECALL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTIVE LOCKS. HAVE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS CHECK THESE LOCKS WHEN VEHICLES ARE BROUGHT IN FOR NORMAL MAINTENANCE. NOT ONLY DO THEY NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY THEY ACTUALLY REPLACE THE LOCKS WITH THE SAME LOCK ASSEMBLY THAT IS DOOMED FOR FAILURE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE ENVOY OVER STEVENS PASS ( WASHINGTON STATE) THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN READING A SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER SPEED THAN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING...AT FIRST SHE TRIED TO SPEED UP FEARING THAT SHE HAD ABSENTMINDEDLY BEGAN TO SLOW BUT SOON REALIZED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUED TO REFLECT EVEN LOWER SPEEDS. AFTER GOING TO THE INTERNET I'VE DISCOVERED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS FOR THE YEARS 2003 THRU 2007 AND ACTUALLY THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED. ( I DON'T KNOW THE DISPOSITION) THE REMEDY IS REPLACING THE ENTIRE GAUGE CLUSTER AT A COST OF AROUND $500. SEEMS UNFAIR CONSIDERING THIS IS A PROBLEM OF GMS' AND APPARENTLY KEPT SECRET WHILE CHARGING THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR THEIR PROBLEMS . I WILL FILL UP & THE GAS GAUGE WILL TELL ME THERE IS NO GAS IN IT UNTIL SO MANY MILES AND IT STILL WONT TELL ME THERE IS A FULL TANK , IT WILL JUST CREEP UP A LITTLE. THE FUEL SENSING SYSTEM HAS FAILED. THE FIRST SYMPTOM WAS A FUEL GAUGE REGISTERING 0 AND A CHECK FUEL LEVEL MESSAGE AFTER I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK. FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, THE GAUGE WOULD SLOWLY CLIMB TO SLIGHTLY ABOVE HALF FULL, BUT OFTEN RETURN TO 0 WITH THE MESSAGE OCCURRING WHENEVER STOPPING THE CAR OR ON ENGINE STARTUP. NOW THE GAUGE SELDOM GOES ABOVE A QUARTER FULL, EVEN THOUGH I TYPICALLY KEEP THE TANK MORE THAN HALF FULL. I AM ABLE TO ESTIMATE FUEL CONSUMED USING THE TRIP ODOMETER, BUT THIS IS NOT SATISFACTORY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A YEAR AND THE DEALER IS UNWILLING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR FIXING IT. *TR

THE INSIDE COURTESY LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ONE BACK UP LIGHT WILL NOT WORK THE LEFT BRAKE LIGHT GETS NO POWER AND WON'T WORK. ONLY 3 OF THE 5 SPEED SETTINGS ON THE FAN WORK. ALMOST DUSK, HIGH BEAMS WERE ON. THOUGHT I SAW A FLICKER. GOT BEHIND ANOTHER CAR AND SAW THAT IT WAS MY LIGHTS. LOOKED TO MY PANEL AND MY VOLTAGE WAS SWINGING BETWEEN 9 VOLTS UP TO 18-19 VOLTS. TURNED ALL POWER DRAW OFF EXCEPT MY LOW BEAMS. NEEDLE KEPT SWINGING AND LIGHTS KEPT FLASHING. WAS 6 MILES FROM HOME. I MADE IT. THERE WAS A DISCHARGE TO MY SYSTEM INSTEAD OF CONTINUEING TO CHARGE. TOOK TO DEALER. NOTHING FOUND. 11-6-2012 IT HAPPENED AGAIN. HAS HAPPENED INBETWEEN ALSO. VERY INTERMITTANT. HAD BATTTERY & ALTERNATOR CHECKED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. ALWAYS GOOD. AFTER INCIDENTS, WORKS FINE UNTIL NEXT TIME. NEVER HAPPENED IN SUMMER. ALWAYS WHEN COOLER WEATHER. NOW THAT IT IS DECEMBER, AFRAID TO DRIVE AFTER DARK. THERE MUST A BULLENTIN OR RECALL???
