BRAKES FAILED WITH NO WARNING, CAUSE WAS BRAKE LINE BROKE FROM FRONT OF CAR TO REAR BRAKES. NEEDED TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP CAR. *TR
MY CAR EXPERIENCED STALLING AT BOTH HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SLOW SPEED OPERATION. THIS OF COURSE LED TO A LOSS OF THROTTLE RESPONSE AND POWER STEERING, JEOPARDIZING THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC AND LIGHT SMOKE WERE ALSO EVIDENT COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN DURING THESE EVENTS. THIS STALLING HAD THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS IF THE KEY HAD BEEN SWITCHED TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION (I.E. POWER WAS LOST TO THE DASH AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, BUT RADIO AND OTHER ACCESSORIES STAYED POWERED), INDICATING AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER AND CATCH WHEN THE KEY WAS PUT IN THE "START" POSITION, BUT IT WOULD STALL WHEN THE KEY RETURNED TO THE "ON" POSITION. RESEARCH INDICATED THAT THESE SYMPTOMS MATCHED RECALL 02V120000 EXACTLY. THIS RECALL CALLED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. HONDA DEALER AND HONDA AMERICA BOTH SAID THE CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN SERVICED UNDER THIS RECALL AND THAT THEY WOULD ONLY HONOR THE RECALL IF IT WAS INSPECTED AT A DEALER AT OWNER EXPENSE. WHEN THE OWNER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH THE PROBLEM WAS RECTIFIED. THE REPLACED PART SHOWED MELTED SOLDER (THAT HAD MELTED OFF OF THE CONTACT AND INTO THE OUTER CASING OF THE SWITCH) AND MELTED PLASTIC AT THE "1G1" TERMINAL OF THE IGNITION SWITCH, EXPLAINING THE SMOKE EVENT. A MULTI-METER ALSO SHOWED INCONSISTENT CONTINUITY BETWEEN THE "1G1" TERMINAL AND THE WIRING HARNESS WHEN THE SWITCH WAS IN THE "ON" POSITION, MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR RECALL AND EXPLAINING THE STALLING. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE FORUMS AND THE NHTSA SAFETY COMPLAINTS DATABASE, IT IS EVIDENT THAT THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD IN CARS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SERVICED UNDER THE RECALL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD EX. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY INSPECTED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER :03V423000(ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 194,700. UPDATED 8/8/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE OUTSIDE AIR IS 95 DEGREES AND ABOVE THE VEHICLE STALLED.A NEW IGNITION SWITCH WAS INSTALLED ON 6-30-2012. THE VEHICLE NO LONGER STALLS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT MERGED INTO A PARKING AREA WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH HAD BURNED OUT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 02V120000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: SWITCH). THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY MADE REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE A SECOND TIME UNLESS IT WAS AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MECHANIC WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. AT THE APPROX MILES STATED ABOVE, MY HONDA ACCORD BEGAN TO STRUGGLE SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. IT WAS AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS LOSING POWER. ALSO AT TIMES THE CAR NOT ONLY STRUGGLE TO GET INTO FIRST GEAR BUT WHEN IT SHIFTED IT WOULD SHIFT ROUGH, AND THE CAR WOULD PLUNGE OR GALLOP FORWARD. I RESEARCHED SEVERAL WEBSITES AND BLOGS JUST TO SEE IF ANY ONE ELSE HAD EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM. AS IT TURNS OUT EVERYONE HAS EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM ON THE HONDA ACCORD 1998-2002 MODELS. SO SINCE THIS WAS NOT JUST ME, I CONTACTED HONDA HEADQUARTERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD BE OR HAD ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. THEY STATED THEY HAD NOT, HOWEVER, I FEEL THEY NEED TO BECAUSE THIS IS A HAZARD, AND A MAJOR PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR STRUGGLES TO GET INTO FIRST GEAR WHILE TRYING TO GET INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR CAN LOSE POWER, WHICH CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE SOMEONE TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AND AS A CONSEQUENCE AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR, RESULTING IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I ASK THAT THE NHTSA PLEASE IMMEDIATELY LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ BLOGS AND COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB REGARDING HONDA AND THIS PROBLEM WITH THE HONDA ACCORD TRANSMISSION SOLENOID, DATING BACK AS FAR AS 1990-2002. HONDA APPARENTLY HAS KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND HAS FAILED TO BE COURTEOUS ABOUT FIXING IT. ALTHOUGH MY CAR IS OLD, I STILL FEEL HONDA SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR A FAULTY PART ON THE TRANSMISSION. TO CONTINUE WHERE I LEFT OFF WITH HONDA, I HAVE TALKED TO THEM 4 DIFFERENT TIMES AND IN DIFFERENT MONTHS REGARDING THIS ISSUE, IT SEEMS THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN CORRECTING IT, UNLESS THEY ARE FORCED TO DO SO. THE LADY OVER THE PHONE DID NOT EVEN OFFER ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION FOR THE REPAIR. SO NOW IT SEEMS IT IS ALL UP TO ME AS THE CONSUMER. NHTSA, AGAIN, PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE MALFUNCTION RECURRED FIVE TIMES AFTER A PREVIOUS REPAIR UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V120000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT RECENTLY BEEN TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OR POSSIBLE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 305,000.
THE FRONT SUBFRAME OF MY 1998 HONDA ACCORD LX HAS RUSTED THROUGH DUE TO SALT ACCUMULATION AT ONLY ~95K MILES MAKING IT A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS THE ONLY RUSTING ON THE CAR, EITHER THAN THAT SPOT THE CAR IS RUST FREE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 02V120000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH) APPLIED TO THE VEHICLE BUT THE RECALL HAD SINCE EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 176,100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD LX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE SMELL OF FUEL EMITTED INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MY CAR UNDERWENT THE IGNITION SWITCH INTERLOCK RECALL IN 2002. BUT THIS IGNITION SWITCH WAS FAULTY AND AGAIN IN 2011, THE SWITCH FAILED. MY CAR STALLED A FEW TIMES ON THE FREEWAY AND I WAS IN GREAT DANGER OF BEING IN A ACCIDENT. THE SYSTEM WAS WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, IT WOULD IMMEDIATELY CUT OFF THE ENGINE AND IF I PUT IT BACK IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART IT WOULD START FINE. HONDA KNEW ABOUT THE FAULTY SWITCH REPLACED AND NOW IS RECOMMENDING A NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION AT THE OWNERS COST. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR AT MY EXPENSE TO A NEARBY MECHANIC AND SPEND MY MONEY TO FIX THIS ISSUE INSTEAD OF HONDA FIXING THE FAULTY COMPONENT. *TR

WHEN I STOP OR SLOW DOWN THE CAR SHUTS OFF. I HAVE NO STEERING AND NO BRAKES AND NO HAZARD LIGHTS. CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. *TT

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V42300 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION SWITCH). THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 252,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,823 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

WHILE BRAKING, CAR JUST DIED (INCLUDING DASHBOARD ELECTRIC) AND THEN DIFFICULT TO RESTART. AFTER CAR STARTED NO FURTHER INCIDENT FOR A FEW DAYS. NEXT, WHILE TRAVELLING ON HIGHWAY ~50MPH AT NIGHT, CAR UNEXPECTEDLY DIED (NO BRAKING INVOLVED) AND MOST, NOT ALL ELECTRIC DIED (EMERGENCY FLASHERS WORKED). NO "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" EVER CAME ON, BEFORE DASHBOARD BLANKED OUT. IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED IN 2002 WITH NATIONAL RECALL. MECHANIC AT A LOSS. HONDA HEADQUARTERS INITIALLY DENIED A PROBLEM EXISTED. CAR AGAIN STALLED A FEW TIMES WHILE BRAKING TO SLOW DOWN OR COME TO A STOP, BUT ASSUMED IT MIGHT BE "BAD GAS". EVENING OF 8/3/2011 TRAVELLING AT ~50MPH, CAR LOST ALL ELECTRIC 3 TIMES (DASHBOARD BLANKED OUT, BUT HEADLIGHTS WORKED), BUT IMMEDIATELY CAME BACK ON (AS THOUGH IT "BLINKED OFF"), WITHOUT HAVING TO RESTART IT. AFTER PARKING CAR, TOOK KEY OUT OF IGNITION- IT WAS "BURNING HOT". THIS TIME WHEN I CALLED HONDA HEADQUARTERS THEY SAID IT "MIGHT" BE PART OF A "SECOND RECALL", BUT CAR HAD TO BE CHECKED BY HONDA DEALER SERVICE STAFF. IF IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH, IT WOULD BE REPLACED FREE. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THIS WAS NOT PART OF A NATIONWIDE RECALL. RESULT- IGNITION SWITCH WAS BAD AND WAS REPLACED FREE. I WAS LUCKY I WASN'T KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A BAD CRASH. PLEASE ORDER A NATIONWIDE RECALL- IT COULD SAVE A LIFE OR LIVES.
THE ACCORD MODELS FROM 1998 TO 2002 HAVE BEEN HAVING A CRUCIAL RUST PROBLEM. THE SUB- FRAME HAS BEEN ROTTING OUT DUE TO A MISPLACED AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSATION DRAIN. HONDA CLAIMS THAT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS OUT THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IS COINCIDENCE THAT THERE ARE A RUST PROBLEM. HERE'S THE DEAL, ALL THESE CARS HAVE A MAJOR RUST PROBLEM ON THE FOUNDATION OF THE CAR. HONDA ALSO, CLAIMED THAT THE A/C DRAIN WAS NOT THE PROBLEM FOR IT. WELL THEN TELL ME WHY ALL THESE CARS HAVE THIS PROBLEM ONLY ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY UNDER THE A/C DRAIN. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALLS THIS MODEL BECAUSE IF THAT STRUCTURE BREAKS ON THE ROAD THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL COULD COME OFF OR THE RACK OF THE POWER-STEERING COULD SPLIT AND CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THEIR CAR. NOT TO MENTION THE ENGINE COULD DROP OUT THE BOTTOM OR EVEN MORE DEVASTATING THINGS THAT COULD HURT PEOPLE! 1998 HONDA ACCORD WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHILE RUNNING. THE FAILURE HAPPENED AT LEAST TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK FOR A 2 MONTH PERIOD. BROUGHT THE CAR TO TWO MECHANICS WHO WEREN'T SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. LOCATED INFORMATION ONLINE ABOUT A RECALL IN 2002 FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. CAR WAS FIX DURING FOR THE RECALL. BROUGHT CAR TO THE DEALER AND DISCOVERED IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH AGAIN! COST $100 TO REPLACE THE SECOND TIME. *TR
1998 HONDA ACCORD SHUTS OFF BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING. HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. REPLACED FUEL PUMP, FUEL IGNITER, CAP, ROTOR, PLUGS, WIRES, ETC. NOTHING FIXED IT. NOW THEY SAY IT MIGHT BE THE IGNITION SWITCH. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS IN 2002 BUT MY VIN DOESN'T COME UP AS PART OF THAT RECALL SO I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED. AND THAT MAY NOT FIX IT EITHER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING TO BE DONE UNDER A RECALL BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP. AND IT WAS OK AT FIRST THAN CHECK ENGINES LIGHT CAME ON AND I GOT IT CHECKED OUT LONG STORY SHORT THE DEALER REPLACED IT. BUT I MESSED UP MY WRIST BC OF THE JERK FROM THE VEHICLE. AND NOW A YEAR AND A HALF LATER MY TORQUE CONVERTER GOES OUT AGAIN AT 245,000 MILES WHICH MEANS YOUR TRANSMISSION IS OUT TOO. I BEEN ALL OVER THE WEB WHY HASN'T NHTSA MADE HONDA RECALL THEIR TRANSMISSION WHEN ITS EFFECTING SO MANY PEOPLE. I'M NOW ABOUT TO BE OUT OF A JOB, AND HOME. I'M BEGGING NHTSA DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS 2000-2003 WEREN'T THE ONLY YEAR TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM 1999 ARE TO. I THINK THERE IS NO BETTER PROOF THAN RESEARCH. IF U GOOGLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM HONDA ACCORD/ODYSSEY 1998-2002 HAVE BAD ISSUES WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER CODE P0740. PLEASE RESOLVE THIS ISSUE TRANSMISSION SHOULDN'T GO OUT AFTER 50,000 MILES. SAFETY WISE: THIS PAST WEEK I ALMOST HIT TO SEMI TRUCK BC IT JERKED FORWARD I COULD'VE DIED. AND BEING ON THE HIGHWAY N THE MIDDLE IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT PEOPLE WANTED TO KNOW THE ISSUES WITH THE CAR THEY ARE BUYING CARFAX ONLY STATS RECALL. I PREFER A RECALL LIKE A THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE BUT IF YOU CAN'T, AT LEAST MAKE HONDA COME UP WITH A BETTER SOLUTION A BETTER TRANSMISSION HAVE THEM ADD A TRANSMISSION FILTER. *TR
VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING DUE TO WHAT DEALER SAID IS FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. CAR FINALLY RESTARTED AND WAS DRIVEN HOME. IGNITION SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED IN 2002 UNDER RECALL #02V12000. DEALER SAID THIS REPAIR NOT COVERED BY RECALL AS PART HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. MECHANIC REPORTS FAULTY SWITCH IS BROWN (BURNED?). DEALER REPLACED SWITCH WITH NEW ONE BUT IS SAME PART THAT FAILED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 HONDA ACCORD. THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE SAME MATERIAL AND ASSEMBLY ALSO IS FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, SO THIS BREAK IN THE PULLEY COULD ALSO MEAN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NOT WORK. BROKEN PART IS THE THROTTLE BODY PULLEY.
INOPERABLE BACK DOOR LOCKS. BEEN GROCERY SHOPPING AND GOT HOME TO UNLOAD GROCERIES AND COULDN'T OPEN BACK DOORS OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. CAR WAS STATIONARY.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MY CAR WOULD NOT START. THIS WOULD HAPPEN OUT OF NOWHERE, SOMETIMES IT WOULD START UP AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND SOMETIMES I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK AND GET IT. ON ONE OCCASION THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SHORTLY AFTER THAT I TOOK IT TO A HONDA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I PAID $233.27 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THEY ALSO CHARGED ME TO REPAIR A FEW OTHER THINGS, IN TOTAL I SPENT AROUND $400.00. SINCE THEN MY BROTHER PURCHASED A 1999 HONDA ACCORD AND THEY STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. HE FOUND OUT THAT HIS CAR WAS PART OF A RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH AND HE TOOK HIS CAR TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED IT FOR FREE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THAT HONDA ACCORDS FROM 1997-2002 ALL HAVE THIS COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILING. I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AND I BELIEVE I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSE IN REPAIRING THE IGNITION SWITCH.

I CONTACTED HONDA TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL #02-031 BUT THEY SAID THAT IT WAS PART OF THE IGNITION SWITCH INTERLOCK RECALL#03-088. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REASON MY CAR IS CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING IS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM ON MY OWN BECAUSE I FEEL THAT MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN RECALL#02-031 AND HONDA SHOULD ABSORB THE COST.IF ALL ELSE FAILS I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF, TO AVOID BEING SERIOUSLY HURT OR INJURING SOMEONE ELSE. AT FIRST DEALER TOLD ME TO TRY DIFFERENT KEYS AS IT MAY BE A BAD KEY TRIGGERING THE ENGINE IMMOBILIZER, BUT PROBLEM OCCURS WITH OTHER KEYS.
