DURING A RECENT OIL CHANGE AND VEHICLE INSPECTION, THE HONDA DEALER FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT SUB-FRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH. THE DRIVER SIDE HAD NO SIGNS OF RUST DAMAGE. THE TECHNICIAN JUDGED THE CAR AS UNSAFE TO DRIVE SINCE TOTAL FAILURE OF THE FRAME COULD OCCUR AT ANYTIME. THE TECHNICIAN SAID HE HAD PREVIOUSLY SEEN THIS FAILURE ON THE 1998 ACCORD LX SEDANS. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST IS $2,200.00. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON IN THE VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH PERFORM WAS GREAT. STATE REQUIREMENTS FOR MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION RECENTLY CHANGED. CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE, 02 SENSOR (BOTH) FAILURE, PROBLEM PERSISTS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. AS OF TODAY, NO HELP FROM HONDA, ALTHOUGH MANY ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE. PROBLEM BEGAN A FEW MONTHS AFTER CAR PURCHASE. WHILE UNDER WARRANTY TECHNICIANS REITERATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND RESET LIGHT MANY TIMES. NOW THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM; EVERY YEAR FACED WITH SAME ISSUE. NOT MENTION VEHICLE DOES NOT PERFORM AT OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE LEVEL. VEHICLE LOSES GAS.

NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG RESULTING IN INJURY TO DRIVER DURING VEHICLE COLLISION.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 1998 HONDA ACCORD CAME ON AGAIN AFTER 101000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IT SEEMS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 1998 HONDA ACCORD, BUT THE COMPANY HAS NOT COMMENCED ANY RECALL TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *JB

THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER MAKES A LOUDE SQUEAKING NOISE WHEN HOT
WHEN PULLING OUT, VEHICLE STALLS AND HESITATES, THIS HAS OCCURED SINCE PURCHASE OF THR VEHICLE. *YC
VEHICLE EXPERIENCING SUDDEN ACCELERATION DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.

ALL REAR SEAT BELTS TIGHTEN UP FOR NO REASON, CHOKING THE OCCUPANTS. THE MORE THE OCCUPANT MOVES THE TIGHTER THE BELT GETS. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, AND PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. DEALERSHIP SAID REPLACING SEAT BELT WILL NOT CORRECT PROBLEM, REDESIGNED SEAT BELT IS NEEDED. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES SQUEAK. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, THEY RESULT IN AN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. HONDA STATES BRAKES WEAR OUT AT 8,000 MILES OR SOONER , DRIVING AT 65 MPH AVERAGE. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
ABOUT 4 MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR, THE CLUTCH STARTED MAKING SOME LOUD SQUEEKS WHILE PRESSING OR RELEASING THE CLUTCH. THE SQUEEK GOT LOUDER AS THE TRAFFIC GOT HEAVIER. WHILE THIS WAS OCCURING THE CLUTCH BECOMES HARD AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL (TOO MUCH RELEASE OR TOO LITTLE). I TOOK THE CAR TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP (HONDA WORLD, WESTMINSTER) AND TOLD THEM. THEY SAID IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER AND AT THIS MOMENT THERE WAS NO REPLACEMENT. I WAITED ABOUT 2 MONTHS THEN FINALLY IN AUGUST '98 IT WAS REPLACED. I LEFT FOR A TRIP TO SAN FRANCISCO AND BY THE TIME I GOT TO MY DESTINATION IT WAS ALREADY OCCURING AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AND GOING UP STEEP HILLS IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO CALCULATE THE RELEASE IN THE CLUTCH BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SMOOTH- IT FELT LIKE IT WAS RUBBING AGAINST SOMETHING ELSE, I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AS SOON AS I CAME BACK. AT THIS MOMENT THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A DEFECT AND THEY HAD NO SOLUTIONS AND THAT I COULD ONLY WAIT. AFTER WAITING FOR AWHILE I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND TOLD MY PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARED BUT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. THEY PROMISED TO CALL ME TO KEEP ME INFORM OF THE SITUATION WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN. IN ONE OF THE PHONE CALLS I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD A PART BUT IT WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AND IT WOULD NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM PERMANENTLY. AT THIS MOMENT OTHER THINGS HAVE COME OUT - THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK GIVES ME ELECTRICAL SHOCKS WHILE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR AND THESE ARE NOT MINOR SHOCKS. ALSO SOMETIMES THE BRAKES SQUEAK WHILE PRESSING - IT HAPPENED A LITTLE BIT WHEN I GOT IT BUT I THOUGHT MAYBE BECAUSE IT WAS NEW. I DON'T WANT TO BE STUCK WITH A CAR WITH THESE MANY PROBLEMS - IT WAS NEW AND I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL THE SCHEDULE MAINTANCE, ALL THE HELP GIVEN IT GREATLY APPRECIATED IT, THANK YOU...

REAR SEAT BELT FAILURE. WHEN THE PASSENGER LEANS FORWARD, THE BELT LOCKS AND DOES NOT RELEASE. ONCE THE PASSENGER SITS BACK AGAIN, THE BELT RETRACTS AND LOCKS NOT ALLOWING THE PASSENGER TO MOVE AT ALL. BELT MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED TO RELEASE THE LOCK.
DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILED. *YC
PART MISSING FROM THE COMPACT DISC PLAYER AT TIME OF DELIVERY. MJS
VEHICLE WOULD SKIP GEARS, AND WHEN CONSUMER TRIED TO PUT VEHICLE IN GEAR, VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER TUNED VEHICLE UP. HOWEVER, PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
SHOCK ABSORBER FAILURE CAUSED THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL TO BOUNCE AND VIBRATE AT A VARIOUS SPEED. YH
CONSUMER HAD TROUBLE WITH VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE REAR COIL SPRINGS. SOMEBODY HAD TOLD HER THE SPRING WERE INSTALLED BACKWARDS, AND THAT'S WHY IT WAS CAUSING TROUBLE TO THE VEHICLE. DEALER HAD REPAIRED VEHICLE. *AK

REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK, IT WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. HONDA DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. *AK
HEATER IS INOPERATIVE, RESISTOR FAILED TWICE. YH

SHORT IN HORN WIRING IN STEERING WHEEL CAUSE THE GEAR SHIFT LOCK TO MALFUNCTION. COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF "PARK." *YC
