LETTER REGARDING 1998 HONDA ACCORD IGNITION RECALL.*MR WHEN THE RECALL WAS ISSUED, THE CONSUMER WENT TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE WORK DONE AND WAS ASKED TO PAY A $105.00 TO DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT THE ALARM SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER REJECTED TO PAY THE COST AND FELT THAT IT WAS HONDA'S RESPONSIBILITY IN THE FIRST PLACE TO MAKE IT A SAFE VEHICLE. *CB *JB
CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AT 70 MPH TO AVOID A DEER AND DRIVER'S SEAT DETACHED FROM SOME OF THE BOLTS. DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. CONSUMER INDICATED THAT SEAT LOOKED LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR. *AK
THE DRIVER HAS DIFFICULTY STEERING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL IS TIGHT AND VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED CONSUMER DOES NOT HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO PUT VEHICLE IN GEAR. *AK
VEHICLE HAD CONTINUOUS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TRANSMISSION HESITATED, THEN JERKED INTO GEAR. DEALERSHIP FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.*AK
IGNITION IS VERY LOOSE WHEN THE KEY IS PLACED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY WON'T DO REPAIRS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A SECURITY ALARM.*AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE, AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT. WHILE WAITING FOR THE APPOINTMENT DATE, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE ON AN ERRAND. VEHICLE SHUT DOWN IN A PARKING LOT. DEALER ADVISED CONSUMER TO GET VEHICLE TOWED FOR RECALL REPAIRS AT THEIR EXPENSE. *AK

WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE, AND DROVE VEHICLE HOME. *AK
