Brakes lines failed under truck do to rusted out lines
EMERGENCY BRAKES DON'T ENGAGE
CORRODED BRAKE LINES. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED PREVIOUSLY. I WAS DRIVING DOWN RURAL ROAD GETTING READY TO TURN IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY BRAKES GAVE OUT. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO GET IT INTO THE GRAVEL DRIVEWAY WITHOUT KILLING SOMEONE. WHEN I LOOKED UNDERNEATH TO FIND THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND ONE HAD BURST. I HAD PART OF THE LINE FIXED WITH COPPER TUBING. I HAVE SINCE HAD 2 MORE LINES BURST. AS WELL AS A FUEL LINE LEAK. THIS HAS BECOME FRUSTRATING.*DT*JB
PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, LOST BRAKES. STEEL BRAKE LINES BY FUEL TANK, LET GO CAUSING TRUCK TO LOOSE BRAKES
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2004 AND HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE AND ALMOST 100,00 MILES IN ALMOST 14 YEARS HOWEVER I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND ALL THE BRAK FLUID CAME OUT I HAD TO DRIVE OVER A PERSON LAWN TO AVOID HITTING A PERSON AND A MOVING VEHICLE ON 7/1/2017 DUE TO RUSTY BRAKE LINE AND CHECKING ALL LINES WERE RUSTED . I AM ALMOST 75 YEARS OLD AND VERY CONCERNED I WAS AWARE THE LINES WERE ALL RUSTED DUE TO IMPORTED BRAKE LINES WITH INFERIOR METALS, NEVER HEARD ABOUT AND NOTICE OR RECALL.I ALMOST INJURED A PERSON AND HIT A CAR IF I DID NOT DRIVE ON SOMEONES LAWN THE VEHIVLE WAS MOVING ABOUT 35 MPH .
BRAKES WENT OUT AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, BRAKE LINE CORROSION
ON JANUARY 24, 2017 TRAVELING ON PA TURNPIKE AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 70MPH, WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW WHEN APPROACHING SLOWER VEHICLES. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE ALMOST RAN INTO THE REAR OF SLOWER VEHICLES. METAL BRAKE LINE RUPTURED ABOVE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. WHEN INSPECTED, ALL BRAKE LINES EXHIBITED EXTREME RUST/CORROSION TO THE POINT OF FLAKING AND THINNING. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MAJOR COLLISION AND WOULD HAVE INJURED OR KILLED OCCUPANTS. THIS PROBLEM IS A MAJOR KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED BY GM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BUT THE DETAILS OF THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-75 HIGHWAY ABOUT 70 MPH, IN MOTION, IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN AND HAD TO STOP FAST WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN FRONT OF ME. I SLAMMED/MASHED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ONLY TO FEEL IT FALL TO THE FLOOR, THE METAL HYDRAULIC LINE FAILED AND I NOW HAVE NO BRAKES AT ALL!! I BEGAN TO PRESS ON THE PARKING BRAKE AND DOWN SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION TO ASSIST IN THE SLOWING OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO STEERED AROUND THE STOPPED CARS INTO THE SIDE AND DITCH OF THE ROAD. I LUCKILY HAD THE RIGHT REACTIONS BUT NOT ALL PEOPLE DO OR CANNOT ACT AS FAST. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE WITH THIS GMC SIERRA 2004. PLEASE HAVE IT RECALLED. I HAD TO HAVE THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACE ALL THE METAL BRAKE LINES AS THEY WERE CORRODED. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE FAIL ITS BRAKE LINES LIKE THIS. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 48,000 MILES ON IT AND IS GARAGE KEPT SUPER CLEAN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,395.
IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS THE FUEL LINES NEEDED REPLACEMENT AS THEY HAD RUSTED SO BADLY THAT A LEAK FORMED. YESTERDAY WHILE PULLING MY 10,000 POUND BOAT, MY BRAKES SUDDENLY FAILED BECAUSE OF A LEAK IN THE LINE BETWEEN THE ABS BOX AND THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE NEARLY CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AND BOAT. I WAS ABLE TO DOWNSHIFT AND USE BY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING THE RIG TO A STOP.

WERE SAULT IS USE ALWAYS AND IT HAS ROTTED MY BRAKE LINES AT THE ABS CONTROLL A LINE LET GO ON MY TRUCK WITH FAMILY AND MY GRAND BABIES I AM A HEAVY TRUCK OPERATOR WITH A CDL SO I KNOW NOT TO PANIC I GOT MY TRUCK STOPPED WITHOUT A CRASH BUT IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVEING OR MY YOUNG DAUGHTER THEY WOULDNT BE SO LUCKY WE IN THE SAULTING STATES SHOULD HAVE STANELESS STEAL FOR SAFTY CANT BE TO MUCH TO ASK FOR YOUNG LIFES AT STAKE OR PEOPLE WHO PANIC WHAT SHOULD I DO AT THE TIME I WAS IN THE CITY OF TAUNTON I WAS COMING TO A HEAVILY TRAVELED STREET IN RUSH HOUR TRAFIC THE BRAKE LINE TO REAR BRAKES FALLED BECAUSE OF ROT ON INSPION I SEE THEY ARE ALL ROTTING AND NEED TO BE REPAIRED I DONT HAVE BODY ROT OR FRAME ROT OF ANY KIND ALWAYS CAR WASH AFTER STORMS ON NICE DAYS.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTING CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO PRESSURE/FLUID LOSS

THE BRAKES ON MY TRUCK FAILED DUE TO THE BRAKE LINE CORROSION. I PUSHED ON MY BRAKES WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY LOST ALL BRAKING POWER AND HAD MY BRAKE . LUCKILY I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND, I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE BRAKE LINES REPLACED. UPON SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE ADVISOR HE SAID THAT THIS WAS COMMON AND THAT THE NEW BRAKE LINES WERE COATED AND WILL NOT RUST. NONE THE LESS THE REPAIR COST AND TOWING COST WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 197,000.
I EXPERIENCED A BRAKE LINE FAILURE ON MY 2004 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB PICKUP TRUCK. I WAS TRAVELING AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED AND COMING UP TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS USED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I FOUND THE AREA AROUND THE BRAKE MODULE, IN THE FRAME AREA UNDER THE DRIVER'S AREA, SOAKED WITH BRAKE FLUID AND CORRODED BRAKE LINES.
AS I APPROACHED A MAJOR INTERSECTION THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED YELLOW AND I APPLIED THE BRAKES PREPARING TO STOP. THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK ROLLED HALFWAY INTO THE INTERSECTION BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO STEP ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND FULLY STOP THE TRUCK. THE DASHBOARD FLASHED ON INDICATING "REPAIR BRAKES"...A LITTLE TOO LATE TO HELP. IF I HAD A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME , I WOULD HAVE HIT IT AND POSSIBLE INJURIES WOULD HAVE RESULTED. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND WAS GLAD FOR SEAT BELTS.
