On 7/30/21 was driving on freeway going about 60mph in a heavy rainstorm when wiper blades suddenly stopped working in the middle of my windshield. Nearly crashed the car due to extremely poor visibility. This was a horrifying and dangerous safety issue. Had to pull over to side of the road out of traffic and wait for the rain to stop. I was in the middle of an 8 hour road trip and still had 4 hours of driving to go. Upon investigation when turning the blades on you can hear the motor working but no movement of the blades. Thankfully no one got hurt in this event. This happened shortly after hitting 100k miles.
Driving and there was a thump and the right windshield wiper arm came to a stop in the middle of my windshield and would no longer work during a downpour.
I was driving to work during a rain storm. I drove for about 25 minutes until I reached the highway. I merged onto the highway behind a tractor trailer. There was enough spray that I needed to put the wipers on high speed. After driving for a few minutes the wipers came down and stopped halfway. I was able to pull over on the shoulder and tried to determine what happen. I turned wipers off and on and could hear the wiper motor whirring. Motor worked but wipers did not engage. I got out of the vehicle and pushed the wipers down and they moved freely telling me they are not connected to the motor. This was very dangerous and scary! I am now in need of repairing this issue.
On an extremely rainy day, the windshield wipers stopped working. My son was driving the car, and his safety was extremely compromised. He could not see out the windshield at all, and he was lucky that he was in a position to get to the side of the road without incident. If he were on a highway, it would have been extremely dangerous. This occurred on July 8th, 2021. There were no warnings that precipitated the problem. The wipers were working fine. We went to our mechanic who had to replace the entire windshield wiper mechanism due to corroded joints. We paid approximately $260. The mechanic said this is a very common problem with GM wipers. We did not keep the damaged part... we did not know that this was a safety issue with other model GMC Terrains until today. Clearly, it is a widespread problem, and there should be a recall, as this is extremely dangerous
While driving in a rainstorm, the wipers stopped working. This caused my visibility to suddenly become extremely compromised. A tractor trailer was in front of me and spraying water from the tires due to heavy rain as well. I had to pull over, under an over pass, and wait out the rain. This is extremely dangerous in of itself to be on the side of a major highway. I have since investigated and found the ball joint connection to the wiper arm corroded and broke off. The wiper motor still runs. This is identical to the 2013 GMC terrain issue.
While driving in the rain, my windshield wipers just stopped working while in an upright position on the windshield. Not only could I not see due to the rain, the wipers were actually blocking my view as well. They now will not turn on at all.
My GMC Terrain makes a clunking noise under the hood when I accelerate and go into a lower gear. Does it mostly going up hills but also even on flat road.
My 2014 GMC TERRIAN WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. I CAN HEAR THE WIPER MOTOR RUNNING, BUTWIPERS NOT MOVING. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP DURING HEAVY RAIN WITH LIMITED VISIBILATY.
Car is burning oil excessively and the timing chain is loose putting the vehicle is reduced power mode. The timing chain was replaced at 40,000 miles and now it needs to be replaced again and the car only has 87,000 miles. I bought it with 70,000 miles on it. Someone needs to do a recall on these engines

TIMING CHAIN ACTUATORS DIAGNOSED PROBLEM BY DEALER . CAR HESITATING, STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING.
THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL. LOSING OIL QUICKLY AND NO LEAK.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Terrain. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator. The service engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics and was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer and it was confirmed that the catalytic converter was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
I'm having issues with my GMC Terrain when I start it. It always starts but it's like it keeps trying to start or is having issues getting enough fuel to get it to idle normal. Sometimes it only lasts a second or two and other times I have to push the gas pedal to get it to idle normally.
EARLIER THIS MONTH WHILE DRIVING, OUR GMC TERRAIN BEGAN SHUDDERING WHILE IN LINE AT A DRIVE-THROUGH. A FEW DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING, IT DIED AT A STOPLIGHT, AND WHEN RESTARTED, IMMEDIATELY DISPLAYED A WARNING THAT THERE WAS REDUCED POWER DUE TO AN OIL ISSUE. WE WERE NOT DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A BODY SHOP WHO INFORMED US THAT IT WAS LEAKING OIL DRASTICALLY AND HAD A LEAK IN THE REAR MAIN SEAL. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER AND THAT WE WERE THE THIRD GMC TERRAIN HE HAD SEEN IN 24 HOURS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAD TO TAKE IT TO A LARGER SHOP FOR THE REPAIR WORK, WHICH TOTALLED $2,407.33 TO REPAIR. THE SHOP SAID THE PCV SYSTEM FROZE AND CAUSED THE REAR MAIN SEAL TO BLOW OUT. THEY ALSO TOLD US THERE WERE MULTIPLE OTHER GMC TERRAINS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I LATER LEARNED THAT GMC HAD TO ISSUE A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE FOR TERRAINS FROM 2010-2013. THIS WAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THE SPECIAL COVERAGE NOTES THAT "GMC TERRAIN VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A FROZEN PCV SYSTEM DURING COLD WEATHER OPERATION. THIS MAY INCREASE CRANKCASE PRESSURE LEADING TO A REAR SEAL OIL LEAK." THE PART NUMBER THEY REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED WAS THE SAME PART NUMBER WE HAD REPLACED.
DRIVING ONE DAY ON A BEGINNING WINTER MORNING CR HAD RAN PERFECTLY FINE AND UP-TO-DATE ON OIL CHANGES PREVIOUSLY OF SIX MONTHS OF BUYING IT THEN CAR STARTED TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT ITSELF OFF EVERY TWO MINUTES WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD NOT KNOWING THAT THE FUEL FUMES ADMITTED FROM THE ENGINE DO NOT HAVE A LARGE ENOUGH OUTLET CAUSING MY MAIN OIL SEAL TO BURST AND BLOW MY INTAKE AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL NOT BE FIXED AFTER GETTING REPAIRED DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO MODIFY THE ORIGINAL DESIGN.
2014 GMC TERRIAN FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING. CAN HEAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR RUNNING BUT BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE BLADE ARMS WILL NOT MOVE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DIRECTING ME TO STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. AFTER WAITING 2 HOURS IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES I WAS ABLE TO GET VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND THE REAR MAIN OIL SEAL HAD BLOW OUT DUE TO A BLOCKED PCV VALVE. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE UP TO 2013 GMC TERRAINS AND MINE IS 2014. PICTURES FROM THE SPECIAL COVERAGE BULLETIN 14882 LOOKS LIKE IDENTICAL PART STILL USED IN THE 2014.
I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE RAIN/SLEET WHEN MY WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING. WAS VERY SCARY AS I WAS ON A HIGHWAY AND COULDN'T SEE OUT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE THIS AND WIPERS JUST QUIT WORKING.
LEFT MY HOUSE ON A VERY COLD MORNING (BELOW 10 DEGREES) AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD CLATTERING NOISE. LOW POWER MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AND SEVERAL LIGHTS DISPLAYED. NOTHING PRIOR TO THE NOISE. IMMEDIATELY PULLED IN AND PARKED MY VEHICLE. I HAD THE CODES RAN, CHECKED THE OIL AND IT HAD NONE! THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED OUT AND THE PCV VALVE FAILED/FROZE CAUSING COMBUSTION IN THE ENGINE AND BLEW OUT THE REAR MAIN SEAL. ACCORDING TO SERVICE BULLETIN 14882 THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON THE 2010-2013 GMC TERRAINS AND 2010-2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX (WHICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME THING) A RECALL WAS ISSUED. MY VEHICLE IS A 2014 (WHO'S TO SAY WHEN THE ENGINE WAS NOT BUILT IN 2013?) AND IT DOESN'T APPEAR THE ISSUE WAS FIXED ON THE 2014S WHICH IS GOING TO COST ME APPROXIMATELY $3000 TO FIX. WHEN THE REAR MAIN SEAL BLEW (OR STARTED LEAKING) IT COATED THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE OF MY VEHICLE WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSE ME TO WRECK OR CATCH FIRE. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED SINCE I WAS SEVERAL MILES FROM HOME.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HIS DAUGHTER WHO OWNS A 2014 GMC TERRAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 60 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING, THE REAR MAIN SEAL FRACTURED CAUSING OIL TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT, A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE OIL LEAKING FROM THE REAR MAIN SEAL. TOM DAVIS CHEVROLET BUICK (2831 N 16TH ST, PARSONS, KS 67357, (620) 860-0751) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
DURING COLD TEMPERATURES (14 DEGREES) MY PCV VALVE FAILED TO WORK WHILE SITTING AT A READ LIGHT WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A CITY STREET RESULTING IN MY REAR MAIN SEAL BLOWING. THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON THE 2010-2013 GMC TERRAINS AND OTHER GM VEHICLES AS NOTED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN 14882. MY CAR IS A 2014 AND CLEARLY THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED WHICH HAS COST ME NEARLY $3000 IN REPAIRS. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME BUT THIS ISSUE COULD'VE LEFT ME STRANDED IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THIS ISSUE ALSO CAUSED OIL TO LEAK EVERYWHERE AND COULD'VE RESULTED IN A FIRE. MY CAR WAS SMOKING AND SMELLED AS THOUGH SOMETHING WAS BURNING.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, ON LOW TEMPERATURE DAY (~10*F), SMOKE BEGAN EMITTING FROM BOTTOM OF VEHICLE WITH PUNGENT SMELL. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF. THERE WAS OIL COVERING THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE OIL WAS PRESENT SUBSTANTIALLY ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, ALLOWING FOR POTENTIAL OF FIRE IF VEHICLE CONTINUED DRIVING. THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS LEAKING AND REQUIRED TO BE TOWED HOME THEN TO DEALER AT LATER DATE FOR REPAIR. THE REPAIR AND ASSOCIATED REMEDIES FOLLOWED TSB 19-NA-021 BUT WERE NOT WARRANTIED AS THE VEHICLE'S VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE ASSOCIATED BULLETIN'S GUIDELINES. ALL REPAIRS AND REMEDIES WERE IDENTICAL TO PREVIOUS REPORTED FAILURES OF ABOVE LISTED BULLETIN.
I BOUGHT IT IN JUNE 2020. USED EXCESSIVE OIL. I KEPT ADDING OIL. I THOUGHT IT WAS AN OIL LEAK AND TOOK IT IN TO FIRESTONE TO GET FIX. AS I WAS ALMOST THERE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. FIRST WARNING OF ANYTHING WAS WRONG, NO OTHER LIGHTS SHOWED ON DASH INDICATING A PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. FIRESTONE SAID REALLY BAD OIL LEAK THAT DAMAGED TIMING CHAIN AND LOWER ENGINE. THEY SAID I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. WHY DIDN'T I GET ANY WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM BEFORE MY ENGINE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL USAGE. I SEE THIS SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THIS VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.
For the last 6 months my vehicle has excessive oil consumption 1/4 to 1/2 quart of oil every week. When it starts up it sounds like a diesel engine. In 2019 it did the same using about a 1/2 quart every 3 weeks. We have kept an eye on it ever since as over time it has increased oil consumption and just recently found out this is a problem for many others as well. We have always kept the oil changed when due per mileage sticker and vehicle oil life indicator.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000. *LN*JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE AND LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A MESSAGE FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH A MESSAGE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER AND TURNED OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS BLOWN DUE TO EXCESSIVE CRANKCASE PRESSURE. THERE WAS ALSO A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT OF TSB: 14882 AND 19NA021. ROBERT BROGDEN BUICK GMC (1500 E. SANTA FE ST., OLATHE, KS 66061 (913)782-1500) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,298.
DRIVING FROM WORK CAR WAS WORKING FINE. CAME TO A STOP. CAR STARTED SOUNDING LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK. NEXT STOP CAR STOPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN. TOWED IT HOME THEN TO THE SHOP. MECHANIC ASKED ME WHEN I DID THE LAST OIL CHANGE. OIL CHANGE WAS DONE AT DEALERSHIP 8 WEEKS AGO. OIL HAD BURNED COMPLETELY AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO FAIL. I NOW NEED TO REPLACE COMPLETELY. $5K ON A 6 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 84K MILES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN A RAIN STORM, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY BECAME INOPERABLE CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD TO THE DRIVER. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.*DT
RADIO STSYEM WENT OUT, WIPED BLADE MOTOR DEFECTIVE, CAM SHAFT SENSORS WENT OUT DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION, SENSOR ACTUATOR WENT OUT DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION, CAR WOULD DIE WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE OF OIL CONSUMPTION/CAM SHAFT ERROR, ENGINE IS CONSUMING TO MUCH OIL-PER ENGINE OIL STUDY DONE BY MY DEALERSHIP.
LITERALLY ALMOST DIED WITH MY SON IN THIS VEHICLE, AS WE WE'RE DRIVING BACK HOME ON THE INTERSTATE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY FOR SUNDAY EVENING DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF RAIN THAT WAS FALLING. IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS DRIVE THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING, THEY STOPPED IN THE UPWARD POSITIONS. WHICH ADDED TO THE DIFFICULTY OF VISIBILITY AS I PUT MY HAZARDS AND PLAY THAT WE WOULDN'T GET HIT OR THAT I WOULDN'T HIT ANYTHING. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO PULL OVER AND FIDDLED WITH THE WIPERS TO TRY TO GET THEM TO WORK-AGAIN AND DIDN'T HAPPEN WE HAD TO STAY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL THE RAIN SUBSIDED A BIT TO MAKE IT HOME IT WAS HORRIFYING. AS BEING IN FLORIDA IT RAINS A LOT AND HEAVY WE STILL HAD A LONG TRIP AHEAD OF US TO GET HOME. I DID REACH OUT TO SEVERAL REPAIR SHOPS AND THEY'RE TELLING THIS COMMON WITH THESE VEHICLE SURPRISED IT'S NOT A RECALL. ADDING INSULT TO INJURY THE REPAIR IS DEFINITELY COSTLY AS A SINGLE PARENT THIS IS BEYOND DIFFICULT DURING THESE COVID TIMES WITH NOT HAVING WORK. IF GMC IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WHY HAVEN'T THEY DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT ??? FOR EVERY GMC TERRAIN OWNER BE CAREFUL CHECK YOUR WIPERS ESPECIALLY IF YOU CHILDREN BECAUSE THIS IS THE KIND OF SCARE THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE. ALL I CAN HOPE FOR IS SHARING THIS EXPERIENCE WILL HELP OTHERS BECAUSE IT'S WHAT IS SINCERELY HORRIFYING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I75 YESTERDAY OCTOBER 29TH 2020 DURING HEAVY RAIN THE WIPERS WERE ON AND WORKING, AS SOON AS I TURN THE WIPER SPEED TO A FASTER ROTATION ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING AND WAS HARD TO SEE ANYTHING. THE NEXT MORNING I CHECKED ALL FUSES AND MOTOR, WHEN I TURN THE WIPER ON THE MOTOR STILL MADE NOISE. I TOOK THE WIPER ASSEMBLY APART AND GOT INTO THE WIPER LINKAGE AND SAW IT HAD CAME APART, I PUT IT BACK ON AND TURN ON THE WIPER AND IT CAME RIGHT OFF, LOOKS LIKE THE LINK AND BUSHING IS RUSTED AND NEEDS REPLACED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S A PRETTY COMMON WITH THE TERRAINS AND EQUINOX. THIS IS AN DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS AND GET IT FIX FOR ITS CUSTOMERS.
OIL IS RELEASING OR LEAKING SOMEWHERE IS BACK FLASHING WHILE DRIVING AND BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. UNDERBELLY IS SATURATED WITH OIL. I WAS DRIVING ON MARYLAND INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 95 FROM HARFORD COUNTY TO BALTIMORE CITY, MARYLAND WHEN I LEFT THE INTERSTATE ONTO THE 6300 BLOCK OF EASTERN AVENUE WHERE I HAD TO PULL OVER AS THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DAYS AUTO BODY AT BALTIMORE STREET AND CENTRAL AVENUE IN BALTIMORE CITY, MARYLAND FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND REPAIRS. VEHICLE WAS PLACED ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2020
OWN 2014 GMC TERRAIN WITH 56K MILES ON IT, HAVE HAD THE CAR TWO YEARS AND HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES. FIRST INCIDENT, WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IN RAIN WIPERS JUST SHIFT OFF. ALMOST WRECKED TRYING PULL OFF SIDE OF THE ROAD. COST $300 FOR NEW MOTOR. 2ND ISSUE HAD TO HAVE A SENSOR REPLACED BECAUSE CAR BURNED EXCESSIVE OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, WITH NO INDICATION OF LOW OIL. FRIED THE SENSOR. 3RD ISSUE, A REPEAT OF THE 2ND CAR WOULD NOT PICK UP SPEED ON HIGHWAY, STABILTRAK LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED IMMEDIATELY, I CHECKED OIL. WASN'T BONE DRY. DROVE IT STRAIGHT HOME AND WAS IN EVEN WORSE CONDITION REVERSING INTO DRIVEWAY. THE OIL EXPLODED ALL OVER DRIVEWAY, HAD IT TOWED TO PRIVATE MECHANIC. NOW I HAVE TO PUT A WHOLE NEW ENGINE IN BECAUSE GM IS NEGLIGENT WITH ISSUING RECALLS. OIL WAS LEAKING FROM RINGS ALL THE WAY OUT TO THE EXHAUST. FAULTY OIL SYSTEM AND NO WARNING FRIED MY ENGINE. STILL OWE 15,000$ IN THE CAR. THIS SHOULDN'T EVER HAPPEN ON A CAR WITH SO LOW MILES AND PROPER UPKEEP. GLAD I'M STUCK WITH 15K ON A LOAN AND A CAR THAT ISN'T RELIABLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED. *TR
WHEN I LEFT WORK YESTERDAY EVENING IT WAS DARK AND RAINING OUTSIDE, AND NATURALLY, I TURNED ON MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS. ABOUT FIVE MINUTES INTO MY DRIVE HOME, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED OPERATING. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING AHEAD OF ME, BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING PRETTY HARD AT THAT POINT AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DARK ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME WERE APPROACHING PRETTY FAST. I PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON, AND CROSSED THREE LANES TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAITED, APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, FOR THE RAIN TO STOP, BUT IT NEVER DID. I WAS ABOUT 1/2 MILE AWAY FROM MY EXIT, SO I INCHED MY WAY THERE, WHILE DRIVING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I MADE IT TO A NEARBY GAS STATION AND WAITED AN HOUR FOR THE RAIN TO DIE DOWN. I DROVE BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES, USING THEIR REAR LIGHTS AS MY VISUAL GUIDE IN ORDER TO MAKE IT HOME. MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS NEVER TURNED BACK ON. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO FATALITIES AS A RESULT OF MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS MALFUNCTIONING.
MY 2014 TERRAIN 2.4 ECO TECH IS USING EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I NOTICED THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL AND CLASS ACTION SUIT ABOUT THIS. THIS HAS ALSO CAUSED MY TIMING CHAIN TO NEED REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND THE ENGINE ENTERING LOW POWER MODE NOTIFICATION CAME ON. ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AND THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON.
I WAS OUT OF TOWN AND HAD GONE TO THE STORE AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. AFTER, LETTING IT SIT FOR 4 HOURS IT FINALLY CRANKED UP. THE BATTERY AND FUSES WERE FINE. NO LIGHTS CAME IN ON MY DASH AS A WARNING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS RUN AND IT THROWED OUT NO CODES.
WHILE DRIVING ON I-75 S IN KENTUCKY DURING A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED IN FILED GOAL POSITION MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEE. I HAD TO CAREFULLY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I TRIED REPLACING THE FUSE, TO NO AVAIL. I ATTEMPTED TO USE RAINEX TO IMPROVE VISIBILITY BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP MUCH. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $125 TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE. I COULD'VE BEEN KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY .THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THIS RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL
THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WOULD NOT LET ME DRIVE IT JUST STOP IN THE ROAD
CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR MALFUNCTION CAUSING VECHILE TO SHUT DOWN -VERY UNSAFE. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DEALER THIS HAPPENS TO ALL GMC TERRAINS AND ONCE FIXED IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN - SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STOPPED ABRUPTLY, WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SIGNALS. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CAR SHUT OFF, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO GMC. I WAS CONTACTED ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 30TH, BY THE SERVICE TECH FOR AN UPDATE. APPARENTLY, THE SPARK PLUG MOVED OUT OF PLACE, AND THE PISTON PUSHED IT INTO THE ENGINE. THE TECHNICIAN MENTIONED THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANY LIKE THIS BEFORE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. THERE SHOULD BE NO WAY THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD TAKE PLACE AND I LOSE EVERYTHING AND HAVE TO PURCHASE AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE. MOREOVER, HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL. IN A WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY, THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS OR SAFETY MECHANISMS IN PLACE TO PREVENT THE SPARK PLUG FROM MOVING INTO THE ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 GMC TERRAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUTOFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,000.
WHILE DRIVING TO NIAGARA WITH MY SON ON THE MASS PIKE, MY WIPERS JUST STOPPED WORKING . IT WAS RAINING HEAVILY FOR THE LAST 2 HOURS OF THE TRIP AND IT WAS HARROWING , STRESSFUL AND UNSAFE . IT NEEDED A NEW MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION WHICH COST ME $562.42, INCLUDING CAR LOAN FOR $29.95 SO I COULD GO TO WORK . I HAVE READ SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2014 TERRAIN .
WHILE DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD THE 'COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM' ACTIVATED WITH NO VEHICLES IN SIGHT EITHER IN FRONT OF ME OR IN THE OPPOSING LANE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES LATER. I TURNED THE SYSTEM OFF. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL OF A DISASTROUS OUT COME IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.

IN OCTOBER 2019 MY CAR NEEDED TO HAVE EXTENSIVE WORK DONE ON ITS TIMING CHAINS, VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SOLENOIDS, INTAKE VARIABLE ENGINE VARIABLE TIMING SOLENOID, VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SPROCKET, HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, TIMING COVER GASKET SET, VALVE COVER GASKET SET, IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS, WATER PUMP, ENGINE OIL FILTERS, SYNTHETIC DEXOS MOTOR OIL, COOLANT. THEN IN JULY 2020 THE TIMING CHAINS COLLAPSED ON ME WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED AFTER THE ENGINE COLLAPSED AND I WAS STUCK OWING 12000 DOLLARS ON A USELESS CAR.
WHEN YOU TURN ON THE WIPERS ABOVE THE FIRST CLICK THEY DETACH FROM THE WIPER ARM AND QUIT WORKING. EVERYTHING HAS TO BE TORN APART TO REASSEMBLE. IT'S HAPPENED IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. IT'S HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. CAN'T DRIVE IT WHEN IT RAINS.
CAR IS EXPERIENCING OIL CONSUMPTION AT A HIGH RATE. I LOOKED INTO HIS AND I GUESS IS VERY COMMON. AND I GUESS GM WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHAT DO I DO NOW? DO I JUNK IT AND TAKE A LOSS AS THE MOTOR IS NOW MAKING NOISE . THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING TO DO.
VEHICLE WILL SPUTTER AND DIE WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING. HAS HAPPENED ON FREEWAY AND NORMAL DRIVING. TOOK VEHICLE IN AND THEY LET ME KNOW THE TIMING CHAINS, PHASER AND SENSORS ARE NEEDED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO THE ENGINE BURNING TOO MUCH OIL. VEHICLE WILL ALSO NOT PASS EMISSIONS TESTING.
HAVE WATER OR COOLANT LEAKING FROM AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. CAUSING MOLD BUILD UP ON THE CARPET FROM THE FRONT ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR PASSENGER SEATS. THOUGHT IT COULD'VE BEEN THE AC DRAIN TUBE, BUT PULL THE TUBE OFF AND CLEANED, STILL SAME ISSUE. CAR SMELLS SO BAD OF MOLD MY PREGNANT WIFE IS UNABLE TO DRIVE THAT VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25MPH WHILE USING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND THEY STOPPED WHEN STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN (12 O'CLOCK). THE WIPERS ARE VERY EASY TO MOVE BY HAND.
